Honestly I find it kinda funny how Cherryfall and Molewhisker plotting to hurt the dark forest trainees by setting a trap that could’ve easily killed them in Dovewing’s Silence is completely ignored. Like, you’d think the knowledge that two apprentices nearly killed their clanmates out of spite would be a kind of a big deal. And it would be something at least mentioned if not held over their heads in the future. But no. Bramblestar- who may I remind you was also a dark forest trainee but just at a different time- is pretty okay with all this. Even assigning them to train his kids Alderpaw and Sparkpaw later down the line

Can we talk about how in Dovewing’s Silence they 1. Kill off a ton of lovable characters 💔

2. They really said fuck the 3, fuck leafpool and fuck squirrelflight

As soon as they fufilled their uses, starclan and the other ancestors really took their powers that they spent their entire lives getting use to and feeling comfortable with themselves, and then they just snatch all that away????

It’s like how starclan manipulated and lied to squirrelflight that she would not have kids ( despite the fandom saying they just retconned it, it is truly implied that yellowfang lied) and that she had to take the 3 in as her own only to spit in her face once she fufilled her duty.

What like really made me emotional about this was as a jayfeather kin, he relied on that power to feel significant, like he wasn’t lesser than his clan and why he had to accept being a medicine cat. They didn’t go into much in this book, but I cannot imagine how he felt realizing he was just a regular blind cat again

Jayfeather

taking a quick break from request cats, surprisingly to do a main character. i just got an idea for a Jayfeather design based on a Steller's jay and wanted to try it. i figure i can tweak or redo this design later if i want to.

overall i think it's pretty good! he has a dandelion for Lionblaze and a holly for Hollyleaf.

i don't really have any strong feelings on Jayfeather tbh. i hate jayhalf though. cause like, the reincarnation plot is dumb, and i don't care what the Erins say, Half Moon was in love with Jay's Wing, not Jayfeather. personally, i would like to know more about Jay's wing outside of Jayfeather possessing him y'know?

Bramblestar's Storm is a weird book for a story purportedly about the Clans' reconstruction period post OotS. Especially for how invested it is in the new characters and how it relies on the titular storm to set this all in motion. I feel like if anything the plot of this one and Dovewing's Silence ought to have been swapped. Give Bramblestar the conflict around restoring the faith of his Clanmates on the DF trainees (especially given, ya know, he is one!) and have Dovewing's feelings of inadequacy after losing her powers be confronted by an external disaster during which her powers would have been a big help.
