I usually don't care or get emotional over celebrity deaths but I am saddened by the passing of Nichelle Nichols who played Lieutenant Uhura on the original Star Trek series. Not only was she an important part of Tevision & Civil Rights history but she was also financially taken advantage of in her final years because of her Dementia which strikes a personal cord with me. For years I took care of my elderly father in his final years in his late 60's because he had severe Alzeheimers. I realized too late he had it because he hid his symptoms from the family. My father was also the victim of elderly abuse financially taken advantage of. Unfortunately I realized his "friend", a fellow Jehovah's Witness that was in the same Kingdom Hall as my dad, took advantage of him by stealing his money with "loans" he never paid back, tools & he 'borrowed" & never gave back. He also had access to my dad's checking account and got my dad to write out checks to him. I went to the police but they said I had no evidence. This guy was a complete drug addicted scumbag, he was indignant about my dad taking medication for his Alzeheimers, printing out information he found on the web saying those medications were harmful but of course his sources were complete bullshit. He even went to the Dr. visit once with me and argued with the Dr. about the medication. He had a meltdown when he came over to the house and saw my dad's medication bottles and stormed out, because he didn't want my dad to get better so he could continue taking advantage of him I never saw his "friend" again. After my father's funeral service at the Kingdom Hall he had the audacity to send his wife to my house and ask if he could keep vehicles in my dad's driveway, (he had some hustle where he soda blasted vehicles) not even man enough to show up in person. I told her: "You tell that piece of shit drug addict husband of yours not only no but I know he stole from dad and if I ever see him again on this property I'm calling the cops!" She left red faced. I found out later from my brother that his "friend" had my dad hold his pain pills for him so he wouldn't be tempted to take them. Even to an icon like Nichelle Nichols she wasn't immune to being a victim of elderly abuse. Ageism & elderly rights & respect is a huge problem in this country. Many just shove them into retirement homes to be forgotten about.

Federal prosecutors seek 40-year sentence for male who attacked Nancy Pelosi's 82-year-old husband with a hammer resulting in Paul Pelosi needing metal plates in his skull – Los Angeles California reporting
Prosecutors made the 40-year sentence request ahead of a sentencing hearing for David DePape, saying he has not shown remorse for the October 2022 attack.
“There is nothing about the history and characteristics of the defendant that warrant leniency,” federal prosecutors wrote in court documents. “The defendant has admitted — indeed bragged — that he knew what he was doing.”
DePape admitted during trial testimony that he broke into the Pelosis’ home intending to hold the speaker hostage and “break her kneecaps” if she lied to him. He also admitted to bludgeoning Paul Pelosi with a hammer after police showed up at the home.
Nancy Pelosi was not at the home at the time of the attack. Paul Pelosi suffered two wounds on his head, including a skull fracture that was mended with plates and screws he will have for the rest of his life. His right arm and hand were also injured.

Two Males, In The Country Illegally Accused Of Posing As Dea Agents, Scamming 78-Year-Old Lancaster County Pennsylvania Woman Out Of $115,000 – Harrisburg Pennsylvania Reporting
– The scam started with someone pretending to be from the DEA calling the victim on her cell phone and telling her that her Social Security number was used in drug dealing and money laundering and that she would be charged.
▶︎ The perpetrators told the victim she could either hire an attorney and handle the case publicly – which would last 2-7 years – or she could keep it private and have her assets picked up and secured by the government," investigators said in a statement. "At the direction of the perpetrators, the victim withdrew money from her bank accounts on multiple occasions.
● Police Said A Concerned Neighbor Called Them On Sept. 15.
▶︎ the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department conducted an operation on September 22 and arrested the defendants, in a vehicle matching the description they gave to the victim.
✔︎ Vikram Singh, 22, of New York and Devraj Devraj, are both charged with theft by deception, criminal use of a communication facility and two counts of theft by extortion.
✚ Investigators discovered through interviews, the vehicle and cell phone data that the men were in the US illegally and were currently in removal proceedings.
⛔︎ "Further information obtained through the investigation indicates the scam operation stems from a contact in New York City who would text the defendants' information outlining time, date, and location of pick-up points for money and then direct them to multiple drop-off points throughout NYC and other states," investigators said in a statement. ⛔︎

WHY ARE ELDERLY ABUSE CLAIMS ON THE RISE IN THE UNITED STATES?
Elderly abuse is a problem that is only getting worse in the United States. In fact, according to a recent study, the number of elderly abuse claims has risen by more than 50% in the past decade.
There are several reasons for this increase, including the fact that the population of seniors is growing faster than the rest. Additionally, many seniors live alone or in isolation, making them more vulnerable to abuse.
Elderly abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse. If you suspect that a loved one is being abused, it is essential to speak up and get help.
Keep reading to learn more about why elderly abuse claims are on the rise in the United States and what you can do to help prevent it.
What is Elderly Abuse?
Elderly abuse is any mistreatment that causes harm or loss to an older adult. Elderly abuse can take many forms, including physical, emotional, sexual, and financial abuse.
Abuse of seniors is a severe problem in the United States. In fact, according to the National Elder Abuse Center, as many as 5 million seniors are abused each year.
What are the Warning Signs of Elderly Abuse?
Several warning signs may indicate that a senior is being abused. These warning signs can be physical, emotional, or behavioral.
Some physical warning signs of elderly abuse include bruises, broken bones, and bedsores. Additionally, seniors who are being abused may suddenly lose weight or have difficulty moving around.
Emotional warning signs of elderly abuse include anxiety, depression, and withdrawal from social activities. Additionally, seniors who are being abused may suddenly become more forgetful or exhibit more signs of confusion.
Behavioral warning signs of elderly abuse include unusual financial activity, such as sudden large withdrawals from a bank account and changes in sleeping or eating patterns. Additionally, seniors who are being abused may suddenly become more isolated or have difficulty communicating.
If you suspect that a loved one is being abused, it is essential to speak up and get help.
Why Are Elderly Abuse Claims On The Rise?
There are several reasons why the number of elderly abuse claims has been rising in recent years.
One reason is that the population of seniors is growing faster than the rest. As the number of seniors increases, so does the number of potential victims of elder abuse.
Additionally, many seniors live alone or in isolation, making them more vulnerable to abuse. Seniors living alone are at a higher risk of abuse because they may have no one to turn to for help if they are mistreated.
Furthermore, elder abuse is often under-reported. Many seniors are reluctant to speak up about abuse due to shame, embarrassment, or fear of retaliation. As a result, the true extent of the problem is likely much higher than what is being reported.
How to File an Elderly Abuse Claim?
If you suspect a loved one is being abused, it is essential to speak up. There are several ways to file an elderly abuse claim, including:
Contacting your local police department
Filing a report with your state’s elder abuse hotline
Contacting an elder abuse lawyer
You can also take steps to prevent elder abuse by staying informed and aware of the signs of abuse. Additionally, if you know someone who is isolated or living alone, check in regularly to ensure they are safe and healthy.
What Compensation can you receive in an Elderly Abuse Claim?
If you or a loved one have been the victim of elder abuse, you may be entitled to Compensation. Depending on the facts of your case, you may be able to recover damages for:
Physical pain and suffering
Emotional distress
Medical expenses
Lost wages
Loss of enjoyment of life
How Can an Elderly Abuse Lawyer Help?
If you suspect your loved one is being abused, an experienced elder abuse lawyer can help. An elder abuse lawyer can investigate the allegations and help you file a claim.
Additionally, an elder abuse lawyer can help you navigate the legal process and ensure that your loved one receives the Compensation they deserve. If you believe your loved one is being abused, do not hesitate to contact an elder abuse lawyer today. If you or someone you know has experienced elder abuse, please get in touch with Oracle LawFirm   At  (888) 547-1778. We can help you fight for justice.
