What's up with Marlene Wallace?

I will be mainly focusing on Rebirth Marlene but she's been weird since Remake.

In Remake Marlene gets future knowledge from Aerith like Red.

Which is weird that Marlene gets to be on the same level as Red, a guardian of the planet.

But I'm sure you've probably heard a fee theories about that already like 'Marlene is of Cetra descent' or something.

But in Rebirth she's extra weird.

She still has the memories of the future. It makes sense since that world's white materia is also full but the fact that Marlene knows more about the plot than Aerith and Red is wild.

She's Remake Marlene.

That's the really weird thing for me. She's not from the world where Stamp is a terrier. She's from the Stamp is a beagle world, the main one.

The game shows Elmyra in Rebirth with one with Zack and Marlene, and one that isn't. We see that Elmyra only once and it's in the scene where 'Glenn' declares war.

We never see Marlene in the Beagle timeline in Rebirth.

And the only displaced people in the terrier timeline are Zack and Biggs, two DEAD characters. So... is Marlene dead?

That would pretty dark.

But still unless she was world hopping like Cloud and Aerith, why is Marlene in the wrong world?

I don't have an answer but I think that people aren't she considering what Marlene's existence in Rebirth means.

(Unless they just put her there to tell Zack that Sephiroth is trying to kill Aerith. 🤷‍♀️)

I was rewatching some FF7 video and an idea/headcanon/theory suddenly strikes me - not much facts, just for Angst sake.

"I've read around theories about Glenn being Cloud's father but... what if he was the man Elmyra was waiting for at Midgard station? What if mini-Aerith sensed his "returning to the Planet" when Rufus shot him? "

I know as little as nothing about Ever Crisis, so it's just random speculation... but, after all, bear with me:

- Elmyra'husband was a soldier fighting in the "front line", and from the lore we could suppose that means he was dispatched in Wutai - that is where (in Rebirth) is said Glenn and the other two (Matt and Lucia) deserted the Shinra Company;

- Sephiroth and Aerith were both children, so... given an unknown exact age difference between them (presumibly not that big), the time period could match;

- Elmyra received a letter from the man, saying he was coming back on a given day - but he didn't, and no further communication reached her. From CrisisCcore we know that stealing someone's mail is a "Turk's thing", so It could be possibile for Shinra to intercept them, while from FF7Remake web learn how easy is for Shinra control media and information. Expecially if we are talking about letters from a traitor/deserter;

- An unclear time later (few days After adopting Aerith) Elmyra received a letter saying that her husband was "killed in action"... that could totally be Shinra covering something else, seeing how far they went for "Nibelheim Incident".

- At least, Elmyra get a notification, that is more than what Zack's parents had, but... in the last case, there wasn't a war to blame. And Rufus wasn't involved, so... maybe he is just a slightly decent person and thought to at least inform his victim's family?

Whatever: it's just speculation. But imagine the implication - the potential! The possibilities!

Could "Glenn x Elmyra" count as a crack!ship? How could one names It?

I’ve been thinking about Zack staying at Elmyra’s house lately. And how after the lab and running this is probably his first time to just *rest* and trust someone is watching out for him. Maybe he has nightmare and he wakes up Marlene but that’s ok bc she has nightmares too so she understands. Elmyra is prickly at first but she see how hard Zack is working to take care of Cloud and Aerith and how run down he gets. He’s really willing to put in the work and keep his energy up bc he doesn’t want either of them to feel like a burden. Just, being Zack.
