How'd you spend your last day of 2023? For me I just read a fic about Harry Potter's dead father and Harry Potter's dead dogfather's long dead brother falling in love over and over again till 4am🧍🏻‍♀️

i have decided that while harry’s patronus is a deer for his father, his animagus is a big black shaggy dog like sirius’ because he loved sirius so much 🥹

The fourth book is just where Sirius shines as a godfather. So worried about Harry he subsides off of rats in a cave. And when Harry walks, hobbled injured, into Dumbledore’s office after the triwizard tournament Sirius is so angry and worried about Harry he’s literally shaking.

It’s sad, but this is just such a strong, impactful moment. To see how much Sirius cares about Harry and how seriously he took his duties as his godfather. As his protector. As his family.

He even stands up to Dumbledore, pushes back on his request to question Harry about the night. And Harry is so relieved because he doesn’t want to talk about it and he’s never had someone there before, an adult, to advocate for him. It’s a bittersweet moment but a precious one all the same.

Personal headcanon:

Sirius was Harry's dogfather (according to harry) and well... Sirius being Sirius never corrected him sooo when they met and sirius told him firsthand that he was Harry's godfather a memory surfaced in both of their brains and they both looked at each other

"You know when you were little you used to-"

"Well, yeah - how'd you remember that?"
