obviously there is no such thing as "canon" in doctor who but to YOU. personally.

went on a lunch date recently where the guy like. didn't mention what job he did on grindr, just that he'd been working late etc, and then when i got there and mentioned it i asked what he did, and he was like "oh well i work for the police" and i was. immediately shut down, understandably
and later on i asked his opinions abt police brutality, police abuse rates, if he thinks the police should be abolished etc, and later was like, yeah, ethically this is a bad match
but idk like. when ppl tell me they're a cop or a gard (or in the military) on grindr i just block them from the off, bc it's like, well, you're cool w brutality, rape, and abuse, there's no reason you could or should be trusted with an intimate partner. and this guy had mentioned he followed me on twitter and didn't at all seem surprised by my open disgust for his profession, and idk if that was why he didn't mention it up front and thought i wouldn't make a big deal about it (as if) or if he just doesn't mention it to anybody
but i'm still so like ??
like my house has a very explicit no cops policy. if sb else brought their partner or brother or whatever to dinner and they were a cop, they would be told to fucking leave. as if i'm gonna fuck one myself

you know what I’d like to see more of in film, whether it be in animation or live action? characters with visible deformities. and not just in the background, although that would honestly be a good start. how about having a character with a limb difference? how about a character with a visible rib hump from scoliosis? how about a character with a craniofacial disorder? and what if those characteristics had nothing to do with the plot? what if they were never even mentioned, just something you observed? those of us with physical deformities are out here just living, and even though our conditions affect our lives, they aren’t the only aspect of who we are. when i’ve seen these things in film, they have been portrayed as a tragedy or worse: characteristics to indicate that a character is a villain. in my opinion, it’s past time to change that.

i always say im able-bodied bc i feel like it best describes my General Lived Experience but i do have that like. thing in my legs where if i walk briskly for some distance (like 500 meters) i get this crushing pain in my whole lower legs which gets worse and worse if i keep walking until i eventually have to sit down for a few minutes and wait for it to go away. which im still trying to get diagnosed bc so far artery scans and muscle ultrasounds render nothing. and ngl it is like, an issue often enough and is a pretty bothersome thing when it happens (like not only bc its extremely painful but also having to find some place to sit down in the middle of the street and having to stay there a while isnt awesome) so im not entirely sure "able-bodied" fully describes me but i also am not sure its a disability bc we dont know wtf it is. so i guess im kind of in a weird inbetween where i err on the side of just assuming its not a disability and its just like, an annoying body thing..

I am very invested in the idea of River song as like…a clinical psychopath. And one literally trained and brainwashed to be an assassin at that. which is what canon claims she is but it rarely characterizes her that way especially post-Mel. I think it would be interesting if she genuinely had low empathy and a non-intuitive sense of right and wrong but uses this kind of overly flirtatious, femme fatale persona to mask that because firstly she was trained that way and secondly she thinks it makes her seem more like a “real person.”
And I think her connection to the doctor (especially 11, who I think has a really unique relationship to both having a masked personality and intimacy as a whole) becomes even more layered because they are both these outsiders almost play-acting the way they think human relationships are supposed to go. This version of River would be especially drawn to the doctor because he’s the only person who can really get her nontraditional understanding of love, something she can’t intuitively feel but has learned and basically only feels for him and her parents.

maybe i'm missing some camp dialogue here (entirely possible since i spend more time running around the map hunting woodpeckers and saving maidens than at camp) but. do we have a "i'm dying" or "i'm sick" or "i've got tuberculosis" scene w arthur. or ANYTHING. i feel like they just Know at one moment but it's so vague? i didn't even realize the gang knew until the first reference i could find was strauss (STRAUSS) saying he's sorry for arthur in the money lending quest. like i very much needed a scene like that and maybe some more reactions idk? i realize you got your own problems n all but damn. can u ask him if he's okay or whatever. jesus.

god you know how much i love science fiction/fantasy purely for That Moment when the character rockets off to space for the first time or when they see the stars for the first time or when they see grass for the first time just something inherently beautiful and emotional about watching someone realize that the world is so vast and so much bigger and so much brighter and so much scarier and so much better or whatever that one doctor who quote said
