2. Which of your WIPs is currently the longest?
Epistaxis Anime at almost 27k
3. Which WIP do you expect will end up the longest?
Probably EA but Guesswork is already at 12k and I'm not 100% sure where it's going to end up. Also Limelight was originally planned to clock in at 20k but chapter 1 is already like 8k so....... we'll see.
4. Which WIP is your favourite to write/the most enjoyable to write? Why?
This rotates lmao which is probably why I never seem to finish anything adfsdf. I have a lot of fun with many of these but especially (in no particular order): MikeFoggy fake dating, Gentleman Caller, Limelight, Chintz, EA, and Guesswork
5. Which WIP do you find the most intimidating to write? Why?
This also rotates and is mostly because if I start writing something too well I feel pressure to keep it up. Right now on my list of "omg what will i do if i fuck this up" fics are Chintz, Limelight, and mikefoggy.
6. Which WIP do you experience the most self-doubt about. Why?
Again, this rotates!! I am struck by crippling self-doubt about like every 500 words (at least) of any WIP.
7. Which of your WIPs will you seek out a beta/sensitivity reader for? Why?
I asked the lovely @iheartallthethings to give Guesswork chapter 2 a quick read-over because I've never actually been to a bar mitzvah and she was very helpful!
8. Have any of your WIPs been struck by the curse of writer's block?

9. Which WIP has your favourite OC? Tell us about them?
If Saint Anthony counts as an OC then him lmao. I only have like 500 words of him but he's great.

12. Which WIP has the best characterisation (in your humble opinion)?
Either Guesswork or Limelight probably.
13. Which WIP has the best scene setting (in your humble opinion)?
I'm pretty partial to the opening scenes in Limelight and Gentleman Caller, but also the opening to Chintz is gonna knock all your socks off!
14. Which WIP have you worked the hardest on?
Ooh, difficult to say. I've definitely put a lot of hours into EA but probably Guesswork or Limelight. I rewrote parts of Guesswork chapter 2 like five times and it was awful lol.
15. Which WIP do you have the highest expectations for? Why?
Limelight because I love the movie it's based on and if I can capture even a quarter of that magic it's gonna be fantastic.
16. Do you dream about any of your WIPs?
Nope, my dreams don't usually go where I'd like them to.
17. Do any of your WIPs have particular complexities that your other fics don't?
Guesswork because it's sensitive subject matter (lingering trauma) seen through the lens of a character who hasn't experienced it himself and therefore doesn't understand it/keeps fucking up because of it.
18. Which WIP is the funniest or has the most humour?
mikefoggy and Gentleman Caller, although Limelight is also pretty funny in parts. oh and EA is delightful if I do say so myself.
19. Do any of your WIPs contain outside POVs or a deep dive on a character other than the main ship? How are you finding that process?
Saint Anthony is an outside POV (partially anyway, it alternates between him and Matt) and it's fun to see things through the eyes of someone who has much less stake in what's happening while Matt's tearing New York apart.
20. Tell us one thing we don't know about one or more of your WIPs.
Don't Give Yourself This Excuse's title and idea were taken from Peaky Blinders. Tommy's sister Ada tells him that after some kids were blown up in a bomb meant for him and his enterprise and she's afraid he'll act on his suicidal tendencies because of it.

I love this scene. Matt's really been through the wringer at this point (he nearly died, Karen left him, Mephisto fucked shit up) and, once again, the citizens of Hell's Kitchen come in to help pick him up when he's down.
I loved Nocenti's consistency in showing that Hell's Kitchen cared about Matt just as much as Matt cared about them. I've always found it so unnecessary when writers want to go out of their way to make it seem like Hell's Kitchen doesn't like Daredevil or what he does, especially when he's been around as long as he has.

Who’s your favorite artist (fanon or canon)?
I can't say I know anything about art! The quick answer is Bill Sienkiewicz and Rod Reis, who both do fabulous free-form art like so:
Then early X-Factor Investigations (left) had a smooth, noir style that was really well-done by Ryan Sook (pencils)/Wade von Grawbadger (his actual name apparently???? inks)/Dennis Calero (both)/Jose Villarrubia (colours). The colourist I feel like I have to credit because the whole run has washed-out, greenish colours that really add to the atmosphere. However I also have to put in that he whitewashes two of the regulars h e a v i l y. From what I've seen that's partly the fault of editorial, but it bears mentioning.
Also have to credit Marco Checcetto (pencil/ink) and Andres Mossa (colour) for drawing the sickest version of Sunspot in Avengers World (right). Their service in making my 3rd-fave look cool will not go forgotten. Checcetto's work on Elektra in the most recent Daredevil also looks great, though I only see the covers.
Some bonus mentions for art that I've read that was enjoyable are Jae Lee (pencils)/Al Milgrom (Inks) on 90s X-Factor and Terry Shoemaker/Al Milgrom on assorted X-Force/New Mutants fill-ins
What got you into comics?
Scully, you're not gonna believe this one. In 2018 I was living in the UK for a bit and came down the flu for the first time in years at the same time as Deadpool 2 was coming out with the associated marketing campaign. I was stuck in bed for 3 days straight. Looking for easy watching, I pulled up Deadpool 1. I don't remember anything of it except the Hugh Jackman joke and that it wasn't very funny.
Because I had nothing else to do, I did some googling and pulled up the Spider-Man/Daredevil joke comic that was ongoing at the time. I enjoyed some bits, I didn't enjoy some bits, I realized comics were a fully unexplored world to me. I had no idea it was so convoluted, cheesy, and self-referential. So I just searched it on tumblr because I was, again, stuck in bed except for meals and one miserable milk run. That turned up a whole bunch of those 'all LBGTQ+ superheroes in comics!' graphics because credulous nobodies think that Deadpool is 'representation' instead of 90s homophobic gay chicken gone too far.
Knowing this and being neck-deep in 90s Legally We're Not Allowed To Do Gay Stuff But We're Trying Hard DS9 at the time I got hit, I decided to follow up on the other gay characters I saw in the graphics to see how/why they were allowed to be gay on-panel in the 90s. That started me off with The Authority v1-4, then the Shatterstar reading list put together by lornahs on tumblr since I knew that character had a cameo in the new movie. The rest is history!

personality:
bloodthirsty; fuel source aside, v1 craves bloodshed and violence in a way that was (probably) programmed within it to ensure its survival. this manifests in the way it not only craves fights but craves the violence inherent to it; the more bloody, the more vicious, the better.
thrill-seeking; when it craves that violence, it does so with a sort of exuberance and fervor only really seen by the most absurd daredevils. it loves breaking windows, whipping across pools of lava for the hell (heh) of it, and slamming itself into the ground for the sake of flying across an ocean of sand. while outsiders may think it has little to no regard for its safety and well-being, it is more accurate to say that it just values fun and excitement over almost everything else.
blunt; being a programmed machine with almost no “people-skills” means that v1 is extremely impolite and blunt in the way it talks to others. it never minces words or filters itself and sees no point in doing so.
a completely unserious machine; for a highly-sophisticated and intricate machine, v1 is really, really… silly. like stated previously, it loves breaking windows for no reason, crawling into places it does not belong, and naming whatever skulls it finds. its sense of humor is morbid at best and grisly at worst. it’ll fight whatever it comes across first for blood and second to have some silly fun.
something your muse struggles with:
apathy.
a desire for VIOLENCE.
WAR - this is all it has ever known. this is what it was created for.
your muse’s greatest strength:
ingenuity - more than any of the other machines on earth and in hell, v1 is creative in the way it goes about solving any problems and killing the biggest and baddest beings hell has to offer.
STYLE ! ! ! - if you’re going to do something, you might as well look cool as hell doing it.
history / background:
you were designed to end a war that had been ravaging the planet for at least two hundred years.
you were designed to topple machines that move the earth.
multiple decades, hundreds of engineers, and billions of dollars later humans have created what they deem as the PERFECT MACHINE. you are a marvel of machinery, (GORE,) code, and intelligence, wrapped in a sleek blue frame.
your aim? impeccable.
your style? flawless.
your fuel? blood.
…well, what better fuel for a machine of violence than BLOOD? every successful shot, every excellent parry means more sustenance, vitality, and power– a war machine will always be surrounded by blood. the fuel is endless.
…and yet, against all odds, the war you were created for ends. you never even leave the prototyping stage. your full-scale production was canceled; the NEW PEACE was ushered in, which rendered you and your abilities unneeded.
that peace brought about new needs– humanity made an UPDATED version of you. APPARENTLY. she is NOT better than you.
(you could still kill her, of course. you are still the better one. of COURSE.)
funnily enough, your update doesn’t make it out of the prototyping stage either. turns out, ultra-expensive sentient war-machines cost WAY more than anyone on a post-apocalyptic earth could handle.
you have no further purpose. your engineers shut you down.
(they programmed within you enough knowledge of emotions and facial expressions for you to tell that they do not want to do this. do they care about you? probably not. you have no further purpose.)
you are shut down.

(now) mankind is dead.
(you remember that) blood is fuel.
(you realise that) hell is full.
humanity, likely before their demise (you guess, but you do not care either way), conducted countless expeditions into hell in search of further energy sources after they had ruined the planet.
you know you need fuel. no purpose for you remains except fuel, fuel, fuel. hell is full of blood, after all.
after slashing through meatgrinders and gears, you find the doors to hell. you have no hope to abandon.
you descend, for fuel. you slaughter what remains there, for fuel.
(you do cool trickshots, however, for STYLE.)
through limbo, you slaughter for fuel. through the layer of lust, you slaughter for fuel. through the layer of gluttony, you slaughter for fuel.
you slaughter, slaughter, slaughter, breezing through all sorts of hellish beasts with the exact sort of ease engineers spent billions to program into you; every scratch on your sleek blue plating repairs itself each time blood grazes you. this is easy. this is so EASY.
and then– the archangel finds you. gabriel is of heaven, not hell, but has blood all the same. that is still fuel.
for the first time, however, that fuel is NOT easy to acquire.
for the first time, something poses an actual CHALLENGE to you– you have to scrape, claw, scratch, shoot, shoot, shoot, REFUEL, REFUEL, REFUEL, in order to just BARELY manage to survive.
you win. barely.
(the blood that now courses through your plastic veins feels HOLY.)
the angel curses you with such true, unbridled RAGE that you do not kill him. you listen, instead. you do not know why you did not finish him off. he leaves.
you have no choice but to continue to descend.
and again– through greed, you slaughter for fuel–
(and beat that “update” of yours. and steal her arm again after she lands with a splat. HAH.)
–through wrath, you slaughter for fuel. through heresy, you slaughter for fuel.
until you meet him again. the archangel. music from an organ fills the halls of a heretic church. he curses you, curses you, curses you as he plays a theme of violence. the processors in your chest run faster, faster, faster as he stands, rises, and unsheathes his swords.
the fury he attacks you with takes you by so much surprise you almost die within two hits– but you are much stronger now than you were when you first fought him. you are more practiced. even so, this fight is much, much more brutal than the first one; gabriel rends into you as much as you into him. your blood seeps into the church floors. you see him falter.
but then– the fight becomes about something more than fuel, blood, rage, and vengeance. you hear gabriel laugh. your processors run faster still. you would laugh too, if your designers had given you a way to.
you win. barely.
once again, you do not kill him. you do not refuel even more from him. instead, you listen to him. AGAIN.
he says he needs time to think. you do not know what he will think about– but you watch him disappear in that flash of light. you do not know how to understand this.
once again, you have no choice but to continue to descend.
within the landscape of this level, massive, destructive machines tower over a wasteland. something CLICKS within your servos.
these machines, these EARTHMOVERS, are what you were designed to destroy.
in this respect, your engineers designed you PERFECTLY.
powers / abilities:
WHIPLASH - it can use this to grapple on to hooks, enemies, and objects.
KNUCKLEBLASTER - a massively impactful punch. punch, explode, repeat.
inherent abilities:
BLOOD ABSORPTION; unlike all other machines, v1 can heal and fuel itself through absorbing blood directly through its plating. usually, it does this by slaughtering the creatures of hell and bathing within the blood that falls upon it. fun!
SPEED; v1 is extremely fast and the wings on its back allow it to slide across surfaces with a silly amount of speed and agility.
SLAM; despite how lithe it is, v1 has enough strength to slam onto the ground whenever it jumps high enough.
