Synopsis:
Kosmos was once a great empire, split into three when power and greed forced men to rip the lands apart. Now three mighty kingdoms stand in its place, and yet remnants of the curses of the ancient empire still linger up to this day.
The exiled heir to a powerful bloodline, Nyx Asteria wants nothing to do with curses and ancient empires. All she wants is to remove the seal burning on her back that forces her magic to feed on her own veins and carry on quietly as the handmaiden to the Duke’s Daughter. Just as she’s getting used to her new job and identity, she becomes an offering to the pirate captain of the Shadow.
So Nyx does what she does best and bargains for her life, entering what is already a shaky agreement and turning it into a soul-binding contract. Never mind that she can’t even do magic without feeling like she’s dying. Never mind that she’s with a band of peculiar pirates, united by their own selfish goals. Never mind that their captain’s notoriety reaches the ends of worlds, bordering on legend at best and sounding like fabrications at worst.
Nyx knew, though. The first time she saw him, she knew he was just a Dead Man Walking.

Kosmos:
↺ Lurez - used to hold the center of power in the entire Kosmos, thereby referred to as the Empire. Highly strict and religious, Lurez is intolerant of the magefolk, as they believe all power should only come from the Divine, and the Divine's Chosen, which is the Imperial Family.
↺ Mignoa - as the most recent territory that earned its independence from Lurez, Mignoa has a weak government, its resources often exploited by Lurez. Known for the Dead Lands, a region in their kingdom where no life grows.
↺ Valhalle - the center for magefolk activity, Valhalle is ruled by a King and their Ten Generals. Magefolks are represented by the High Council, but do not hold government power as what they learned from previous incited wars.
Some territories of the Kosmos are still unknown and uncharted.

Thank you! I am having a good day. I recently got new job which lets me write. on the job. literally, I point-blank told them I would in the interview and they hired me anyway. a+ dream working. I'm reaching a point of settled-in where writing is actually happening.

I volunteer to cuddle with you while we stargaze far away from light pollution
Just seeing the stars like that… It’s the sort of thing that makes you recognize the origins of religion tbh. Like, it’s hard to describe to someone who’s from a city or suburbia, and hasn’t had the unique joy of space without light pollution. It’s a different world entirely.
Pair with it a nip in the air, a heavy sleeping bag, and good company? It can’t be beat.
Beautiful as it may be, the sunrise has nothing on the seeing a dozen shooting stars in a matter of minutes… just tiny rocks evaporating as they crash through the atmosphere.

So I got tagged TWICE somehow XD (jk, love y’all, big thanks to @that-cloud and @a-knight-owls-curse, I adore these tagging games!!!)

So, yes, the ones I’m working on, eh? Ought to only be a handful...

10 minutes later, it’s decidedly NOT a handful. It’s more like five handfuls, y’all. when did I ever accumulate this many??? why did I decide to work on them simultaneously??????????? new rule: ones that I’ve touched in the past five days or so. also, apparently I don’t have only ONE wip folder, what do you take me for, a heathen? no, I’ve got to have three different ones, one of those an analogue one that I had to hunt for behind the newspaper stash on my desk.
Around 6 original short stories that a) don’t all have titles yet but are plotted and planned out to a T and will be written within the next few days, if not weeks.
Through Troubled Waters (yup, why start into an easy, nice, oneshot after a writer’s block when I can start with the frigging longest longfic I’ve ever longed to write for???) One Piece, Buggy the Clown time travels to his own past and eventually his mini!me and Shanks stumble upon him and don’t leave him alone (neither does he them tho, so it evens out). (mind the tags, please!)
Dead Man Walking (it counts if I edit stuff, right? ... yup, it means I touched it within the last five days or so.) One Piece, a dimension travel (or is it?) piece about Portgas D. Ace (and company). (please mind the tags on this one!)
The Second Part to This Series That Still Exists, Why, Yes, It Does. One Piece, a young Buggy meets Garp a year after his ex-captain’s execution and, well, baby!Portgas D. Ace, as it so happens. Buggy doesn’t trust Garp to treat babies right and gets himself force-adopted/kidnappedoes with him to wherever he’s going. Dadan, meet pirate apprentice!Buggy. Buggy, be flabbergasted at Garp’s choice in babysitter. Ace, be happy.
An unpublished Christmas fanfic, namely a Danny Phantom/DC Batfamily crossover fanfic that doesn’t frigging leave me alone until I finish it.
An as-of-yet unnamed alternative crossover fanfic about Danny Phantom and the Batfamily that insists it wants to be a longfic and whose dreams and aspirations I regularly have to dash to dust cause I do not want any more longfics on ao3 until I’ve finished at least ONE, darn it all.
at least three more oneshots in the One Piece fandom I’ve yet to finish/write more on so they can count as done/edit
So. I had writer’s block for a while there (helloooooo job search, I hate you so. much.) cause I had to write other genres of text a LOT lately and am as unhappy about it as to want to actually publish a freaking book sometime soon, just so I’ll have something else to write for.
as for the tags, I have no clue WHO to tag? Feel free to ignore them if you don't want to.

dead man walking; a (re)introduction powerpoint
a few author's notes regarding this wip:
I started Dead Man Walking in May 2020--and you know what that era was. It was both a coping mechanism for me and an emotional punching bag because of the social and political issues that surrounded me, and even though it started as something so unserious (as you can see by the character's names-- I probably just took every mythology in the world and slapped them on there), it quickly became the wip with my most progress, and that's why it's very dear to me.
I actually introduced this to writeblr in August 2021, I think (?) but failed to keep it up because my day job sucks reasons. However, I hit a snag early this year and barely managed to write (I think two chapters since January) so I was hoping I can wake my muse up by creating other content.
The first draft of this novel is almost finished, and for its first revision I've been trying to fix plot holes and some technicalities along the way.
