Isn't it funny that Slade is usually intense, militaristic and harsh and yet he gets so vanilla when it comes to sex?? Fanon Slade is very dominant and often into bdsm in fics while in canon he's anything but. All those panels with Lillian Worth, Pat Trayce, Joey's fiance, Talia... he's more of a big lazy cat than a wild sex machine lol. And he's the one getting offered a quick fuck, never the other way around. :P
Hey friend :)
Slade and Adeline normally beat the fuck out of each other as foreplay. Addie used to put him into chokeholds to keep him still while both of them were naked, and then they'd fuck nasty. Joey and Grant would regularly hear them scream in rage and then scream during sex while hiding in their room as kids.
Later on, even after they broke up and yada yada, sometimes Slade and Addie would throw punches, yell and toss shit (famously Addie swung a toaster at him once) and then have sex. His bruises would heal by the time they were done, hers didn't and so you see these panels of Addie in the aftermath of sex with big black spots on her face (source is Deathstroke 2016 and Deathstroke Year One).
The point is that Slade is violent when it comes to sex compared to everyone else. We're talking about mainstream American comics so they do not show sex scenes and sure as fuck they don't show BDSM. I precise American because I'm European and in my favorite comicbooks growing up, the protagonists would have sex almost once every issue, and not just them; sex was a big part of the stories as it is a big part of the human experience for a lot of people, but this never happens with comics from the US as far as I can tell.
But I digress, my point is that *no one* in DC comics is shown to have anything but vaguely hinted, rigorously vanilla sex, and the fact that Slade acts a tiny bit more spicy than the average makes you think he's more likely to be into hardcore sexual practices than the average person.
Additionally, in Teen Titans 03 he uses a language with Robin which is reminiscent of what you would hear a dominant say in the bedroom. It's done on purpose to be creepy and it works, but of course if a kinkster is watching it their imagination runs wild.
That being said, I like to picture him as a big lazy cat also, and ultimately everyone can do whatever they prefer with the topic. There's people who headcanon him as strictly submissive since he married his sergeant. What I know for sure is that he has a stamina of a meta since he's enhanced, so if he puts his mind to it he can surely make a partner happy <3

ngl, the more I think about it, the more I feel conflicted over how people sexualize my characters.
On the one hand, it would be silly to deny that I don't go out of my way to create aesthetically pleasing/attractive characters because I love to draw what I enjoy, and I love it when people simp for them.
But on the other hand, sometimes it does bother me that people are so fixated on sex and their own arousal that they miss important lore/plot information that I get a bit frustrated

Labels, Asexuality, Aromanticism and Headcanon.
I need to just get this off my chest because it's a common trend I've noticed in a couple fandoms I'm in and I think it needs to be discussed. Of course I'm open to discussion on this. There's a chance I'm wrong.
Something about the way fandom treats s/x repulsed characters in media just sits with me bad. In multiple fandoms I've been in now, I've witnessed a clearly stated canonically s/x repulsed asexual character be put into 'intimate' situations under guise of a 's/x positive' interpretation. What bothers me, personally, is that these characters don't and would never. One example is with Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives. I have accidentally stumbled across explicit fics involving him before that are tagged 's/x positive asexual Jonathan Sims'. But the thing about him is that at no point in the podcast is he even mentioned to be asexual. In fact, the information you get about him is actually that he simply doesn't. That is all you know, that he doesn't, ever. And yet, due to the nuances of the asexual label and the fact that that description of Jon technically puts him under it, folks have been using those technicalities to put him into scenarios he never would enter into. As much as I hate to say it, it almost feels like there's a sort of s/x repulsed asexual erasure going on within the aspec community. And for context, this is coming from an aspec who is positive about that kind of intimacy. This is not just limited to asexuality either. I've also witnessed this happening to aromantic characters with fandom putting them in 'queer platonic relationships' that read as romantic ones. There is nothing wrong with enjoying a platonic pairing, in fact, I'm all for it. But time and time again I see sappy art with blushing or otherwise romantic undertones and I feel... just sort of weird about it. I understand where this all comes from. People have a desire to see themselves in characters and I respect that. But you can do that without the erasure of both asexuals and aromatics that simply do not. When it comes to being aro and/or ace, I recognise that, I, as someone who, although aspec, is still is open to relationships and 'intimacy', am far less scrutinised for it by society than those who aren't. And although sadly there is barely any representation in media for the kind of aspec I am, it doesn't mean that it feels okay to erase other asexual identities and their representation in the process. Summary: So this is all to say. It personally makes me uncomfortable when I see Repulsed Asexual and Aromatic characters turned pseudo-s/xual and romantic by the fans through the use of Label Nuances and Technicalities. (Note: This is not intended to be an attack on anyone personally. I simply think it's a much needed to be discussed topic that I've noticed happening more and more recently) On a more positive note: For anyone looking for aspec representation that involves a character who loves the idea of romance and has experienced giddy feelings in the past but comes to the realisation they might be aromantic through the help of an aroace friend, go listen to The Penumbra Podcast season 4 episode 'Rita Minute 4: 4Ever Love'. I've never felt so seen in terms of my sexuality before. It's an underrated gem of an aspec central minisode.

Ok ok this is a very niche personal thing but you know I do wish it was more normal in media for people to have sex, have a bad/mid experience with it, and then decide/realize that they aren’t interested. I’ve heard a bunch of people say “oh well it’s a stereotype that ace people had bad experiences with sex so that’s not a good way to go about it” but honestly I’ve never come across a piece of media that portrayed deciding not to have sex (after having sex and not liking it) as a positive thing. Some times it even depicts pushing yourself through trauma or anxiety so you can have sex with your partner as a good healthy decision and like. Idk man. I just wish it was more normalized to say “nope that’s just not for me.”

man people REALLY can't tell when larian is full on joking in their patch notes, huh? the gale thing was a legitimate bug and people are crying that they changed him as they did lae'zel. reading comprehension these days is abysmal.
I can't be surprised, though, because back when astarion's kiss animation was bugged, I saw discussions that it was "suspicious" that his kiss animation wasn't bugged for the default guy body, but was bugged for the default gal body. you know, as if larian somehow fucked up their own game's code on purpose, specifically to slight women who want to romance a canonically bisexual man that has flirtatious dialogue with the lady companions regardless of your tav's interest in him. totally checks out.
the complaints about changing lae'zel are entirely valid and I agree that her personality should not be toned down to appeal to the delicate sensibilities of the heterosexual man. I'm fairly certain that lae'zel's change was actually the only one that intentionally altered a companion's dialogue to be less abrasive. the alleged change to shart was also a bug fix, not an attempt to alter her character, if I remember correctly.
but by all means, let's accuse the devs of "ruining the game" every time they improve it. even better, let's all campaign for the addition of another romance! solely so that we can have sex with a popular NPC! rather than, oh I don't know, putting more pressure on them to add more material to the stories of wyll & karlach!
I swear, some people really do NOT know what it feels like to play a game where the devs truly and honestly are not listening to the playerbase...or where it takes literal YEARS for them to respond to even a fraction of the players' reasonable concerns & feedback.

dungeons and dragons is so fun bc right now i’m in 2 campaigns and i play them back-to-back on fridays.
in the first campaign i play this mangy little level 5 goblin spores druid named pellet. she is silly and i love her to death. also she will bite your ankles and it will fucking Hurt. the entire party she’s a part of is very well balanced and- despite their sometimes clashing personalities- they’re very competent in combat which leads to thrilling high-stakes battles
in the second campaign i play a level 4 half-elf goolock named cal. we’re all playing villains in a cyberpunk and we work for a villain organization. cal is NOT built for this whole high-stakes job thing, nor is the rest of his team. this party consists of a bunch of glass cannons and one glass nuclear bomb (our wizard). today’s session was the first time cal has been in combat and not passed out or been downed- we did not finish this encounter, though, so there’s still time for him to get bodied

Completely unprompted and unhinged hot take time:
Darkness Konosuba is a feminist icon (for being a huge pervert.) Yes, I’m serious.
For being a huge pervert. And yes, I am dead serious.
See, it feels like in most anime, women are never allowed to be sexually active. You might get some fanservice characters, but it always feels… idk, surface level? Like some ‘seductress’ who clearly only uses sex appeal as a tool to manipulate men or something. That, or they’re part of a harem and only exist to suck off the MC.
Darkness being an rare case of a female character who is just horny for her own sake and **not** an accessory for a bland MC, is good representation for female sexuality and how, y’know, women are allowed to be horny for their own sake and not just a recipient for men’s desire

So much of this is good. SO MUCH OF THIS IS GOOD. (It's on the longer side but every bit of it is educational)
But why does any of this matter? What’s lost when movies just become a series of memeable one-liners and action scenes that can be distilled down into a gif? What’s lost when the necessary implication of the audience in the experience of viewing a film is removed and we become merely passive consumers of moving images that stir nothing in us, that don’t engage our bodies, our hearts, our minds, or shake us from our late capitalist catatonia? Why does it matter that we now only interact with trauma narratives through prepackaged IP nuggets delivered to us neatly in a series like WandaVision (created by Jac Schaeffer, 2021), or the Halloween franchise? What’s lost when the sex scene disappears from our movies, when the very presence of sexual desire and bodily expression incites revulsion? What’s lost is our connection to one another beyond the fetters of capitalism, indeed the very thing that makes us human. What’s lost is our “sense of the real” (Telotte), the visceral and radical experiences that Verhoeven’s Hollywood films, even and especially through the persistence and abundance of sex scenes, were dedicated to recovering, all of which today’s cinema is inevitably without. What’s lost is the last thing that stands between us and the system that forever seeks to turn us into nothing more than another product.

what is a sex class like what does it entail
so I'm taking a psychology class rn called "Human Sexuality" and, like, the premise is to understand how a person's sexual identity is shaped by the world (conditioning) around them and how our sexual identity then influences our decision making / place in that world. the class focuses a lot on the different aspects of human sexuality including anatomy, sexual orientation, sexual behaviors, and contemporary issues within that scope (e.g., sex trafficking, sex work, and pornography) and perspectives / attitudes surrounding sex in general. so yeah :)

queer rep in children's cartoons is obviously important. how much of a joyless bastard do you have to be to complain about that?
in a society that actively demonizes/hides their existence, it is obviously important for children to learn that all kinds of queer people exist.
Christ, we have homos in cartoons for 7 years & you weirdos are already sick of it!
I would've liked to see a trans woman on TV as a child. It would've made everything easier.
Today. Currently. That still does not exist.
But, PLEASE, continue kvetching. Prick.
love that you said all this and then still needed to get out more with this one
Tumblr media
anyway. i feel like all of that is based on your incorrect interpretation of something i offhandedly said in the tags of a joke post but now i feel a need to disagree with you because you sent me this annoying ass message. i actually am sick of queer rep in fucking cartoons and the reason for that is because i don’t watch cartoons due to being an adult and i would like that queer rep to be mine instead of 5-7 year olds that do not even know what homophobia is and have no concept of the need for representation. yes i’m a selfish and narcissistic cunt peace and love
