Geronimo is the little bat in Branch’s hair. A bloodhound bug based off Barb’s Debbie, just pop-ified and cotton candy coloured version!

It kind of gives me life that JD thinks he’s bad at writing music or isn’t talented at it despite the fact that he wrote every fucking song that brozone ever produced and they’re were the most famous most popular pop band ever they were the micheal Jackson’s of their universe my guy every song you ever wrote topped the charts. JD is probably the most talented songwriters alive right now at least in regards to pop music and he thinks of himself as untalented. JD is the kind of artist and perfectionist who always sees his work as mediocre. Like my guy Floyd’s songs are probably really good but it is much easier to write good songs that are designed for one artist than it is to write a song for a boyband that shows off each individual members talent and also is in everyone’s range despite half the group being prepubescent and the other half being post voice crack. My dude it’s not normal for boy bands to write there own music at all I can’t think of a single boy or girl group that didn’t have a professional writing all there songs. I like the idea that within the music industry JD is considered like the picasso of songwriting and music composition for figuring out how to make the Brozone harmonies sound so good. like he is notorious and doesn’t even know it.
This could just be a me theory but I always thought that each of the bros worked so well as a band because they each were like exceptionally stupidly talented in different aspects of preforming like Floyd is the vocal powerhouse, clay is the best dancer, Bruce is the best at crowd work, JD is the music composition guy/songwriter and Branch is good at instruments/ has the vocal range.
Anyway incredible chapter
Yesss, JD is so so talented but he can’t see that himself. Despite the larger than life persona he adopted, he’s always felt unworthy of genuine praise because, well, anyone could do that too right? (He was wrong)
Yess, they worked well because they all played on their different talents, and JD knew this and incorporated it, though as time passed he enforced more rigid roles for each of them, because of how well the fans responded. It was also subconsciously easier to manage them within those expectations. His talents will be explored more as the story progresses, but as a majority is through JD’s personal lens, and Branch who was too young, it’s not been touched on, but he was a very talented song writer (though lyrically not so much, as pressure to make more songs was added he got lazy with some of it, hence the similar sounding song lyrics and names, which will be a bit of a running joke).
Thank you for the ask! Glad you’re enjoying it! ✨

Would you recommend the SSSS comic? I know little of it beside the very beautiful artstyle and premise
Tumblr media
to answer the question of if i would recommend SSSS as a comic: yes, yes i would.
a description for those who don't know: Stand Still Stay Silent is a post-apocalyptic horror + adventure webcomic set in the nordics (norway, sweden, denmark, finland, iceland) that have been isolated from the rest of the world and gone back to their old gods. the the world outside of safe zones is full of trolls and beasts - humans and mammals that got infected by a horrible virus and turned into monsters. the story follows a ragtag crew that ventures into the old world (derelict denmark) on an expedition to collect books.
the comic updated every workday until it concluded in 2022, and consists of two Adventures. the creator had plans for many adventures with these characters in this world, but ended it after two when she wanted to take a new direction with her life.
what i love about it:
- the art is GORGEOUS. it's been a huge source of inspiration for me. open any page and it's a masterpiece, and you will ask yourself "how the FUCK did she update this FIVE DAYS A WEEK"
- the characters are wonderful and endearing. i just, i love them so much. i am so thankful lalli hotakainen exists he is one of my #1 blorbos forever
- the world is so cool. the blend of chunky sci-fi and norse mythology fantasy magic slaps. it goes so hard. i fell so hard for this comic when i got to the big ferry ship with a viking style dragon head prow added to it. it's everything
- it really really gets nordic cultures. it's difficult to explain all the dynamics and nuances but it just gets it. it brings me as a scandinavian a lot of joy to read a story that speaks to my heart this way. the attitudes, the language barriers, the cultural differences... it was so refreshing to me in a media landscape dominated by american stories. when the pandemic hit, i decided to reread the comic because i found such an odd comfort in seeing how it depicted the scandinavian countries reacting to, well, a pandemic.
- there's kittycats
what i don't like about it:
- the most glaring and obvious flaw is that everyone in the comic is white. there's not a single character of color anywhere, not even i background shots or the prologue. there's no mention of the saami people (the indigenous people of northern europe), either. i believe this was done in ignorance more than malicious intent, but the implications are Extremely Bad and it's been bothering me (AND MANY OTHERS) since day 1. that is the number one caveat i will give to anyone wanting to check this comic out. i've been in the discourse trenches and i am not going to excuse this. it's just bad!
- you can tell in the middle of adventure 2 that the creator has kind of lost interest in the work, around the time when she found jesus i guess. like, very few people can keep up work on the same creative project for years and years and years and i think it's fine that she wanted to drop it, but it's a bit sad to see the comic dragged to its end like a limp corpse, and feeling like the creator no longer really cares about the characters.
- minna sundberg has said and done some questionable things, presumably gotten somewhat radicalised over time, and has also converted to hardcore christianity which is what her new works are about. there's nothing about this in SSSS - there is a moment of christianity represented in the story in a sort of mythological sense, just like the other religions, but this was written before minna's conversion. her new works... are a Choice. i have much to say about them, and i have, and im not gonna rehash it now.
SO YEAH hopefully this will help you take an Informed Choice! i got into this comic in 2015 and was deep in the fandom and it's for better or for worse part of my soul foundation now.
i also recommend A Redtail's Dream, minna's "practice comic" before SSSS, based on finnish mythology and the kalevala.

AHHHH I LOVE YOUR IF! THE IDEA THE WORLD THE ROS ARE MY OBSESSION 24/7!!! the only IFs that i manage to share some braincells with next to yours are from sai, she has some fiction and slice of life and here characters feel so real - that is something i really enjoy. @dereliction-if , @pavedinashes-if @inkandlaces-if and a vampire one i don't remember the name of but it is new. Unfortunately all her writing is still wip but there should be demos this year and i cannot wait. so for now my brainrot is all yours! I had a very hard heartbreak over the shadow society back then before it was abandoned and it really tore my little heart apart. :(
DID I SAY HOW MUCH I LOVE YOUR WRITING ALREADY? this is such a fun idea to give back to the community especially since so many trolls have been poisoning the blogs throughout the last weeks!
I have no clue how you are doing formatting and color on tumblr, especially on an ask so props to you LOL.
In relation to trolls: our blog has been unaffected, I believe. I'm really sorry to hear that not everyone has been as lucky. It's the least we can do since the community has been really welcoming to us and our project, and there are many people within this community that have great projects that we want to share!

For Trolls Fic recommendations, literally anything by blade_that_was_broken. I have literally read all of their fics and all of them are extremely good
A Promise by AliNear is really good if you want something that it's only one chapter and hurt/comfort. All three Just Dory fics are also really good for that.
MelonMass has a series of fics that are interconnected but thar mostly can be read as one-shots (especially recommend their recent Hickory fic, it's really good)
Dereliction and A Little Winter Miracle for some longer/on-going fics. And I don't know if you know this one, but there is this really good Clay and Branch fic called I Always Be There and it just updated, I don't think you would like it but maybe check it out.
I'll be sure to check those authors out, I don't think I've heard of them so we'll see if I recognize any of their fics.
I love Dereliction and A Little Winter Miracle and I was so excited to see that Dereliction updated today!
Funny you should mention I Will Always Be There. Given how I am the author! Not gonna lie, I was surprised to see you mention it, I thought for sure that my eyes decided me.

All Hallows - Goblin Woods
Our next area of the All Hallows map celebrates an aspect of Halloween that goes right back to the holiday's ultimate origins but is nowadays remembered only in bits and pieces—Celtic legends and lore surrounding the mystical time of Samhain, and the fairy tales that emerged from those underpinnings. Not only goblins but banshees, witches, and all manner of beings from a dark enchanted forest may be found here.
The entrance to Goblin Woods lies along a winding path that begins among the buildings of the entry plaza. The town-style buildings of the plaza transition to derelict rural structures and then the trees of a dense Old World forest, until guests arrive at an archway formed out of two bare trees whose branches curl overhead and merge into each other. The name of the area is picked out in fiber optic lights that intermittently turn on with a “fairy dust” effect...but, crucially, fragments of the lettering are scattered across the twigs and the words are only legible from certain angles. (The sweet spots are marked by rings of circular tiles of varying sizes set into the ground, colored red with white spots. Knowledgeable guests might feel uneasy about this.)
The archway opens onto a clearing in the forest in which is a tiny village right out of a Brothers Grimm storybook. Shops and eateries occupy thatched-roof cottages, and a music loop of eerie, “mystical” instrumentals and fairytale-inspired pieces fades in and out. Further paths lead off of this area through densely wooded spaces, arriving at the area attractions.
Tumblr media
Characters
Goblin Woods is not as heavily populated with themed characters as, say, Ghoul City, but it's not unusual to encounter goblins, trolls, and other unsavory creatures from fairy tales scuttling about the area. There are also a handful of major characters, though as is the case with most fairy tales, they have no names, only descriptive titles. They may be found roaming almost anywhere in the area, including the labyrinth.
The Witch of the Woods: Is the crone in the black cloak kindly or wicked? If approached, will she accommodate your request for selfies or visit you with a fearsome curse (or both)?
The Green Men: These giants made of twisted branches and leaves (stilt-walking performers) wander the back ways of the forest, and no one knows how many there really are or what their purpose is. Just be careful what you lean against...
The Fairy Queen: Highest lady of the Unseelie Court, beautiful, graceful, and mysterious. Offer her no gifts, and accept none from her.
Attractions
The Tale of Tam Lin: A dark ride following the story of Tam Lin, from Bonnie Janet's first meeting with the mysterious young man in Carterhaugh Forest to her daring rescue of him from the Fair Folk on Halloween night itself!
2. Wild Hunt: A suspended roller coaster based on the pan-European myth of ghostly skyborne riders that chase down unlucky wanderers in the forest.
3. Puck's Labyrinth: The maze attraction of Goblin Woods takes the form of a disorienting journey through the deep woods and fairy mounds. It's a wide-ranging maze that affords glimpses of the other area attractions via gaps in the foliage as well as giant spider webs, glowing mushrooms, sinister trees, and other sights of the haunted forest.
4. Fae Circle Dance: A simple carnival spinner with a literal twist—the suspended cars move along a series of interwoven tracks, and the patterns can be quite unpredictable.
Shops and Eateries
5. Glamours: The Goblin Woods costume shop focuses on motifs of fairy tale, fantasy, and days of yore. Some of the offerings include: general medieval and Renaissance looks, dragons, fairies, knights, mermaids, royalty, unicorns, walking trees, witches, and wizards.
6. Goblin Market: A toy, book and curio shop for lovers of fantasy and fairy tales, especially if their tastes run a little to the dark.
7. Gingerbread Cottage: A combination candy shop and bakery/tea shop, perfect for taking a break during the day or evenings. Be sure to ask about special fairytale-inspired tea blends and “soul cake” pastries!
8. Morgan's Cauldron: A small counter-service eatery with a menu of simple meals—soups, sandwiches, fresh fruit and cheese platters, and the like.
9. The Witch's Hut: Located toward the back of Goblin Woods rather than in the “village” area with the other shops, the Witch's Hut is a tiny metaphysical shop selling crystals, Tarot cards, mystical jewelry, and other accoutrements. It's a good place to run into the Witch of the Woods.

365: Patti Smith // Horses
Tumblr media
Horses Patti Smith 1975, Arista
There’s a man named Nicky Drumbolis who lives up in Thunder Bay, Ontario, in an apartment that doubles as perhaps Canada’s greatest bookstore almost no one has ever seen. The septuagenarian Drumbolis is short and nearly deaf, a master printmaker and eccentric autodidact linguist. For years he ran a second-hand shop on Toronto’s Queen St. called Letters, until push (the size of his collection) came to shove (skyrocketing rent) and he went north, where he could afford a sufficiently large space to spread out. Unfortunately, Thunder Bay has little market for antiquarian books and micro press ephemera, and his shop is located on one of the most crime-ridden streets in the country. And so, the transplanted Letters has no storefront—in fact, the building looks derelict, its windows boarded up and covered with what at first glance seems to be graffiti but on closer inspection resembles a detail from the cave paintings at Lascaux. Letters’ patronage is limited to the online traffic in rare first editions that brings him a small income, and the occasional by-appointment adventurer willing to make the long, long 1,400 km drive from Toronto or further abroad.
When you enter, you find yourself in what appears to be a well-kept single room used bookstore, the kind there used to be dozens of in every major city. Books of every type and topic line the shelves, neatly arranged by category, and a long glass display features more delicate items, nineteenth century broadside newspapers and the like, some so fragile they seem on the verge of crumbling into dust. But this is not, Drumbolis warns you as soon as you attempt to take a book off of the shelf, a bookstore: this room is a facsimile, a tribute exhibit to as he calls it, “the fetish object formerly known as The Book.” The real bookstore lies in the chambers beyond this front room, the full catalogues of bygone presses, the one-of-one personal editions he’s assembled over decades of following his personal obsessions, the stacks which crowd his own modest sleeping quarters.
To Drumbolis, the original utility of the book as a container and mediator of information is now effectively passed; virtually every popular book in existence has been digitized, their contents instantly available in formats that are better-indexed, more easily parsed, and more readily transferrable than the humble physical book ever allowed. To desire a book is to desire possession of the thing rather than its contents, this edition, this printing, perhaps this particular copy that once passed through the hands of someone significant. He can show you the copy of John Stuart Mills’ On Liberty that was owned by Canada’s founding father John A. MacDonald, and argue convincingly that this object helped set the course of a nation’s history; or a set of Shakespeare’s complete works bearing Charles Dickens’ ex libris, which sets off a long anecdote about how Dickens liked to troll his houseguests with a collection of fake bookshelves. Drumbolis’s collection is threaded through his life like an old wizard in a fantasy novel whose flesh has fused with the roots of a tree: he eats with his books and he sleeps with them; collecting fuels his arcane research and dictates where and when he travels; 25 years ago he uprooted his life when his collection bade him, and though he’s starved for company in the frozen city it chose for him, he abides.

My own case of collectivitis is not so advanced, though Lord only knows what I’ll be like when I’m Old (I’m currently 47). And despite the conceit of this blog, I’ve seldom spent much time in these reviews dwelling on the physical properties of my records, evaluating the relative merit of pressings and the like (or even mentioning which one I’ve got). But as I sit here listening to my copy of Patti Smith’s Horses for the first time, I feel a small but definite sense of wonderment. It’s an early ‘80s Canadian pressing, so near-mint I might’ve stepped back in time and bought it new, still with what I take to be the original inner-sleeve, pale azure (to match the Arista disc label) with a texture almost like crepe paper.
Tumblr media
It’s a delightful, surprising contrast to the iconic black and white cover portrait of Smith by her former paramour Robert Mapplethorpe. Generations of fans have stared at this image as they listened, not simply because Smith is hot (though this is undeniably true) but because the music’s visionary qualities demand an embodied locus. That a record, unlike a book, can speak aloud, has always primitively fascinated me; that this one contains what I can only describe as rituals makes it magical, this physical copy that is unique because it’s this one that is speaking to me in this moment.
Smith writes on the back of the sleeve:
“…it’s me my shape burnt in the sky its me the memoire of me racing through the eye of the mer thru the eye of the sea thru the arm of the needle merging and jacking new filaments new risks etched forever in a cold system of wax…horses groping for a sign for a breath…”
“charms, sweet angels,” she concludes. “you have made me no longer afraid of death.” The record becomes an extension of Smith’s body as it existed in that time—I think here of the physicality of the moment in “Break it Up” where you can faintly hear her striking her own chest with the flat of her palm to make her voice quaver. It makes me wonder how anyone could sell this thing once they have it: not because it is particularly rare or difficult to acquire, but because it’s hard for me to imagine the experience of slipping the lustrous black disc from its dressing and setting the needle down upon it as anything but a personal one. It is poetry and waves; the subliming of the idea of a rave-up; Tom Verlaine shedding his earthly mantle in an explosion of birds; John Cale; Kaye, Král, Daugherty, and Sohl; one of my boys from Blue Öyster Cult; the pounding of hooves and the Mashed Potato.
I suppose what I’m describing is a fetish, my pleasure in acquiring these things and writing these reviews the hard and strange work of finding life’s joy in its dusty corners. This year has run through my fingers like water, as it seems they all do now. But on my good days, all these words behind me and the records in front of me seem like a document of abundance.

A Cursed Childhood Imagination
When me and my sister were little kids, we used to have a very elaborate imagination.
So much so that we created an entire cinematic universe about a troll named NeeNee, who eventually transitioned to female and changed her name to NeeNa Honey M. Troelle and married a man named Romeo who was also a Poptropica character, and they had exactly 346 kids together that we never came up with names for or incorporated into the cinematic universe in any way.
Every day we would literally LARP these characters by word of mouth, and the more we did so the more progressively fucked up the cinematic universe became.
I don't remember much but all I remember is the story somehow ending up with NeeNa's oldest daughter Latoya ending up in a derelict orphanage somewhere in the Scottish countryside (the orphanage was also being run by a fucking sheep) while NeeNa and Romeo continued to go on vacations to the goddamn Bahamas and shit and just basically lived their best life.
Honestly, I feel for Latoya. I hope she's ok now.

Dereliction is a fanfic written by @jellfishjellfish and it’s all about John Dory coming home to take care of his littlest brother. Branch is so hurt by what has happened to him and John will be damned before he gives up on being there his family.
This chapter was so good it actually brought me to tears. Genuinely I was holding back the water works while drawing some of these pages and adding dialogue.
I hope you like this comic Jellfish. I have ideas for more art, just not nearly as dramatic
