Angeal: Alright, Zack. You know what to do?
(A SOLDIER First Class with brilliant blue eyes stands before the maws of a big, scary cave lair)
Zack: Yupadoodles! Just gotta head into the big scary maws of this cave right here and go for the gold!
Angeal: Good, very good. And what lies in that cave that you must be aware of?
Zack: A big, scary, monstrous, bloodthirsty, man-eating, green-eyed, inferno-breathing, razor-clawed, kill-count-of-over-5000, evil, demonic dragon.
Angeal: Perfect. Now on you go, pup. And remember: BE CAREFU—
Zack (charging into the cave, sword blazing): This dragon is minnneeeeeeeeee!

(46 minutes later)
Angeal: Hmm… Zack should have been back by now.
(Suddenly, the man’s face pales as a horrible realization eclipses him.)
Angeal: Oh no… Dear Gaia, no. Did he—did he get eaten by the dragon? No… no. Not my student! Not Zack!
(In a flurry of anxiety and desperation Angeal picks up his sword and charges head-first into the cave.)
Angeal: DON’T WORRY, ZACK, ANGEAL’S—
(However, the man’s words trail off upon seeing what truly awaits him in the cave—that being the sight of Zack, perfectly unscathed, rubbing the tummy of a towering silver dragon as the creature lays on its back. Its black wings beat frantically in delight, a 7-foot-long bladed tail swishing back and forth with all the vigor of a dog on its birthday.)
Zack: Who’s the best dragon in the world…? Who’s my buddy? Who’s my big buddy…?!
Angeal: …
Angeal: Is that a chew toy?

Of course, he was just playing along for a dumb kid. And once I realized that, I was pissed. I couldn't stop thinkin' about him. I swore to myself that one day I'd blast that jerk for real! Did some hardcore training so I could give him a beatdown. But eventually, it dawned on me: he was just being nice. Like, he was a really nice guy! And the more I thought about it, the more I realized -wow- I liked him.
