I thought about going on a dating app to find hiking buddies but my god do people around my age hate walking. Who wants to go on a hiking date with me, I'll make you rings out of twigs and take nice pics of you in the sunlight. We'll go at some nice rock areas to find nice rocks. I know some plants you can safely put in your mouth. It'll be epic.

yesterday the 23 year old and i were talking about how going on dates with strangers, especially via app, feels very artificial to both of us, and as readers of this blog may remember, i am a firm believer of needing to go on a quest with someone (e.g. a lab class) to figure out if i'm into them.

all that being said...sometimes you do just meet people. and then you go on a quest with them.

#case in point sometimes a 23 year old wanders past your office and you end up being so intrigued you go on quests (hiking) together #and then that 23 year old says things like 'i'm really glad we agree about this (the difficulties of app dating)'#and you wonder what exactly that's supposed to mean

My love and I went on a 4 mile hike today, what’s really wonderful about this hike is how steep the up hill parts are and how much it changes with the seasons. It’s gorgeous every time though.

I beat my daily calorie goal!

The last three days I’ve done a really good job, I’m hoping this coming week will show more of this activity for me.

I have my first actual date date with a woman next weekend (that isn’t just like. Friends hanging out and it being that weird space in-between/where there’s some intimacy but you’re not really a thing lol idk iykyk).

For the record, I’m still not really wanting to like, start up some new long-term thing right now, but I really wanted to meet people and put myself out there/practice dating after so long and everything, especially since aspects of this are new to me and I want to learn to do the pursuing rather than just waiting around for someone to pursue me. I feel like it will be good to build up my confidence with stuff like that.

But yeah, this girl has been really cool to talk to, so I just went for it and asked her, and now we have plans next Saturday! I feel proud of myself and excited to hang out with her.

Argyle & Jonathan go on hiking dates in the woods where Argyle is feeling Jonathan about the peculiars of the flora & fauna & insect life & how to forage. Jonathan is taking pictures of everything for future reference, and also some candid Argyle photos, except in some of them he's a second too late on the shutter and Argyle catches him & ends up losing & grinning. They walk basically the whole length of the woods, end up sitting on a log & talk about everything, smoke some weed & maybe collect some flowers to press or something.
