Hana Yori Dango-Boys Over Flowers & Meteor Garden
The Final 2 Men That Make Up F4
My intro into Asian Dramas and such was these series and I don't pretend they were all perfect. Quite the opposite each adaptation had it's issues but when you look pass issues and still adore something or someone even. That's real admiration and love. So let's meet the 2 guys that help make up F4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 1: The 2 men that help make up F4 in the 1995 movie were just wallpaper. Unfortunately they were just there with no real storyline. And it was sad but I won't leave them out.
SAEKI KENSAKU played Nishikado Sojiro...surprisingly this gentleman had one acting credit and it was Hana Yori Dango in 1995. Then He retired from acting and no other information is available.
HASHIZUME KOICHI played Mimasaka Akira...this actor had many series to his credit but sadly he died 4 years after Hana Yori Dango in 1999 in a bike accident.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 2: 2001 Meteor Garden Adaptation seemed almost in the 70's or 80's F4 were all long haired cutie pies.
VANNESS WU (in the yellow) played Mei Zuo..
KEN CHU played Xi Men
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 3: In 2005 Japan's Hana Yori Dango Series. The other 2 Members of F4 was back to the same names as the 1995 Movie of the same name.
ABE TSUYOSHI played Mimasaka Akira
MATSUDA SHOTA played Nishikado Sojiro
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 4: South Korea's Boys Over Flowers was unlike the others because no others used these names while both Japanese Versions used the same names as did Taiwan and China.
KIM BUM played the ladies man So Yi Jung
KIM JOON played Song Woo Bin
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Number 5: China's Version called Meteor Garden just like Taiwan's Version returned Xi MEN & Mei Zuo. China's Version was excellent like the rest but it was a whopping 49 Episodes. All F4 Members had story arcs. Well they did in other versions as well.
Xi Men was played by CEASAR WU
Mei Zuo was played by CONNOR LEONG or LEON LEONG
So these handsome gentlemen rounded out the F4 in the Japanese, Taiwanese and Chinese versions of this iconic story. Do you have a favorite of them. Or were they just friends of Domyouji Tsukuba & Hanazawa Rui/ Daoming Si & Hauze Lei
Actually I do like all of them but I do prefer Number 4 & Number 5. Because I am a huge fan of KIM BUM & KIM JOON and CEASAR WU & LEON LEONG were also excellent for me. But again I love all these guys.
@pose4photoml do you have a favorite?

PLUS...BLOCKBUSTERS_HANA YORI DANGO
A shout out to one of my favorite stories from Yoko Kamio (MANGA/ANIME)
Several countries have brought there own version of this story. I'm sure fans have their favorites. But I have an appreciation for all these actors and their version of DOMYOUJI TSUKUBA. So here they are..
Tumblr media
Number 1: Made into a movie in Japan in 1995, this version isn't as popular. It did not follow the full story of the trials and tribulations gone through by Domyoji & Makino. But it had its own charm. Domyoji Tsukuba was played by SHOSUKE TANIHARA
Tumblr media
Number 2: The first series in live action went to Taiwan. In 2001 it went from Hana Yori Dango to Meteor Garden. It was followed by a sequel Meteor Garden 2 after Meteor Rain. Domyouji Tsukuba name was changed to Daoming Si and Taiwanese dynamo JERRY YAN step into this iconic role.
Tumblr media
Number 3: Japan decided to step back into the game with a series version that blew the 1995 movie out of the water. Back to the original name HANA YORI DANGO (aka BOYS OVER FLOWERS) it was 2005. A sequel in 2007 called HANA YORI DANGO RETURNS and a final movie in 2008. Domyouji Tsukuba was played by multi-talented JUN MATSUMOTO.
Tumblr media
Number 4: Then it was SOUTH KOREA next. BOYS OVER FLOWERS came out in 2009. Domyouji Tsukuba became GU JUN-PYO. And was played by popular South Korean actor LEE MIN-HO.
Tumblr media
Number 5: Another Remake with a much milder story but still damn good IMO. Once again the name changed to Meteor Garden as China did a remake of the Taiwanese version. And of course Domyouji Tsukuba became Daoming Si again. And newbie actor DYLAN WANG took on the role. And he was A M A Z I N G!!
In conclusion this is an iconic story and will probably will continue to be remade with a new name for Domyouji and his lady love Makino and the rest of the F4. But no matter what I will always have an appreciation for the characters. I may not like every version but I won't slam it. I just won't watch it.
For fans who choose to diminish these men and their outstanding performance by saying BEST ADAPTATION YET for their favorite is ridiculous. One is not better than the other. They are all BEST ADAPTATIONS. Each actor brought their best. And should be applauded. Each version should appreciated.
So to all the men here that played DOMYOUJI or DAOMING SI or GU JUN-PYO. YOU DID MARVELOUSLY ALL OF YOU.
@pose4photoml I posted this a long time ago. Just tagging you to check it out.

METEOR GARDEN (2018 CHINESE ADAPTATION)
As I stated many consideration this version the mild one, however to my recollection this is the only adaptation that shows Daoming Si (DYLAN WANG) physically assault Dong Shancai (SHEN YUE) like in the anime.
In the anime (available on Crunchyroll) Domyouji hauls off and slaps Makino in the face when she says something that angers him.
Here Daoming Si hits Shancai in the face with the food she was delivering to him. Obviously you can see his immediate regret though he does not apologize.
Of course this followed by the iconic Dong Shancai kicking Daoming Si in his face outside of their university.

My Review of Joy of Life
Tumblr media
Let me introduce you to what might just be my favourite drama of all time!
Our protagonist Fan Xian is born in ancient times but possesses the memories of a modern adult. He grows up in a provincial town and learns martial arts. One day, life events take him to the imperial capital where he is surrounded by danger and intrigue. He finds friends, enemies, frenemies, and love.
This drama is so funny. Fan Xian is a brilliant protagonist with a fresh and rebellious perspective on the ancient world.
This is the best writing I have ever seen in any cdrama. Every character is vibrant and complex, with their own desires and motivations. Relationships between characters evolve in fascinating ways. Every line of dialogue is vital to the story. There are truly no wasted moments or unnecessary side plots. You won’t have to skip a single scene.
The casting is perfection. Fan Xian had to be Zhang Ruoyun. Fan Xian gets away with a lot, and Zhang Ruoyun makes you believe that he can. He’s likeable enough to strike the balance between humour and gravity, and to tread the line between charisma and hubris.
The whole cast is iconic and everyone brings their characters to life, including Chen Daoming as the erratic Emperor, Li Xiaoran as the chilling Grand Princess, Li Qin as the sweet but free-thinking female lead, Guo Qilin’s as Fan Xian’s hilarious and money-loving brother, Song Yi as Fan Xian’s quick-witted sister, Xin Zhilei as his eccentric ally, Wu Gang as his enigmatic mentor…and I’ll stop here before I name the entire cast…
No, but, the acting is so good. I mean it.
Fan Xian does not belong to the ancient world. He looks at the injustices around him and he does not accept them. He believes in the equal importance of everyone, regardless of status. This means that, in spite of all the fun and mischief, he is lonely and misunderstood. It also means that, beneath the humour, this drama has something to say about the world. (I mean our current world, not just Fan Xian’s world.)
Twists throughout the story will catch you by surprise. The characters are not what they seem. But it’s also a great drama to rewatch because you can see the seeds being planted.
The soundtrack is simple but effective. Parts of it have a really interesting sci-fi vibe.
Only 1 out of 3 seasons is complete. Am I worried that 2 and 3 will disappoint? Honestly, no. The remaining seasons are by the same screenwriter, Wang Juan. It’s based on a completed series of books so we know what direction it will go. Most of the original cast will return. And regardless, the 1st season is an amazing standalone drama.
I really consider this a must-watch. Just don’t try to keep it on in the background while you do other stuff, because all the details matter. Joy of Life demands and deserves your full attention.

Meteor Garden 2018 Episode 22 Review
Yes, I am skipping reviewing episode 20 and 21 because I refuse to go through that pain all over again by writing about it. It was terrible to watch and that’s all I’m going to say about it. Episode 22, it’s an entire different matter. This hour was full of amazing moments between our characters and some others that were epic.
Let’s start with Lei lending his shoulder, understanding and quiet companionship to Shancai through her heartbreak over everything what she was going through. He’s too precious for this world and deserves happiness of his own, I hope by the end of the show he gets everything he wishes for.
How many more scammers is Shancai’s family going to meet before they can live without worries?? I can’t believe they were rob of their money once again, so of course now they are force to leave Shancai alone in Shanghai. Just when she needs the confort of home more than ever.
I know the show is making a point by demonstrating how strong and resilient Shancai is but, can it give her a break? She deserves to be happy, and allow herself to rest and feel vulnerable once in a while.
Bravo for Si ! Standing up against his Mother and cancelling the marriage arrangement, making clear Shancai is the only one for him. It was damn time they had this fight, since she’s doing nothing but hurt her son, herself and the family business’s future by trying to keep them apart.
I’m glad the Xiaozi’s storyline was finished fast, and I’m even more happy she personally went to talk to Shancai and apologized for getting between her and Si when she knew they had feelings for each other. Especially because she seems to honestly like them both, maybe now she will become a good friend, for real this time. I dare say might even become an ally to them against Daoming Feng. This is the last we will see of her as Si’s fiancé but I have a feeling it’s not the last we will see of her overall.
I dare you guys to name a more iconic moment than the one that came next: Shancai vs. Daoming Feng. Mommie Dearest came into the house not missing a minute and calling Shancai a gold digger and giving weak reasoning as to why she’s against her.
Woman, yes. Shancai doesn’t have the same upbringing as your son, nor the proper knowledge of etiquette and protocol. So what? She’s honest and it’s willing to work hard. Has it occur to you she can learn all those things?
Shancai standing up against Daoming Fen and telling her everything she was thinking to her face was amazing. The equivalent of when she fly kicked Si to get some sense into this head, remember? It seems like Shancai has to go against the Daoming family members one by one to prove herself. Except for Big Sis, she recognized Shancai’s true worth the second they met.
That’s right! Shancai has more class in her pinky finger than Daoming Feng in her entire being. Mommie Dearest was spewing nonsense through the entire interaction. She deserved to be kicked out.
YES, F3. APPLAUSE! APPLAUSE FOR OUR GIRL ALL AROUND!!
I love the guys didn’t waste any time blabbing everything that happened to Si. They also tried to make him understand he needs to be prepare to go against his mother and how difficult things could get for Shancai from now on.
Of course, Si is a stubborn fool in love, who right now can only see what’s in front of him. Yes, he wishes to protect Shancai but it seems like he still fails to understand the position she’s been put on. He needs to start thinking long term strategies if he truly wants to be with his girl. This isn’t a battle, it’s war and they need to go through it together. An united front.
