Ronja X Ranach pup design rant

Spare me as my English isn’t always the best and is not my first language. I’m still learning lol

Ok so, just because this has always bothered me. But I was randomly thinking of a scenario where one of Ronja’s daughters or all three met their father Ranach (Let's pray he’ll be dead before that ever happens) but how the heck is Ranach going to know that any of those three are his children. When they were first Introduced I was quite disappointed that none of the pups had any black in them. Plus Kique held a pup design contest where his patrons were allowed to vote on the designs and well they looked nothing like the final designs we have now that honestly just suck. They all look like completely different characters from different parents.

Concept Design's (Sadly never chosen. But look more like both parents)

VS Final Canon Design's (I hate the random ear markings lol )

1. they look nothing like Ranach or Ronja for that matter (Maybe Elvind at most)

2. Navea? Is just a pre-made bought design, so I highly doubt she’d be considered a “ cream agouti with snow ticking” as both of her parents have neither of those genes. Sure Ronja isn’t blood related to the Asmundr pack but still it wouldn’t work. If anything the black should have been the more dominant color for all three pups in general and it would have been way more realistic. And he obviously took the lazy route to create her lmao. Like kiq man, if you wanted that design in your DARPG comic, then you should of just made it into a separate character (not that we need anymore) 3. These dog’s noses are broken and aren’t smart enough to just sniff each other like actual fucking dogs. So I doubt he'll ever know

Also it’s stated in Rananch’s genes that he has pseudo-irish (how?). Ok so I’m not the best when it comes to genes in general so please correct me if I’m wrong. But it is very well known that his parents are Vandi and Areneak. From what we have seen they are both dark colored dogs, while Areneak does have some white in him. How would that pass into his pups coming out red looking. Granted we don’t know what his parents or vandi’s parents look like, but it just leaves me confused.

As for Ronja’s mother Zita, I guess it could maybe work? Though again Naeva’s design would still not be possible.

In my honest opinion, I feel like if Kiq really wanted to have these certain designs introduced, then it would have made more sense if say Ronja’s first encounter with MT went bad and was used by Areneak and by other males, including Ranach. Then the pups would have had multiple fathers, so of course the designs wouldn’t look all the same. But yes they could all be siblings for that matter but all looked unique in design of their own based on who their fathers were. It’s a real thing that happens in cats and can also happen with dogs. I know this from personal experience as I have fostered a pregnant dog before who had puppies that looked completely different from each other but the mother was the same.

Heck Kargo and his brother Ralek looked more like siblings compared to Rhov and Keirr these days. I preferred Keirr’s earlier design as at least at one point he looked like his mom.

Oh, this one I meant to watch when it was seasonally appropriate, I even dvr'd it and everything, so it's been sitting in my "to watch" folder here for months. And now I gotta watch it and figure out why it's Like That, but I kind of suspect that having the same director as Dead Snow (2009) and Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead (2014) has something to do with it, which I just noticed and am not mad about.

(I should revisit the second one, it's so weird. I haven't watched it since probably 2014, and all I really remember is the necrophilia (romantic) ending. Oh, and the Communists.)

Lighting and Stranger Things Season Four - Full Analysis (Pt.38)

Nancy’s got a gun. Let’s talk about that. Also more fire. And windows. And, actually, there’s a lot of things going on here.

S4:E9 - FIRE!!!! (#2)

Vecna bursts into flames after Robin throws the second molotov cocktail at him. And Nancy’s heading in. Now we’re moving into some blue and yellow lighting, as opposed to the red and blue lighting.

With the fire, more yellow is introduced and overpowers the red a bit. The blue doesn’t change all too much.

Then Nancy moves foreword with her gun, and she’s positioned so we see her red vest- or at least it looks red. Either way it looks like Will in season one. The gun, the vest, and the red are all Will.

As Nancy moves forward, we get some cool lighting. Red and blue and red and green. This reminds me of how Will’s been lit in season four. Soft and overwhelming.

When Nancy shoots, it’s just more fire. This is Will the Wise’s whole thing- fireball. And that’s what everyone is doing. Except Will.

The light streaming in from the holes in the roof is blue. And now Nancy is red. When Robin threw fire at Vecna, we moved away from red for a bit- but now we’re right back where we started. Red and Blue. The Snow Ball. Mike’s shirt pocket pointing to ice instead of Will. Will needs to be the one casting the spell, but Mike and Will can’t get it together (they’re also not anywhere near Hawkins so. They’ve got an excuse but. If they were in Hawkins things would have been different.)

Hopper cuts of the head of the demogrogon with the sword. Like when Hopper cut off it’s arm, it’s shot in a way that emphasizes which specific part he attacks. His right arm wasn’t the right move, so his head probably isn’t the right one either.

Maybe he should’ve stabbed it in the heart. Maybe they shouldn’t have confronted Vecna head on. Maybe they should’ve gone for his heart.

Because he seems to be doing alright. He’s not dead. Or like. Keeled over onto the floor and screaming because he’s on fire. So what they’re doing isn’t working and doesn’t seem to be having very much of an effect on him. They’re hurting him- but he’s still very much alive.

And we’ve got more yellow and blue. But the red is a bit more prominent this time around.

They send him flying through the boarded up window behind him. Windows have been a thing this season. The windows in the van scene, the windows wuth the light behind Will at Suzie’s house, the window behind El with the yellow curtains when Mike and El were fighting, the windows earlier in the scene behind Max and El- there’s a lot of windows that hold meaning. And Vecna breaking through a boarded up window? Seems along the same lines as, “your dominos are gonna fall.”

Hopper and Joyce are under a bluish green light. And are in blue and red. And are surrounded by bodies on fire as the snow falls. Snow and ice and water, all come up this season. Mike and the ice box at the gas station, Mike and Will being the ones to fill the pizza dough freezer with water, the bath literally being a pizza dough freezer. They’re putting out the fire, even though that’s what everyone is using to fight Vecna. Will being out of Hawkins during all of this seems to be a very big part of the reason they lost.

Red and green lights on the helicoper. Green as connected to Mike and Willl, adn red connected to red vs. green/covering up romantic feelings with green.

Four points of fire. One dark spot in the middle. Four gates, but somethings still missing.

The blue Creel house. The vests. The door behind them.

Vecna broke through the boarded up window. The door is open. They have the appearances and actions of Will.

Hopper went for the head instead of the heart. Mike’s monologue being logical, but not from the heart. Will telling Mike he’s the heart. (this ones a little bit of a reach. Maybe. But it intrigues me)

The red and blue. The Snow Ball. Forced conformity. The monologue. The painting.

The heart vs. what you’re supposed to think.

Fire vs. ice.

Light vs. shadow.

Will vs. El.

There’s a lot of contrast this season, huh?

Thoughts during and about DBZ: World’s Strongest because if I didn’t write them down my brain would explode

I always had it in my head that Dead Zone & World’s Strongest were some of the most “original” DBZ movies (since most of them are obvious retellings of specific arcs with slightly different villains) but like, watching them now it’s like, oh,

Dead Zone is the Piccolo Sagas (the son of Kami’s old rival comes back for revenge and is ultimately sealed away in a vessel at the bottom of the sea) with aspects of Pilaf (Garlic Jr’s design and English voice) and Raditz (villain kidnaps Gohan and Piccolo just happens to come to the rescue for his own reasons)

& World’s Strongest does have a lot of original elements, but it’s also clearly based on the Muscle Tower part of the Red Ribbon arc (building full of traps and mechanical and bioengineered villains in the middle of the snow, that one guy was just an uglier version of The Jiggler) plus some not-even-disguised Saibamen and a Pilaf arc callback to Oolong trying to steal someone’s wish…though I do wonder if this movie was an inspiration for the much-later Android/Cell Saga

Also, too lazy to take screencaps but both Sleeping Princess In Devil’s Castle & Dead Zone had sequences that STRONGLY reminded me of the Ralph Bakshi movie Wizards, and apparently both were directed by the same guy (Daisuke Nishio). I’d be curious to know if he was a Wizards fan or if both Wizards and the DB/Z movies were influenced by a different third thing

Since all the movies overtly contradict the canon timeline in different ways, making it unclear which canon events happened or not during the movie AUs, I love the vibe here that Goku and Chi-chi have just been raising Gohan quietly at home while Piccolo’s just some scary dude out in the woods that Gohan is obsessed with XD Like, Gohan daydreaming about ditching his studies to go see Piccolo, the way Chi-chi scolds him for spending time with Piccolo, and Goku clearly being a present father figure (VS canon Piccolo being Gohan’s substitute dad for 1-2 years), has big “that kid is a bad influence >:/ you shouldn’t play with him” energy. Love that Gohan’s first reaction on seeing him too is to run up for a hug :’) and to throw a tantrum when he sees Piccolo and his dad fighting each other

(Sidenote, as a kid watching DBZ there were basically just a couple throwaway lines about Piccolo being an enemy before he starts fighting with them against the main series bad guys, and I’d never read his DB story arcs, so I was always confused by these movies having side characters being scared of Piccolo or Piccolo trying to attack Goku. Like “What??? I thought you guys were friends?????”)

Also love that Oolong saw on the radar that someone was collecting the Dragon Balls and his first instinct wasn’t “oh crap, a bad guy must be doing bad things, I’d better tell my superhero friends,” it was “I’m gonna take a literal child with me to try and steal these things because he’s the only person I know who can punch good but can also be bullied into letting me have the wish” X’D Why is he so scared of “throw the baby at the mountain” Piccolo, they have so much in common, they’re both terrible babysitters. Also WHY is he again thinking about wishing for 1 single pair of ladies’ underwear, dude, there’s a magical place called a department store where you can just BUY one. I mean, thank god on every female character’s behalf that he’s too stupid to think of something more sinister, but dude, seriously XD (Listen, I love him and he’s generally OK around women after the Pilaf Saga, but he def doesn’t view women as people except sometimes when they’re women he knows, and he would def be tempted to make a gross or at least non-feminist wish if he ever thought of one)

Also it’s not like it’s a particularly original outfit—it’s just his Saiyan Saga outfit with sleeves, and THAT is just his end-of-the-Pilaf-Saga outfit with recolored pants—but amusing that the flashback to Oolong stealing the radar shows him in his Buu Saga outfit years before the Buu Saga

Also I LOVE the location designs in these movies maybe specifically cus they’re so not-Toriyama-like. Watching the original and reboot Broly movies back-to-back was so jarring, Toriyama’s Vegeta palace designs felt more “right” but the spooky vibes of the dimly lit twisty palace with big stained glass windows really got me
