Can you believe it? An update on this hell fic?? Yes! Kudos to @kissoflightning who has been binging and commenting and oh gosh this has been fun. Now that everyone agrees that Elijah in this fic is deeply fucked in the head, can we figure out why he's that way?

“I’m delighted you came, Professor.” He smiled at her.

“I’ll fairly admit that I’m a bit surprised,” she answered, cautious but intrigued.

“I know you wouldn’t let just any student take you out on a meeting of this type,” Elijah said. “I also know that you are as intelligent as you are ambitious…” He raised an eyebrow. “I took care to afford us discretion so we might have a heart to heart, Miss Stern. I’d like to know why you gave my brother a failing grade.”

She half-laughed. “I suspected this would be about Neal.” She pinched her lips and kept quiet as a waiter approached to bring their drinks—wine for her, cranberry soft for Elijah. “I’m afraid your brother is gifted with an unprecedented ability to deliver anything but what I task him to. It pains me, having to fail him. He’s talented—extremely talented. But there are rules, and I am bound to follow them.”

Elijah smiled the way he would have swatted at an annoying fly. “Of course,” he said without agreeing. “But we’re talking about making history, Amanda, and you know that much. You already have your part in making it, through this decision, and if you make the choice that you know will serve science best, your future self will thank you. So why follow the rules when you could follow your interest and that of the many over, what? A shortsighted concern for disciplinary sanctions?” Elijah smirked. “By the time they catch up with you, university teaching will be the least of your concerns.”

She observed him through calculating eyes, and he liked the way she looked at him, catching onto his line of thought.

“You are fourteen years old,” she said.

Elijah was the first android Chloe ever made, just for a “household helper” sort of thing. When she came up with the idea, she never anticipated androids becoming a worldwide phenomenon

Chloe calls all her Elijah models an ‘it’ rather than ‘he/him’

The specific model in the picture is Chloe’s favorite, she calls him “Eli” rather than “Elijah” like the others

“Eli” is the android she used for her “Kamski test” when she made Hank choose between shooting him or sparing him
