Secret | Qian Kun
Summary: You try to tell your boyfriend Kun that you are pregnant, but you can’t get a word in.

You have a big secret.
You’re pregnant.
Tonight, you have to tell your boyfriend Kun, who’s rehearsing with his rock band, Dreamerz.
Kun interrupts you before you can speak. ““We’re going to open for Nell, baby!” His eyes are feverishly bright. “They’re talking about a world tour!”
As he talks, Kun doesn’t even look at you.
You feel your frustration rise to the boil. Your feet ache, you smell like plane, and you’ve been fighting waves of sickness all evening.
Standing on the edge of the stage, watching Kun run down the stairs, you do something that you will regret for a long time.
“I’m pregnant!” you shout.
Kun freezes.
He stands, statuesque, his shoulders bunched.
When he turns, all of human history is visible on his face.
He walks back up the stairs towards you, his eyes on your belly.
One step. Another. Your heart thuds in your ears.
“How long?” he breathes.
“A month,” you reply.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he says. Tears fall silently down his cheeks.
“I tried,” you say.
Kun rests his head on your belly and shuts his eyes, his tears dampening your shirt. A low animal sound leaves his throat, an emotion too strong for words.
You cradle his head in your hands, twisting his soft hair in your fingers. You never want to let go.
“I’m sorry,” you say, trying not to cry. “I know this isn’t a good time, your world tour…”
He looks up at you, his face blank. “What?”
You laugh through your tears. “You were going to go on a tour, b-but I don’t think you can…”
Kun grins. “Fuck the world tour.” Then, he breaks out in tears again. “I’m going to be a father!”
He takes the next two steps in one bound, clutching you tight to him in a breathless hug. His strong arms make you feel weightless, like you could lift your feet off the ground, and you would still be safe.
“Easy there,” you chuckle, when his vice grip shows no sign of loosening. “Baby, remember?”
He gasps, letting you free. “Oh, I forgot.”
You laugh at the utter bewilderment on his face. “Aren’t you upset? About the band? I thought this tour was make-or-break for your career.”
“I want nothing except to meet our child.” Kun kisses your hand. “If you told me to give up music, right now, I would do it. I’m sorry if I haven’t made that clear.”
“I would never ask that of you,” you say, stunned.
“I know,” he says, smiling. “You’re too kind for that.” He chuckles to himself. “And if our baby gets even one fraction of your kindness, your brilliance, your beauty… they’re going to be just fine.”
You smile back at him.
“I would say the same.”

A buddy and I had gone to Medusa’s to see Corrosion of Conformity open for Overkill but C.O.C. wasn’t into opening for Overkill’s tour support, Testament so they bailed. We ran into them talking to some guys as we approached the club and after a brief chat followed them and a few other people over to Dreamerz to see Government Issue in what became one of my favorite 80s hardcore shows. True story

adidas Basketball is excited to announce the addition of four exceptional athletes from Overtime Elite (OTE) as NIL brand ambassadors: Ian Jackson, Karter Knox, Mikel Brown Jr., and Adam Oumiddoch. This quartet of signings represents a significant milestone in adidas' ongoing commitment to the sport's evolution and investment in the future of basketball.
This collaboration is a strategic extension of the multi-year partnership established in October 2023, where adidas was named the exclusive apparel and footwear sponsor of OTE. Both organizations share a unified vision centered around an athlete-first approach, ensuring the well-being and development of OTE players remain pivotal to their collaborative efforts.
“The partnership with Overtime Elite and the integration of these talented young hoopers into the adidas family empowers us to champion the future leaders of basketball and reaffirms our pledge to the sport's advancement," said Eric Wise, adidas General Manager of Global Basketball. This alliance offers OTE athletes an unprecedented platform to build relationships within adidas, and the brand in turn secures early exposure to next-generation stars. The newly minted NIL ambassadors will not only embody the spirit of adidas Basketball but will also have access to educational opportunities ranging from product testing to visiting adidas headquarters to mentorship opportunities and NIL preparedness. Highlighting the ambassadors:
Ian Jackson (Class of 2024) - A 2024 McDonald’s All-American and two-time gold medalist with USA Basketball, now committed to the University of North Carolina. Karter Knox (Class of 2024) - Also a 2024 McDonald’s All-American, celebrated as Florida's top player and the 3A Florida Player of the Year in his junior year, with a gold medal from the 2022 USA Basketball U17 National Team. Mikel Brown Jr. (Class of 2025) - A promising floor general who’s currently shooting 39% from three and exploring dozens of scholarship offers from high major Division 1 colleges. Adam Oumiddoch (Class of 2026) - One of the Top 20 players in his class, a sophomore who is the only underclassmen at OTE averaging double figures in scoring.
“adidas is focused on the next generation athlete, and their commitment to providing OTE players with opportunities to expand their own brands aligns perfectly with how we look to empower our players,” said Jack Jenkins, VP, Brand Partnerships at Overtime.
The two brands have kicked off their partnership in a big way, amassing millions of views, with shared content creation across league games and visits from current adidas athletes including Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young.

I kinda wanna hear Kenta singing with the Rampage vocalists, like - to hear what could have been, you know? Since they did apparently float the idea of him being a vocalist during the intensive training.

I would also totally understand if Kenta wouldn't want to, like, explore what could have been. In the 50 Questions with the Rampage series on CL Live, there's a question posed to the performers that's like "What do you think of having three vocalists?" and Kenta brings up difficulties with formations and says "If it's 4, they can split into two sets of two and go to each side, but if it's 3, it's 2 and 1" and I'm like ... Knowing he was considered as a vocalist and performed a few times as a vocalist - does he still want it? Does he still want to be the Rampage's fourth vocalist?
