Group 1

Your Spirit Guides truly love you. They feel deeply connected with you and feel like you are adept at receiving their signs/following their guidance. There’s something in your past you aren’t ready to let go of. You are clinging to this memory and it’s inhibiting your spiritual growth.

You actively communicate your thoughts/connect with Spirit and have an excitingly fresh energy. You offer guidance to others but often refuse to take those same words of wisdom when it comes to yourself.

There’s a lot of blockages here. You may feel listless or deeply wounded. Your Spirit Guides aren’t judging you for dwelling on these feelings and memories. However, they gently want to remind you that your real growth depends on focus. How you can turn your life around? Your guides watch you continuously replaying an event in order to find healing. Truthfully, all you are doing is blocking yourself from allowing new energy into your life.

What do you want to look forward to? The things you want in life don’t lay in the past. You need to start focusing on the changes you want to manifest. Picture your highest self and the kind of life you would be living as your happiest self. That’s all you need to do in order to re-align yourself with forward movement.

The past is not propelling you forward. You need to take an active role in shaping your future. You have an ocean of emotional depth, and compassion that is untapped. The fight is over. Your guides are assuring that peace is intimately close at hand. Just take a few more steps.

Group 2

Your path has been a rough one. Whether there was abuse or neglect (some of you may be experiencing ongoing abuse), you have trodden the path of pain. The people around you don’t support you and there’s a feeling of isolation…almost like you’ve been forgotten. You may not even feel like your Spirit Guides care.

Know that they are ALWAYS watching you. They see your plight and try to infuse hope within you. They shield you and protect you as much as they can, but because the material world is how it is, there isn’t much they can do to defend you in a physical sense. I see a lot of you are stuck in this situation. There really doesn’t seem to be a way out for you at this time. You can’t see a future for yourself.

Your Spirit Guides want you to know you have the courage within yourself to find a safe path. You have fortitude, determination, and power. Your first step is to speak up. Find someone you can talk to. Get guidance. Rescue yourself via communication. Karma will come for the people who have harmed you. There is a way to move on.

Your Guides ask that you meditate, and reach out to them. They will offer your comfort in this madness. It’s easier for them to communicate with you when you are in a meditative state. The signs they send are often ignored because of the stresses and chaos of daily life. They are reaching out to you. Look for them.

Group 3

Karma is here for you. A past action has come back to bite you. Your guides think the punishment outweighs your “crime”. This karmic retribution is the result of multiple small mistakes that have snowballed.

This is a nasty wake up call, but it’s going to bring a change within yourself that may surprise you. Some characteristics you believe to be “weak” or frivolous are actually things you could be more in touch with. Don’t be afraid to look silly or to express your inner child. You will be more in tune with gentleness, warmth, grounding, and balance. The cosmic wave you are riding is colossal, but with time you’ll see why and how this event has shaped you for the better.

For those of you without a partner, this personality shift is going to magnetize a lover who appreciates every facet of your being.

Some of your foundation is crumbling, and you feel like you’re being pushed to the edge. Your guides see this and they are right there with you. They feel on every level the pain and heartache you’re suffering. They understand your current state but they also have the foresight to know this is going to be the detour you need to get the future you desire.

Your guides are next to you every step of the way, and are always ready to warn you if something is amiss. You may get a flash of fear or hear a word in your mind telling you “no” or other subtle messages. Be ready and willing to take their advice in order to stay on your path. You’ve put in some of the work that needed to be done but you still have a ways to go before you’ll get your reward, will be tremendous.

“Why are you ignoring us?!” There’s an organized religion/background of skepticism you may be coming from, and there’s a hesitance to let that go. Some of you fear being judged or “punished” by your Spirit Guides. You don’t know what you’re stepping into should you acknowledge your guides. Half of you don’t even believe in Spirit Guides (why are you clicking this?! :P ).

However, you feel the inner calling. You on some level know there is divine guidance. But...instead of seeking guidance from your Spirit Guides…you fight them. You really don’t want to listen or connect because you’re scared of how they see you and what they may say.

Your Spirit guides want you to know they will always be gentle with you and speak softly. They want to have a bountiful friendship. Their goal is your goal. They are not here to determine your life path, but to help you on it.

They have nothing bad to say about you! They want to work with you to help you manifest the shifts you desire. Not sure if this applies to all of you, but there is this soft kitten energy here and it’s very playful and teasing. They get why you feel this way but find it really humorous. Crazy Aunt energy (if you know you know). They want you to laugh and play and be less serious. Finding a connection with your Spirit Guides will fundamentally change you in the best way. You’ll laugh more, and be truer to yourself. Don’t be scared of “the little furry creature” who wants to be your friend. (I’m dying laughing; your guide is hilarious)

Lauren Stratford claims modern witches are satanic abusers. (If you're part of Witchblr, she means you.)

(A heads up, this post is talking about exposed fraud Lauren Stratford/Laurel Rose Willson, who claimed to have been an SRA and CSE victim, and played a large role in perpetuating the Satanic Panic. There will be disturbing topics discussed in this post/thread.)

We're now reaching the point in this book where Stratford is getting her Harold Hill on and telling us what sorts of things in our society are tools of Satan.

She claims that if you have participated in any of the following, then you, YES YOU, are a victim of satanic ritual abuse or are at risk of becoming one:

Playing Dungeons & Dragons

Wearing pentacle jewelry

Making the sign of the horns

Experimenting with ESP, astral projection, guided imagery, or meditation.

Using a ouija board or tarot cards.

Healing via pyramid power, crystals, or colors

Participating in polytheistic spiritual rituals

New Agey/New Age adjacent self-improvement/empowerment

UFOlogy

OBEs

Channeling

I think most of us would agree that some of these things have... issues (EG, crystal healing) and do in fact connect to some very unsavory politics (EG, New Age), but they are very much not satanic, much less do they have anything to do with some grand satanic conspiracy that can only be defeated through the power of Jesus.

As for the rest, it's very clear that Stratford is lumping all modern witchcraft, all modern paganism and polytheism, and all unconventional spiritual practices together as satanic, and therefore, tools of satanic ritual abuse. Oh, and do you enjoy modern fantasy games? Yeah, no, that's satanic, according to Stratford.

(Satanic Panic peddlers really hate fantasy media.)

But if you disagree with Stratford at all:

Of course you didn't think of yourself as a victim. That's where the deception begins. In each of these areas, you are being directed toward the power of self, the power of nature, the power of another god or other gods, or the power of Satan, and you are being pulled away from the power of God. You are becoming a victim of Satan's deceptions.

And she claims that:

Your only answer, your only hope, your only real freedom is in Jesus Christ. I've shared with you how I found Him to be my answer. Now I long to share with you in a simple and practical way how you can find Him to be your answer.

If you're reading this post, odds are good that you're among the people Stratford claimed was a victim in need of saving from Satan. The Satanic Panic was never about saving people from any sort of abuse; it was always a hate movement targeting anyone who wasn't a conservative Christian. There was never a single shred of evidence found for the grand Satanic conspiracy people claimed existed, but there were lots and lots of frauds like Stratford who were relied upon as authorities on the existence of this conspiracy.

The tropes of the Satanic Panic itself were rooted in witch hysteria and antisemitism. It's the same old violent conspiracy theories repackaged for a new generation, for the same purpose of asserting conservative Christian dominion.

Among many other allegations of SRA that may or may not be rooted in something that actually happened, that were likely as not embellished by law enforcement officials desperately looking for satanic crimes, Stratford claims that:

In 1981 the Witches International Coven Council (WICCA) listed several goals at their convention in Mexico. This list was intercepted and confiscated by law-enforcement officials. Among their objectives are:

To bring about personal debts, causing discord and disharmony within families

To remove or educate the "new-age youth" by: a) infiltrating boys'/girls' clubs and big sister/ brother programs b) infiltrating schools, having prayers removed, having teachers teach about drugs, sex, freedoms c) instigating and promoting rebellion against parents and all authority

To have laws changed to benefit our ways, such as: a) removing children from the home environment and placing them in our foster homes b) mandatory placement of children in our daycare centers c) open drug and pornography market to everyone

Yeah, so, if you're a modern witch, Stratford says that you're involved in a conspiracy to destroy society. She claims that people like you are targeting children in preschool for horrific abuses:

These goals are being systematically pursued, and one of the primary avenues is through preschools. Apparently satanists are actively training and seeking employment in preschools throughout the country, and using this as a base for recruiting and programming children for satanism. What these children see, hear, and endure is practically beyond belief: people in robes; sexual abuse; drugged lemonade; animal sacrifices; human sacrifices.

Anyway, it's a good time to mention that no evidence whatsoever was found for any of the allegations of satanic abuse made during the McMartin preschool trials, adults coached children on what to say, and some children made things up because they were put under pressure.

An error in the ritual causes you to summon the wrong demon, with no way for them to return to hell unless certain criteria are met. Too bad the ambiguity of the pact you've messed up leaves you both stumbling to figure out what they are.

It’s taken months of deep diving into the shady, esoteric, and downright weird parts of the internet to figure out what is legitimate information about witchcraft and summoning demons; and what’s hippie crystal healing self-improvement bullshit. You don’t need guided meditation and inner peace, what you need is to pay your fucking bills and put food in your fridge. Deep breathing exercises to align your chakras while balancing rose quartz on your palms isn’t what’s going to keep a roof over your head.

All of your research led you to the location of a historical auction soon to take place at a privately owned, small scale museum that’s dedicated to the history of the occult. They were desperate for funding, and a book that dozens of witches on the forum you’d lurked were swearing was the real deal, was one of the many items up for grabs. The news of its auction spread like wildfire in the niche community, and the scathing posts between members already fighting to out bid each other and get their hands on something so rare had been a good night of entertainment.

Too bad for them, that auction is never going to happen.

Hidden away in such a small, antiquated museum, stealing it had been laughably easy. Your knowledge about the book and feigned determination not to see the establishment shut down had the curator jump at your offer to selflessly volunteer without question. Afterwards, all it took was a few innocent questions about your well-being in a crime ridden area to learn the security cameras were just for show, then a bit of kissing up here and there to the right people, and the next thing you knew a copy of keys to the building were yours. The safe deposit box containing the book was out of the door in your bag a few days later.

Looking at it now, what’s supposed to be a centuries old tome doesn’t exactly feel or look like it. Online images had shown the cover as an ancient, withered old thing, the pages tinged a sickly yellow with muddy brown splotches across the pages. This grimoire made to summon creatures from the other side of this realm of existence to fulfill whatever your heart’s desire; looks more like something from Barnes & Noble’s New Age section. So pristine that you can practically smell the classic new book scent as it wafts up from every flip of the page.

No way the museum would have the foresight to switch the original book out with whatever this was. How could they begin to anticipate someone would want this old thing bad enough to go through as much trouble as you have in getting it? Though as untouched by time as it looks, from what you can tell the materials used and technique of its construction are clearly of the time period of its supposed origin. Had they hired a professional to restore it, like you’ve seen people do with paintings in viral videos? That has to be it and you refuse to believe otherwise, not after all the time you’ve invested into this.

The meager space of your living room is cleared out in record time to work on setting up what you need to do this ritual. It has to be followed to the letter, the consequences of fucking any part of this up is something you don’t want to even begin to dwell on.

With summoning glyph painted into the wooden laminate floor and all the herbs, crystals, and animal bones needed in their proper positions on it, you hold the grimoire in one hand with a knife in the other and begin to read the incantation aloud. You’re undeterred as the bergamot leaves start to singe around their edges, voice unwavering and confident when the bones splinter and crack. The small pieces of garnet rattle against the veneer as you continue, the noise becoming harsher when you bring the knife to the meat of your palm for the finale of all of this fanfare.

It takes but a single drop of your blood hitting the edge of the glyph for a multitude of things to happen all at once: a large surge in electricity makes the lights go on the fritz, the delicate bulbs shatter from above and smoke pouring from the wiring as the room’s temperature sharply rises. Your furniture rattles and creaks before a pulsing wave of energy spreads out from the center of the room to knock you off your feet. Crashing to the floor, a sharp, tinny sound hits your eardrums as pieces of metal break away from the everyday items in your flat to slowly rise up in the air.

Scissors whirl past from behind and graze your arm. Its stinging pain threatens to make the rising panic burst your heart, and you watch as they fly into the smoky abyss forming over the summoning circle. Some screws shoot past your head, a cluster of loose change hits your back before you’re able to roll yourself out of its path. More metal bits and chunks from things you’ve not given a second thought about are pulled in by whatever magnetic force is making itself known right now, disappearing into the thick smoke swirling around faster and faster. It takes the knives in your kitchen coming from around the corner to finally have you consider that maybe demon summoning as a get-rich-quick scheme was not the brightest idea you’ve ever had.

Through the smoke you see the silhouette of a body taking shape. Metal grinds against metal, your temples pounding from the sound as the amalgamation writhes and twists and groans into something massive. When the swirling veil of smoke evaporates it leaves behind a horned man, with hair as white as moonlight and eyes burning bright like red hot coals that lock directly on you. Each silent step he makes forwards pushes the fear in your chest higher into your throat until he’s towering from above your spot on the floor, tall and thick and broad and very, very naked.

Realistically you know it was likely the demon you hoped to conjure would look nothing like the sketches you’ve seen, but this is far from what you’ve envisioned the appearance of a demon to be like. It’s hard to focus on his looks any further when the way he stares through you with a tilt of his head leaves you wanting to sink through the floor. Between the shock of this actually working, the fact that he’s nothing like you thought he would be, and wondering how you’re going to excuse the multiple noise complaints your neighbors have surely given the landlord by now; a pathetic, shaky little exhale is all you can find the energy to greet him with.

Of all the things he could do in response, this demonic mass of raw power slowly gets on one knee before you and says, “Master.”

His word triggers another round of metallic ringing in your ears as light bursts from his neck and wrists, forming into a thick set of cuffs and a collar. Shielding yourself from the intense burst you have to do a double take as your own wrist glows just as strongly, a much thinner chain wrapping around it to lay lightweight across your skin. Signs of the pact that’s now in play. The demon stays in his place throughout the light show, his eyes following your rise onto wobbly legs when you’re no longer blinded from it.

All of your hard work has led up to this point. Too late to back out now even if you wanted to, but you’re fully prepared to exchange anything the demon wants for your own gain. You square your shoulders and straighten out your posture to do your best to compensate for how huge the demon is compared to you even while on his knees, channel the emotions roiling in your gut to force yourself to sound as authoritative as you can.

“What is your name, demon?” The question is part of the ritual, exchanging formalities is crucial to setting up a good rapport so it can lead to a negotiation that doesn’t involve your soul being what’s exchanged or getting killed on the spot.

Said demon’s full lips curl up in a hint of a smirk, red eyes looking you over for a moment before he deigns to answer, “I’ve gone by many names, but the one that has always been easiest for humans to pronounce is Risotto Nero.”

Your moment of bravado is short lived, as when he shares his name, cold dread shoots through your veins at the realization this is not the demon you had originally intended to summon.

Alrighty Mötley WIPs that are currently in the works/that I just love. I'll give you guys a top ten. Warning poly!Crue and Crue! slash under the cut.

1. Eternally- if you've been on my Tumblr and checked out literally any of my fic stuff you'll know what eternally is all about but if you don't it's an afterlife AU for Mötley crüe where the boys are all banished to purgatory on a creepy demon infested farmhouse where they have to take care of the creatures and crops living there while also trying to figure out how to deal with having four guys in the house and one bathroom. Poly!Crue, this one will get pretty serious and there will be alot of explicit content mentioned. This is also currently in development hell, as I am unsatisfied with literally every draft I do of it. (14% finished)

2.Balancing act- A TommyMick/ MarLee story where Tommy tries to get Mick into meditation, thinking that it might help Mick with his back problems, but all it does is make Mick really good at seeking glances at Tommy while pretending his eyes are closed when Tommy is doing some chacra healing stuff on him. 2006-ish/red, white and crue era. (Haven't started this one yet so 0%)

3.Detective Mars - AU fic. Mick is a hardened La detective with a back injury that sends him into early retirement. He has one final case to solve before that though and it just so happens to be a missing persons case where the victim just poofed out of existence one night or so his bandmates claim. Mick doesn't really believe them however and decides to go undercover as a normal guitar player looking for a band so that he could scope out whether they'd commited the crime or not. The case quickly unravels in a much different way when a strange connection from his past, is somehow linked to this La club band and now his mission is to protect them at all costs, without them figuring out his identity.(20% finished) (Also poly!Crue but very subtle)

4.Don't have a title for this one but(I take suggestions), the ADHD Tommy/ autistic mick fic- Over the years Nikki has gotten used to the quirks of his bandmates, but it's only when he has a particularly heated conversation with his therapist that he starts to take a closer look at their daily actions and suddenly....years of differences start to make sense. So he decided to journal his findings. (0%)

5. Mötley omegaverse fic- yeah I'm not gonna electorate. (2%)

6. Spank bank- Nsft warning, pure smut, poly!crue fic it's literally about the guys... pleasing themselves in the same room and secretly stealing glances. (Sorry, I'm a degenerate) (6%)

7. Whitehorse- Mick Whitehorse era fic, basically what Mick's dinamic was like in that band and what the guys treated him like and his general journey to becoming Mick Mars and all the growing pains in between. (Also there's a story that they tell about all the guys having to sleep in the van one night and all of them could just, not stop farting and I am a child so I think that's hilarious and I wanna write it) (0%)

8. Always my fist choice- Tommy proposed to Mick the day they met and then every single night afterwards, as a joke obviously never truely, he was just messing around. But if asking Mick to marry him everyday meant that he'd one day say yes then he wasn't going to deny them a wedding now was he? This one is gonna be angsty, right off the bat it takes a pretty realistic approach and it has alot more plot then this but I'm to tired to get into it rn. TommyMick/ Marlee

9. Be my daddy- based on the Lana Del Rey song of the same name this is pure Nikkimick smut ft. Nikki's daddy issues. Pretty self-explanatory. (10% finished)

10. Don't have a title for this one but Mick generation swine era angst. I don't wanna give too much away but there's a scene where Mick cries infront of them for the first time.

THE DIVINE FEMININE: The Moon Cycle & Menstruation 🩸🌑🌘🌒🌖🌓🌕🩸

Today I will be discussing what the timing of our menstrual cycle and the moon phase tell us. How can tracking our period and moon phase tell us more about ourselves spirituality? Do you sync up with the full moons or new moons? Or do you get your period in between full and new moons? Continue reading to learn what each phase means. I hope this information helps you on your path to healing, or just in learning to read your energy and what cycles you are currently going through.

🌙The moon is constant in our world, it impacts our earthly lives. The moon, just like everything around us, has energy. There is no question that the moon and its phases have an effect on us, our daily life and the world around us. The moon or lunar cycle has a 29 ½ day cycle and always follows the same moon phase cycle.

I will be going over the most common phases of the moon and their meanings down below 🌛🌜

New Moon: the moon is dark, a time of reflection and exploring the unseen. A time to be fully present. Spend some time journaling and exploring your deepest desires, looking deep within your heart. Spend some time meditating , take a mindful walk. Time to write down goals or set new intentions. This is a great time to set new intentions for new beginnings as well as a time of rejuvenation , for women it is usually to regain strength after their monthly cycle (when applicable) a great time to focus on what's coming next. Spells cast during this phase work best as the energy of the moon is fertile and works great for any intentions for new beginnings or setting new intentions. This is also a good time to slow down and focus on yourself and do some soul searching whether it be through journaling or meditation. Either way, spend some time alone to reflect on what energy you want to welcome in.

Waxing Moon: Get in motion, this is a time to start new things or take action just as the moon begins to show herself. Commit yourself to the goals and intentions you set on the new moon. Take time to exercise or get your body moving as this moon phase is energizing, time to work on self-confidence and compassion. A great time to increase or improve anything in your life at this moment.

Full moon: this is when the moon is illuminated, it is the most popular phase and seen as the most powerful moon phase. Emotions run high during this period, everything that is hidden is put to the surface. This phase has the most spiritual energy to it. You may feel more intense during this time, feeling more emotional and overwhelmed with this energy. You may have heard numerous times stories of people acting crazy during a full moon, more crimes committed and more people taking trips to the hospital. This is a great time to communicate with your ancestors or spirit guides. A good time for rituals, release what no longer serves you or is in alignment with you . A good time to concentrate on your intuition and what it is telling you, also a beneficial time to tap into your creative abilities. People of all ages tend to sleep less or feel more energized during a full moon phase.

Waning Moon: This phase is good to let go and restore balance. As the light of the moon begins to dim you should also take a look at what no longer serves you and let it go. This is a good time to begin completing any task you have, clean up any of your spaces and organize. Use this phase to refine and clarify what you want and complete any task you have been working on. Also keep being consistent with habits that help you be aligned with your path. As the energy from the full moon begins to recede you can be feeling a lot more clarity and can reflect on your emotions and so journaling is beneficial at this time as well. This is a good time for shadow work and evaluation; ideal time to reflect on past days and readjust your intentions for the rest of the month. After the full moon the light of the moon begins to decrease or shrink in size this makes way for clearing any negativity from your life and space.

🌜Now that you have a better understanding of the moon phases, let's talk about our menstrual cycle and how it links up with the moon. Knowing when you start your menstrual cycle and what moon phase it falls into can tell us more about ourselves and the spiritual reason for it. Now it's important to note that your period can change and will not always fall on the same moon cycle. It's also important to note that the average length of a menstrual cycle is 28 days but that can vary for each woman and the lunar cycle is about 29.5 days long. Moon in many cultures and myths is associated with the feminine, emotions, fertility, and all things maternal. Menstruation is also known as “menses” which means “month”. The Greek root from which “moon” comes from is the root “month”. In ancient cultures a woman's cycle was closely linked with the moon as both cycles ebb and flow. In ancient cultures our ancestors believed that a menstrual cycle was a sacred time for women.🌛

Now I will discuss the 4 different moon cycles and what they tell us about what stage we are in life.

The White Moon cycle: this is the most common cycle as it means your menses flow on the new moon, meaning ovulation for you occurs on the full moon. With the full moon being known as the most fertile phase this indicates that you are in the role of the nurturer of your current family, children, or even yourself. This can also indicate you are ready for children or just in your motherly, nurturing phase. For those of you who have a white moon cycle you follow the natural cycles of earth. This cycle is known as the “good mother” archetype. This is a time where you have lots of fertile energy and anything you want to give birth to you have the power to do so whether it be a baby, idea, or project. When you are bleeding give yourself time for self-care, recharge, rest and turn your focus inward instead of giving your energy outward.

The Red Moon cycle: this is when you ovulate with the new moon and bleed during the full moon. It is said that these women are healers and witches. This cycle is known as the “wise woman” archetype, the healer, wisdom keeper, and magic-maker. The healer was known as a woman who knew how to manage their healing power and magic; they were also known as the seductress and enchantress. The red moon cycle belongs to the medicine woman, the healers, the wisdom keepers and midwives of the community. Their energy was not used or focused on birthing babies but instead it was used to take care of the other women in the community. If you are on this cycle your energy is to focus on self-actualization and use that to help empower other women. Over time and due to the patriarchal society this cycle was linked to “evil woman” .While on your period this is a good time to focus on yourself and your passions, be creative and also a time to tap into your powers and the spiritual world.

The Purple Moon cycle: This is for those who menstruate on the waning moon- when the full moon is transiting into the new moon. If you bleed during this time it means you are in a transitional stage of your life, you are making a shift just like the moon is going from full moon to new moon; you are shifting into a place of darkness and rest. Use this time to reflect on your life and what isn't working for you any longer. This is a time to dig deeper into your inner wisdom, this is a stage in your life where you are going through a metamorphosis or a spiritual awakening. This is a time where you are learning to use your feminine powers in a more potent way. This moon cycle is connected with the enchantress archetype , you are deeply spiritual and are more wild, fierce and powerful at this stage in your life. You are being called to take a deeper look deep inside you and your life. You also are looking for a deeper meaning for life so you may be called to take a deep look at people and things in your life and how you want to proceed from here on out as you are in an internal transitional stage. While on your period this is a good time to hibernate, meditate, reflect, and explore your higher self, a time to learn more about yourself and what your true desires and passions are, as well as leaving behind anything that no longer works or is aligned with the new path you want to take.

The Pink Moon cycle: this is for those who bleed or start their period during a waxing moon, it is similar to the purple moon cycle as you are going through a transition stage. This is opposite of the purple moon cycle of course as you are moving on from a period of rest and darkness and going into a place of light, you are coming out of a time of resting and walking into a stage of strength, power, light, and love. This is known as the Maiden archetype or the Go-getter, you are full of enthusiasm, mental clarity and physical strength. You are ready to take on the world. Think of it as moving on from the new moon and making your way to the full moon which is when the moon is at its brightest phase it illuminates the night sky with its brightness. During this stage you may be struggling with finding yourself or finding your place in this new stage of self discovery. You may be in a phase of growing into adult womanhood, you may be maturing from a young girl into a woman and it can also be a struggling time as you are leaving behind the little girl and maturing. At this time you feel ready to make bold moves. During your period it is a good time to plan instead of acting on the moves you want to take, think thoroughly and or meditate on the impulses you have. During this moon cycle it is important to have freedom and allow yourself freedom to follow your heart.

Hogwarts Mystery Cardverse AU: Ace of Clubs Bio - Cato Reese

The Cardverse AU and it’s storyline was created by my friend and mutual @ariparri. Veruca McQuaid belongs to her. Helena, Alessandro and Olivia Durazzo belong to @helenadurazzo.

Cato Reese was born to an affluent family in the Land of Clubs. His father Wilfred worked for the government, while his mother Reilly was a researcher. She studied and wrote books on plants that could be used for medicine and healing. Cato also had an older brother named Alexander.

Because of her job, she became friends with another researcher named Olivia before her son was born. Olivia later got married to Alessandro, a man from another upper-class family. They had a daughter named Helena @helenadurazzo. Cato and Helena would grow up as childhood friends and bond closer as they got older.

Both of his parents encouraged him to learn and do well in school. He became interested in and talented at many subjects in his studies. History, geography, government and science, among others. Cato also developed hobbies with exploring and nature. He was a curious boy that in time would come to learn a lot about his homeland and the other kingdoms.

When Cato was growing up, the Land of Clubs was a nation that preferred to stay neutral and involve itself in the affairs of others. The military was responsible for protecting the people from crime. As a boy, Cato admired their dedication to their mission. He wanted to join the service and do his part to keep his community safe.

He realized the vulnerability that the Clubs had when he became a teenager. An enemy might take advantage of the country's neutrality as an easy target and launch an invasion through it. This had a chance at putting the other kingdoms in danger. This realization would further cement his goal of becoming Ace of Clubs, the commander of the nation's army.

After graduating school, Cato enrolled at a military academy that trained new officers for the service. His friend Helena went to college to study for her goal of becoming the Jack, the King's advisor. While they attended different schools as young adults, they would keep in contact during their studies. They got along over their similar mindsets and what they wanted for their country.

Over his time in the academy Cato's leadership style would develop. As Ace, he wanted to put the people first while making sure that the army would be in good shape should an invasion ever happen. He was never the type to go picking fights, but understood that if one wants peace, they should also be prepared for war.

A few years later, he graduated and got an officer's commission. Cato would rise up the ranks and become Ace of Clubs. After, he would start by making sure that his army was well-trained and the troops were in good health. He had training exercises carried out in the woods for practice. Soldiers honed their skills in various forms of combat, physical activity, as well as battle strategy and tactics. Meditation was encouraged as a way to raise morale and spirits.

As he was also responsible for carrying out and enforcing Laws in the Land of Clubs, he took steps in ensuring that his force was effective at fighting crime. Investigation, negotiation and handling of suspects were priorities. He also emphasized on the military working with the citizens in investigating crime. The people of Clubs knew their land and they would pool their knowledge and skills to track criminals hiding in the forest.

Cato was already Ace of Clubs for a time when turmoil struck the neighboring Country of Spades to the north. The state had fallen to a coup and was now being ruled by a dictatorship led by Patricia Rakepick. She cut off trade and relations with the other kingdoms. However, the original leadership of the Spades managed to escape and sought help from their neighbors. By this time, Orion Amari had become King of Clubs. Before the crisis, Orion was already good friends with Veruca McQuaid @ariparri, the Queen of Spades. Orion agreed to help Veruca. He would have the border between their countries be monitored by the Clubs army led by Cato. Cato's forces would keep an eye out for any invaders that would try to attack or sneak past the border.

When faced with the crisis, Cato had to make a decision. His people still preferred neutrality but there was the risk that Rakepick would try to invade the other kingdoms through the Land of Clubs, which concerned the other kingdoms. The border between the Spades and the Hearts was lined with mountains, which no army could cross. Cato was loyal to the people, the King and his good close friend Helena, the Jack. Ultimately, he decided to take measures to ensure that the Clubs army would be prepared for any escalation in the tense political situation. Cato said "If you want peace, be prepared for war."

Okay,

Chrysania would do numbers on hashtag positivity social media for her bland statements about loving everyone, being soft and kind and living in the light ect etc, before being cancelled bone stealing witch style for the most insane shit you've ever heard of. Now she constantly posts "I can fix him" memes about Raistlin in between Teal Swan style meditation videos. She refuses to believe anyone who says Raistlin is gay. Dalamar stitches her tiktoks with his own vague implications that he and Raistlin are boning, which enrages her, but every time she blocks him he just makes a new side account to troll her.

Kitiara does numbers for posting videos of dragon-riding and swordfighting stunts as well as slow-mo videos of her taking off her helm and shaking her hair out. Everyone loves the bi butch dragon highlord hashtag queen. She makes one dramatic apology video about how sorry she is for joining Takhisis' army and how she only did it to get a life beyond being the stand-in mother for her twin brothers and to heal from her toxic relationship with Tanis, hashtag feminism, and she didn't even really kill anyone anyway in fact she led Tanis to Takhisis! and everyone forgives her instantly. Every so often a true crime podcast tries to report on how she's actually planning world domination but they get absolutely destroyed by her fandom and then, reportedly, a blue dragon.

Raistlin doesn't know social media exists and wouldn't use it if he did but Dalamar exclusively posts meme videos and tiktok dances with stories about nefarious goings-on in the Tower of High Sorcery. Everyone loves the stone-faced gangly elf lad doing an awkward dance while the text says the shoikan trees ate another guy today, it was gross, they like ripped his legs off with their weird hand roots and Shalafi made me go bury the rest of him so it wouldn't smell. Anyway if you're looking for a Knight of Solamnia with long blond hair and a tattoo of the name Laurana on his ass I have some bad news. Oh wait that's every Knight of Solamnia sorry. I got to keep his cool dagger tho

Tanis tries very hard to be an influencer but every 3 months or so he alienates one half of his fanbase or the other by either shaving his beard or growing it out again and making obnoxious declarations about identifying with his evil human side or good elf side. People constantly try and explain to him that humans are not all evil and elves are not all good and he really, like really needs therapy. They know a good half-elf therapist too, and she doesn't charge too mu-- oh shit they're blocked.

Laurana has a very serious account where she discusses the political relations between the different factions that came out of the War of the Lance and everyone begs her to divorce Tanis because she could do so much better, why is she playing wifey in Qualinesti when she could be leading Palanthas? She's seriously considering it. Also, Kitiara likes all of her posts and it's rumoured the two are making up after their long enmity that primarily revolved around them both dating Tanis at one point or another.

(Re)Introduction

Clothing choices are so important in The Chronicles that Anne sometimes sounded a lot like Tara Gilesbie when describing her characters. And while cut and fabric remain fairly uniform over the series and cross-character, where the real intrigue lies is in color choice.

In this series, I will be examining the choices in wardrobe color for three of Anne's characters; Lestat, Marius, and Armand.

You may also have noticed that I did this already. The original version of this post was my return to writing meta after a very long break. I was clearly rusty, but too excited at having 'completed' a post to keep myself from posting it. This is the much improved version of this meta.

Where my last meta moved through the Chronicles in sequence, this entry will be more of a meditation on color motifs.

Marius (Redux)

He’ll wrap you in his arms

Tell you that you’ve been a good boy

He’ll rekindle all the dreams

It took you a lifetime to destroy

Like a dull blaze before me I saw his red velvet clothes, the cloak that covered him to the ground, the dark red gloved hands with which he held me. -The Vampire Lestat, p. 362

While red was a color more or less assigned to Lestat through a complex series of situations, Marius chose red for himself.

Where Lestat's personality embodies red's more rambunctious attributes, Marius embodies red's more passionate and authoritative aspects.

Red is a color of strength–which in Anne’s world means taking stoicism ‘to the max’. And there is no other character as emotionally constipated as Marius.

But that doesn’t mean that Marius doesn’t also typify the passion that red also symbolizes. In the next meta series I will be working on, I will more elaborately explain, but for now I’ll just say that Marius exhibits a pattern of denial and desire (much like another character that may get his own bonus entry in this color series).

And at the heart of this never ending denial/desire cycle are the twin traits of passion and willpower.

From color-meanings.com:

Dark red is associated with energy, willpower, rage, anger, leadership, courage, longing and evil.

The ugly side of passion, of course, is rage and anger. This is illustrated perfectly with a literal crime of passion he commits in the last installment of the Chronicles:

“That’s ridiculous!” said Marius. “I murdered another blood drinker. I broke the very rules that I’ve written as binding for all of us.” He looked from me to Gregory. “Yea gods,” he said angrily, “are we to make rules for young blood drinkers throughout the world and break those laws ourselves in moments of passion?” –Blood Communion, p. 48

Marius is a deeply, passionately emotional character, as much as he would prefer others believe to the contrary. (For more on this topic, refer to this post I made about breaking down the scene quoted above.)

Marius's love of red goes back millennia. When describing for Lestat how he was turned, he tells us he was wearing the Roman clothes he'd been abducted in: A linen tunic with gold buckles and a red cloak (TVL, p. 427)

Even though he was the illegitimate child of his father and one of his father's slaves, he still would have been considered a member of the upper classes, and so that tunica would have been white.

(A fun thing to note--that I know Anne probably wasn't aware of--is that red and white together were associated with death in ancient Rome. Very fitting for an outfit to die in.) [x]

An interesting thing to consider about color in ancient Rome is that Romans viewed color to be on a spectrum of brightness. For instance, gold was a very bright color and was described as having a lot of light in it. [x] Yellow and red shades are reminiscent of fire, and fiery (IE: bright) colors were associated with life, marriage, and death as well as being linked to divine forces. [x]

I have spoken briefly in an off the cuff post about Marius’s tenuous status in Rome. He would have technically been upper class thanks to his Paterfamilias, but thanks to his mother’s genes, he was of obvious foreign ancestry. He was demonstrably an outsider. And so it would stand to reason that Marius—self-important, taking pride in being a Roman, perhaps being treated with some trepidation by Italian-borne Romans—would choose for himself a color that signaled his significance. As though saying to those who would treat him as an outsider, “I, too, am important and my personhood is inescapable. As ubiquitous as breathing, bleeding, loving and dying.”

Back in the Amadeo days, gold acted as Marius’s preferred way to contrast his red clothes.

Red had been his badge of pride, red velvet–a flowing cape, and magnificently embroidered doublet, and beneath it a tunic of gold silk tissue, so very popular in those times. –TVA, pages 9-10

His connection to the color gold at first seems quite shallow. So he used it as an accessory color and had a bunch of literal gold. Was that really excuse enough to name his novel Blood and Gold? I can’t tell you, as it’s not my job to answer for Anne (thank GOD). But I can tell you that the color gold is featured in two very interesting scenes when it comes to Marius’s character development.

My Master stood in the very center of the hall. He had taken off his familiar red velvet. He wore only an open robe of gold tissue, with long bell sleeves down to his wrists, his hem just skirting his bare white feet. –TVA, page 165

According to color-meanings.com, the effects of the color gold on the psyche include enlightening, inspiring, uplifting, and influencing. And in addition to characteristics we’ll discuss in a minute, gold’s further attributes include being passionate, much like red.

If we were to do what we did with Lestat’s Wolf Killer cloak with this scene, we can read further into the meaning behind these two colors in this instance.

Here we have Marius stripping away his usual heavy red fabrics (the weightiness of being so in control and so outwardly strong) to reveal a sheer gold fabric. Here we see him showing transparency about his motivations in this scene��he’s enlightening Armand on the mysteries of immortality. He views what he’s doing here as the final step in uplifting his young paramour out of an ugly past, because of how passionately he feels about him.

I would be remiss if I didn’t also touch upon the religious implications attached to the color gold–especially from Armand’s point of view where the color gold is so important to icons.

His hair seemed to make for him a halo of yellow brilliance, hanging softly to his shoulders. -TVA, page 165

Here we see the religious aspects of gold highlighting how Marius has finally overtaken the role of God in Amadeo’s eyes.

The second time the color appears in a scene that is important to his character development comes in Prince Lestat.

When had it happened that arterial blood was not enough, and he must rip out the heart and suck it dry also? […] But he’d kept a trophy, as he so often did–not just the thousands in American dollars in drug money that the victim had been carrying, but a fine gold Patek Philippe watch. Why had he done that? -PL, page 130

I wrote a whole post as to why I found this whole chapter so shocking, so I won’t waste too much time here repeating myself.

Up until this point, the most decadent kill we’ve witnessed from Marius was him killing an entire party of men in TVA. But even then, there was an air of control exerted by Marius–hard to lose yourself to a hedonistic haze when you’re so busy discussing politics. The whole scene reads as a boast of a sort–as though he’s saying to Armand, “Witness not only what I can do, but how I choose to do it. Watch how the monster hides in plain sight–how I can kill a room full of men one by one as the survivors suspect nothing. Look at my skill, my intellect.”

From color-meanings.com:

The color gold has an alarmingly inflated ego. While confidence is admirable, smugness is unbecoming. Unfortunately, the color gold has a hard time reining in its pride. To some, the color gold is pretentious. When worn in excess, the color gold can appear ostentatious and flashing. The color gold means well, but humility certainly isn’t its strong suit.

It is interesting, then, in this scene in Brazil that Marius would have stolen an ostentatious gold watch after taking up a habit he’s barely hiding his shame and confusion about.

We indeed met Marius at a very weird time in his life in Prince Lestat.

Which brings us to…

Care-taking is a major part of Marius’s identity.

It began in his mortal life, when he would work on writing down his ‘history of the world’. Historians, I would argue, care take the past in the same ways gardeners care take plants—nourishing what feeds them while pruning and weeding out the things that do not serve them and their versions of events.

From there, his immortal life for centuries revolved around care taking Akasha and Enkil.

But care taking for things that either cannot speak or will not speak would obviously feel hollow after a while, and so he filled his house with young boys to care for (before shifting all of his attention to Amadeo).

For a short time, he was the one that needed taking care of by Bianca. But as soon as he was able, he was back to taking care of the Parents.

Which is much how his life would continue until Akasha’s rise and fall, until Daniel came under his care. Which would have become his driving force for a time.

But when we meet up with Marius and Daniel again in Prince Lestat, Daniel has since returned to his sense and is more or less willfully submitting himself to Marius’s care. But care taking for someone who is able to advocate for themself and doesn’t technically ‘need’ you would also be unfulfilling for someone like Marius.

He is once more a man without purpose, a man with little identity. And his wardrobe before uniting with the Coven of the Articulate (and the rest of the expanding cast of characters) reflects this.

We see him painting flowers with his nondescript pockets having been stuffed full of acrylic paint tubes (PL, p. 129). (For more of my thoughts on this scene, please refer to this post). We know these clothes are normal mortal garb, as when confronted with police telling him he can’t be painting on random walls, nothing is said about them being suspicious of his strange clothes.

Later, we see him walking the beach with Daniel in khaki, with his sandals tied to his belt (PL, p. 210).

And when he and Daniel finally make it to Trinity Gate, he arrives wearing “a dark dinner jacket and white turtleneck” (PL, p. 263)

We don’t see him returning to himself until p. 364, where he’s in one of Armand’s libraries pouring over a history book in a deep red velvet ‘cassock’.

Indeed, he is in his usual red velvet for the rest of the final two installments of the Chronicles (Realms of Atlantis, p. 216 and p. 415 and Blood Communion, p. 12 and p. 204), at which point he is care taking all of vampire kind through writing their laws and acting as Lestat’s Prime Minister.

A major tell for how things are going in Marius’s personal life is observing how much of the color gray he is wearing. The first instance of this is in Queen of the Damned:

The blond-haired figure in the red velvet coat read the declaration over again from his comfortable vantage point in the far corner. His eyes were almost invisible behind his dark tinted glasses and the brim of his gray hat. He wore gray suede gloves, and his arms were folded over his chest as he leaned back against the high black wainscoting, one boot heel hooked on the rung of his chair. -QotD, page 14

(Let’s save how much his body language in this scene mirrors Lestat’s for a different post.)

At this point, things could be worse. Is Lestat making an ass out of himself and potentially endangering all of vampire kind? Sure. The potential for calamity is there, but Marius still being mainly in his signature red lets us know that he’s still feeling very much in control of the world around him. Like he’s waiting to see where the chips may fall so that he might swoop in and play hero when the time comes for clean up.

Any anxiety the situation may engender is manageable.

The next time we see Marius in gray unsurprisingly also is due to Lestat’s shenanigans.

He let his snow-white hand rest on the dull satiny banister. He wore a long shapeless cloak of gray velvet, once perfectly extravagant, now downplayed with wear and rain […]. -TVA, page 7

Lestat’s in a coma. Armand is back and he’s brought two mortal children he’s immediately dumped on his door. Pandora is there, too. Did I mention Lestat is in a coma?? And that’s it’s thrown their whole social circle in turmoil? And also young vampires with boundary issues keep showing up to try to (proverbially) poke Lestat with a stick?

There’s a lot on his plate at this point, and so we get a full gray cloak instead of just gray accessories.

And of course, we have to revisit the most iconic Marius Meltdown ™, as featured first in The Vampire Armand:

He was painting furiously when I returned. He was high on a scaffold […] He wore a bedraggled gray tunic that hung down to his feet. -TVA, pages 88-89

Armand mistakes Marius’s state as being due to him being away from the palazzo for so long, when in reality its due to Marius relentlessly praying at Akasha to tell him what to do about his love for Armand and Akasha giving him nothing but silence and confusion on the matter.

We know from Blood and Gold that Marius drove himself half crazy over what to do about Armand. Throughout the book, he lies to the reader, Thorne, and himself about when he decided he was going to bring Armand into the blood when we all know damn good and well that the decision was made as soon as his eyes fell upon Andrei. Well, all of us save for Marius. I don’t know that he’d ever be able to admit that to himself.

Marius is not a man who enjoys being beholden to anyone, but he is a believer in hierarchies. He is a lover of rules. It would track that when faced with a desire he cannot compel himself to deny, he would plead his case to a being he views as more powerful than himself–the first of their kind, Akasha.

And when he’s not given what he wants (explicit permission to change the young boy he’s become obsessed with), obviously he loses his shit.

According to color-meanings.com:

While gray appreciates humor and lightheartedness, there’s a time and place for such silly matters. When dealing with the color gray, expect to take things seriously. […] It has little tolerance for immaturity and foolishness. In other words, gray can be uptight. Some would even say gray is a control freak. For those who don’t respond well to direction or rules, you’ll likely find a foe in the color gray. […] Deep shades of gray are associated with depression and loneliness. […] Dark gray is serious, solemn and inflexible. It is associated with self-denial and self-discipline. […] Stepping out of its comfort zone is something that gray would never consider. […] Every decision is accompanied by severe overthinking […] A mixture of black and white, gray is the best of both worlds. It doesn’t lead with emotions, which is why it’s unusually detached. Gray is aloof. This can sometimes come off as snobbish, but gray stays at a distance because it doesn’t know any better.

Marius in gray is symbolic of his fear of a lack of control–of feeling useless while still trying to steer whatever ship he finds himself upon.

We rarely see Marius in a mix of red and gray because the emotionalism of gray clashes so heavily with that of red. In other words, he either feels completely in control of a situation, or completely out of control of a situation. Rarely do the two ends of this spectrum meet.

Though we do see him in a mix of gray and black in one of most emotional scenes to date.

His hair was tangled from the wind and still matted with dried blood. The simple gray wool jacket and pants he had taken from the ruins of his house barely gave him any warmth. -QotD, page 264

What’s more, the above passage goes on to read:

He brought the heavy black cloak close around him, not because the night required it, but because he was still chilled and sore from the wind. -QotD, page 264

Thats right, he was wearing his most “vulnerable” color (plus black, the color of depression and loss) when he reunited with Armand.

And while standing in the shadow of the compound Marius may be feeling rageful towards all of vampire kind (understandable after the night he’s had), the moment he gets within arms reach of Armand, he completely breaks down.

He couldn’t help himself. He was weeping. -QotD, page 274

Indeed, we even get an admission that is quite shocking when you take into account Marius’s pridefulness:

How many times over the years had he dreamed of such a reunion, and he had never had the courage for it […] -QotD, page 273

So if the rare occurrence of Marius wearing mainly red with gray accessories symbolizes him feeling uncertain of but still in control of a situation, then Marius in all gray with a cloak of black signals him being at his very lowest point.

The point where admissions and tears that would otherwise be held under lock and key get their chance to slip out.

There are two interesting (from a character study point of view) instances of Marius wearing colors other than red, and both occurred during the days of Venice.

The first occurs on p. 240 of TVA. The scene takes place after his and Amadeo’s return from Russia, when Amadeo refuses to return to his studies. For this, Marius wakes him with a switching.

I turned over and looked up. I was startled. He stood, holding the long switch, with his arms folded. He wore a long belted tunic of purple velvet and his hair was tied back at the base of his neck. -TVA, p. 240

Upon having turned Armand, Marius must have felt as though he owned him completely. But Armand has always been stubborn and willful, so that was never going to work out the way Marius had hoped.

Purple was perhaps the ultimate status symbol in ancient Rome. In later antiquity, it became the color of Emperors. In Marius’s time, it would have been the color magistrates wore. Magistrates in ancient Rome were one of the highest ranking government officers, and possessed both judicial and executive powers.

Marius dressing himself in purple in this scene is indicative of his need to feel ultimate control over the destiny of his young fledgling by acting as judge, jury, and executioner all in one. Placing himself in the role of the one who governs Armand’s life moving forward.

Another interesting addition to Marius’s wardrobe comes in the form of how he decided to dress himself and Amadeo the first time they visit Bianca after Amadeo has been turned.

Marius had dressed for the occasion in smart dark blue velvet, with a cloak of the same color for once, which was unusual for him, and he urged me to dress in sky blue, his favorite color for me. -TVA, p. 245

This instance was more than just a friendly visit. It was a PR move. Bianca was at Amadeo’s side as he laid on his deathbed. She saw how far gone he was.

But she also had an intuitive understanding of what was going on, at least in a vague way. She understood early on that Marius and Amadeo were lovers. She knew there was something otherworldly about Marius, even if she didn't know exactly that he was a vampire.

Dressing them in the same color (Marius in the darker, more “mature” shade and Amadeo in the lighter, “immature” shade) signals an equality of sorts—that while Marius is still Master and Amadeo apprentice, they are now both ‘cut from the same cloth’, so to speak.

It's also interesting to note here that in ancient Rome, blue was a color of mourning. Appropriate, as mortal Amadeo literally just died a scant few pages before this scene.

Conclusion

Marius is a character for whom control is greatly important. Control of his lovers, of his environment, and of his perception–both how he views himself and how others view him.

Even when showing vulnerably, his weakness shows up as shades of gray–a color still known for its own power plays.

Marius is a complex character. His Nordic looking features compliment his haughty nature to create an outward appearance of icy reservedness. All the while inside, he is constantly at war with his sense of raging desire, pride, and anger.

Today’s reading from the ancient books of Proverbs and Psalms

for April 4 of 2024 with Proverbs 4 and Psalm 4, accompanied by Psalm 17 for the 17th day of Astronomical Spring and Psalm 95 for day 95 of the year (with the consummate book of 150 Psalms in its 1st revolution this year)

[Proverbs 4]

Gather, children, to hear your father’s instruction.

Pay close attention so you will understand,

For I am passing down to you important precepts.

Do not abandon these valuable life lessons.

Back when I was young—the very image of my father,

I have mixed attitude towards c-dramas, i don't really like them, however there are such gems of a pairings sometimes - like Jiang Cheng and wwx, or scorpion and his yifu. They often have intrigueing premise and idea, and absolutely DON'T follow it through. The only chinese drama i enjoyed throughly, without ignoring a mess (because there wasn't any mess) is "Ruyi's love in the palace". It was amazing not because of brilliant acting, or costumes, even tho it did have all of that. It was amazing because every word had a weight, and every action had a consequence, every issue was addressed, and there wasn't even a hint of 'modern values'. characters felt real. real people of different time. And human feelings are universal. 99% of ancient puppets genre c-dramas fail to deliver that. I know they aren't historical they're fantasy at best and idol cosplay show at worst, but they don't even try to create athmosphere of 'old times'. I guess they really are made for teens, but when i was a teen i also couldn't watch it without cringing - they were too juvenile for my taste. They don't make me care about anyone as a viewer - any wounded will heal, any thousand years old evil will be easily defeated by rag tag team of boy band members, they bleeding from their mouths and go about their day. They constantly talk about immense sacrifices like waiting for a lover for billion years, meditating for another billion, but it's so unrealistic and impossible to take seriously especially when characters never deny themselves anything even on small-scale everyday level. 1)

MJTY is also guilty of this. FL is supposed to be villain protagonist yet they're so afraid for her to be treated like a villain. When she gets discovered her targets start defending and saving her? This craziness alone turned me off of this show. Yet GSJ and GYZ get accused of all crimes for breathing. They're doing and saying the right thing in majority of scenes but everyone looks at them like they are demons. The director loves BL and incest (considering his previous works) so it's given that shangzhi is his faves. So evil angle they get probably is for fetish fuel reasons, to make their hotness too hot to handle. And still, i hated that. They're treated like enemies in their own family for working hard on its prosperity and actual enemies get love and protection. YWS never openly renounced her evil ways, never asked for forgiveness, she just acted like nothing happened, her spy and killer nature is swept under the rug. It's a big fail of the show. All other characters are just fools who want to destroy their own clan. That's what it looks like. Now, as i gather from weibo, they're testing the waters for second season and milking the second cp. Obviously, there's nothing more stupid than to make qian someone's housewife, and as if shangjue will bring home such devious and morally corrupt person to play happy family with (the very home she worked hard to destroy, to the people she worked very hard to hurt). That's murder and disrespect of their respective characters. Betraying everyone and yourself for insane "love" is a good plot for a tragedy, but it has to be perfectly written. there wasn't love between these characters and they're both level-headed people so logical possibility of that storyline is zero. But they will be molded into meaningless happy end romance, with everyone cheering. In my opinion, the ending of MJTY is satisfying as it is. Does anyone really need baby drama and love brained shangjue? That's the opposite of what he's like and why he attracted fans in the first place 2)

I'm not saying that this is a 'reason' or an 'excuse' as to why certain promising premise falls through in cdramaland, but honestly speaking, censors and cash play a VERY big role in what ends up on screens and this isn't something we can deny. How many shows and movies have filmed scenes/scripts/sequences/storylines that were completely dropped at the Nth hour for "reasons"? Profit pays a big role in what gets aired, and from the get-go, cdramas aren't the places to be if you're looking for morally grey/villain MCs that allowed to be morally grey/villainous/unrepentant (or in YWS's case, allowed to work for redemption). That's not the way it works. Which sucks, admittedly if you (like me) enjoy that kinda of stuff.

In response to your statements regarding 'Does anyone really need baby drama and love brained shangjue?', I may be kicking the hornet's nest here, but just as I was the intended audience for Word of Honor, I am not the target audience for The Untamed. And that's okay :) Your Mileage Will Vary when it comes to what's 'good' and what's 'bad'. Someone will enjoy the baby drama and love brained shangjue, though that someone will not be me and I am thinking it won't be you too.

And again, that's okay. As long as you're not going around being a dick to people who would and will enjoy that content, you'll be fine.

After all, as I've heard said by some people who say it with their whole chest with no regard to how entitled it can come across, variety is the spice of life :)

Next in The Satan Seller, Mike claims that Sue invokes the blood and resurrection of Jesus to banish a demon that attacks Mike and allegedly throws him off of his bed. (Good thing the demon didn't decide to inflict more lethal damage, right?)

Then Mike soon gets sent off to Vietnam, and it's horrible, and it strains his faith. He comes home, undergoes therapy (which of course doesn't do much for him), gets back to religion (which of course does do something for him), and then for the first time he learns about baptism in the Holy Spirit. At first he resists the idea, but then he accepts it and prays for Jesus to give him the Holy Spirit.

(We're developing a bit of a pattern here - Mike Develops A Problem, Mike Discovers A New Jesus-y Solution, Mike's Problem Gets Solved.)

Also, it's More Misogyny Time:

So Mike and his wife Sue both undergo a vital (according to this book) religious rite together, but it's just Mike's show??? Like, either...

He basically had his own wife convinced that he's the Christian Faith's Main Character, or

He's making up shit to position himself as the Christian Faith's Main Character.

Apparently a side effect of getting the Holy Spirit is wanting to speak out about the occult even more, which again, there is literally no evidence that Warnke was ever seriously involved in. Does he show some knowledge of the occult? Sure, yeah. But it's about as much as anyone might know from some casual dabbling. The rest is all conspiracy theory that has nothing to do with actual occult practice or belief except insofar as edgelords adopted some it after the ideas entered into the public consciousness. The conspiratorial designs he ascribes to his Satanic Illuminati are lifted straight from early modern witch hysteria and antisemitic conspiracy theories.

So anyway, here's what he claimed that he and a friend went around claiming about the occult:

We discovered that these cases were not traceable just to Satanists but were linked to specific occult practices, such as tarot cards, astrology, witchcraft, reincarnation, astral projection, ESP, thought transfer, and mysticism.”

“Well, that certainly debunks the witches’ case,” Sue pointed out. “But which practices are considered occult and which are not?”

“In America, about eighty different occults are practiced. Some of the more popular ones are those we just mentioned, plus Ouija boards, spiritualism, table tipping, levitation, hypnosis, clairvoyance, numerology, reading tea leaves, phrenology, colorology, water divining, automatic writing, clairaudience, psychokinesis, pendulum healing, crystal gazing, dream analysis, person programming, mind control, fortune telling, materializations, voodoo, palmistry, meditation, white — magic, I Ching, telepathy, fetishes, talismans, seances . . . ”

So essentially, if you practice literally anything that isn't Pure Wholesome Christianity™, you're a murderer waiting to happen.

Literally all modern magical practitioner take note - it doesn't matter what you practice or not, it doesn't matter if all you're doing is tarot readings, the Satanic Panic targets you. Always has.

NEW BEGINNINGS, JULY 1-31, 2023

Truth is timeless, and no amount of relativism can change it... It is as immutable as the laws of nature, the laws of creation, and the laws of the Creator... While many argue that the Word should not be taken 100% literally, and some would be remiss trying to appropriate all its ordinances especially the ones specifically meant for the Jewish people and not all of humanity in the modern times, one would also err not to take the ten commandments seriously for they are universal: murder, lying, adultery, stealing are all crimes against another, causing untold suffering and pain... As we go about our daily lives, may we hold on to the Word as a compass--of morality, reflection, and guidepost in our struggles and relationships... It is a mine of ideas and principles, and wisdom can guide us to discover the pearls hidden in it, those that may give us grace, knowledge, and strength, and enable us to continue our journey in hope and faith...

No mean bone... A recent article stated what sociologists and behavioral scientists observe these days: that people have generally become meaner, ruder, more selfish and abusive, greedier, and more prone to defraud or at the very least, take advantage of other people's goodness, understanding and generosity... And they have identified the cause to the general existential crises brought about by the pandemic, climate armageddon, wars, political and economic upheavals that compound upon humanity these past and current years... But in God's family, we are called to respect, take care, and encourage one another (the true, 'not-giving-up-on-the-meeting' essence)... Sadly though, it is often the church body where people experience first hand and most painfully, intolerance and abuse, greed and oppression, scam and lies, pretense and flattery... Yet, the Word reminds us how to live and thrive until the end: love and respect one another, especially those whom we feel are weaker, slower, less capacitated and abled, and whom we perceive lower in socio-economic status... Because all God's children are beautiful and precious in His sight, no matter the age, size, gender, personality and preferences... All are equipped to heal, to nurture, to care, to pour out His grace and love; and all are gifted to serve Him whom we do not see by giving to and serving our fellowmen whom we can see but especially feel are far from life's good graces and favors... May we truly fulfill our commission of being His children and heirs, His disciples and disciplers, in everything we do, everyday, every moment that we can...

In quietness is strength... Is one shining example we should emulate from our Savior... It is not the claps, the stars, the empty flattery and acknowledgements, the vain praise and recognition that measures how far and successful we have come in life... But the one who truly succeeds has learned the balance: between meaningful work, and down times spent in prayer and communion with Him, with our thoughts, and with His natural creation... Yes, we can make our paid hours count with productive labor; yes, we can build connections through fellowships with friends and brethren; but those ties, those mental and emotional exercises lie only in this lifetime, while our sanity and consciousness last... The one connection that we can keep forever though, beyond awareness, beyond consciousness, beyond our physical existence, is the time we spent with Him in personal prayer and meditation, that grounds us, but vertically aligns us, and holds our souls and spirits firm and strong for all time...

The long view... My elders oftentimes measure people by how far they see or how long their vision in life maybe... Which I observe is always one key question in the many job interviews I've had over the course of my career... It seems not just in the secular world but spiritually too, we need to have a far vision of the future, even stretching to eternity, though we may not always be certain about it... And so we consider each other by the same crucible that determines faith and endurance--even in marriage and building a family, in work and career: we look beyond to what we see in the moment, we weigh the degree of commitment in our relations and connections by how each of us see the future and what we want to do with it... May we likewise do so in all aspects of our lives...

Only Gen X and Millennials could understand; but we take this to mean that when we encounter people who are hard to deal with, we maintain the poise and grace that befits a true princess--in our case, a daughter or child of God, and still keep our sanity, wisdom and peace; until the truth comes out, we are set free from misunderstanding and oppression, and will then be free to be ourselves, to do the best we can in helping make life better for one and all... We need all that grace, and a heaping of hope and confidence too, with much humility and wisdom; to make others see the light in us, that they too may learn to trust and hope, not get envious, insecure, vindictive or abusive... May we tap into our eternal source of goodness and love, our Heavenly Father, and fulfill the mission He charged us with, all the rest of our days...

Whether we be beset by troubles and problems, whether rejected or abandoned, as long as we do not lose hope and stay confident and content in the promises that our God has given us; and as long as we do not forget that as He had been so good to us in the past, so will He continue to do good to us in the future, then we can go on and thrive... For our journey will always be full of challenges peppered with moments of joy; but hope and love, , faith and trust in the One who called us will keep us safe, sane, at peace, and on the path of what is good and right...

Room for sadness and pain... We all have days when we are down, when we feel life and people seem to seemingly beat us black and blue and push us down, not always physically, but especially mentally and emotionally; so that we feel despair at every turn... Yet, our loving Father and Savior has never left us without light and hope... As He promised, a more glorious, happy and pain-free future awaits those of us who endure our journey in hope and faith... Yes, we will ultimately all go home; and we can bring nothing beyond but our faith, our connection with Him who promised to welcome us there at the entrance... And so, may every grief and sadness, resentment and sorrow be laid down today, measured to their proper size, and even moments of gladness and joy, wealth and winnings be taken in the light of His provision, in gratitude that they help us along in our journey, as we come closer and closer to our ultimate home...

Hope springs eternal... Might be an old, tired cliché, but still rings true in our time today... Yes, many of us can drown our sorrows and worries through the momentary distractions of social and entertainment media; but without hope in a better future, we would still have to face bouts of depression and loneliness... Yet our Savior has given us hope through His promises of never leaving us, and of always caring for and providing for us... May we hold on to that, and spend our days more confidently, humbly, and in wisdom, generosity and grace...

Praying for live souls... There is a tradition among many religions around the world, of praying to and for dead ancestors and relatives... Maybe the main purpose is not really always for the salvation of their souls from whatever after-death torment we believe they may be in, because salvation is a personal, individual working out while alive; but rather it works more toward the one who prayed, for peace of mind, to allay our own fears of being haunted, and to continue a tradition that we hope will also be done to us when it's our time to go... But no matter the reason, it seems prayer finds its purpose in helping us keep our sanity by settling our minds... Often, we don't get the answers right away, or know when our prayer have come true and borne fruit; but when we pray, for ourselves and others, we acknowledge our weakness and helplessness, and our ultimate dependence on the One Who gave us life... And that connection He promised will never be severed even through time, age and distance... May we pray always, everyday, each moment that we can, for whomever, for whatever, whenever...

Salt and light... Salt flavors and cleanses; light illuminates, and separates from the unclear to the transparent... And so it seems with one truly filled by the Spirit of God... Without even anyone looking--either the secular world, physically or online, in the absence of people we want to impress; if we can bring hope and love to a world awash in fear and hate, anxiety and misunderstanding; if we can bring clarity to the confused, truth, not our own opinions and imaginations but the realities of the times we profess to obey, and the realities of our time... Then we know His Holy Spirit has borne fruit in us, and we can confidently proclaim we have been baptized and immersed in it...

Verbal diarrhea... Apologies to the sensitive, but this just means to me a person who can't stop talking, who must have a say in everything, even if they don't know much about it, and something I tease some people with, like friends and students... Because indeed, like the physical incontinence, there are some who believe they know everything, and must express their opinions in every situation, believing that it matters, which often it does not... For what truly matters is communication--with God, with each other, with nature and life... And true communication is two-way: we can speak our truth, but we must keep silent and listen to the revelation, to the response, to what the other party thinks... And that is why we need to keep silent sometimes... This is probably why some psychologists say this is an introvert superpower: by keeping silent more often, we hear things that others who don't take the time can't, and we gain more wisdom... And on an eternal plane, our God is praised by lightning and thunder, but just as He talked to Elijah in a gentle whisper, so do His truths in our life come to us in our moments of keeping still and silent...

As so often happens in life, any group, religious or secular, where the human figurehead must be adored and venerated, is actually a cult, a kingdom of abused and brainwashed slaves groveling over much hard-earned favor of the delusional at the expense of sanity and self-respect... Because our Savior showed us what true leadership is--being one of and among the team, relating to every need, giving support and understanding, generosity with time and talent, and love... And that should be our mirror today... May we spend our days being followers of truth and wisdom, and leaders of love, understanding, grace and peace...

Because the destruction of our minds and bodies, ruin of relationships, and the death of our souls come not from sudden changes in activity, but a seemingly unknowing but often small series of mundane steps to cover over inefficiencies, to compromise, to hide the truth and sacrifice it at the altar of convenience, fear and protection of image and status... May everyday we choose to do what is right and good, speak only out of a heart of love and not envy, and keep our minds in tune with what is pure, lovely and honest for one and all...

Working out our salvation is an everyday thing... Because we cannot buy our souls off by endless, sometimes repetitive prayers, by regular church attendance, by purchasing indulgences or giving of huge offerings; but by everyday doing what our Creator meant for us to do here, by loving Him and caring for our fellowman as ourselves... We are called upon to treat each other fairly and with respect, not abusing or oppressing or taking advantage of each other; and as much as we honor and respect God, to feed His people and those whom He constantly calls each day, with His love, His grace and goodness... And if we do falter and fail, we know we can call on Him for forgiveness, repent what we did wrong, and still move on and continue doing our mission... May we find strength, hope and peace, the rest of our journey...

The passed down faith... Is the truest legacy... A science article some time before said that the way we think is actually written in our DNA, hence, hereditary... And they include creativity and crafts, talents and intellect, mindset and perspective, and more metaphysically than most--faith... As in minister Timothy's life, who was molded by the faith of his mother and grandmother, so also are we... We may belong to different religions, we may claim superiority over others, but basically we can never be better than the quality of our parents and elders... And that is the point of challenge too: if our parents and elders were unschooled, ignorant of the ways of the modern world, uncultured if we may say so, can we learn much and help them learn in return... Because each of us are made in the image of our God; and regardless of age, gender, status, generation, obligated to know and learn, responsible to gain wisdom and understanding; that we may share such to others, in an avenue of love and concern...

The prayerful is truly powerful... Because prayer connects us to our Heavenly Father, the true source of light, wisdom and strength, whose Spirit gives us life and drives our everyday motivations... And by our words, by our priorities, by our causes, by our deeds, we manifest our prayerfulness... We can never claim to be spiritual soldiers of Him if we do not come to the forefront of prayer in our daily lives, and in the secrets of our closets; instead of just in the forefronts of our little congregations where only praise of people becomes our aim, even at the expense of sincerity and real transformation; and we can never claim to be life soldiers for His Word and kingdom if all we have is talk, but we do not offer our lives for the safety, for the health, for the prosperity and wisdom of our fellowman, but rather stay on the sidelines and make all kinds of excuses of our own illusions of privilege and uniqueness... Life transformation indeed comes to those who take the risk, who stick their necks out, who give life and limb, time and energy, talents and resources, to share and pour out His love and understanding to all, at whatever cost, and consistently throughout the rest of the journey...

The bond of perfection is generosity and understanding... Titles are forgotten, statuses are dropped, when you show disrespect to others, putting them down, backbiting or criticizing them because you think they are beneath you, less capable and less cultured... Because faith and character rests on what the Word says; "would you have embraced the same humility, understanding, generosity, fairness acceptance and love exhibited by our Saviour as written in the Word?"... Or would you rather say, "because we are human, we cannot"; which actually means that because we live in the modern times, we know better and would not emulate the One whom we nominally worship but whose example from 2,000 years ago we ignore... May we choose what is right and good, do good to others and show them respect; for each of us have our own issues, we are each gifted in our unique ways to deal with life's challenges; but as all His children, obligated to help and deserve support from one another...

What matters is what's in the heart... Because out of it are the issues of life, and what's in it drive our everyday word and action... A proud heart insists on its rightness and self-righteousness, to a feeling of superiority over others, but actually wallows in ignorance; while the humble and wise heart recognizes and accepts the potential in others, understands their needs and issues, and is always willing to lend a hand or to support... And the one whose life truly succeeds is the one who leaves a good influence and impact on others, not on leading them on in envy, but spreading and sharing the love and wisdom of God, and helping make the world a better place for one and all...

Ignorance is no excuse... A recent article says that the environment started degrading really fast since around the 1950s, leading to the drastic conditions we experience these days caused by the climate... It seems that whoever was born and in existence during these past seventy years must have had huge and collective contributions to what we now call climate apocalypse... Yet, sadly, too few can really do much significant impact, since whatever little effort one person or group does to alleviate our plight, gets drowned by the massive apathy, ignorance, neglect and abuse the greater mass of humanity heaps upon nature... And so is it with the consequences of wrongdoing as what the Word says today--it is no excuse that we know little, or aren't aware, or aren't taught so in school, because acquiring knowledge is our responsibility, and gaining wisdom our life goal, not of our parents, teachers or elders... May we truly live out our calling, start as one human race to accept the consequences of our actions and do our part to correct our ways, to do our best to thrive and help the weak, and to give our lives to our ultimate mission still of being good stewards of creation...

Hypocrisy doesn't pay... Because we are all inadequate creatures, we all stumble and fail sometimes... And like King David, we have to learn to face up to the consequences of our actions, be humble and do better... And though we are forgiven once, but knowing our mistakes and doing them over and over again does not anymore merit us mercy but a loss of grace and falling away... May we not put out the Spirit's fire in us, and truly live with goodness and grace consistently, transparently, in all honesty, justice, fairness and peace...

Bullying and body shaming has no place in the family of God... Yet, it seems many of us today who claim to belong to His church can't stop our carnal, base and ignorant ways and still focus only on outward appearances, on what glitters rather than what is inside, on what the world calls desirable rather than what is good and godly; to the point that we are not aware that our words have wounded our brethren, and dimmed the light of our Heavenly Father that should have shone from us to a darkened world... May we realize that we are called upon not to glory on our efforts and our so-called status and achievements; but with our words and actions, with our motivations and emotions, to show appreciation to everything our Maker has done, in the lives of others and our own... Because He who designed all things is loving and wise, and no respecter of persons--race, age, gender, body size and shape, skin color, status or whatnot... And we show our love and worship of Him if we reflect the same love and understanding to others too...

Salvation is free, and let's keep it at that... Because we believe our Savior died in His human form to make it so... Therefore, may those of us who cash in on it with rhetoric, with schemes, with misinformation taking advantage of people's ignorance and trauma repent from our evil deeds... May we truly believe, and disciple others to believe in the same promise; and may we let our days and that of others, be filled with the same hope and confidence... That we have a Savior who gave His physical life 2,000 years ago to lead us to a life of hope and glory beyond the grave, and we need not pay for it in installments now, especially through empty deeds and words we think secures us to that passage, but lives lived in love and generosity, in wisdom and discernment, understanding and humility... For the truly saved is humbled, the disciple and truly discipled is as He was--driven by His love and mercy, His grace and light, and His brand of pure, unadulterated goodness...

A day in seven, but not on our own terms... For the Sabbath is a day of rest, even from each other's overwhelming and profuse but empty attention and validation; and a day dedicated to an intimate time with our Maker, and His natural creation... Therefore we forfeit it if we fill it up with our own programs that seek only to highlight our talents and capabilities; we impoverish our souls if we do not step back, keep still and stay down from who we are; and surrender our time, effort and will to Him, and His glory revealed in our surroundings... Finally, it is recognizing that the best we can do for Him whom we cannot see, is to do good, be generous and just, humble, fair, sincere and honest with those around us whom we can see, whose needs we can perceive and help meet, whose pain and sorrow we can alleviate... Because worshipping God on His Day is not from our agenda, nor from canons passed down to us by so-called messengers; but according to His revealed will in key parts of the written word, according to what His Spirit reveals to us each day...

There are really no instant miracles in life, but blessings too long unrealized while in the making, and only recognized for a fleeting moment when they come, yet, changes lives forever... And so there are no accidents, no one better than others in living a life that truly matters and makes an impact... For each one of us is given grace each day to uphold what's good and godly, and to do our work in the open, in broad daylight, the truth in us in full view of the sun and the great cloud of our life's witnesses... May we take up that challenge and live sincerely, honestly, and always with good intentions...

Because our God is a magnanimously generous one; so that if we trust Him and believe on His promises, and continue to do good, to share with others without condition or malice, we find that at whatever point of our lives, He meets our needs, and we are blessed without burden, we are provided for in all aspects--physically, materially, mentally, emotionally, and with peace... May we hold on to that and learn patience, perseverance, honesty and fairness, good character...

In our world today where many people just want to bring attention to themselves, who expect everyone to afford them privileges and favors at the expense of the weak and silent, the humility and meekness exemplified by our Savior is a rare gem... Yet, that is often where wisdom and love reside... For our faith is not manifested as a scream, but a silent yet clear book where others may see the radiance of a life filled with His Spirit and presence... For our God is the same through time: while the rest of the world are amazed by thunder- and lightning- like professions of faith, convictions and ideas, He reveals Himself as a gentle breeze, a silent whisper, a still small voice... And though we act with decency and decorum, we are still called upon to speak our truth quietly and clearly, not competing with the screams driven by selfish motivations of the people around us who try desperately to gain much-desired attention; instead we are commissioned to stand out from the rest of the pack through lives lived in truth and love, in generosity and faith...

Doers of the Word... The apostle couldn't have said things more clearly and universally: that we are only true to our professions and convictions of faith when we do the deed that matches it... That because we serve the Heavenly Father of light, our actions and motivations should be clear and pure; that because we believe and follow the God of mercy and compassion, likewise we give time to care and support the weakest and least among us; that because we serve a powerful God, we feel confident, at peace, and not doubt that in all of our struggles, He will strengthen us and see us through... May we truly be doers of the Word, live the good news and promise He left as our legacy, and not mere hearers and spectators of it...

This never grows old: that the surest manifestation of our faith is being a good neighbor... As in, when our Savior said that the greatest commandment is to love God, that is a profession of our faith; and to love our neighbor as ourselves, the second greatest one, the proof and the natural reaction and fruit of having true faith... And so, as our weekend insight, it bears repeating too: that we must not delay in doing good to others, and to enjoy and uphold what is good, true and sincere, pure and honest and fair in life; for if we hesitate and pass up, we deprive ourselves of much needed break to our physical bodies, and a necessary respite to our soul; but we also deprive others of the blessings of our presence, generosity, grace, wisdom and love...

Through all of life's changes, our God is our ultimate sanctuary... So we need not fear what tomorrow may bring, whether we have enough, whether we are equipped or qualified, and whether we will succeed, break through and experience better days, because He is already there; He has laid out our path, and we can trust that He will empower us through... And that will be the test of our faith: to trust that our sincere and true efforts will bear fruit, to have confidence and peace that He is always at hand, and we need not use many words and loud voices, even magnified actions and entitlements to get His attention; because He already pays us much attention; and He knows us, where we are, what we need, and where we need to be...

Because many of us are predisposed to accept things that validate our own biases and prejudices; we take opinions as fact, hearsays as canons, misinterpretations as enlightenment, fake and fraud as truth- - hook, line and sinker, without caring to dig deeper, understand more, and be a little more discerning... But the proof is in the pudding, they say; and we can prove words with actions, convictions on reactions, professions of faith in how "The others" are treated by the so-called Believer... And so it is with those who claim to have been baptized in and filled with the Holy Spirit: it is not words, whether uttered from booklets, or unintelligible syllables not belonging to any of the world's current and past thousands of languages and dialects that manifest its realness, but by words of wisdom and understanding, actions of love, generosity and unconditional hospitality... And because the power of our God cannot be faked, may we tap into it always, meditate on it daily, and let it grow and bear fruit in our lives the rest of our physical existence, into the fruits it clearly was exemplified by the physical life of our Savior, and magnified in the teachings of His direct apostles... Here's praying His Spirit be poured out on us all everyday, that as His earthen vessels and jars of clay, we might pour such on others too...
