Just finished up the latest installment of Of Light & Darkness!! So good and so sweet but I gotta ask, is Obi wan doing EMDR?! Because I screamed (in a good way) at the end!!
Hey 'Nony.
Firstly thank you so much for the write in! You nailed it right on the Head! Obi Boy is indeed doing a little EMDR therapy due to his trauma because we are fantastic clinicians!
Now for those not in the know EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a newer form of therapy specifically used for PTSD and Trauma. Basically how it works is that the patient follows an object such as a pointer or ball while remembering the traumatic event. When a trigger point is found the clinician will guide the patient through processing the pain and other emotions so as to retrain the mind (memories) and allow the healing. This is done in a safe and well guided manner over several sessions.
The Best thing about this particular therapy is that once completed it has an 80-90% success rate and often takes a shorter time than traditional therapies.
I was going to ask if you could show us a kind of "Tutorial" or Speed drawing of Chara?
I've been trying to draw a desing for them but I can't find the correct one.
If you could, I'd appreciate it :)
And if you can't or just don't want to, it's alright, I'd get 'ya.
Hi! I don't think I'd be very good at creating a tutorial of any sort because I'm really bad at explaining things, especially art things, but I did a quick drawing of them and had Clip Studio record a timelapse, so. Here you go I guess!
Try to study your own face and do some weird exaggerated expressions to learn at what point and where wrinkles appear! Most of them are around the eyes (crows feet, eye bags) and mouth since those are the features we usually use to express ourselves. Forehead too of course and if you have a character that likes to wiggle their eyebrows a lot (like Crowley for example) then you can go all out on some forehead wrinkles too! Makes an expression so much more expressive!
When actually drawing them figure out where the wrinkle is the "deepest", where it casts the biggest shadow and play around with some line-weight.
Like I did here with the laugh lines around the mouth:
Crows feet I usually approach by just adding two lines around the eyes to just add a bit of age to the character. Sometimes I like to go a bit more realistic tho and add a whole bunch of them since it just looks cool af like I did for this other crowley drawing:
Just have fun with it and don't be afraid to add some wrinkles to your older characters! Even younger characters have them when they smile or frown. They're incredibly fun to draw, so give it a go!
If there's any other questions, my inbox is always open :)
Hello! I'm sorry if this sounds weird, but, I'm new to the st community here (ran away from twt lol), and I'm wondering if there's any specific blogs that do specific things that I should catch onto? Like, blogs that do lyric analysis, lore chat, art etc?
I've been following you for a while, and I've been trying to interact with blogs that come up a lot, but admittedly I'm a bit lost lmao
Again, sorry if this is a weird ask, and doubly sorry if this is something you've already been asked before!
Hello anon!! Don't worry about the questions, I'm always happy to help, even if I have answered before!
We don't really have "specific blogs" around here as per se. There's @sleepanonymous who's the resident Librarian/Archivist/Knowledge Keeper, and then there are some blogs that do exclusively fanart and fanfiction.
Otherwise we're all a mix of everything. Most of us do a mix of lore theories / analysis / fanart / shitpost. Since the band itself doesn't have an "actual" set lore, you'll find a lot of different takes for the same songs / themes. I think we all have our own takes on the storyline, so it's really nice to read everyone's different opinions. Please feel free to join the conversation!
I have a tag specifically for ST lore on my pinned post, if you want to take a look at that!
@melit0n @undekaying @foundationsofdecay @lovingache @hookedhobbies @fivewholeminutes @thevenomousseprent are some lovely lovely people that do/have done lore / lyric analysis (and myself lol).
@leonsleftbicep @ghxstly-death do frequent headcanons if that's more your speed (and fantastic fanart as well). Not gonna be tagging all the ST artists cus I'd never shut up - everyone is so talented lmao.
Other general ST "heavy" blogs that you should follow (aka the people i interact with the most and can atest to how wonderful they are) - @murderofcrow @a-s-levynn @thejawsoffate @polteergeistt @eepymonstrr @takemetoasgard @sleeby-vessel @vesselsscarlet @tonguetyd @lifemod17 @littlequeenofthemangoes @channelsoph @foxgloveinspace and I know I'm forgetting a lot of blogs oof
If you browse through the main tags, and the lore tags, you'll find a lot more people and content to interact with! I know I'm forgetting a million different lovely individuals lmao, I'M SORRY GUYS. So if you see this, say hi and share your stuff!!
I need more info in the freakvamp au. like. does akito have organs? if not, does that include a brain?if n brain, how think? if have, why? if no blood, there's no way to get water around his body? no blood vessels? so uselessly existent organs??????? HELP
HAHSGS SORRY OP I THOUGHT IT FITS HIS CURIOSITY
but to answer ur question, kinda! he only have those that's beneficial to his daily activity, like his digestive and respiratory system. for example he doesn't have a heart to pump blood because he has no blood to begin with.
the way it works is that akito only digest meat (carnivore moment) and the nutrients from said meat (extracted thanks to the help of his special digestive system) helps his internal organs work just like normal, even better if the meat is fresh + has blood on them. more nutrients means an even stronger body
and for the brains and other parts of the organs, it's really just.. pure meat slob no bones whatsoever (this might make people believe he's weak in general because of no skeletal structure underneath him but his muscle power are way beyond comprehension to balance it out) (he's still an anomaly afterall, he can't be easy to kill)
i didn't actually plan for this au to become a real big thing in this account so i haven't done much research BUT! here's what i think about it so far :3c
Not sure who needs to hear this but don't ever let shitty parents shame you out of using the health and wellness resources that are available to you and that you need! Fuck parents who medically neglect their children! Don't wait until you're 26 and then try to solve all your health problems on your own. Take care of it while you're younger, if you can! The necessary care isn't something to be denied of. Do it now so that by the time you're 26 preventative issues aren't as terrible
Hi! I want to get into mori kei but where i live it's about to be summer and it can get up to 40 degrees celsius. So is there anything mori kei i could wear in the summer? If so please give me outfit inspo, i'm out of ideas
Hello, dear! I hope you are doing well ꒰⑅ᵕ༚ᵕ꒱˖♡
First of all, I'm so happy you want to get into mori kei!! ^o^ I hope you are able to find comfort in this wonderful style, as well as in the community! Ask as many questions to as many people as you want, I promise we are all nice and willing to help! -`♡´-
Now, since it's starting to get toasty where I live, let me say that wearing mori in hot weather is damn near torture. 。°(°.◜ᯅ◝°)° I understand your pain! The real problem here is the layering, which is a big part of mori as a whole. However, you can get away with wearing less layered outfits and still have that "mori look".
What do I mean by this?
Well...Let me make a list! ^^
1. Tops:
First and foremost, try to go for thinner, loose fitting blouses, tops, tunics or shirts. These are usually pretty easy to layer underneath a thinner, flowy dress (or even the opposite, depending on the type of coord you're aiming for!) and get that mori kei look without getting too hot!
Aim for short sleeves (or even those with straps/strapless), with natural, breathable materials like cotton or linen, and don't worry about layering too much, as it will cause you to get too hot!
2. Bottoms:
For the bottoms, try to look for flowy skirts (long, midi or short--remember, it will always come down to preference), or even some shorts! These are heaven sent for wearing mori in the summer, trust me! You can layer them underneath a loose tunic or a shorter dress, and put a thin lace vest on top and bam! you have a mori coord right there!
This is a personal preference, but I also like to wear jeans with mori, but those can get pretty hot for some people! If you prefer to wear trousers (or just want to), try to choose those that are flowy, loose and have natural, breathable fabrics. Go for either cotton, linen or denim since those are the most comfortable and breezy.
3. Shoes and Socks:
For shoes, look for something comfortable and not too heavy/hot. Sandals, or even Oxfords, as long as they are breathable and light, are the safest bet for you. Some white or beige cloth snickers will do the trick pretty easily as well, but, like I said, it will come down to preference at the end of the day.
Socks can get your feet pretty hot, but if you still want to use them, look for thinner socks made out of cotton, as those tend to be the lightest on the feet!
4. Accessories:
When it comes to accessories, avoid using anything made out of wool or crochet, as the materials are usually heavier and will make you hotter! Instead, opt for something lighter and easily removable, like pendants or thin bracelets.
Hair accessories are fine for the most part, but avoid any wool hats or anything that is too heavy and go for straw hats, for example! You can also add lace and doilies to them to make them cuter o(≧∀≦)o
If you don't like to accessorize that much, that's fine too!
Here's some examples of summer/hot weather mori coords I found on Pinterest and Tumblr:
Here's also a wonderful video by the lovely Miwako, where she gives some tips for summer mori outfits (go check her channel out, she is great and a HUGE inspiration for me<3):
youtube
At the end of the day, the most important part of mori kei is to be relaxed and not stress too much about it! It can be hard in the beginning to nail the coords, and you might feel like giving up. But remember, a mori wardrobe is not built overnight, and it usually takes a while for you to get to a place where you have all the pieces you need (or even want). There will be a lot of trail and error, but I assure you that once you get the hang of it (and once you find your own personal mori look) you won't want to go back! (✿◡‿◡)
I hope I was of any help, and remember to have fun while wearing mori, and be your truest, most authentic self!
Hello! Very random and no worries if that's not your intention for the blog, but I love reading about your teacher experience and insights! Take this ask more so as encouragement to write more about it if you feel like it, because I'm going to start teaching soon (and yes, many people I've met have warned me about both its miracles and horrors lol) and it's really helpful to hear others' experiences :)
Thanks for the ask! Honestly I'm just a first year, so I don't have a tonnnn of advice to give. But here's a few general first year tips from one to a future another:
1 — No matter what, having a good department team is ESSENTIAL. You're going to be relying on them a lot your first year for help, advice, curriculum stuff, behavioral management stuff, etc. Talk to them, get to know them, have lunch with them, share issues/seek advice from them. You're going to encounter situations that your degree did not prepare you for (likely, in the first week lol. For me, it was Day 1) and having people around to help you judgement free is going to be crucial. I was super lucky that my department team and all the teachers from other departments that I work closely with are really amazing, easy to work with, etc.
2 — You're also going to want a good relationship with the "other" departments. The library staff, tech staff, sped department, guidance, janitors, etc. They're all lovely people, so don't be afraid to pop in to introduce yourself on the first week!
3 — Crazy things are going to happen. Like....all the time. Don't bring them home with you. As soon as you exit the doors, shake it off. All your students made it on the bus to their parents alive, so it's fine. Your job is done for the day. I've been going to the gym a lot right from school, and it's been really helpful to prevent myself from taking anything home with me so to speak.
4 — Document, document, document. Did something happen? Document it, email a copy to whoever's applicable: admin, guidance, sped, BCBA, etc. "Hello, just emailing a summary of what happened today" is not an uncommon email for me to send out. If an IEP isn't working, well at the next IEP meeting it shows they have 10 emails in the last month from you about little Timmy's hourly verbal threats and attempted physical violence to his classmates, so maybe the BCBA needs to do some data collection to adjust his BIP, or they need to give him a 1-1, or give him more resource intervention, etc.
5 — This isn't so much of advice, more like reassurance. The small moments when it clicks for a student and they get something, and then the confidence and excitement shows, it's really the best. That's probably why I've fallen so in love with working where I did. The other day, after weeks of struggling to help this student with Downs with his math, I tried a totally different approach based off a few example problems I saw in a math intervention workbook and hOLY HELL IT WORKED. It totally clicked for him, and the kid was so excited to do a problem out on the board for the class. It was amazing. Another student with an LD who I've been helping heavily school aced a quiz in one of her classes and legit ran into the room to show me. Cue me literally jumping out of my chair to high-five her, and her calling her parents to deliver the good news. Like, little things like that are really really special, and they're going to mean so much to you. And I hope you get to experience LOTS of them too!
Ok I was going to wait to post this until the whole lineup was completed but that's never going to happen! These are my (hopefully) final designs for Beetlejuice and Lydia that I'll be using in my cartoon revival project (which I'll gladly accept help on, if anyone wants to)
Okay totally personal post here because, now that search engines suck, my research is failing me. So I'm crowdsourcing my question about the residential care work industry!
Hoping at least some of my followers have experience in/with the industry and some intel on this:
Actual question: How common is it for jobs in residential care work (residential centers, btw, not home care) to actually have two people on the night shift? vs. just saying they always have two people on the night shift in interviews and their official policies, and actually it's not true?
Because my current job was, it turns out, apparently totally lying about "you'll never be on shift alone with clients" at orientation (when it comes to the night shift, anyway). Which, holy fucking safety issues, Batman!
Suffice to say this was a very fun thing to find out like three days before my first regular shift
So, I'm thinking realllll hard about switching companies, and I'm trying to figure out if I could expect to actually have a coworker at a different company, or if it's like an open secret in the field that actually, basically all the night shifts end up being solo shifts, because the industry is so chronically understaffed or w/e
Something else that makes me sympathetic to Pharma's situation is like. Idk if there's an actual term for this or if someone smarter and more academic wrote it about some real life context that actually matters.
But, so we've already established among Pharma stans that the circumstances at Delphi were blackmail/torture with no real way out that wouldn't involve Pharma being responsible for people getting killed (either killing patients for the deal or having everyone die bc he failed his end of the deal).
And I feel like while "he's still in the wrong because he killed people" is part of it, another sort of implicit part is the idea that Pharma should've been willing to take more personal risk, maybe even risk dying? I mean, Ratchet does ask "why didn't you just detonate it near the DJD" (to which Pharma responds that he did try to get Sonic and Boom to do it, but they refused) so like
Idk I feel like we do have this social notion of martyrs as a very romantic ideal, people you can praise for being so brave and strong and righteous that they ended their own lives for their cause, while you can also coo about how sad and tragic it is that dying is what it took for them to do the right thing. But at the same time I feel like in reality, having an expectation that people become martyrs is kind of a toxic social norm bc like. It's very easy to demand that others sacrifice their lives for some Ultimate Moral Good when you yourself aren't experiencing the same hardships as they are. And ultimately it is kind of fucked up to tell someone "the moral thing you should've done was risk your life/kill yourself" because asking someone to pay their life to do the right thing is no small request. And sure, the typical response would be to call them a "coward" for caring more about saving their own skin instead of doing the right thing... but again, death is a really scary thing and self-preservation is a really strong instinct, so it kind of feels like having this binary view of "you're either a Brave Hero who sacrifices your life for everyone else or a Dirty Coward who's too scared of dying to do what's right" is kind of fucked up?
I guess the best way to describe it is that if someone willingly gives up their life as a sacrifice to others, it can be a noble thing because it's a choice they made willingly, but if it becomes a Moral Standard that in order to be a Good Person you have to be unafraid of throwing your life away and if you aren't willing to die you're a Cowardly Bad Person, that's when it becomes toxic.
Idk, I guess how this ties back to Pharma is that he was never in a position where he expected to make these kinds of moral decisions/ultimatums. He's a doctor who doesn't even get into combat, his job is to heal and not to kill, he's behind the front lines in a hospital that's supposed to be a safe, neutral place for him to heal people. So in the face of suddenly having a "murder people on behalf of me, or I murder everyone you swore to protect" ultimatum thrust upon him, I understand why Pharma wasn't """"""""""brave enough"""""""""" to "do the right thing" (whatever that would've been in the case of Delphi). You could argue that maybe a frontliner soldier accepted the burden of possibly dying for their cause and they've become used to it as someone who lives that reality every single day, but I feel like for Pharma, who's a doctor and a protected non-combatant (from what we can tell), that sort of risking of his life/living with the fact his life could be snuffed out any day isn't something he would've been prepared for at all.
And for me personally, from an outsider's perspective, it strikes me as kind of unethical to go "oh well he should've just detonated the bomb himself even if it killed him" bc again, there's a difference between witnessing a moral conundrum as a bystander versus being the person living with it and being under time pressure where it's do-or-die. Just as part of my personal standards, I feel like death is such a huge consequence/burden of someone's actions (literally you are no longer alive, any potential you had left is cut short, you cease to exist on this plane) that it feels rather callous to go "Well you should've just been willing to die for your beliefs if you really cared that much!!!"
The train is oddly crowded this morning, bodies packed tightly together, the conductor's voice distorted over the speakers as she squeezes through. It feels like it took ages to get here, legs moving to its own maddeningly slow beat. Feels like she’s late, but she can’t catch a breath to check her phone. She forces her way into a spot beside the corner seats, holding onto the metal strap as she tries to find the trains’ schedule on her phone. Maybe an alternative route would help her get out faster. But the screen won’t budge from the lockscreen’s time.
00:00.
Shit, maybe it was busted, that couldn’t be right. Her eyes quickly lift to the gentleman beside her, his phone’s outstretched in his palm as he reads something on his screen. Ah, she can’t see the print of the time from this angle. “ Hey, sorry, I – ” The words die at her lips, her body jerking backwards when his faceless visage meets her own. It’s just an empty canvas of skin, all the hair over her skin standing at attention. Her mouth hangs, a strangled gasp withering in her throat as she stumbles back into the train’s walls. “ Wh–? ” Panic grows fierce in her as she turns to find other individuals, someone else who sees what she does. But all she finds are a sea of vacant faces, faced towards her.
A scream works its way out her mouth as she turns around to escape to the next cart, shakily grappling at the door to make it through to the other side. But unlike the last cart, this one was disturbingly quiet, the advertisements against the walls and top borders a sea of eyes. And everyone is still. So still. The conductor's voice distorts and echoes. “ Do you remember me? I don’t want to be forgotten. ” Dread wells in her stomach as every faceless reanimates and turns to her to stand.
“ You promised … don’t forget me. ”
The echoes continue, the voice a disembodied, discordant blend of hundreds of others. She can’t find her own voice, her own hands clawing to find her knife, a blade, something. But her pockets are empty. All she can find is her phone staring uselessly back at her. Slick with the blood between her hands. “ I - I remember. ” She tries to say, but nothing comes out. She steps back shaking her head, trembling digits stained. In the corner she catches her reflection within the doors windows; her mouths missing. Bloodied fingers desperately claw at her throat and face in search of it. Her reflection ripples through the glass and extends its palms to wrap around her throat. She can't scream for help without a mouth. Without a voice. It feels like waters flooded in her lungs; drowning from within, nails digging into flesh in a silent plea for mercy. And as consciousness slips, her knees give out, darkness bleeding into her vision. There's a crowd of them now, empty faces, all watching on as she fades. The last hollow echo the only thing she can cling to.
