Looking through some old screen shots,I noticed Phil asking Jessy where we (the mc) is from. Jessy replies saying she doesn't actually know that,so I'm wondering-could we turn out to be from duskwood?

I've thought about it before and while it's not my personal favourite theory,that little conversation between Jessy and Phil could serve as a hint?

Or maybe it doesn't mean anything and I'm over thinking :')

AaaAAaaAa I got comments and insight in the last post I made which was a Duskwood theory about how Phil got Jennifer's bracelet and I couldn't be happier :D

But before that:

SPOILERS: DUSKWOOD EPISODE 10

So, Digi from the comments made a point about how Hannah recognised the bracelet because Jennifer was wearing it when she was run over.

Two things came to mind:

Jennifer and Hannah knew each other somewhat before the accident, which means Hannah would have seen Jennifer wearing the bracelet and therefore recognised it

Digi made another point about how the police return personal items after determining that it isn't key evidence, soooo Jennifer's bracelet could have still ended up with Michael..? Or I may have misunderstood her comment 🤔 (I'm sorry Digi, I'm just really dumb ಥ‿ಥ)

Anyways, about speculation no. 1:

It was said that Jennifer always came round Duskwood during the Pine Glade Festival. Michael Hanson even stated that she liked the fireworks which appeared at the very end of the event.

Jennifer even stayed over at her dad's place whenever she was in Duskwood (Michael told the police that Jennifer didn't like the way her room was decorated, remember that?)

So, there wasn't anything about when the Hansons divorced but by the time of Jennifer's accident they'd already done so.

Let's assume that it's been a couple of years since the divorce and that Jennifer stays with her mum in Ashview Hills, which is about an hour drive away from Duskwood.

Now, Jennifer must have gone to the Pine Glade Festival a dozen times at least, right?

I mean, her parents could have taken her when she was younger and (Hannah stated that Jennifer was already an adult by the time of the accident) she could have attended by herself already.

It's not really surprising that Jennifer and Hannah might have crossed paths at some point.

Picture this from the game:

That night, ten years ago, Hannah and Amy had just finished viewing the fireworks display but on their way home, Amy realised that she'd forgotten something back there, in the spot where they were viewing.

But Hannah was tired out, maybe even tipsy, and so they drive to Richy and ask him for help.

But Richy was also tired out and definitely tipsy, and so he gives them the keys to the AMC Gremlin, right?

Hannah and Amy go driving round the outskirts of Duskwood because that's where they watched the fireworks and what do you know?

Jennifer is there too, unfortunately.

What was she doing there?

Coming back from watching the fireworks display.

I don't know, guys ┐(´д`)┌, spec no. 1 isn't really that far-fetched ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways, do comment and disprove my thoughts if you can :D

Yes, yes, there's Jake's mask behind Dan.

However, I only thought it was decoration, I mean, next to it is the big picture of Duskwood. And since they mentioned "we had visitors from duskwood (Cleo, Thomas, Dan)" I assume they just wanted to bring the Duskwood Aesthetic into the photo.

But the thought that it might be a hint is really very tempting. And whether I like it or not, my head makes theories out of it.

Actually replaying the date, the dare house and Richy’s mark has made something very clear to me...

(Spoilers below the cut)

We were all led to believe that Richy was missing before the date because we thought he was messing with the brakes. However, in his confession he swears he had nothing to do with the accident. Instead I believe he was preparing to paint the door of the junkyard.

Richy had every intention of Jessy and Richy to find it in the morning together. But then Dan had his accident and Jessy didn't go to work - she went to be at Dan’s side all day. Now Richy had a problem. If he found the mark on his own, it would be too suspicious. He needed to set up a strong alibi and a reasonable timeframe for the mark to have been painted. That's when he takes us to the dare house. It wasn’t planned, but improvised.

Just something I've been thinking about since Duskwood finished and even more since everbyte has been posting like crazy in the lead up to the new game.

The Duskwood Unique codes and how cool it would be if the game started up asking if you've played duskwood, asks for the code yada yada. And the game screen loads up chats from duskwood. Maybe even the last customised background you chose. The usual chats and the last choices and messages you had received from *everyone*, or maybe only the important ones.

And you start off trying to message them. Trying to get in contact with your friends. Only to find the numbers blocked, or contacts erased but you maybe recognise the chats if you've played enough duskwood (we don't talk about the numerous screenshots and late nights we all have playing it okay?)

Then you get the message from an unknown number. Story kicks off from there.

Later in the story, side story kicks in. Someone from Duskwood finally gets through to you! Phil? The police chief? Jake?! Maybe... Hannah?!?! I dunno. Maybe they're asking what happened? Maybe they know what happened to our friends? Maybe it's another mystery to solve?!?!

I dunno. Just thought it would be so cool if everybyte thought of starting the game up like that for those who've played duskwood.

Anyway. Hyped to hear more news of the games progress!

Talking to someone on Twitter about Jake and his appearance, I came to the conclusion that knowing that Jake falls in love with us because of the way we are (since he never talks about our appearance), I think Jake would repel people who would only look at his appearance more than his way of being.

Or maybe it's simply because of the discussion of whether Jake is handsome or not 😅 I feel that if someone approached him because of his looks, he would feel uncomfortable

Maybe that's also why he can't like Phil, because the guy looks more at the girls' appearance to give them free drinks and not at their way of being

Anyway, a simple thought that has been haunting me since I spoke about it 😅😅

By the way, is it wrong if I think I'd love to see Jake reject an MC/player who only likes him for his looks? If he is handsome or not? (?

I couldn't help but read through Everbyte's Moonvale meets Duskwood page again, and something made me theorize further.

Naturally you are already in your next case and your new friends are counting on you. On the other hand, worrying about your old friends doesn’t just let you go either. Has something happened to them?

Duskwood is not far from Redlog Pines. Should you ask your new friends for help? Or should you go and check out the situation in Duskwood yourself?

Suddenly you get a call from an unknown number …

Now, remember about one of Everbyte's posts? When they asked if they should invite Phil to Redlog Pines one day, so we could ask him ourselves how he and his sisters are doing?

Considering the fact that we, as Duskwood players, are given a side story, and only we start with "Suddenly, you get a call from an unknown number ...", I came to the next conclusion:

We'll get a call from Phil, who got released from jail, and wanted to infrom us/ask about us. Considering all of our friends' contacts are lost, this most likely could be possible.

What happens next, is an endless possibility.

Will he help us through the case? Will we find out the Hawkins siblings are actually from Redlog Pines (considering that Jessy mentioned she didn't grow up in Duskwood)? Is Phil somehow connected to Eric and Adam? Maybe the three are childhood friends, and now that one of them dissapeared, Phil wants to keep an eye on the case? He might even try to invite us to the Aurora again, reasoning with "We could visit Redlog Pines as well, and you could look around and do your detective things."

Everbyte left us with many shady, question filled blank pages. And what else could a fandom do with these papers than not to fill them with theories?

I have a feeling that we can't except many or any updates until May 24th, so we're left alone with the clues and hints they gave us.

Spoilers! ... I just need to vent about Thomas. Like. Seriously, dude? Like, I can understand his fake friendliness at the beginning of the story, because he needed to find out who MC were, and why they were involved with Hannah. And I can understand why he took Hannah's phone, while no one should've touched it in the first place. But. But! Dude, Thomas, my man, MC forgave you and helped you during a breakdown. Like. Why are you now so eager to push them in the arms of a killer? I'm so sad, man.

*deep breath* okaaay let’s talk about Thomas

Spoilers below.

I think to understand Thomas as a character and how his brain works, you basically have to see him as Jake. And I already know what you are thinking, “but Duskwoodraven, Jake isn’t like Thomas at all!”

To that I would agree but also heavily argue against, for they are eerily similar in the way that they value and behave towards their romantic partners.

Let me explain.

Jake, when you take the romantic routes with him, develops a very deep protectiveness and care towards you, the MC. He states multiple times that your safety is top priority, you are the one he cares about most and the one he trusts/will listen to (as long as your request doesn’t jeopardize your life). He is willing to sacrifice information about himself to Alan in order to keep the police off of you, to risk his life and being caught by going in a mineshaft just so you won’t have to.

Jake cares about his sisters, and their friends, he doesn’t wish for anything bad to happen to them. But when we get down to it, you as the MC hold a different level of priority.

Thomas thinks the exact same about Hannah, Thomas cares about Hannah in the same way Jake cares about you.

She is his number one priority.

Thomas from the first day we met him has been devoted to finding Hannah and her safe return. He loves and cares about her deeply, he will do anything to bring her back. He will go into a mineshaft to get her, will confront the MWAF at night in order to take him down, and will break into anywhere to get even a snippet of information to bring her back.

That’s why I find the moment when Jake firmly tells Thomas to stop begging us to go to Duskwood, to be really intense. Because you have two people with very similar attachments, slamming heads in the pursuit of protecting someone they care about.

Now this is where we split back into the differences between Jake and Thomas. Thomas, bluntly put, is like a horse with blinders on when it comes to Hannah. He doesn’t think deeply about the consequences his actions will cause, only the goal. Jake on the other hand thinks about the whole picture, he is distinctly mulling over every detail. While he will also do whatever it takes to achieve that goal, the consequences will negatively affect himself more so then anyone else, to the point of destroying him if it’s deemed “necessary” by his standards.

Jake takes the self sacrificial options, Thomas takes the fastest one. Leaving consequences behind him till it’s too late to turn around. Both unhealthy and dangerous in different ways.

In short, I don’t think Thomas hates MC, or is fake with them. I think towards the end, he does care, just not as much as he does about Hannah. If the MWAF said he wanted Jessy to go instead, Thomas would have told her the same thing. But once something else snaps him out of his blinders, Thomas settles back down. That’s why he backed off when Jake told him to, and stopped begging you to go after the group discussed it further and Jessy gave her speech.

Thomas is a good person down to his core, but he’s also a toddler you have to keep on a leash so he doesn’t get hurt/damage anything. Overly reactive and overly emotional just like Dan said towards the beginning.

I like the doofus but dang is he tiring lol.

Ok guys, let's say that Jake baby boi of my heart really was arrested by the FBI okay? But then, they know about us too so thats a huge problem right?

But what if they have this case, this mysterious case, where they need someone to infiltrate a group and find out who did something specific or find out proof about something... and they look at our job and just like: hey, you have done it before

What if they have a offer: our help (and Jake's too, because we are the dynamic duo) in exchange for Jake's freedom and who knows, maybe a pardon to him too...
