You and Gareth had avoided each other for the past few weeks, him staying over at his other friend, Eddie's, house. It had mostly been you and Jeff in the small apartment, relaxing and relishing the other's presence, playing video games and pulling little pranks on each other. The only thing out of place, the only thing that reminded you of Gareth, was his drums in the corner of the room.
You were lounging in your room, listening to a tape and reading a magazine, when the phone rang. You hopped up and went into the living room where Jeff was tweaking strings on his guitar, trying to come up with a new riff for a song.
Picking up the phone, you put on a cheerful voice, "Hello?"
"Jeff, is she there? I need to come by and get--"
"Gareth?"
Gareth was suddenly hesitant, "Jeff?"
"No..."
"God, sorry. Wrong number."
"Gareth, wait." The line suddenly went dead, dial tone sounding in your ear. "What the hell?"
Jeff was concentrating unnaturally hard on his guitar, not curious about the phone for once.
"Jeff."
"Uh... yeah?" He looked guilty, fingers going stiff and the guitar's gentle notes resonating in the room.
"Does Gareth call a lot?"
"Gareth? What? Pfft, no."
"Jeff! Why didn't you tell me? He lives here too, he should be able to come back without calling first."
"He hasn't really lived here for a few weeks..."
You scoffed, "That's his choice, not mine."
"Well, you were the one who told him you liked him, you know..."
"Yes, Jeff, I know. I was there. But--" You stopped dead in the middle of your pacing-- "Am I making him uncomfortable because I told him I liked him?"
Jeff looked at you and shrugged. "I honestly have no clue."
"Liar."
"No, seriously. I don't know."
"Alright. Well, he should be able to come back. I'm not trying to scare him out of the house."
"Yeah."
"Call him and tell him I'm gone!"
"But you're here."
You stared at him. "Yeah, no shit. Call him."
"Alright, okay!" Jeff scooted his chair over to the phone and dialed a number, his fingers clearly experienced with dialling it. "Hey, Gareth, it's Jeff."
You knelt next to him and pressed your ear to the other side of the earpiece.
"Is she gone? God, man, when she picked up, I thought I was going to die." Gareth's voice sounded less full through the phone, maybe a little sad.
"Yeah, she went to work."
"So I can come over?"
"Yeah, you can come over."
"Great, thanks, man. I appreciate it."
"I'm sure you will." Jeff replied, side-eyeing you.
"What?"
"Just talking to myself."
"I'll be there in ten."

You were the first thing Gareth saw when he stepped in, your back to the door and you leaned over the counter. His eyes widened and he looked at Jeff, who looked away like he had no idea you were there, wow, when did she get here?
Gareth made to get back out the door, unsuccessful when you turned around.
"Oh, hey, Gareth." You were nonchalant. "Welcome home." You gave him a small smile and his mouth dropped open.
"Yeah..." He trailed off, pulling his bottom lip into his mouth.
"You back for good or are you going again?"
"Uh. I guess I'm back for good?"
"It's not like we rented out your bunk bed." You teased, padding softly across the living room towards him and pulling him into a tight hug.
Gareth froze then wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer, and relaxed into your embrace. "I missed you. I'm sorry I left."
"I missed you, too." You smiled sweetly, going up on your tiptoes to kiss his cheek. Your smile fell as he stiffened, "Oh, I'm sorry."
"No, it's alright. I'm gonna go get my stuff from Eddie's, I guess."

You sprawled on the couch, legs slung across Gareth's lap and Jeff's arm around your shoudlers, a slasher movie playing on the TV. You were doing a horror movie marathon to celebrate the prodigal son's return and you were loving every minute of it.
In between movies, Jeff would get up to replenish the snacks, you would get yet another blanket to add to the growing pile, and Gareth would switch the tapes out and complain about how hot it was under aforementioned blankets but he didn't move away from the pile.
Between Friday the 13th and Friday the 13th Part 2, you got up to get another blanket. Jeff went to the kitchen. Gareth stayed on the couch. When you came back, shaking out the blanket, Gareth had thrown all the blankets onto Jeff's side of the couch.
You laughed. "Hot?"
"I'm melting."
"You don't look like a witch to me."
Gareth chuckled and stretched, then stood.
"Hey, where are you going?" You whined.
"I'm stretching."
You rolled your eyes. "Yeah, no shit."
"Then why did you ask?"
"Why not?"
Gareth gave you a weird look. "Okay."
Jeff came back into the room, a bowl of popcorn in one hand and a bag of M&M's in the other. "Did you change the tapes?"
"Oh... I will." Gareth smiled sheepishly and knelt by the TV set.

Between the next two movies (A Nightmare On Elm Street and Aliens), you resumed your routine. Only this time, you and Gareth remained frozen in place, both of you staring at the blackened screen.
"I-I get why they call it Nightmare," You tried for a laugh, but what came out was more of a scared squeak.
"Yeah, me too." Gareth gave you a soft smile.
In the next moment, two things happened: Gareth pressed forward against you, pushing his lips on yours, and his big hands laid across your hips. You were quick to reciprocate, your lips moving against his, your hands sliding through his curls. His tongue swiped hesitantly across your lips and you opened your mouth, your tongue pressing against his. When you part, a trail of spit links your mouths and breaks, falling against your chin. Gareth thumbs it softly from your skin.
"Sorry, that was sudden." He mumbled, reddening under the starstruck gaze you gave him.
"I don't mind."
"I do like you back, if you hadn't caught on."
"Is that why you left?" You teased, tugging on one of his curls.
"Well, no, I just--"
"Are you guys gonna be, like, a couple now? Because if you are, I'm gonna have to sit between you so I don't look over and see you exchanging spit again." Jeff gagged at the thought and shivered.
"Well..." You gave him a grin and Gareth smiled. "No, no, Jeff, I was kidding, don't kill him with the remote--!"

Bottleneck.
I went to Minneapolis for work: the birthplace of Brenda and Brandon Walsh, the city where Mavis from Young Adult calls home. I was being interviewed at a college in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I do college talks as often as they'll have me. To be frank, the money is good. I think back to all the colleges I visited back in my Thought Catalog days—Princeton, Yale, UCLA, McGill, Emerson, University of Vermont—when I didn't have an agent and students would ask me what my quote was.
"Um, just pay for my flight and hotel? IDC!" I said.
One time I gathered up the courage to ask for $500. Now I know I could've made more than my yearly salary.
But it's not about the money. Not entirely. I've realized, especially in recent years, that I love dedicating chunks of time to things that have nothing to do with my Real Life. Getting flown to a city I would never go to ordinarily, researching restaurants, eating the local cuisine (aka going on Grindr) feeling beholden to no one, getting to talk to a group of kids who've been spent the last few years living primarily with Ideas, it's heaven. It feels luxurious, like a nibble of dark chocolate before bed. Sometimes I think if I could live the bulk of my life as a bottle episode—nothing of story consequence, could stand on its own or be cut for time—I would. Bottle episodes are typically the strongest, anyway. They don't have to be bogged down with exposition or serialization. They can just exist and show off the good bones of a TV show.
As you get older, it's harder to just exist. Suddenly everything has consequence, everything is connected. We've designed our lives to to be constantly building, building, building. Go here to get there.
When I'm in these random cities, I'm going fucking nowhere. I'm laying in my hotel bed, AC blasting, watching episodes of Chopped at 1am, my jet-lagged face lit up by my laptop. I'm Googling "Best coffee in Minneapolis" I'm drinking the best coffee in Minneapolis (really good, tbh) I'm working out in the hotel gym with the other mentally ill freaks who can't go three days without exercise endorphins, I'm thinking about going to this museum everyone is raving about while knowing full well I am never going to go, I'm answering an email or two, I'm accidentally getting a huge chunk of writing done—writing that would've taken me a week in Los Angeles—because nobody knows me here, nothing is expected of me. I have nowhere to be. I am really horny all of the time. Hotels put you in that frame of mind. The bed says: "Why are you not having sex with a stranger on me? That's what I'm here for." And then sometimes I do have sex with a stranger. If it's good, the place I'm visiting will suddenly feel like home. Now that I've had a local's penis inside of me, I get why people live here. If it's bad, the limits of the bottle episode will be tested when I fly back in a rotten mood.
Does my enjoyment of these "work trips" belie a larger dissatisfaction with my real life? Yes. No. Maybe. Fuck off.
A state of unease has settled on my chosen city, Los Angeles. The industry I work in is like a weather forecast. And just like the real weather, there's been an inordinate amount of rain. Something's not right. (actual weather: Climate change, Hollywood: Monopoly is being adapted into a movie.) No one knows how to fix it. When will the person in charge come back? Wait. You're telling me there was never a person in charge? Oh no.
Of course, my ego requires me to say I am one of the lucky ones in that I currently, as of this writing, have a job. But even in bustling times, a writer feels insecure. Being prosperous means knowing what the next six months of your life looks like. That's it. And then it's back to planting those seeds knowing most won't bear any fruit. (I spend three days in the Midwest and I'm trying out farming metaphors.)
When I am in these cities or small towns, I am there for a job, which means I know money is coming in. And anything happening back in Los Angeles is none of my goddamn business. Until it has to be.
These cities I visit are full of ambitious people but I project so much on to them. They've chosen to live in cities with affordable housing and James Beard award-winning restaurants. Any unease they feel comes from within and not from watching the Hollywood stock market, otherwise known as the trades. Their lives belong to them whereas I don't know if mine totally does. There's so much powerlessness that comes with my profession. What if a network that is paying my mortgage merges with a Sbarro's tomorrow and, poof, no more job? I wish I were joking but the only comedy getting made right now is Real Life, streaming everywhere.
I want to figure out how to live life more like a bottle episode. How can I take this back to Los Angeles without becoming irresponsible? I don't want a different life. I just want my life to stop feeling different. I want things to go back to "normal" which, for Hollywood, is still crazy but, like, I'm not scared of Sbarro's taking my job.
I am a cynical optimist. Everything is cyclical. It will land somewhere. But, in the meantime, how do you stay inspired when you are told everybody is looking for things that are "safe" which is code for "nothing that comes out of your faggot gimp brain?" How am I supposed to feel when I see my business chasing after IP no one gives a shit about and spending $200 million because they can only conceive of teeny tiny or big bang boom? Baby Reindeer is one of the most popular TV shows right now. I haven't seen it yet but it's a show with no stars (no offense!) and no action figures. Just people trying to figure out less painful ways to be alive, like all the best kind of art explores. It reminds me of Fleabag's success. When your premise is simple, you can be complex. And, yet, I feel like the wrong lesson will be metabolized. "Stalkers! Let's reboot the movie Disclosure, even though no one watched it the first time!"
The thing is, we're all miserable living under these mandates. And, yet, we made the rules. If only someone would just realize no one is coming to save us. We have to save ourselves.
Anyway, my favorite bottle episode is Girls, season two, episode five "One Man's Trash." A show everyone is rediscovering but probably wouldn't get made today for reasons that are made up and nobody understands or agrees with.

Absolutely no minors. I’m over 18.. Way over 18. It just doesn’t feel right or comfortable for me to engage with anyone who is a minor for several reasons. So, if you’re underage / your blog is ageless / ageless and content free / content free, you’re most likely going to end up blocked.
Anyone sending hate in messages or asks / starting fights or being rude to each other in the comments on my posts will be blocked immediately. I’m not here for it, I don’t want any part of it and frankly, I don’t care enough about fandom drama, ship wars or faceless opinion enough to engage further. It’s a waste of time. Any character I write for is 18+, regardless of canon. I do not write for minors. My writing isn’t tailored to them so it’s not about them. So, if you’re looking for a writer who writes those younger fandom characters, look elsewhere. End of story. If this bothers you at all, don’t read, ig.
Reader inserts are gender neutral / gn, female and all must be human.Pairings are typically female/male or gn/male and/or gn/female. I’m a person who was born as and identifies as a female and I happen to be straight, so out of respect for everyone, I’m opting to stay in my little lane.
Occasionally, I have a reader insert that turns out to be well… a little more heavily personified. If this is a problem for you, the tags you need to be on alert for are any variant of ← warning; heavily personified reader ( traits ). If you’re looking to avoid that on my masterlists when I finally get around to remaking them, you’re going to want to avoid anything with ☻ beside the title/description. I’ll probably also put ☻ in the tags too, just to be sure nobody reads anything they don’t want to.
I write original character pieces. And self inserts. And I enjoy writing them. I stopped posting them to here but.. I’ve recently come to the decision that I’m going to post them again and IDC if they’re ‘unpopular’ or ‘cringe’. If you’re the kind of person who can’t stand reading something with an original character / self insert present, you’ll need to look for ← warning; original character content or any variant of that and this symbol ❃. I’ll put the symbol in my warnings and in the tags just so nobody is forced to read my self-indulgent bullshit, no worries.

Sims 4 Family Poll Winner
It started with Mathias (ftm trans) and his sister Kali O'Cult. Like the Goth family the O'Cult had a long history of strange luck related to the supernatural, some even rumoring one of their family's ancestors was a accused witch back in Salem's trails.
Mathias was always an explorer and has a huge love to the idea of space and aliens, so after his high school graduation he hiked his way to Strangerville and camped in the far desert hoping for the annual meteor shower or maybe some other space related miracle. What he got was being awoken at 1 AM to a sound of what he assumed was a car crashing so he grabbed his bat and light and walked to the smoke that comes from the desert.
Well, it wasn't a car he found but some sort of crashed flying object! Not only that but there seem to be a figure stuck in there!!
Mathias helped the figure out the crash site and that's how he met his surprised alien hidden friend turned best friend turned boyfriend turned marriage partner Emerson.
Some time during when Mathis spent a lot of his time teaching Emerson to be a "normal human", Kali was also having an adventure with her buddies from her collage classes.
One of these adventures was a party hosted by a frat in an abandoned building in Forgotten Hollow, and at one point in the night she got lost in the woods and began searching for a way out and home.
During the walk she stumbled upon a unknown man in the shadows-
She, perhaps influenced by her family name, wasn't afraid of the strange man but instead visited him the next night.
Then the next night.
Then the night after that.
The two grew a very funny unlikely friendship and that's why Kali's future husband Brendan adores he a lot.
After Brendan and Kali's marriage the two were happily blissed with the pregnancy of their dear girl Valeria, who grew with her father's side of vampire powers, which made raising her somewhat difficult as neither Kali or Mathias knew how to care for a vampiric child in the slightest but they managed well.
Mathias and Emerson were like Valeria's second parents more than uncles, and much like her family she grew up very adventurous and although she would get in trouble at times.
Her vampire form;
One evening while Valeria was exploring her home's ground after doing some homework and caught sight of a family camping in the forest near by where her attention was caught by the youngest son of the family, Holden Walsh.
Like her mother Valeria was first to approach and the two fell in love instantly which soon led to a happy marriage even through the discovery of their clans not getting along.
His wolf form;
And after the marriage and union of werewolf Holden and vampire Valeria the pair welcome into the world their first born, their son Frankie.
Frankie ended up inheriting his mother's vampire genes and is still getting the hang of the ways of a creature of the night.
Some time after his birth the family welcome the second born, Janine.

I was hoping of adding a warlock/witch or a mermaid in the family but I ran out of room so if someone plays with this family PLEASE tell me how the gameplay is going and tell me about the future relationships with Janine and Frankie!

2020 - Keith Olsen
American record producer Keith Olsen died age 74. He worked with many artists including Rick Springfield, Fleetwood Mac, Ozzy Osbourne, the Grateful Dead, Whitesnake, Pat Benatar, Heart, Santana, Foreigner, Scorpions, Magnum, Journey, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Joe Walsh, and Eric Burdon & the Animals.
2016 - Pop Records
A study by The Journal of Advanced Nursing reported that pop records set a bad example by portraying ageing and old people in a negative light, focusing on dying and physical decline. Researchers trawled the musical archives from the 1930s to the present day for any tracks mentioning old age. The majority, 55 out of 76 songs, focused on 'bad' aspects of ageing. The Beatles and Elton John featured on the 'negative list', along with Pulp and The Who.
2012 - Jerry Lee Lewis
76-year-old Jerry Lee Lewis married for the seventh time when he wed his caregiver Judith Brown. Lewis split from his sixth wife, Kerrie McCarver, in 2004 after twenty years of marriage. Brown, who was 14 years younger than Lewis, was previously married to the star's cousin Rusty.
2007 - Brad Delp
Brad Delp lead singer of US rock band Boston committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning in at his home in the New Hampshire town of Atkinson. He died from the smoke of two charcoal grills he’d lit inside his sealed master bathroom. He was found by police lying on a pillow on his bathroom floor with a note paper-clipped to his shirt which read: "Mr. Brad Delp. I am a lonely soul." Boston had the 1977 UK No.22 single 'More Than A Feeling' and the 1986 US No.1 single 'Amanda.'
1987 - U2
U2 released their fifth studio album The Joshua Tree which features the singles 'Where The Streets Have No Name', and 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For'. The album became the fastest selling in UK history and the first album to sell over a million CDs, spending a total of 201 weeks on the UK chart. It topped the charts in over 20 countries and became U2's first US No.1 album.
1971 - Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin appeared at Leeds University, Leeds, England, during their 'Back To The Clubs' tour. This was the first tour which saw Zeppelin performing 'Stairway To Heaven', 'Black Dog' and 'Going To California.'
1970 - Black Sabbath
Having recently changed their name from Earth to Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward made their concert debut at The Roundhouse, London.
1968 - Bob Dylan
Bob Dylan started a ten week run at No.1 on the UK chart with John Wesley Harding. The album marked Dylan's return to acoustic music after three albums of electric rock music and was exceptionally well received by critics, also reaching No.2 on the US charts. The commercial performance was considered remarkable, considering that Dylan had made Columbia Records release the album without much publicity.
1967 - Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd and The Thoughts appeared at The Marquee Club London, England. The Marquee club has often been defined as 'the most important venue in the history of pop music', not only for having been the scene of the development of modern music culture in London, but also for having been an essential meeting point for some of the most important artists in rock music.
