I installed a Japanese keyboard to my phone and started inputting answers into Duolingo manually when given the option. Did it make my lesson take 5x longer than normal? Yes. Did I make far more mistakes than normal? Yes.

But nothing beats the feeling of pride of typing out the answer and being right.

On the one hand, their translation is technically more correct. He is saying it is hot tea, and he’d likely say it differently if only stating that his tea was hot.

He’s establishing what something is, and not just saying the temperature of something already established.

On the other hand, I clearly understood the vocabulary :P

Do you know if there's a good way to learn Kanji? I know the other two alphabets but I don't know where to even begin with this one, it looks super hard and there's thousands of characters

So i've been struggling with this for years too! I've been using duolingo to learn and it has a lot of weak points, mainly speaking and writing. I've been filling notebook after notebook with kanji and hiragana

But!!! Literally this last week Duolingo updated the japanese lesson plan to include kanji practice!! It's a new tab where you would practice hiragana and katakana!

Again, Duolingo isn't the best, but it's at least something you can use to practice and learn all the correct strokes!
