I toggle between The Mummy and The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society, but The Old Guard and Wedding Season are also VERY high up that list - they never fail to bring a smile to my face

*** OH SHIT I forgot to mention the absolute dELIGHT the Asterix et Obelix films are - I grew up with them and they are CLASSICS and I will rewatch them whenever I see they're on tv

23. favourite piece of clothing?

It's a swirly vest I made this winter! It has a strand of wool and one of mohair and it's got very intricate cables which were A BITCH to make, but so very pretty in the end!! A very close second is the midi A-line black skirt my mom made for me a few years ago (incidentally, the two of them go REALLY well together)

LOVE that we are both absolutely obsessed with murder in rome, that documentary is SUCH a fun watch! I was blown away by the way cicero's actor manages to keep you enthralled for his long ass speeches as a teenager

Same! Honestly it was a great watch. And yes Cicero's actor did an amazing job. It also really helped that the documentary was so aware of the potential stakea and the context of Sulla's dictatorship.

I re-read a load of Terry Pratchett books and also most of the Raymond Chandler books I read this year were repeats from last year. I tend to re-read comfort books.

3. What were your top five books of the year?

In no particular order: Beowulf, Catch-22 (also a re-read), Desolation Angels, Gawane and the Green Knight, The Enormous Room

OK somehow it's really funny to me that people are saying it's the northern protestants because uh. Sharing food is like the most holy rite we have and instead of queueing up for a shot and a wafer we actually sit down at a table and share bread and shit but how funny is it that those same people starve people at dinner hgjgndks

Well, there we have our answer, you already had food at church, what do you need OUR own HARD EARNT food 🤨

For real though, I am really dying to know about the other things that intersect with this. How many of these friend starvers live in cities? How much money do they have??? Bc as someone who is, what, lower middle class and from a village that probably has more cattle than it has people, we always fed our friends if they stayed for dinner. Usually dinnertime meant going home, but if you are somewhere late? Of course you'd be fed!!! You are in the same voluntary firefighters, you wanna hear your buddy talk about how his kid came home UNFED at the next Frühschoppen???

3: what's the coolest thing you've seen at a museum?

oh man i should have thought about how difficult these asks would be before i reblogged the post ahsjagjkag

i saw tutankhamun's mask in cairo something like 15-20 years ago, and i still remember this sort of overwhelming sense of awe. it's such an iconic artefact, something that i'd seen drawings and photographs of countless times, and to see it in person was kind of mind-blowing.

also, there's this piece of wood tucked away in one of the greek & roman rooms in the british museum that has a few lines from the iliad written on it. it's from the roman period, but it's still pretty cool. it had a handle to hang it up on the wall so i like to think of it as the roman version of a 'live, laugh, love' sign

4: what's the weirdest thing you've seen at a museum?

literally everything at the penis museum in reykjavik. more specifically, the 'mythical penis' room or the penis table lamp ig? it was amazing. highly recommend.

10: what piece of art (that you haven't seen) would you like to see in person?

the minoan frescoes!!!

it's ok you remind me to draw her at least once a year and perhaps one day she will be a fully developed character. after something like idk we find another Linear and get it cracked and i finally figure out her personality
