I can just imagine Elain and Lucien stuck at an Inn. Lucien is hurt, it is raining, they’re both frustrated. Then it all comes out all at once, all the feelings bottled up after all these years.

“I burn for you. I burn for someone who does not feel the same!”

“You burn for me?” Elain asks, one hand placed over her throat.

“Why do you think I went to find Vassa? With no army, no resources? Completely blind into dangerous territory?” He says in a whisper.

Elain takes a step back, her back hitting the wall, shaking her head in disbelief. “I-”

Lucien lowers his head but takes a step forward, closing in on them. He places a hand on the wall behind them. Elain can feel his heat elapse along his skin.

“I’ve burned for you even before I knew you were my mate. I burned for you when I broke out of those restraints. I’ve burned for you the second I laid my eyes on you.”

There was one single pause, and then Elain felt the tug, his heart, his heat.

“I burn for you.” Elain could not believe she said it, that it finally all came out.

Some people aren’t ready to face the fact that the reason they think Elain is “boring” is because she’s stuck in the Night Court, entirely dependent on her sister and her sister’s High Lord mate. She hasn’t been given the chance to be who she wants to be, she’s only been allowed to adapt. (It’s almost like being in the Night Court…is sucking the life from her. See what I did there?)

Wishing for her to leave the Night Court is not an excuse to force her into a relationship with her mate…it’s to allow her the opportunity to be who she was born to be and the author made it very clear that it’s not going to happen in the Night Court.

Perhaps a Court that was described as ‘being made for someone like Elain’? Perhaps a court that could provide the sunshine to the seer who requested it at her most desperate and vulnerable time?

Elain is destined for more than just being the High Lady’s sister.

I'm seeing a lot of Elriels are generally younger so I'm curious if they've never been in a toxic relationship to be able to see the signs 🚩

Elucien DOES NOT ruin the three x three symmetry, actually, and here's why:

This is a variation of the Death of Koschei the Deathless, in which three sisters marry three kings, one of the Moon, the Wind, and the Sun.

Considering Rhys is the High Lord of the Night Court, and owns the Moonstone Palace, it seems pretty apparent to me that Rhys is the Moon King. And his mate is Feyre.

Cassian is an Illyrian who is born hearing the song of the wind, loves Illyrian culture per ACOFAS, is called the Prince of Bastards, and lives at the House of Wind, it's safe to say that he's the Wind King. And his mate is Nesta.

And Azriel is...

Oh. Wait.

So it's not three brothers three sisters, and yet it still maintains the three symmetry.

Because Lucien means light, he's the son of the High Lord of the Day Court, presumably the heir as his only son, and likely will have access to whatever palace Helion resides in once his heritage is revealed. And his mate is Elain, whose name also means light, who craved sunshine in her darkest moment, and who is often represented by flowers, which benefit from sunlight.

Hmm.

Intreresting.

You know what I love about this scene and what comes after?

Lucien found out his mate, who he had never officially met, was engaged to and in love with someone else.

He wants to know if after meeting her, he should fight for a chance to be with her, to possibly put her in a position where she has to choose.

Later he does meet her but he doesn't decide that her hand is the thing worth fighting for, he decides her happiness and well being are worth fighting for.

He sees that she loves Graysen and that she's overwhelmed with sadness over the wedding that would not be taking place in a few days.

So he does not try to fight so that she might care for him instead, he does not try to "woo" her. He respects her feelings for another man.

He does however, fight for her to heal.

He fights for her mental health.

He fights for her to be happy even knowing that it's not him that she wants.

He tells them to take her to the sea, take her to some garden, to get her outside.

He asks them to have a healer look over over.

He volunteers to go on a dangerous mission proving that he sees her and believes in what she's seeing.

He does his best to help bring Elain back to life knowing full well it is not going to benefit him in the end. He's not getting something for his efforts besides knowing she'll be okay.

He fights to bring her back to life knowing she wants Graysen.

I can't think of anything more romantic than that.

In collaboration with @crazy-ache, we commissioned @dangerouslovesong to create this beautiful Elucien piece.

The vision: we have become a little obsessed with 1970-80s romance clinch covers. Not only are the poses romantic and sensual, but the artistry is exquisite. When @dangerouslovesong started her hand at Elucien fanart a few months back, she told me she was inspired by those covers and wanted to try tackling this challenging style. So, a few weeks ago, we all put our heads together to come up with a design and she executed this really magnificent piece!

She even did a worn book cover version!

We thought what with the book announcement looming and fandom getting tense, having a little dreamy version of our own Elucien book would be fun. I personally think she captured the romanticism of the art style perfectly.

And what’s WORSE is that they never take accountability, then never condemn, they never speak out against it. They turn around and point fingers like this. EVERYTIME. The next book pairing theory

Mor will be the novella most likely, considering her absence from ACOSF and sjm has stated the next books will be pairings. She has no romantic prospects as of now.

Vassa is part of the main plot so a novella would be a bit unlikely imo.

I don't care what Elriels say Vassa isn't getting a book Vassien

Lets be real, it makes no sense. I definitely want her story but it'll be intertwined into a main duo book. We don't know her well enough for her to carry half a book

Especially now Lucien is in Spring Court

Since Vassa isn't getting her own book.

Then that still leaves two remaining books.
