I get how tempting it is to just label flower husbands as “toxic” and move on, but god they can be SO much more nuanced than that, it makes me insane.
I think something that goes largely unexplored by the fanbase is c!scott’s obsession with composure. he’s clearly very proud of his ability to stay calm under pressure and be two steps ahead of everyone else— not that he’s afraid to rely on people, him and cleo very clearly have that unshakable trust between them, but i think that sometimes he gets so wrapped up in being steady, reliable scott, never hot-headed, never spiteful, or clumsy, or nervous.
and jimmy is a very real threat to that composure, more often than not.
and i think the way their relationship functions in 3rd life, while steady at the time, definitely set them up for complications down the road. scott, for as fiercely dedicated to his allies as he is, kind of tends to handle jimmy with kid gloves for the earlier parts of their relationship. he’s not very good at the death game, but that’s fine, he doesn’t need to be, scott will take care of it— he’ll get them set up with armor and potions and walls and jimmy can do… whatever it is he does when scott’s not around. mostly getting swindled, if he had to guess. but it’s fine, because scott can be steady, level headed, clever—
i do think most of scott’s ribbing about how he doesn’t know why he lets jimmy do anything when all he does is get scammed half the time is genuinely all in good fun, (jimmy is more than happy to play the fool most of the time, if only to bring a little bit of levity to things) it is super symptomatic of the way scott actually thinks about him. i don’t believe he thinks jimmy is actually stupid or anything, but i do think scott doesn’t quite trust him to get anything done. scott would never in a million years let himself lean on jimmy for any kind of support, because in scott’s mind jimmy’s job is to be bright and brash and only listen to that heart of his that’s too big for his body, too big for this game.
and i think too often we forget just how much losing jimmy destroyed scott in 3rd life. you ever think about how wrecked he must’ve been to place 10th despite being a consistent finalist in every other season? do you think about how all he has left is the burning, white-hot urge for revenge from the second jimmy’s body hit the ground?
i don’t think scott ever wants to feel like that again. i don’t think scott wants anyone to see him like that again. i think scott tries very hard to love jimmy from a safe distance where no one gets hurt. and i think that distance fucking kills jimmy, metaphorically speaking.
(also, tangentially related, i think there’s something to be said for how instantly tango goes “we only have a short time together, your curse will probably get us killed, and that’s fine.” and how jealous scott gets of that sentiment. as far as scott is concerned, tango and jimmy are of the same niche— they feel everything, loudly, even if it causes problems and even if it gets messy. and god that just makes his blood boil.)
i’m just so… entranced with the way scott carries himself with so much confidence and it’s not like he’s insecure, he really believes that, he’s a strong player and he knows that, but also revealing any emotion he deems to be “ugly” or “messy” makes him start to completely unravel. the driving force behind him is always love and loyalty and protectiveness over the people he cares about, but he’s juggling that with being dead set on never getting so close that losing them will completely ruin him.
anyway, this is getting away from me, but i think a lot of jimmy’s frustration with scott comes from the fact that he refuses to let their relationship go both ways, and i think by the time of the infamous “say i love you back” scene in limlife he’s just exhausted with throwing himself repeatedly against scott’s brick wall of perfectionism. that, and the whole Situation between them in double life, which i could honestly make it’s own post but good god i need to STOP typing or this will go on forever. forgive my completely disorganized ramblings i just have been trying to get all this down on paper FOREVER

Making fictional characters process shit so I don’t have to seems productive, right?

Meet The Heat! | Rhoda Fettel
Tumblr media
So this is a lil different from my usual Ninjago post and tbh I've been thinking about "what if i make a Ninjago OC?" But then remembered my OC to which i found her to be perfect if I ever wanted to have one of my OCs in the Ninjago it'd be her. And saves me the time to just make her an Alt version of her instead of making a new OC.
Anywho meet Rhoda Fettel! And an illustration of her using the powers she was blessed with to protect her people. Also her powers aren't like wyldfyre, it's just the title of the illustration. This illustration is actually one that I've planned to be sort of like official art for my OCs story. And I have drawn this a while back.

So according to Twitter leaks, the Bloodborne Cookie is named Tarte Tatin Cookie, and from what I gather, is a woman, though they aren’t entirely sure. But given that according to what I found after a quick Google search, the tarte Tatin is named after the Tatin sisters, them being a woman would make more sense
Also apparently her leaked standing sprite
Tumblr media
Also I’m assuming Snapdragon Cookie is the tiny baby dragon we saw before, this one
Tumblr media
Also the leaker says that they’re not sure if the Special class is confirmed or if it’s just a placeholder. Personally I hope they’re not Special class

“Snorpy is by design the most likely to succumb. He is the furthest snakified Grump upon meeting, requires further snakification for his Main Quest and his Side Quest is most likely to be missed by non-completionary players as Snorpy does not roam the center of Snaxburg ever in his day/night cycle.”
It has occurred to me making dramatic pieces is harder when the characters mourning the loss of their loved one are muppet-y monsters.

natsume graduation thoughts
ok something i’ve been playing with a LOT is the possibility of sora becoming the leader of switch when natsume graduates. natsume is one of two 3rd year unit leaders, and the other is hokuto and all the members of that unit r ALSO 3rd years!!! and while not all of the units switched leaders at the end of the ! era, i think it’s still a distinct possibility for a few reasons!!!
- MAGIC LANTERN. sora is taking a much more active role in switch’s like behind the scenes beyond just music (as in how he’s the manager for switch now) and that story very actively acknowledges how much of switch’s important moments r very natsumeandtsumugi and Sora Kinda There. so making sora leader could be a very good contrast to this i think
- very few characters are quite as heavily associated with their units as sora (and switch in general tbh.) is! switch is such an integral part of sora’s character and sora is like. what makes switch SWITCH. like natsume and tsumugi could’ve had a unit w/ just the two of them and sora would’ve been accepted into like ryuseitai probably but NO it’s the THREE of them and like sora’s whole THING is that he wants to learn magic. and he wants to learn magic because of switch and because of what switch is to him
- natsume graduating means that his whole. oddballs thing. is gonna happen slash end. and we have no idea what that means! this is gonna our first time really seeing the 3rd years outside of yumenosaki too so we don’t really know what that’s gonna be like. idk.
- also sora is such a mature character. people don’t talk about that enough. sora is incredibly mature and intelligent and natsume and tsumugi both ADORE him and i think sora being leader really would work
- sorakasa story

Opening shot: Exterior, day AND night.
The screen is split in the centre along the horizon.
The top screen shows a sunrise in oranges and gold, and maintains that colour scheme throughout, the lower shows a sunset, turning from red-purple to indigo-blue and likewise stays that way. In this way it appears as though the sun is leaving one screen and entering the other at the same time: we are watching the same sun from two different parts of the world.
The top and bottom films are complete parallels of each other, the top showing a western and the lower a samurai movie.
When a group of riders on horseback charge across the screen (very wide shot), the top screen has them travelling from left to right, whereas in the samurai picture they stream from right to left mimicking the direction of reading in these two cultures.
After some cuts of these identical shots (from wide, to underfoot, to overhead) the two movies start to contrast in shot type, but their movements are still the same- as though we are watching the same scene, but filmed from different angles.
e.g. The top will be an overhead shot, while the lower is a long shot of the samurai group sneaking up and planning to secretly enter the courtyard of a grand mansion. Then above at the we have the opposite- we see the cowboys doing the same thing to enter and strategically place themselves in a remote village, almost as if they are going to be fighting the samurai, while the lower screen is now a top-down view of the samurai dispersing as they discussed. What is clear from the tension and body language is that Shit is About to Go Down.
There is a little difference in how they communicate asides from the literal language split. The cowboys are more disorganised, spontaneous and sarcastic. Sometimes their gestures are impatient and rude, though still speak in their typical Victorian time-oriented politeness. The samurai are co-ordinated and respectful, and have clearly executed operations like this before, but there are flickers of comedy from the background actors- facial and physical rather than spoken. While the leader is silently giving orders to the main group, in the bg one of the pair trips, but the other catches him before he hits the deck.
A pair of pairs split off as agreed in both teams. These are the odd-balls of the two groups. They have a mirrored conversation- A and B are cowboys. D and C are samurai. Both conversations happen at the same time, and the actors do not speak over each other appear to miraculously coincide with the conversation on the other side of the world. The Samurai speak Japanese (nb. Perhaps the subtitles can interact with the film at various points!)
A is very slick and has the air of a survivor. Amoral, but a quick wit.
B is comic relief incarnate. Jittery, but pitiable. Tries hard. Kind hearted. Doesn’t know how he got into this mess.
C is similar but a little less twitchy (less visual noise/distraction)
D is similar to A but less ‘bastard’ energy, more long-suffering. Deadpan.
D: (after a tense pause) …They are going to get us all killed.
C: (makes an agreeing face, while-)
A: Well, maybe not all of us will be funding the funeral director today. At the very least, I’m surviving this.
B: (sweating, has been anxious the whole time) Huh?! How’s that then?
-(D seems to answer as A checks his revolver’s ammunition)
D: If we left now, we could both still get out of this with some blood left in our veins.
A: It’s common sense. If you don’t have that then- well, I s’pose it goes a long way to explaining how you ended up the way you did.
B: (‘Heyyyyy’ expression- his attempt to mimic A’s smooth flip to realign the barrel of his revolver fails and the bullets all fall out. He scrambles to pick them up.)
C: But... the others need us, the plan-
D and A together: “The plan do(es)n’t account for my needs, namely to get out of this alive, and I’ll bet you didn’t count on dying today either.”
B and C together: (gradual noises of reluctant agreement/mutiny)
A pause of silence and a wide shot of the respective envornments. A shot of the Sun and Moon as a cloud passes over both forms of illumination in the two worlds (tension build, no music).
C: (nervous) ...So…?
B: What do we do?
(A/D look at B/C, to be sure they are in on the plan)
A: Well. We wait for the signal to start…
B: Uh-huh uh-huh...
D: You see that wall? The one covered in vines, with the dead tree besides it?
C: Uh-huh uh-huh…
(The Upper screen shows the wall as D describes it, and we cut to A pointing- to the camera but as if to point out the wall- as the shot swaps to have the wall shown in the Lower screen)
A: ‘n when it all kicks off we bolt straight for that.
D: We climb up that, dive over the wall in the confusion, and make a break for it.
B and C: Why wait ‘til then?! Let’s just go right now!
(B lunges to go for it, but A grabs his shoulder)
(at same time C actually DOES go for it, escaping D’s reach)
D: No no no not yet-!
-Visual joke- the cowboys are on the top screen. A sighs and looks down, as if he is watching the movie below.
C runs out across the courtyard, gets halfway up the tree and is immediately cut down by an arrow. C’s corpse slumps to the ground, and we cut back to D pinching the bridge of his nose.
A: (looking back up at B) ...‘you really don’t got much of an imagination, do you.
There is a sudden gunshot. A looks surprised and pained for a moment, then slumps dead onto B as cries of alarm go up at the same time in both settings- the fight has started unbidden. (Note that D can flinch as if he has heard the gunshot, but it’s really the alarm on his side going up)
The two screens slide so that the focal point of the two survivors moves to the centre to establish our main characters: B, the comedy relief of the Western setting, and D, the straight-man of the Samurai setting. They both look straight ahead at the camera, which cuts to the walls, which cuts back to an extreme closeup of both sets of eyes. After a beat they run, and from behind their heads appear the words of the title. This is followed by an animatic-style credits roll which shows their respective escapes and travels to explain how they both end up in the same part of the world in the same year.

Oh yeah, I should probably post some art since I said I did that. I dunno how well the resolution is going to turn out on any of these, since I draw most things (a.k.a. almost all of my drawings) on my phone, so bear with me.

Also, some of these are older than others, so there's that.
Yeah bye.

Alright I drew out that stupid idea with Charcoal Cheese and Licorice that I wrote before
I don’t know how to draw abs, if you can’t tell
Also you might notice Charcoal Cheese’s panel has a lot more effort, mostly because that tends to be how I make these, but with the second drawing I found it more enjoyable to just do a rough sketch, so I kept that with the other two. I mean they are supposed to be “poorly drawn comics”
But yeah, for context I made an oc named Charcoal Cheese Cookie who’s supposed to be guarding the Golden Cheese Kingdom, and is also Golden Cheese and Dark Cacao’s son, and hence is Dark Choco’s brother. This is an alternate timeline where the Cookies of Darkness go to the Golden Cheese Kingdom before Dark Choco leaves (and also Dark Cheese exists). And the joke was supposed to be that Licorice finds Charcoal Cheese rather attractive, while Dark Choco is mildly horrified. Well I mean he looks less than “mildly”, but you get what I’m going for. Thankfully for Dark Choco’s sanity, Charcoal Cheese does not reciprocate, and it’s nothing more than Licorice thinking he’s hot
Dark Choco’s response would probably be “because he has wings…?”, half suspecting Licorice has a thing for him and the other being like “no no, that can’t be right, it’s just because I’m always in full armor or something, right? Yeah”
Oh yeah and for people who don’t know, I changed his name from Santafereno to Dark Cheese
Edit: And for other people, now his name is Charcoal Cheese Cookie
But yeah, take this stupid comic
