National Botanic Gardens & Bow St. Experience - Dublin, Ireland
We spent a fantastic morning walking around the spectacular and expansive National Botanic Gardens - so impressive!
Our first view of the Gardens - perfection!
How cool is this planting? Such a clever design using different colored plants.
I tried to control myself, but there were so many wonderful things to take pictures of:
After visiting the greenhouses and the area surrounding them, we wandered around the back portion of the Gardens. Cedar forests, bridges, and streams - a little oasis in the city!
Just a couple more photos, as we made our way back to the gate and exited. Did I mention that the Gardens are FREE to visit?
What a pleasurable way to spend the morning! We left the Gardens and walked a couple blocks to a place I had picked out for lunch, John Kavanagh Pub.
We were lucky that we arrived just before the lunch crowd did, the place was packed by the time we left. The food was good and our waitress was a sweetheart. The smoke alarm went off while we were eating, the cook really had things smoking on the grill! Nobody appeared alarmed, they just opened the front door and carried on. Guess it was a fairly common occurrence!
We went back to our Airbnb and took a little nap after lunch, we had to rest up for our tasting at Jameson (scheduled for late in the afternoon today).
We arrived at the Jameson Distillery on Bow Street a little early for our tour, we were rewarded for this when they moved us to an earlier tour. It was an interesting tour - always fun to learn about how things are made:
This room was very dark and the guide was giving us a lot of information and talking a bit fast for me - he would tell us to check something out on the table in front of us and by the time I actually figured out what he had said and tried to do it, he was moving on to the next thing! Oh well, I did much better when we got to the tasting room!
I actually enjoyed all of these whiskeys, but I think that I was still one of the last to finish - gotta take it slow when you're drinking whiskey!
After the tour, we claimed our complimentary drinks in the large bar area. I had something with whiskey and orange liqueur, Doug had something with lime and whiskey - both had seltzer, too. Both were delicious.
After our tour of Jameson, we went over to The Porter House, where we enjoyed a couple of their beers and a couple of burgers (they had a great vegan burger!). We had hoped that there would be some music happening, but it didn't start till much later in the evening. It seems fitting that our last picture in Dublin is in a pub with a beer on our table! Time to go home and get things in order, we have to be to the airport early in the morning.
Slainte!

ABOUT CORSAIR TRIPLE SMOKE SINGLE BARREL
Our everyday Triple Smoke was Whisky Advocate’s Artisan Whiskey of the. We use three individually smoked malts (cherrywood from Wisconsin, beechwood from Germany, and peat from Scotland) to craft this deep and complex American single-malt whiskey. Using 3 distinct smokes provides consistent and balanced smoke from nose to the palate and throughout the finish. In the process of making this beautiful whiskey we often notice barrels that truly stand out head and shoulders among the rest. The barrels we choose for our Single Barrel releases are all unique, and only the most interesting and highest quality barrels are selected.
