Researching them and watching their interviews/media doesn't mean you understand them
Writing fanfic about real people is not okay
Your favorite actor/celebrity is not your therapist
Do not trauma dump on your favorite actor/celebrity
If they are available for a Cameo, DON'T assume you can ask them ANYTHING, keep it light so they aren't forced into an awkward situation
Para-social relationships will always be one sided, they don't need you to be their champion and they will not fall in love with you or notice you more for your efforts
Don't say inappropriate shit about/to them. It's a new age in technology, you ARENT anonymous, they WILL likely see what you say
Actors/celebrities are real people, not constructs, not idols. Don't speak to them like they're a character
Maybe they saved your life. Maybe they're the most important thing to you. Maybe they mean EVERYTHING to you. They don't need to know that. I know that may sound unfair, but THEY DONT NEED TO KNOW IT. It's not going to make their life better. GIVE THEM SPACE
Never forget that you have a presence and an impact on the world around you, but that is a double sided blade: you AFFECT the things around you, you have an EFFECT on the world, your words will always reach SOMEONE. Make sure what you're saying isn't harmful, tag your shit, be considerate.
Strike authorization has passed by 98.32% and SAG leadership are returning to negotiate with game companies to secure a fair deal for voice actors and mocap actors
This DOES NOT MEAN that a strike is happening, it simply means that members are willing to go on strike and leadership can use this as leverage when negotiating. The deadline to come to a deal is is 9/28. If a deal is not reached THEN will there be a strike.
Please remember that the best outcome is that there is no strike and companies simply give workers a fair deal. A strike is a last resort.
While this does not directly affect developers in the game industry, that does not mean it's not important. Voice actors have been treated like shit in the game industry and are under threat by AI. The more people that are unionized, the easy it is for others to unionize. Do not dismiss it just because it is not developers.
The companies that would be affected by a hypothetical strike are:
Activision Productions Inc.,
Blindlight LLC,
Disney Character Voices Inc.,
Electronic Arts Productions Inc.,
Epic Games, Inc.,
Formosa Interactive LLC,
Insomniac Games Inc.,
Take 2 Productions Inc.,
VoiceWorks Productions Inc., and
WB Games Inc.
At the moment, no boycott has been called so there is nothing for consumers or anyone not involved with SAG-AFTRA to do, other than to be supportive on social media and report unauthorized AI recreation of voice actors work. Otherwise sit tight.
I'd really appreciate it if people who reblogged the last post also reblog the update
I will never get over seeing what it actually looked like when they were mo-capping for The Quarry. Like, can you imagine acting out a horror movie in this fucking bright white tile doctor’s office looking room? I know that’s always how it is for these kinds of games but it’s shocking to see the behind the scenes stuff still. These guys acted their asses off.
Evan playing dead. Miles pretending to be wolf-bit. Justice and his shotgun that looks like a glorified vacuum cleaner hose attachment. I love them so much.
Ken Lally, who did the motion capture work for Wesker in Resident Evil 5, capture for Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes and was the voice of Robert Kendo in the 2 and 3 Remakes.
We would not have the Wesker we all know and love if wasn't for Ken's mocap portrayal of him. His iconic poses, the martial art and stunt work background, as well as his own knowledge of combat and infusing all of that into Wesker himself.
My first experiment with Mocopi motion trackers. Ref was me sitting in my office chair.
Still needed a little clean up to get here, but still a lot nicer than results I’ve gotten from video-based mocap like Rokoko Video. You can’t cross limbs like that without it freaking out lol.
A very special someone is now gracing the halls of Centroid Motion Capture 🥰. Centroid is the company responsible for the mocap work in Fort Solis, but not only that, they have quite the extensive list of credits that span games, film and television. Some of their credits include:
I was curious about Rachel Amber's mocap actress and after some research found this interview
youtube
(From the 1 hour mark onwards)
Rachel in BTS remastered is 3 people! That's just fitting to her chameleon & multiple-lives personality.
Her original mocap actress is not given enough credits for Rachel's dancer & poser movements.. And for remastered facial movements, deck 9 decided to switch to someone else after re-auditioning.
The shy avoidance of eye contact never fails to deliver
Personally I didn't notice a big difference in the facial expressions between original & remastered. (Even though with the OG face model Rachel's smirk when Chloe chose the tattoo option is more smug/obvious in a way.) Not sure if any of you guys have noticed any other differences 🤔
