DARCY CRAWFORD MASTERPOST
Darcys system is kept relatively small just for ease of writing especially when writing them with an audience of people who don't all have DID but i do try to develop it as deeply as I can. Sooo here is my attempt at making a masterlist of all the headcanons ihave for it.
The bodies name is Darc Crawford, a name they were allowed to pick for themselves and did when they were relatively young, but are known by most people as "Project Cinnabar." Darc has fluctuating levels of dysphoria and identifies as transmasc nonbinary. They are also intersex. They are currently attempting to quit vaping but they do have a vape they carry on them, they also used to smoke cigarettes but completely switched over to vaping at one point. They have an interest in archival work and love to record things/take pictures, and are somewhat of a dork, they tend to pull out computer metaphors or make things about "statistics" when they don't need to. They tend to come off as quiet, a bit absent from the conversation, but overall friendly and helpful. Darc has been homeless for a long time, and lives inside their truck. They seem to be extremely spacey, or have some sort of memory issues, as they have a hard time providing a name when asked for it, or lack explanations for their behaviors or actions they may do. They have a tendency to talk in an extremely vague and nonspecific way, and omitting the words "I" and "Me" from their sentences.
Tumblr media
Darcy - The flesh. they/them
Darcy is a young adult and the "apparently normal" part. They are oblivious to the rest of the system other than Lyor. They are lonely, but friendly, socially awkward but willing to try to put themselves out there. They have a bleeding heart and a tendency to people please, especially when it comes to asserting themselves as helpful or useful to other people. This often gets them into danger, as they will throw their life on the line for people who dont have good intentions. They tend to be blindly gullible, and are not good at identifying lies or manipulation. They like small animals, bugs, their truck. They spend a lot of time in their head, but like to be included in things. Just someone whos happy to be here. They try very hard to be normal-passing, but don't know how. They have a special interest in advertising, specifically vintage commercials for food and medication. They also like videogames, vocaloid, anime and jazz music. Darcy doesn't exactly understand comedy, especially anything that's intended to be overly mean or insulting "as a joke." Darcy believes that Lyor and Lure are the same person, and sees Lyor as an aggressive, mean, reckless unfeeling bully. Darcy is completely unaware that they have DID and thinks they are more akin to possessed, or holding a parasite, and would reject the idea if anyone brought it up to them. They are completely repressed.
If Darcy were to get diagnosed with something in a vaccuum, I think they'd be diagnosed with autism and epilepsy.
Lyor - The brain. it/its
Lyor believes it is inhuman, an addition onto the body that was artificially added, and this mindset was encouraged by their caretakers who also believed Lyor was an entity that had latched onto Darc. Bitter and jealous it doesn't have it's own body, it tries to make best of a bad situation, and make every moment count when it is at front. It was raised as a weapon in the commune they were in together, and were trained intensely by many of the older people in the commune who were ex military. Lyor is fiercely protective of Darcy, despite being extremely critical towards them at the same time. It is against any sort of self indulgence or mindless choices, and values intelligence and selflessness. It believes it is there to keep Darcy in line with the behavior that is expected from both of them, specifically as a way to keep them safe. Lyor is extremely paranoid about the people closest to them lashing out or hurting them, or betraying them and letting them be hurt. It often parrots the people they were raised by, and believes in the views that were pushed upon them. It doesn't have any specific interests developed as it's against the idea, but I think it would enjoy coding. It is extremely knowledgable on most forms of short-range weapons and hunting tips. Lyor views Darcy as lazy, hedonistic selfish person with an intense coward streak. Lyor is only semi concious of Reels existence, and believes that it is some sort of repressed part of Darcy. It is scared of Reel. Lyor has no concept of Lure, but if it was ever confronted about Lures existance, it would assume Lure is somehow a part of it, and not a separate part. Lyor chose its name because in hebrew, it means "Light". It is intended to sound like Liar, and it is attempting to make a statement of some kind.
If Lyor were to get diagnosed with something in a vaccuum, I think it'd be diagnosed with NPD, CPTSD, and RAD.
Tumblr media
Reel - The blood. It/They
Reel is a part that specifically hides itself to pretend that it is just Darcy in a very strange mindset, it views itself as Darcys unconscious mind, their desire and needs realized in full. It is gluttonous, hedonistic and obsessive, fully obsessed with earthly and bodily experiences. They hold most of Darcys obsessive tendencies, but also all of Darcys insecurities, it feels as if they are vulnerable, wet, and mushy like an organ outside of a body and it desperately wants someone to hold onto them forever and ever and ever. It is extremely volatile when it gets interrupted or distracted from enjoying itself, and that's because Reel is a part that exists specifically to self sooth. When something gets in the way of it getting what it wants, it feels as if the person is specifically trying to make their life worse and hurt them by taking away the few things that actually make them happy. They are extremely sensitive to basically anything, rejection, aggression, other people being happier to them, etc. It is also willing to put up with basically anything as long as it means it's getting whatever it is seeking after. It loves people, loves to cling to people and cuddle, and is extremely dependent on other peoples attention. This part of Darcy is horribly burried, and repressed on purpose by both of the main fronters. This leads to massive barriers of amnesia, and a complete disconnect from the self. Reel likes horror movies, hot food and food in general, beer, and the commune they were raised on. They are still deeply, deeply deeply attached to their biological parents and miss them, despite the last time any of them had seen their parents was when they were a preteen. Reel has a habit of self harming when unable to self sooth in other ways.
If Reel got diagnosed with anything in a vaccuum, they'd probably be diagnosed with BPD, a psychotic disorder and a severe but unspecified dissociative disorder.
Lure - The metal. he/him
Lure is the least active alter of the entire system and that's because his desires have been written off as completely unattainable, and due to that he has grown dormant. Lure has many of the memories the rest of the system is missing from their life outside the commune as an adult and their relationship with their coworkers. Lure is almost repulsed by what he is and the life he lives, with an intense and all consuming desire to "be normal." Lure is deeply interested in computers, statistics, infrastructure, and the current modern world around him that he's been barred from. He comes off as extremely apathetic and uncaring, he is essentially what Darcy views Lyor as. He's the one that got them to pick up nicotine, and was the main fronter for a long time after Dalton and Dena passed.
Tumblr media
Darc is professionally trained in combat, and is rather good at "parkour" as well as using short range weapons like knives and other types of blades. They were raised by a married couple who joined a commune far from any civilization when Chamberland really started tightening their grip on the market and basically beating out any competition. Darc's human status is frequently brought up into question due to various different plot points i'm still working on, but be assured, they are just someone who is a DID system, and not... someone who is possessed. Their parents abandoned them at the commune when they were ten, leaving them in the hands of an older community member, who was ex military. He helped train Darcy before their parents had abandoned them, and to Darcy and their parents, he was a very trusted family member, and Darcy still thinks of him fondly.

Sometimes I feel like Mansfield Park is a direct response to Pride & Prejudice. Did Jane Austen get some fan mail where someone expressed that she'd "reformed a rake with the love of a good woman"? Was she tearing her hair out because that's NOT what Darcy/Elizabeth is AT ALL.
Did she pull out her pen and scream, "I'll show you a real rake and the heroine is going to flat out REFUSE to reform him! And then he's going to fuck her married cousin just in case I haven't made my point CLEARLY ENOUGH."
All for her own sister to regret that Henry Crawford didn't end up with Fanny...

Bragging to his dad about his precocious romantic success - at least Henry is broad-minded enough not to mind a bit of innuendo from his teenage son!

[Original date: 17 March 2018]
Sadly ignored moments from Austen novels:
In Northanger Abbey, Catherine Morland visits Henry Tilney at home in his parsonage. It turns out that, while he's super outgoing, at home his bffs are his terriers and NEWFIE PUPPIES. Relatably, she ends up playing with the puppies and wondering where all the time went.
In Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth is stuck handling the coffeepot at a party. She gets angry at people actually wanting coffee, because she wants to exchange longing glances with Darcy and hate everyone else he talks to. Will he come back for a second cup or not? DUN DUN DUN
In Mansfield Park, Fanny doesn't understand why she keeps thinking about how pretty and charismatic and talented her very morally objectionable rival is, or why she keeps visiting her even though she(Fanny) doesn't like her. She confusedly calls it 'a kind of fascination.'
The eighteenth century's version of Discourse Hell was incessant arguments about the value of modern literature compared to the classics. But by Persuasion, the characters are perfectly aware of living in the Romantic era of poetry and think it's GREAT. (In an addictive sort of way.)
The last villain Austen wrote, in Sanditon, is a proto-dudebro who regards himself as a rakish intellectual, but in reality just plots ineffectually while making inaccurate literary references.

Mary Crawford and Fitzwilliam Darcy
You know, I read a great ficlet about them once and it made me really like the concept. However, I think I like it more from Mary's POV than Darcy's. I think Darcy is Mary's ideal man - he's both rich and principled. I definitely hope she ends up with someone similar to Darcy, if that's even possible. However, while I think Darcy would probably be quite attracted to Mary (she does share a lot of personality traits with Elizabeth) I think one of the things Darcy does really appreciate about Elizabeth is her disinterestedness. He hates her mother for her blatant desire to see her daughters married to rich men. He warns Bingley off Jane because he fears she's a fortune hunter. He gets on decently with Caroline but he sees through her and isn't likely to ever fall in love with her. So I think he would find Mary's worldliness very off-putting. I'm not saying that it couldn't work and if Darcy had to choose a woman from among his own circle in London, she'd be a good one to pick - I think she's be very kind and supportive to Georgiana, for instance. But I think he would have serious reservations about her. (I mean, he did about Elizabeth too but those were about her social status and not about her as a person.)

I honestly think the scenes of greatest intimacy in Austen are those moments of unspoken solidarity between people when they have to deal with a difficult person: Emma and Mr. Knightley handling the crisis of snow at Christmas, Darcy and Elizabeth curtailing Caroline Bingley's bitchiness to protect Georgiana in the music room, Wentworth seeing the child clinging to Anne's neck and wordlessly removing him, Edmund and Fanny dancing silently together at the end of a long ball, just enjoying being introverts together away from the Crawfords, Col. Brandon fetching Mrs. Dashwood because she would be of comfort to Marianne and Elinor...

Estimated Sexual Abilities of Austen Men
In no particular order within tier
Edits added in blue based on your reblogs and careful consideration
Top Tier:
Mr. Mainwaring: to have the near undying loyalty of the exceedingly selfish Lady Susan, this man must be a sex god
Henry Crawford: he knows he’s not handsome, he wants women to love him, he'd put in the work. Also one of the only men to be rated by a woman who has had sex before.
Henry Tilney: he cares about things women like, high emotional intelligence, and extremely kind.
Frederick Wentworth: passion and experience (I imagine), also has high emotional intelligence when he’s not being a dufus.
Colonel Brandon: passionate, thinks about other people’s feelings a lot, self-sacrificial
John Knightley: I think there’s a good reason that they keep banging out those kids
Admiral Croft: I cannot believe I left him off, obviously amazing in bed because he respects his wife as his equal and is very fun. You are telling me they spend all their time together and don't have amazing sex? No freaking way!
Good Tier:
William Price: athletic, cares about his sister a lot (good sign), and gives good presents. He’s only nineteen in the story which is why he has room to improve.
Captain Harville: Obviously
Mr. Morland: dude isn’t even on page, but in my head Mrs. Morland enjoyed making all ten of those children.
Colonel Fitzwilliam: I think he’d be good, but not awesome. He'll probably be wasted on a mercenary marriage.
Charles Bingley: I get the feeling he’d be on a race to the end, and maybe not the best communicator at first. Will improve.
Mr. Gardiner: Just because he’s awesome and seems to respect women
Captain Benwick: poetry and passion!
Robert Martin: seems like a pretty romantic guy, also works on a farm so probably athletic.
John Willoughby: Mostly because of experience, but he is also pretty passionate. He’s also super hot, Miss Grey knew what she was getting into. But this guy can only go downhill from here.
Reginald De Courcy: He’s a sweetheart, an occasionally dumb sweetheart
Mr. Bennet: Is he lazy in most domains of life? Yes. But Mrs. Bennet wasn’t just trying for that heir, I’m telling you folks. Maybe he's just trying to make her unable to talk 😉
George Knightley: Promoted to good tier, I do think he's very caring, but he also is always sure HE is right, which may be a problem.
John Yates: Maybe not the most selfless person, but he's got passion and he does love his wife. Probably very into roleplay.
Mediocre but can improve tier:
Fitzwilliam Darcy: he’s a bit stiff... I think it might take some time for him to get good at it (demoted to this tier because he will need time to improve)
Frank Churchill: He’s got passion, but he’s so darn selfish and doesn’t seem to send that much time thinking about Jane’s feelings
Edward Ferrars: I just see him being a nervous wreak the first few times, it’ll get better (Note: I think Lucy is way too smart to have had sex without a wedding date)
James Morland: Dude, I’m just disappointed with you in general. Being led by lust, not protecting your sister. I hope you grow a lot before you try to get engaged again.
Charles Musgrove: could be good, but Mary never seems to appreciate the effort he puts in so he kind of gave up
Tom Bertram: Selfish, never has to try for anything, but he did reform so maybe he can get better here too.
Edmund Bertram: Repressed and selfish. He needs to actually start listening to what women say if he’s going to improve and there is a whole book of him doing exactly the opposite...
Mr. Elton: selfish, full of himself, and low emotional intelligence, however, I think he does love his wife so he is willing to put in some effort for her.
Just bad:
James Rushworth: Maria was not impressed at all, despite how much “taller” he was
Captain Tilney: riding on good looks and money, selfish
John Thorpe: Selfish and he never shuts up. I have trouble imaging him getting a woman to sleep with him without paying her.
George Wickham: selfish and good looking, he’s not doing any work. He thinks you should be honoured to sleep with him.
Robert Ferrars: selfish and not even good looking. There is nothing here. Lucy did not win people.
Mr. Woodhouse: I can’t even imagine, if he didn’t have children I’d say he was a virgin
Mr. Collins: The woman he is trying to please is not his wife.
Mr. Elliot: cruel to his first wife and not even handsome!
Sir Walter Elliot: I don’t think any part of his personality would tend toward being a “giver”, however, if you like mirrors...
John Dashwood: exactly the opposite of a “giver”
Mr. Price: the guy had 11 children in 14 years so I wish I could say he was better in bed. My suspicion is that he started in the good tier and has had a very slow fall into just bad. And all that alcohol, ug...
Dr. Grant: Noted for being a whiney, selfish glutton. Hopefully he just falls asleep before he can attempt anything because I can't imagine him being that good in bed.
General Tilney: If you don't want to even try to imagine their sex life, they go in this tier. And he is so freaking controlling!
No Data: We interviewed Lady Bertram for information on Sir Thomas, but she confessed that with full consent, she has always fallen asleep during sex. Given her personality, we decided that this information has no bearing on Sir Thomas’s abilities. She did say that giving birth was, “Very disagreeable.”
Mr. Hurst: I really can't decide with him because while he does love the finer things in life, we don't know exactly why he and Louisa married. More info required.
Criteria: In the domain of F/M sex, communication is key, so we need a man who is willing to listen to what women say. Also, selfishness is obviously a negative trait when it comes to a happy sexual partner of either gender. Some of this is just vibes, but I think there is a fair amount of canon information about how much men respect women, especially their sisters.
Feel very free to fight me in the reblogs. The only hill I will die on is that Henry Crawford’s rating is correct 😉

Things liven up in the evening though, when he gets invited for a night on the town with his good friend Benjamin, and a few other mates.

Bumping into arch-enemy Anna is not exactly a welcome surprise.

The dance sphere at The Dive Bar (inspired by @eulaliasims’s fabulous basement bar) creates quite a stir with the clientele.

Hmm, I wouldn’t have thought that the studious Georgiana would be Walter’s cup of tea, but you never can tell!

The nightlife of Sanditon.

There’s even a bar-room brawl (between Charles and John), to round off the evening!

A great time is had by all.

So great that Benjamin passes out from sheer exhaustion in the middle of the road on the way home.

They just left him there all night...

The next morning Cassandra is overjoyed to find out that Walter is her new neighbour, even if she did miss a legendary night out.

And since neither of them has landed a job yet, there’s plenty of time to hang out together and have fun.
