"Who knows? Sometimes the director may need to come in and check in on you kids because you’re on the other side of the world here,'” shares Carroll. “That would be kind of fun. Video check-in would be nice. I’d like to see their faces when Vance just walks into the room.”
Pls yes baby

Bruce, standing at the front of the guys: What's up Finney? We're back.
Finney: What the- you can't be here. You're dead. I literally saw your ghosts.

no tell me why i just thought of the best series finale for ncis??
the caught some big bad guy, and vance tells mcgee its time for him to retire, citing the ep he got shot. he asks mcgee to take over as director of ncis. mcgee flashes back to the different seasons, and says yes.
we cut to a ceremony a while later. our current team is there. most of ncis is there. then someone, no, two someones, NO, THREE someones quickly rush into the room. mcgee looks up to see tony, ziva, and abby, all looking various shades of happy, abby looking positively ecstatic. mcgee greets them, telling them how glad he is to see them. tony tells him that they werent the only people to come. cut to the door opening one more time, and we do some cuts back and forth, finally revealing
gibbs.
gibbs tells mcgee that he has faith in him. mcgee gets all choked up, even calling gibbs boss once more. vance tells mcgee its almost time for the ceremony. before mcgee goes to the stage, gibbs tells him one last thing
“kate would be proud”
and mcgee just hugs gibbs, and gibbs hugs him back, patting his back. mcgee hurries off to the stage for the ceremony.
cut to the directors office, mcgee just enters quietly, walking around and observing his new office. he hears a voice, turns around to see kate.
she tells him that hes not a probie anymore, asking if he ever thought hed get this far when he was being shot at from a rooftop and being shielded by a car. he answers that he wasnt sure how he was going to continue working at ncis without her. she gestures to the office, walking around as the camera follows her. she tells him that he mudtve done /something/ right as the camera spins back around to focus on mcgee’s face.
theres a knock on the door behind him, and the camera cuts behind him, showing us that kate is gone, as we hear tony, ziva, abby, gibbs and vance enter the office. vamce tells him that he came back for the extra whiskey in the cabinet, and that the others followed him. tony remarks that they couldnt exactly go back to gibbs’ house for drinks after work anymore. abby hugs mcgee again, and ziva asks mcgee if hes gonna pour them drinks. he pours 6 glasses, then another one, setting it on the table.
vance asks who its for. gibbs just smirks, answering that its kate’s, isnt it? mcgee nods, and they all clink glasses, and the episode ends

Thoughts On The 'F-Word'
It is only in the last month or two that I have discovered Joyce Vance and her writings.  Ms. Vance was a United States Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama from 2009 to 2017. She was one of the first five U.S. Attorneys, and the first female U.S. Attorney, nominated by President Barack Obama.  She is intelligent, knowledgeable, and her writing is clear and concise.  She writes on…

Hello person I’ve been following for a long time but never interacted with.
If you want some sci-finance for realsies you should check out night lamp by jack vance. Its like 80% just regular scifi but boy does it really get into the banking aspect when it does come up. It kinda feels like when a movie shot lingers too long on some feet and you start to get suspicious of the directors fetishes…..
Bye
I am suspicious about your choice of analogy, Anon. But thanks for the recommendation.
Honestly I'd watch a 100% sci-finance show. It can't be cheap or easy to finance a fleet of exploration vessels even in a post-monetary society.

19-year-old southpaw Jackie Mitchell, of the House of David baseball team, speaks to her teammates while in New York, July 14, 1933. Mitchell was the first and only woman to have a contract in Major League baseball, with the Chattanooga Lookouts. Two years earlier, in an exhibition game during spring training, she had struck out both Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth―in six pitches.
There is some controversy about that―not that it didn’t happen, because there is a film of it―but as to whether the Yankee aces were doing it just for show. Mitchell always maintained that it was genuine. “Why, hell, they were trying, damn right,” she said. “Hell, better hitters than them couldn’t hit me. Why should they’ve been any different?”
Timothy Wiles, who served as the Baseball Hall of Fame Research Director for about 20 years, said, “If she did this today, it would become a permanent part of the consciousness because of the media we have. If ESPN was around, it certainly would be their lead story.”
Mitchell was quoted at the time saying she learned to throw from her neighbor, MLB's Charles Arthur “Dazzy” Vance, who was later inducted into the Hall of Fame. Her contract was cancelled by baseball commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis after he heard about her spring training feat in 1931.

I'm sorry for this, it's not good. But somehow, I managed to get something done, so I gotta share. Kinda inspired by NCIS S21E08 'Heartless'.
Warnings: age gap, married couple, established relationship, talks of miscarriage, giving birth, jealousy, womanizer!Alden, daddy!Alden, very slight smut
Mine ~ Alden Parker
When you started to date Alden Parker, as he was still an FBI agent, you never considered becoming friends with his coworkers. Especially, after meeting a few of them he would consider his friends and they turned out to be judgmental towards the age gap in your relationship. Not that you wanted to befriend his coworkers anyways, you just agreed to meet them cause he asked.
However, it changed when Alden joined NCIS. He immediately started to tell you about his new team, and you could he was fond of them all, including his boss - which was extremely surprising since he never got along with his FBI boss, Sweeney. You quickly knew it would be different this time. It did take him a while before introducing you to them, but once it happened, you all hit it off. The guys were quite impressed with Alden wedlocking a woman fairly younger than him, while the girls, even though they wouldn't go for someone older, they agreed that Alden Parker had a little something. "It's the freaking hair!" Jess joked.
Before you knew it, this new team felt like family. You'd all hang out together - dinners, games night - and sometimes you'd have girls night with Jess and Kasie. You even babysit McGee's twins and/or Victoria a few times. Which, as much as you loved it, did hurt a little since it would remind you of the struggles you and Alden had been having to have a baby. Between not getting pregnant for months and the miscarriages, you had started to think that it wouldn't happen the natural way for you. Also, Alden really felt like he was getting too old to have a kid, no matter how badly he wanted one with you.
When you reached your third trimester, Alden felt pretty confident that this time everything was going to be alright while you couldn't shut that little voice in your head saying that something bad would happen like the other times. But finally, the nurse put your crying new born in your arms, and everything felt right. "You did so good, my love." Alden cried, kissing your forehead and looking down at his son. "Our miracle baby. He's perfect."
You didn't want the nurse to take him away from you but you knew they needed to check him up and clean him. "Do you guys have a name for this little guy?" Another nurse asked. You and Alden looked at each other for a second. "Axel Roman Parker." He said, proudly.
Obviously, the team was in the waiting room. Alden had been at work when you called him to tell him that your water broke. Nick had been the one driving to the hospital, "Torres, I'd like to meet my son before I die, thank you very much!" Alden shouted, holding onto the handle above the window.
"Don't worry, dad." Nick grinned.
Your husband went to see them to let them know that mom and baby boy were alright. "Is it okay if you guys only meet him in a few days?"
"Of course, no rush!"
"Send us pictures though! Please?"
Alden didn't want to go back to work after his paternity leave. He didn't want to leave his little family. The night before his first day back, he actually felt depressed. "He's changing so much so fast, I'm gonna miss so much." He sadly said, stroking his son's back, who was peaceful sleeping on daddy's chest.
"I'll take as many pics and videos I can." You kissed your husband's cheek. "And Vance said you don't have to put many hours like you usually do."
"I know, but still."
You noticed the tears forming in his eyes and it broke your heart a little. You didn't want him to go back to work either. You wish he could push his leave a little more, but he had pushed it as much as possible already - director Vance had been amazing and made it easy. You wrapped your arm around Alden's neck, carefully so you wouldn't wake up Axel. He nuzzled your neck as you gently stroked his hair. "He loves you and perfectly knows who daddy is. It won't change in a few hours, I promise."
"I honestly thought it would never happen for me, you know? Before you and then the issues we had, I thought-- I just wasn't meant to be a dad. But now he's here, and I just don't want to be away from him."
"Aw, baby." You cried with him. "I wish there was a way for you to stay."
The next day, Alden arrived late at work as he struggled to let go of Axel. Jimmy and Tim, who knew how it felt, were very helpful throughout the following week.
It took you months to separate from Axel, just for a few hours. And even more time to go out for a girls night while Alden had a boys night with his little man.
"I almost forgot how champagne tasted." You smiled, having your first drink in over a year.
"Good thing we took a whole bottle then!"
The conversation between you, Jess, Kasie and Delilah went on as it usually does when you four get together. Jess talked about her relationship with Jimmy, and her dad. Kasie confessed about her new crush - you and the girls immediately hyped her. Delilah talked about her job, and the twins newest obsessions. And you obviously talked about Axel and your husband.
"By the way, how's Alden's neck?" Jess asked.
"Perfect! Did Nick really fix him with a bear hug?"
"He did! It was pretty funny!" Jess laughed, remembering the scene from a couple of days ago. "Doctor Logan probably thought we were crazy."
"I can't believe that my husband im-so-scared-of-needles-hold-me-hand worked on a heart surgery." You laughed, trying to imagine the scene.
"Mr I fainted when my wife got her epidural." Kasie teased.
"In his defense, it's a pretty big needle for this." Delilah said. "Thank god he didn't faint during the surgery though." She joked.
"Well, if he did, I'm sure Doctor Logan would've enjoyed giving him mouth to mouth."
You, Kasie and Delilah turned like one person to look at Jessica. "What?" She asked, confused. Then she looked at you. "He didn't tell you?"
"Tell me what?"
"Um..."
"Jessica Knight."
"The doc clearly developed a crush on him. She practically flirted with him in front of me."
You let out a deep breath. "Did he flirt back?"
"Not really, he was genuinely confused."
"Did he not learn his lesson with the senator?" Kasie chimed in.
You finished your drink in one swallow, remembering when he gave you a piece of paper with a number on it. "Whose number is it?"
"A senator." He had said.
"Alright and what am I supposed to do with it?"
"You, nothing. But I guess she wanted me to call when she gave it to me." The jerk was smiling while you used to candle flame to burn the paper.
"I don't care about the 'it's safer for you if people don't know I'm married' crap, I'm gonna glue the wedding band to his damn finger."
The girls laughed, always enjoying how easily you get jealous when there's a woman around Alden. When you had learned that some women in the office kinda liked your man, you showed up at the NCIS headquarters for the first time and asked for a tour. When his ex wife got involved in a case, you were feeling anxious, even though she knew about you from the beginning, thanks to Alden's parents. The worst actually was when he saw his first love for the first time in over thirty years. He had admitted that it felt very strange, and maybe if he had been single, he'd have pursued something, but he was married to you, and deeply in love with you and he'd be crazy to let you go. It was one of those rare moments when you and Alden were struggling, and fought a little more often. But he never gave you a reason to be jealous or suspicious, it was just a part of your personality. And to be fair, he was such a womanizer, you couldn't help but to think that any other woman would be better than you.
You got home slightly drunk, which Alden expected. He was happy that you finally let yourself have some fun away from him and Axel. Barely sleeping on the couch, he immediately got up when he heard you come in. "Hey! What are you doing up? Is Axel awake?" You asked, struggling to take your shoes off. Alden kneeled down to help you.
"He did wake up an hour ago for his bottle but he's fast asleep now."
"Good, good." You leaned a little and ran your hand through his hair. "I'm so so so so happy you're my baby daddy."
Chuckling softly, he got back up and wrapped his arms around your waist. "Thank you for choosing me. You made all my dreams come true." You hugged there for a moment, just enjoying each other. "Let's go to bed, baby mama." He started to carry you, grabbing the baby monitor on the way.
"No sleeping, gimme another baby." He laughed but quickly got cut off as you smashed your mouth on his. He managed to get to the bedroom while you practically assaulting him, holding his face firmly and french kissing him. Of course his body was responding positively. As he put you down on the bed, you dragged him along. He was on top of you and you started to make out. It was long until you felt his erected cock between your legs. You reached for it, forcing your hands under his shorts. "Fuck, baby." He moaned.
"Yes, fuck me daddy."
And he did just that. ~
After freshening up in the bathroom, Alden found you in the nursery, looking over Axel. He hugged you from behind. "Do you really want another?" He asked, cautiously.
"Not necessarily," you admitted. "I mean, if it happens, I'll be very happy but I can't go through the struggles again."
"Okay. We've got him and he's absolutely perfect." You stroked your son's hair one more time before turning around to face your husband.
"He really is." You grabbed his left hand and stared at it for a moment. "This wedding band stays on, Alden. 24/7."
"But--"
"No but. I'm done with women flirting with you cause they assume you're single. You're taken, you're fucking mine. You keep the damn ring on."
Alden stayed silent for a moment. "Jess told you about Doctor Logan, didn't she?" You only looked at him, arms crossed. "Fine, I won't take off my ring ever again." He reached for your wrists and made you uncrossed your arms as he hated when you strike that pose on purpose. He brought you as close as possible to him. "Are you ever going to accept the fact that you're the love of my life? That I rather be single for the rest of my life than with someone else than you? That losing you and now Axel, would absolutely destroy me?"
All you could do was kiss him, but he did saw the tears falling down your cheeks.

On this day, 21 February 1965, el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X, instrumental speaker and activist of the US civil rights and Black power movements, was assassinated while preparing to address a crowd of supporters in New York. Formerly a member of the Nation of Islam (NoI), Malcolm X publicly split with the organisation due to issues such as NoI leader Elijah Mohammed failing to approve action to respond to police attacks on Black Muslims in Los Angeles. Instead he founded his own mosque, as well as the secular Organization of Afro-American Unity. Already a target of both the police and FBI, NoI activist Louis Farrakhan also declared Malcolm to be "worthy of death". On February 21, Malcolm stepped up to speak at the Audubon ballroom when he was shot. Mujahid Abdul Halim, a NoI member from New Jersey was apprehended fleeing the scene with a clip from one of the murder weapons, and admitted his participation in the killing. However, two other Black Muslims from the Harlem mosque were subsequently arrested and convicted of the crime: Khalil Islam and Muhamad Abdul Abdul Aziz. This was despite a lack of evidence and the fact that they, and Halim, protested their innocence. In an effort to win the freedom for Islam and Aziz, Halim even filed affidavits naming his four co-conspirators – all from the New Jersey mosque. But prosecutors repeatedly refused to reopen the case. After the case gained new attention following the 2020 release of a Netflix documentary series on the murder, Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance Jr agreed to review the case. The review revealed that evidence suggesting Islam and Aziz were innocent had been withheld from the defence, in part following pressure from FBI director J Edgar Hoover. Their convictions were eventually overturned in November 2021. With Carroll playing the director of the agency, while neither Tony nor Ziva remains with NCIS, it would be quite easy for him to appear in a video check-in, right? “It’s funny you should mention it. I just did a podcast with Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, and we had a chat about that, and I said, ‘Who knows? Sometimes the director may need to come in and check in on you kids because you’re on the other side of the world here,'” shares Carroll. “That would be kind of fun. Video check-in would be nice. I’d like to see their faces when Vance just walks into the room.”

Through actions like protests, letter-writings, die-ins, and more, we defeated 21 out of 22 anti-LGBTQ+ bills attempting to move through the Florida legislature. One of these bills, HB 1639, sponsored by local representative Doug Bankson, was particularly egregious. It sought to redefine "sex" in a way that excludes transgender, non-binary, and intersex people, and to prohibit a person's state identification documents from reflecting their gender identity. As the bill was heading towards its downfall in the legislature, the Deputy Executive Director, Robert Kynoch, of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) released a memo to county tax collectors in late January rescinding previous department policy (IR08 - Gender Requirements), which allowed for Florida residents to change the gender marker on their ID to accurately reflect their gender identity. The memo wrongly excludes gender identity from "sex" in an effort to subvert the democratic process to redefine sex - and prohibit gender marker amendments - absent legislative authority. In a similar way, the legislature continued its attacks on the rights of immigrants and people experiencing homelessness in the form of HB 1451. This bill, which passed and was signed into law by DeSantis, restricts the acceptance of community IDs issued by community organizations to immigrants and individuals experiencing homelessness. Community IDs are essential for demonstrating that a person is a resident and member of a given community. It is already tremendously difficult for these groups to acquire valid identification, and this law imposes yet another barrier to identification.' /End ID]

Red Rag - Nick Torres x Reader

It’s well known that Nick Torres and Dale Sawyer don’t get on.
Sawyer’s arrogant, ambitious and a complete dick.
Despite his reputation as a lone wolf Nick is actually a pack animal. He’s fiercely protective of his team, of his place in the hierarchy. It’s taken him a long time to acclimate but now that he’s settled, he’ll do anything to defend his position. He knows that Sawyer is gunning for it, he has been since he made the move onto this floor.
Despite his shortfalls Sawyer is actually a good agent. He’s observant, detail orientated. That’s how he realises that things have changed between you and Nick. There’s always been a little something there, the two of you have known each other a long time. It’s not unusual to see you together.
It’s the body language, he realises. Nick lingers in your proximity these days, he smiles more, there’s a look in his eyes when he meets your gaze that Sawyer would never have associated with Nick Torres.
Sawyer catches a lucky break when the day shift ask him to go undercover as a cage fighter. The plan is for him and Torres to fight one another in hopes of meeting the brains behind the outfit. Torres has the undercover experience, so he’s been designated the winner.
It rankles Sawyer just a little. He’s younger, fitter than the other man. He just hasn’t had the opportunity to prove himself yet. He considers Torres a loose cannon, unworthy of the position he’s acquired. He’s had problems with alcohol in the past, he’s sober now apparently, has been over a year but it’s not the mark of a good agent. He’s the weak link in the team, the one Sawyer has to unbalance if he wants a spot on the day shift and he knows just the way to do it.
The case is an important one, there’s national security at stake so Director Vance is there to oversee their initial training session. They’re supposed to be choreographing the fight, figuring out each other’s fighting styles. Torres keeps it controlled to Sawyer’s surprise, the stories he’s heard about Torres is that he’s a brawler. Sawyer knows he needs to hit the nuclear button if he wants to show the Director that he’s got what it takes to succeed.
Torres’s fighting style is aggressive, Sawyer telegraphs his moves carefully. When Nick swings in for a body blow, he captures his arm, whipping him around so his back is pressed against Sawyer’s chest, Sawyer’s arm locks around the other agent’s throat. The two of them grapple for a minute before Sawyer hisses.
“I fucked her too you know?”
It’s like waving a red rag in front of a bull.
Torres snaps, his left elbow jabbing right into his solar plexus. It winds Sawyer for a second but that second is all Torres needs to turn the tables. He’s on him in an instant, that raw anger contorting his features as he lashes out, punching Sawyer in the face again and again. He’s lucky he’s wearing the headguard, because every single one of those punches would have done some serious damage.
Its McGee that pulls Torres off him, the Director getting in between the two of them forcing them apart. Sawyer complies immediately, backing off, his eyes on Torres as he wipes the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand. He can see the fire in the other man, the tension in his jaw and he knows without a doubt if MeGee didn’t have hands on him, Torres would come at him again.
“Save it for the ring.” Director Vance snaps, jabbing his finger at Torres. “You’re going to need it.”

Ncis x reader - anything for you
Tumblr media
Can it be NCIS team leaving reader out with some fluff at the end ? Thank you so much - Anon💜
They did everything together, they went for meals, drinks, they hung out on days off and you weren’t there for any of it.
As you sat at your desk listening to them talk about the bar they were at last night you frowned heavily, ducking your head as you tried to focus on your paperwork.
“Hey (Y/N) how did you like the bar?”
You glanced up at Tony, you just looked at him for a moment before you went back to doing your paperwork.
“Hey come on! What’s you think?”
Tony walked over, plucking the pen from your hand and you snapped your head up to him.
“I’m busy.” You snapped.
You snatched the pen back, trying to contain your emotions and push everything down.
You didn’t want to blow in the middle of work, you didn’t want to cause a scene or draw attention to your area of the bullpen, so you just went back to your work.
Tony shared a look with McGee and Ziva, and even gibbs looked up at the odd behaviour from you.
“(Y/N)?” You boss asked.
He knew it wasn’t like you to not engage in talking to your coworkers, in fact you loved talking to them and you were always happy to have a chat.
You ignored them as they crowded around your desk and carried on with the last little paperwork and you stood up, gathering the file.
“I need to get these to Vance.”
You tired to move away from them but they had you cornered in.
“Not until you tell us what’s going on.” Tony said.
“Yeah, we know something is bothering you, we just want to help.” Ziva smiled.
You shook your head.
“Nothing, I’m just busy so can you get out of the way?”
“We know somethings wrong with you (Y/N), please talk to us.” McGee begged softly.
You rolled your eyes at them and pushed through them, dodging Gibbs as he tried to grab your arm and spun around, slapping his hand away.
“Don’t pretend you care now. You want I know what I thought about the bar? I don’t know, I wasn’t there. I wasn’t invited.”
With that you marched away leaving them all shocked.
“No one invited them?” Ziva asked.
“I thought they were there when I said about it? Everyone was, even Abby and Ducky.” Tony replied.
They felt the guilt washing up inside of them.
How long had they really been leaving you out of things?
They did try find you, try to apologise, but after your meeting with the director you were gone, and they were told you were taking a few days off for personal reasons.
Were you avoiding them now?
“Come on we have to make it up to them!” Abby said.
She was nearly in tears, feeling absolutely horrible for what they had been doing, they all felt horrible about it.
“Why not a game night? We can all get some food and drinks and go to (Y/N)s place?” McGee asked.
“I think that is a wonderful idea, we should go there around 8.” Ducky smiled.
They all agreed, and carried on with that they were doing because they still had hours yet before anyone could go home.
You were at home, having finished all your paperwork you decided to take some of your days off early just to clear your head and focus on some stuff you had to do.
Getting a shower, you changed into more comfortable clothes and looked through your chore list.
There was a knock on your door and you looked up, setting your list down you walked over and opened the door.
“Boss?” You asked.
“(Y/N).”
You stepped aside to let him in and went back into your kitchen to look at your list of things that needed done.
“What do you need Gibbs?”
“For you to talk.”
You looked at him in confusion and leant again the counter, arms crossed over your chest.
“Want to tell me what that was about back in the office.”
You scoffed a little, not scared of your boss while he was in your apartment knowing full well you didn’t have to play by his rules there and he knew that too.
He leant against your fridge.
“I’m fed up of everyone not even realising I’m there. When’s it going to get to far for you people Huh? When I’ve been shot or worse?”
Gibbs just listened.
You carried on ranting to him, telling how fed up you were, that you didn’t deserve what everyone was doing to you and it was unfair.
You stopped looking at him and sighed, shaking your head.
“Those files were transfer papers. I’m leaving your team, sorry.”
“I know.”
You looked up at him.
“Vance told me. And never say sorry.”
He lightly slapped the back of your head and sighed, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and pulling you in for a hug.
“You’ve got a week to decide if it’s what you really want.”
“I’ve already made up my mind Gibbs, why would I change it?”
He looked at his watched and pointed to your front door where a light knock came and you frowned as you looked up at him.
He pushed you towards the door and you padded into the hallway, leaving him in your kitchen.
You opened your door to find everyone there holding board games, a few gaming consoles and a bunch of bags.
“(Y/N) we’re sorry!”
Abby rushed you, tackling into a hug with so much force you were sent stumbling back a few steps and everyone walked in, setting everything down in your living room.
You hugged Abby back, and moved a little so you could push the door back before you went back to holding here as she sniffled into your shoulder.
“Woah okay Abby, it’s okay.”
You rubbed your hand up and down her back until she pulled away, wiping her tears frantically.
“It’s.. it’s not! We treated you so bad!”
You said nothing and turned to find everyone looking at you.
“We’re so sorry my dear, there is no excuse.” Ducky sighed.
“He’s right, there isn’t. At least let us try make it up to you?” McGee asked quietly.
You looked at them all, you were still furious with them, but after all you had been through before the events of the past few months, you decided it was worth giving them a change.
“Fine.”
“Yes! Come on!”
Abby grabbed your hand and pulled you into the living room, showing you everything that they had brought over.
They let you picked what to do, and for Gibbs and Ducky you settled for a bored game at first.
Everyone was laughing, smiling and having a great time, while you talked with Ducky, Tony and McGee were showing Ziva how to play a game on the console.
You spent time with them all one on one either playing a game or talking with them and soon enough hours slipped by.
Everyone decided to stay for the night, and you let Ducky take your bed so he wouldn’t hurt his back.
You were trying to sleep when you felt a paper ball hit your head.
“Tony?”
You sat up and looked across the room and he gestured for you to come over so you did, stepping over Ziva, McGee and Gibbs who were asleep on the floor.
Sitting next to Tony, you looked at him.
“Whats up?” You whispered.
He nudged your shoulder a little bit and offered you a small smile.
“I know it can’t make up for what we’ve been doing, but I hope it’s a start.” He whispered back.
You looked at everyone and you smiled softly.
“You’re right, it can’t.”
Tony frowned.
“But it’s a start, thanks DiNozzo.”
He grinned a little and covered you with his blanket.
“Well you’ve got us coming here every night for the rest of your life so you better get some more blankets.”
You laughed a little bit and rested your head on his shoulder, smiling as you sighed a little.
This was nice, and you were feeling a little better but it was going to take a lot more than this to make it up to you, but you knew they were going to keep trying.
After all they were your team, you knew no matter what at the end of the day they would have your back

Legend has it that James’s distant ancestor once slayed the local dragon — a monstrous white worm with a fondness for the sweet flesh of virgins. The young lord dismisses the legend as folklore, until archaeology student Angus Flint explores James’s property and unearths a massive reptilian skull and a pagan snake god’s ancient site of worship. When James’s virtuous girlfriend, Eve Trent (Catherine Oxenberg), suddenly disappears, James and Angus set out to investigate the foreboding cavern said to be the worm’s lair, where a centuries-old mystery begins to uncoil.

Donald Trump has a gag order placed on him by the judge in his Stormy Daniels hush money trial. So to get around the gag order various Trump lickspittles make pilgrimages to the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse to say stuff to the media which Trump himself is not allowed to say. Past Trump mouthpieces have included pseudo-hillbilly fascist Sen. J.D. Vance and House Speaker "MAGA Mike" Johnson.
Monday's Trump mouthpieces were a quintet of MAGA C-listers: Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA-09), ex-NYC police commissioner Bernie Kerik, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Trump campaign aide Jason Miller (not related to Stephen Miller), and Kash Patel - a onetime deputy director of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
While Trump has been beseeching his followers to show up outside the courthouse to demonstrate support for their Dear Leader, on Monday it was pro-democracy Trump opponents who were there in greater numbers.
A cadre of MAGA loyalists who had gathered to show their support for Donald Trump during his hush-money trial was shouted down by a bevy of cowbell-clanging anti-Trump protesters on Monday when they tried to speak outside of a lower Manhattan courthouse. [ ... ] The group that flanked the twice-impeached ex-president this time around included South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, former New York police commissioner Bernie Kerik, ex-Trump administration official Kash Patel, Trump senior advisor Jason Miller, and Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA). All but Patel, meanwhile, were customarily decked out in Trump’s standard red tie and navy suit combo.
Yep, four of the five designated Trump lickspittles were dressed in Trump uniforms. Did he dress them himself over at Trump Tower?
Alan Wilson got an earful when he tried to spew the Trump line.
With boos raining down on Wilson, one demonstrator could be heard shouting “go home you carpetbagging fools.” Another protester who camped out behind the pro-Trump speakers with a large “Bootlickers” sign relentlessly blew a whistle while ringing a cowbell. According to independent reporter Jacqueline Sweet, the man was given a citation by law enforcement for “too much cowbell.” Patel, who is expected to take a senior White House role if Trump returns to power, portrayed the ex-president as a victim of an “unconstitutional weaponization of justice.” It was difficult to hear what he had to say as the crowd chanted: “Kash Patel, Go To Hell!” Kerik was also subjected to targeted insults when he spoke, with protesters calling him a “bald-headed bigot” throughout his comments. According to New York Magazine correspondent Oliva Nuzzi, the Trump-hating crowd also took aim at the speakers for dressing just like the former president, prompting them to call the MAGA group “red tie terrorists.” She added that the demonstrators even got a laugh from Miller, who chuckled when one protester wondered if they had bought their suits at “Dictators R Us.”
To use a favorite Trump word, Monday's Trump mouthpieces were real losers.
Rep. Andrew Clyde's rise to fame in Georgia was as a prominent gun store owner. One wonders how many of his guns make it up to NYC to be used illegally.
Bernie Kerik is a convicted felon for tax fraud who was later pardoned by Trump. He served several years behind bars for his crimes.
Alan Wilson has made false election fraud claims even before the Trump presidency and is a serial litigator for far right causes.
Kash Patel once served as an aide to Devin Nunes – the former House member who unsuccessfully sued a cartoon cow.
Jason Miller admitted to hiring prostitutes and having extramarital affairs with two campaign staffers. Republican family values – just like Trump.
Meidas Touch has a video report on Monday's scene outside the courthouse. (never mind the plant commercial in the middle).
youtube
If you're anywhere near NYC, visit the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse area on a day that the hush money trial is in session. There's a lunch break starting roughly at 11:30 AM and court is recessed for the day in the afternoon before the building closes at 5:00 PM. Bring your own cow bell and sign.
Court is in session this week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Next Monday court is closed for Memorial Day but should be in session on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The case may go to the jury sometime late next week.
The Manhattan courthouse is at 100 Centre Street; take the 4, 5, or 6 subway trains to the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station and walk about four blocks north. The crowds and the Trump bootlickers seem to be directly across the street from the courthouse at Collect Pond Park.
EDIT: If Trump toadies had a bad day outside the courtroom, the one and only defense witness for Trump seems to have had an even worse one in court.

That Voice
Tumblr media
alden x reader
Alden had a long day. First, he was running late, which meant he wouldn’t be able to get the team pastries that morning. Second, when he got to the Navy Yard, he realized he left his wallet on the counter in the kitchen. Third, he forgot he had a meeting with Director Vance and SECNAV. It wasn’t until he got a call from Vance, did he remember the meeting. Lastly, on the way home from work, he got caught in DC rush hour traffic. All he wanted to do was curl up in bed and go to sleep. That was until he heard the most beautiful voice he’d ever heard softly singing in the shower.
“So this is love… Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm… so this is love. So this is what makes life divine. I’m all aglow…Mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm… and now I know. The key to all heaven is mine.” Alden almost forgotten (Y/N) had moved in when she lost her house due to a suspect stalking her and she needed a safe place to stay for the time being. That was almost 3 weeks ago, and Alden would be lying if he said he hadn’t enjoyed her staying there. There was just something in the late nights in the greenhouse spent looking at the countless stars through his telescope, that made him fall even more in love with her than he thought possible. Or maybe it’s the way her eyes sparkle in the dazzling midday sunlight. Maybe it’s the sound of her laugh when she’s watching a comedy show she’s seen a hundred times. Whatever it is, he’s absolutely head over heels for her.
‘That voice. I could listen to her voice all day long.’ Alden thought.

Birthday Blues | Alden Parker x f!reader
Tumblr media
Summary: When Parker's birthday arrives he starts to feel self-conscious about the age gap between you
Warnings: fantasizing (not detailed), age gap
Word count: 1545
[A/N] I wanted to post this on my birthday last week but my brain took the weekend off 😂
'Oh great, another year older' Parker thought as he woke up on the morning of his birthday
It didn’t used to bother him as much as it does now. But it does. Why?
You
A 30-year-old woman who for some reason he can’t begin to explain, fell in love with him. But you did. You fell in love with your new team leader. Parker shook his head with a sigh as he got out of bed and went into the bathroom to get ready for work. The two of you have been dating for seven months. You actually met through Fornell, and you fell in love with him before he joined NCIS. When he first started, you two decided to end your relationship and just remain co-workers and friends. That didn’t last long.
You couldn’t concentrate every day, knowing what it felt like to be in his arms. Waking up next to him or to the smell of whatever pastries he popped out to get for you.
The two of you met at one of Fornell’s poker games. You weren’t a pro but you were still good enough to win some pocket money. Fornell was like an uncle to you, Gibbs too. Gibbs was also there and despite telling you that he’d never play poker with you again, sure enough he got sucked in every time. Director Vance was there too, which was always weird for you because you rarely see him outside the office or without that stern look on his face.
This time you lost repeatedly, and they were starting to get worried about you because you made some very rookie mistakes. These mistakes were caused by the incredibly attractive man sitting opposite you. All your attention was going to not staring at him and making it obvious.
What made him so attractive to you? Was it the way his hazel eyes focused on the cards in his hand. Or the way his eyebrows knitted together as he anticipated his next move or was it the way his long fingers curl around the small cards. You couldn't help but imagine what those long fingers could do to you. How they’d feel against your skin. You shuddered just thinking about it and hoped no one noticed. Despite your efforts, the dirty part of your mind betrays you. Your heart races as your fantasies run wild and you take in every little detail, each mesmerizing move he makes.
His voice didn’t help either, it was deep and melodious. It just made him more attractive, sexier.
What you didn’t know was that he was going through the same thing as you. It’s his first time at Fornell’s poker night and the last thing he expected was a beautiful girl. When he first arrived, he was immediately captivated by you. You were absolutely stunning, with long dark hair and piercing blue eyes. As the night went on, he realized that he couldn't concentrate on the game. He was too busy watching you, and it was starting to become a distraction. He was content to watch the plays of the others, drinking in the beauty of the woman across from him. During the game, he stole glances at you, admiring your every feature, from the graceful curves of your body to the enchanting dimples that lined your cheeks.
When the night ended, everyone started to head home, or in Gibbs’ case, crash in the spare room. You and Alden walked to your cars together in silence. Being so close to him made you nervous.
The only thing that could be heard was the light noise of cars in the distance. At least until Alden broke it.
“Did you go on easy on me?” Alden smiled, a twinkle in his eye, God that smile, “Because it was my first time?”
For a moment, you were confused but then it dawned on you. Fornell must have warned him about you. You felt your cheeks heat up as you’re reminded of the real reason you tanked tonight. It was less embarrassing, so you said ‘yes’
“Well, I appreciate it, I’m not that good at poker,”
You smiled and decided to jump at the opportunity in front of you. You smiled at him and shrugged, “I could teach you if you like. Take all of Toby’s money,”
He took you up on your offer and that’s how your relationship started, a couple of innocent games that turned into something more.
The age gap didn't seem to bother you and it had never concerned Parker either, but as the day of his birthday approached, he couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious about the age gap between the two of you. You could see the worry etched on his face and it broke your heart.
The man was a pastry aficionado. He loved to bring you and the team exotic pastries to try. So, you decided to make some of your own. You used to bake all the time but, due to your hectic work schedule, you hadn't had the chance to bake anything in a while. To do this, you chose to do the one thing you hadn’t done since you were a teenager. Play hooky. A few days before, you had been dropping subtle hints that you were not feeling well. You expected Parker to be suspicious, especially considering the timing and the fact that he was a trained investigator, but he didn’t seem to catch on. But he was really worried about you.
He had been worried about you ever since. He had spent countless hours by your side, making sure you were comfortable and had everything you needed. It made your heart swell because of how much he cared, but also made you feel a little guilty as you weren’t sick. As he prepared to leave for work that morning, he couldn't help but express his concern once more.
"You sure you are going to be okay?" he asked you, his voice filled with worry.
You smiled weakly at him, grateful for his concern. "I'm fine, Alden, just need some rest. I should be okay later," you reassured him.
He gave you a gentle nod and closed the door to your bedroom as he left for work. As soon as you heard his car drive away, you got up from the bed. You quickly got changed, ready to head to the store to pick up the ingredients you needed. You grabbed your purse and car keys, throwing on a sweater to keep warm from the chill in the air.
When you arrived home, with your arms full of grocery bags that filled with everything you needed, you put on some music and got to work. You quickly put it all away and started rolling out the dough and beating together the filling, the smell of cinnamon and vanilla filling the house.
With the help of some online videos and a few of your grandma’s recipes, you had the perfect pastry dough. You spent the next few hours baking each piece, trying different recipes and attempting to combine flavors. Hours later, you were overwhelmed with excitement. After all that work, it was finally time to taste your creation. You grabbed a tray of the perfect golden-brown pastries and went to the team’s headquarters.
You took a deep breath as you exited the elevator, knowing that you would be seen as soon as you did. McGee was the first person to see you.
“Hey, you okay?” he asked concerned. Obviously, they knew why you weren’t at work but not why you were there now. At McGee’s voice, everyone looked up and followed his eyeline.
Immediately, everyone stood up, looking at you and wondering what’s going on but they quickly noticed the tray in your hands.
Torres, being the curious one, was the first to make a move towards the tray. He reached out his hand, only to have it smacked away by you. You couldn't help but chuckle at his reaction.
"Happy Birthday, Alden," you said, your voice filled with love and affection. You could see the surprise and happiness in his eyes as he looked at the pastries on the tray.
“You aren’t really sick, are you?” he asked as you stopped in front of him.
“I’m sorry, baby, don’t be mad but I wanted to do something special for you,” you smiled nervously as you gestured to the pastries in your hands.
As the rest of the group gathered around, you began to explain how you had spent the entire day baking these treats for Alden. You had tried out a new recipe and had even decorated them with his favorite color frosting.
It had been a long day, and everyone was exhausted and starving. You gave everyone a pastry, carving out some extra slices for Parker. Everyone took a bite of their slices and a satisfied “ahhh” went up in the room. Everyone exclaimed how delicious your pastries were.
Parker walked over to you, kissing your temple, 'Thank you, beautiful,” he said, finally managing a smile.
You kissed him on the lips, lingering for just a moment and whispered, “No matter how many birthdays come and go, I'm never going to love anyone more than I do you.”
