headcanon atsushi’s ability the tiger does not know what to do when it likes someone

like in general atsushi is bad with knowing what to do with the ppl he likes and showing affection -- like he tries to mimic others but he himself is still working on something that feels natural if that makes sense

but the tiger

the tiger is far worse becuz the only positive thing it can associate with positive emotions is food so every time it gets closer to the full moon the tiger starts whispering in the back of his mind that he should eat dazai and kunikida

then kyouka and junichiro

and ranpo and yosano and fukuzawa and kenji and naomi and haruno

at first atsushi panics (naturally) worries he’s a cannibal, thinks the tiger hates the agency, panics more, especially after dead apple when he and the tiger gained an understanding of each other and he realized that the tiger was protecting him so he’s like why r u trying to kill the agency members

but gradually he realizes that actually the tiger just doesn’t know how to deal with positive emotions and yeah

anyway:

atsushi: dazai-san is so nice to me :)

the tiger: yeah :)

the tiger: we should eat him

atsushi: NO????

kunikida, patting atsushi’s head: good job on ur report atsushi

the tiger: use his arm against him and eat him

kunikida: atsushi u look weird are u feeling unwell

atsushi: im sorry i transformed last night, snuck out of ur place, hunted down a goose, broke back in, left it in the living room table, and then climbed on top of u, still a tiger, and then fell asleep and only transformed back now, after u had to use rashomon to get tiger me off u

teen dazai finding kid atsushi post odas death and getting super attached to him out of loneliness

he just constantly rambles on and on to this tiny child abt oda and what a great person he was bc he doesn’t wanna b one of the only two ppl alive who remember him that way

dazai, with atsushi tucked under his chin: he was a real good guy. he would’ve taken you in.. you’d have lots of siblings if they were still here…

atsushi who doesn’t like how sad dazai sounds saying that: I have you! :)

I think Dazai may have two abilities.

We already know that as a villain Dazai would be impossible to beat. There’s nothing that can kill him, and even just as an opponent, going against spells defeat. Even Ranpo says he’s tough to figure out.

During the last arc of the anime, he appears in Atsushis mind, and we see Atsushi turn around thinking Dazai was really there. After this when Atsushi was trying to figure out what he should do about the whole situations Dazai appears and points at a door. We see Dazai appear behind Ango telling him that it was okay to lie in that situation, and we even hear his hands touching Ango. After that we see Dazai and Sigma trapped in the elevator, and Dazais voice is heard in Sigmas mind.

I do think this is a possible theory, but at the same I’m not quite sure how it would work. Because of Dazais nullification ability any other ability gets canceled out. It’s possible that he just manipulates people, but that would be really hard even for him. He says there are no exception to his nullification, but maybe there is. Or maybe he can nullify his nullification to cancel it out.

We don’t get a lot about how the abilities in the series actually work, so I don’t have a lot to back this theory up, but if it is true it would make Dazai even more of a dangerous person.

i was rewatching the good place and I got stuck on Eleanor talking about her mom being a good mother to her other daughter and it made me think of sskk with dazai and now I want to cry like:

Michael : Why can't you accept that she might be living a good, honest life? That she's an attentive partner and a good mom?

Eleanor Shellstrop : Because I wanted that mom! I wanted the mom who made me afternoon snacks instead of just telling me to look for loose fries in the McDonald's ball pit. Why does Patricia get that mom? If Donna Shellstrop has truly changed, then that means she was always capable of change, but I just wasn't worth changing for.

like just imagine Akutagawa thinking about Dazai's relationship with Atsushi like that. I feel sick.

au where atsushi never joins the ada and works at idk some cafe or some shit

anyway theres a big grocery store near his tiny apartment and it always has the best deals and the best sales but not that many ppl around him go there much to atsushi's shock

but atsushi always goes there to shop - and at first he thinks maybe he shouldnt be here becuz the workers there always look surprised to see him

but then they dont say anything to him and the other costumers are rlly nice so he doesn't think too much of it

how is he, new to yokohama, supposed to know taht this grocery store is usually only frequented by the more scary and strange ppl (ada and pm)

how is he supposed to know that the cute scary looking vampire guy who gives him tea recommendations and stares at him before pointing at things that go well with tea and leaving when atsushi thanks him but always giving him recommendations when he sees him again and occasionally going out of his way to buy something atsushi's eyes lingered on but he didn't get cuz of prices is actually the rabid dog of the mafia

how is he supposed to know that the bandaged guy who only ever buys crabs and looks surprised but listens when atsushi offers to help him buy things thatll go good with them (after all atsushi knows how hard it is to try new food and how overwhelming it is to go from sneaking food from the kitchens to buying whatever he wants) is a ex mafioso current detective

and that the slightly scary but ultimately nice guy with the long blond hair and glasses who took one look at atsushi's cart and immediately wrote down a better, but still cheap, dietary plan is the bandage guys partner

and the guy with the hat and long red hair who helped atsushi carry his stuff to his apartment after atsushi complimented his hat is actually a mafia executive

and the long haired pretty woman who atsushi runs into while she's buying something for her brother is actually scary cute vampire guys sister and an assassin

and the blonde lady who asked for atsushi's help on choosing a snack for her boss is also in the mafia

and the short guy who buys too many snacks and told atsushi his taste in candy was low level and he should buy this too while also stealing the last packet of a brand atsushi wanted to try from his cart was the world's greatest detective (ok actually he knew he was a detective becuz of how he dressed but still)

and the old guy who comes to buy cat stuff and sadly confided in atsushi how he had trouble with a stray he had found and listened carefully to atsushi's advise on how to deal with stray cats, and patted atsushi's had in a way that made atsushi's long forgotten childhood wish of having parents briefly resurface was actually the boss of the ada

and so on

meanwhile everyone else who knows about the store is flabbergasted that some kid just goes in and out with zero fucks and is casually besties w/ everyone there

and then the guild come looking for atsushi heh

hc that dazai sleeps best when he’s not alone

atsushi has noticed that anytime he’s over at dazai’s dorm he seems a bit hesitant to let him go home, he’ll keep joking abt how dangerous it’d b for atsushi to leave so late despite them being a wall away, someway or the other he seems to be stalling atsushis departure. atsushi always saw dazai as a more secretive person so he doesn’t expect it out of him and thinks he’s just kidding around but the one time he does stay he notices how relaxed dazai looks, not the kind of lazy relaxation he exhibits when he’s ignoring his work at the office or listening to music but different. like it isn’t just his body that’s relaxed but his mind as well he looks much more at ease now that atsushi has agreed to stay

tbh i really wanna see shin soukoku and dazai's family hug in season six - u know atsushi and akutagawa finally accept the fact that being soulmates and working together is way cooler than trying to kill each other. dazai comes over and he’s like:

- i guess I'll drink to that later....

but then he walks up to the guys and hugs them, playfully but sincerely. akutagawa frowns, but blushing. atsushi is definitely surprised, but smiling. dazai just smirks and feeling relieved. fireworks !
