Backstory: Nadezhda Kovalchuk grew up longing for a life of extravagant spending. Nadezhda was her father's 'little princess', which means she was put first when it came to spending (any) extra money her (already poor) family got, Nadezhda wanted to learn ballet, she would get lessons, Nadezhda wanted to learn archery, she got lessons, and so on. Nadezhda eventually wanted to learn how to wrestle, and she didn't need to go far to find lessons, her father (Zlatan) used to fight bears when he was a teenager, for people's entertainment. Meeting both Vesta and Bonita, in the same part of the British wrestling circuit, the three became friends fast, during that time she also met Damocles. Nadezhda was often broke due to paying for lavish items, champagne, limos, designer clothing, and so on. Nadezhda was the perfect candidate for 'Greed', being so money-hungry (with good reason), but never truly knowing how to limit her spending. She has been with the 'Lucifarian Family' since the start of her career.

Julian went to hogwarts baring the Flamel name and made lots of friends. He was never good in school, having trouble focusing and not being too interested but he was brilliant on his own terms and shined in tranfiguration and sometimes in potions. He had everything in him to become a great wizard one day if he would only try and focus.

After school Julian decided to become an alchemist, because of his name and talents. His mother shortly passed away and left him a small amount of money she had managed to gain in England. Julian quickly used most of for his own pleasure.

He begun to live his little impostor life, gaining money and fame with his name and brilliancy but using it just as quick for games and drinking. Sometimes he lived very rich and sometimes the opposite. The society talked a lot about him but was unfamiliar with his troubles. Most of the inventions he made for his alchemy experiments were not working like he claimed them to, but with his charm he managed to get out of trouble fairly easy as some were working and out shined the failed ones.

It was how ever too late and embarrassing for him to claim anything else so he decided to keep the name and use it for his advantage.

alabama , born karawek at birth , was born to a thai politician and his mistress . naturally , the last thing he wanted was for it to get out that he’d been unfaithful to his wife and so when his mistress turned up pregnant he sent her off on her way with a bundle of cash ( expecting she’d end the pregnancy ) and the issue would be settled . she did no such thing though , wanting to capitalize on having the child of a prominent figure . her plans quickly fell by the wayside though when she realized she simply was not cut out for motherhood , no amount of money could make her even slightly decent at it . despite that she wanted the best for her daughter , even if she couldn’t give her that . at just under six months , she put her daughter up for closed adoption . the levington’s , a prominent hollywood couple who were sure they’d never be able to have children of their own at the time , wanted to start a family . the second they came across the little girl , they fell absolutely in love and the adoption process started from there . changing her name to the name at the top of mrs. levington’s dream board , they made a point to include a part of her given name at birth as her middle name though , a thanks to her biological parents for giving them their baby girl in a way .

the eldest of what would become known as the levington clan , life for alabama was picture perfect . a close ( enough ) bond with all of her siblings and two loving parents . not to mention the money and fame that came with her last name , there wasn’t much for the young girl to really ask for but that didn’t stop her from doing so . known to never really be satisfied , she’s always thought there was something bigger and better around the corner and can’t seem to stomach the idea of anyone getting such a thing over her . call it entitlement , if you’d like .

growing up in los angeles didn’t do her any favors , submerged in a world were who you are and what you look like was all that really mattered . her mother was the first to jump on any chance to make her precious little girl the absolute best . taught at a young age to always step out of the house like you were walking the catwalk . you’d catch alabama dead before you ever caught her out and about in sweatpants ( to be honest , i don’t even think she owns a pair of sweatpants ) . the world really got a glimpse into how image obsessed the young girl was when she got a nose job for her sixteenth birthday . truthfully it was like some sort of right of passage among her highschool friends back then . a group of private school girls who were more cliquey than anyone could really stomach .

for as long as anyone could remember she was the most pristine of her siblings , the one who always put her best foot forward . that all changed at seventeen though after a more public break up took place , she was left distraught . the only way she knew to numb her feelings was to fall into the party scene . she drank more than her body could handle , sobered up with lines , and didn’t get home until the sun was coming up . it was a rather dark point in her life . the only silver lining being she could stop when she wanted to ( no , seriously ) , she just didn’t want to at that time . her parents only taking it seriously when she was arrested at school for possession of drugs ( truth is , the drugs weren’t even hers she was just taking the fall for a friend but that’s something that’s never gone public ) . once they bailed her out , they almost immediately shipped her off to some rehab facility in malibu . the doctors there quickly realizing they weren’t dealing with an addict by any means just a teenage girl who was upset and lashing out . it’s unfortunately a trait no one has been able to help her unlearn , to this day she’s known to be rather difficult , especially when she feels she has been done wrong . she will lash out - violently , verbally , you never really know if venomous words or a shockingly chin rocking hit are going to come from her .

after her stint in rehab , she switched highschools ( due to being expelled ) and being her quickly found herself a new group of friends at the top of the food chain , she’s a natural social climber and doesn’t really need to put too much effort into doing so . soon enough she graduated and let’s be real her grades were good enough to get her a diploma but that’s about it . college had never been in her plans and thankfully she already had a career lined up for herself in race car driving which she’d picked up around the age of thirteen when she started kart racing . it started off as her chasing an adrenaline rush but quickly turned into so much more , after her first major competition as a teenager people around her began making claims she could break records for women in the world of racing . she has gone on to proving them all right with her career breaking barriers and winning races no woman before her ever has . alabama is the first to say the way she carries herself on the tracks is much like the way she carries herself throughout life . a women in a male dominated environment who refuses to take on the spot as anything less than just as dominating as her male counterparts , unafraid of whether that makes her too much in anyone’s eyes or not .

sometime in 2017 , she was reached out to by a man who claimed to be her biological father . a shock to her system , not because she didn’t know she was adopted ( that much was clear to her ; and her parents had been rather upfront about it ) but because she knew it was a closed adoption . convinced her whole life they wanted nothing to do with her and by that point in her life she’d come to terms with that . he had disclosed that he only had so much longer on the earth ( he was very sick ) and wanted to meet the daughter that he never got to know . initially she ignored him entirely . it was her turn to shun him from her life -- she couldn’t miss someone she never knew and she refused to be disloyal to her parents , the two people in the world who chose her and loved her . after a few months though her dad explained to her that he thought it’d be best for her to meet her biological father . she sat on the idea for a couple weeks before deciding to reach out . a few days later she was on a flight to thailand . what was only supposed to be a weekend trip turned out to be a month and a half long . she connected with him and a piece of her wanted to be there for him in his last days . soon after his funeral she returned back to the states . going back to life as she knew it pretty much without a bat of her eyes . given a sort of closure she never realized she needed in her time in thailand ( even though her biological mother has never reached out , although before he passed he did give alabama the woman’s name ) .

the tabloids often have alot to say about her and her antics but one that can never be said about this nepotism baby is that she doesn’t hold loyalty and honesty in the highest regard . a true rarity in the world she lives in but alabama will fall on a sword for those closest to her ( i.e her arrest back in highschool ) , she may have a cool hard shell covering her at all times but she cares immensely about her family and those she deems her friends . she’s the girl who is still close with most of her childhood friends just simply because you never turn your back on someone ( unless they give you reason to ) .

known for having a terrible track record when it comes to the men in her life , leaving her to be deemed a scorn women by many tabloids at just the age of twenty - six . her bad luck started at seventeen and has recently been topped off with her rather distasteful split with ford , in which the whole world watched him cheat on her . to say she is the leading champion of the men suck club would be an understatement . she doesn’t trust men to save a life and frankly she feels she’s entitled to those feelings .

Blog Post 1 (Week 1)

My name is Danica, and I use she/her pronouns. I am a junior in the nursing major with the aspiration of becoming a labor/delivery nurse after graduating from college. I am from Oahu, Hawai'i, but moved to Seattle to attend college. My favorite sport is soccer because I was taught the importance of communication and working with others. I also like this sport because I played it for 14 years of my life!

I am quite confident in my reading skills since I am able to understand the content and gain knowledge from the text. However, I believe that my writing should be improved.

I am comfortable using technology, and I do not have any issues accessing good wifi or a computer. Additionally, I prefer either Google Docs or Word.

Overall, I am a dependable and responsible student, and I am excited for what this course has to offer!

Some Really Good Transgender News from the American Election

The American election has, unfortunately, shown us all that the country is deeply divided and that prejudices and shortsighted self-interest have a deep hold on many Americans. I am afraid that this will not be of help to transgender and nonbinary people.

But there is another side to this story and that is that a lot of Americans are now ready to embrace trans people and elect them as their representatives.

Here is some good news for you:

Sarah McBride becomes state senator

Sarah McBride of Delaware becomes first transgender state senator in U.S. history. She is the national press secretary at the Human Rights Campaign (Photo above from AP).

The New York Times reports that Ms. McBride, 30, a Democrat, handily defeated Steve Washington, a Republican, in the Delaware First State Senate Districtt.

In a brief interview with the New York Times on Tuesday night, Ms. McBride said she was “incredibly grateful” to the residents of her district and would keep her focus on serving them.

But she also said she hoped that Tuesday’s results would send a “message to a young person struggling with where they fit and how they fit into this world: that our democracy is big enough for them too and their voices matter.”

Taylor Small wins in Vermont

LGBTQ Nation reports that Taylor Small has officially made history as the first out trans person elected to the Vermont State Legislature.

“Being the first means being that representation,” she said, “and being that guiding light. In a lot of ways I don’t see it as a historical moment for myself, but more of a historical moment for the community.”

Small is currently the Director of the Health & Wellness program at the Pride Center of Vermont.

Mauree Turner, first nonbinary state lawmaker

Mauree Turner has become the first non-binary state lawmaker in US history, after winning election to the Oklahoma state House, Pink News reports.

Turner, who uses they/she pronouns, said of their win: “Y’all I can honestly say I never expected this when we started out.

“Before this election, I only cried when I talked about my family and how much they mean to me. Now I cry when I talk about the Little family, the Jovanna’s, the Community food-based systems, the Activist, the Organizers. I can’t help but cry when I talk about House District 88 all that it holds and all that we are getting ready to do. And it’s really easy to talk about all that we’re getting ready to do because we’ve been doing it.”

Stephanie Byers becomes Kansas's first trans elected official

Advocate reports that a recently retired teacher from Wichita, Stephanie Byers made history twice on election night becoming Kansas’s first transgender elected official after winning her bid for the Kansas House of Representatives 86th District.

She is also the first Native American trans person elected to any state legislature. Byers is a member of the Chickasaw Nation and has lived in Wichita for 30 years.

Regarding her historic run, Byers told TV station KAKE:

“For me, being transgender is just another aspect of who I am. I'm also a member of the Chickasaw Nation. I ride a motorcycle. I'm a musician. I have bachelor's and master's degrees in education. These are all just things that make a part of who I am. It's not what totally defines me.”

The Wichita Eagle writes that Byers applauded the fact that her gender identity was left out of the race completely:

“I’m incredibly grateful being a transgender woman running for office with the fact that my opponent made a point of saying she was not going to make that an issue, and she ran an incredibly clean campaign,” Byers said.

But there is more!

These are not the only openly transgender U.S. state legislators: We should also mention Virginia state delegate Danica Roem; Colorado state representative Brianna Titone; and New Hampshire state representatives Lisa Bunker and Gerri Cannon.

As Pink News points out, Brianna Titone won re-election in Colorado with an increased majority, despite Republicans launching transphobic ads in a bid to unseat her.

“Tonight’s wins for LGBTQ people of color and transgender Americans across the country are historic and long overdue,” GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said. “Their victories represent a leap forward for LGBTQ acceptance and a demand for more of the progress and equality that their very presence demonstrates. We can’t wait to see them shine in their new roles.”

By the way: Keep in mind that the US has probably had a lot of transgender and nonbinary representatives throughout history. Let us keep in mind those who never came out as themselves, but who nevertheless decided to serve their communities.

Diverse DC p.1~Speedsters

1. XS/Jenni Ognats(Black/white biracial)

Jenni is the daughter of Barry Allens daughter Dawn Allen and Jeven Ognats. She wasn’t born with any abilities , however after seeing her father in danger, her connection to the speedforce was Unlocked.

2. The Flash/Danica Williams(black)

Danica Williams is the flash of the Batman Beyond universe. Whos father was a STAR labs scientist who studied Metahuman technology. Danica grew up with dreams of becoming a trackstar, but due to having many medical conditions including asthma, she lost hope. It was also thought that Danica had mental illness due to her claiming to see and hear figures that nobody else could. Though it turns out that she was actually communicating with speedsters from multiple different realities through an initially unknown connection to the speedforce. After she was urged to save a man from being hit by a train, it was revealed that she had superspeed, and eventually mastered the ability to run on air molecules. She was also the love interest for Billy Batson/Captain Marvel

3. Kid Flash lll/Wallace West(black/white biracial)

Wallace West ll is the niece of Iris west and the son of Daniel West, the second reverse Flash. He was initially portrayed as a delinquent and a troublemaker, however after being adopted by his aunt Iris, he began to ease out of his delinquent behavior as he began to look up to the Flash(not knowing it was Barry Allen). After a future version of himself went to the past and gave Wallace powers, he gained a hard to control and unpredictable connection to the speed force. He used his new powers to become the Flash’s new crimefighting partner. After being caught in Central City’s speedforce storm, his powers became more stable.

3. The Flash/Avery Ho(Chinese American)

Avery, like many other Central City citizens was caught in the Speed Force storm, giving her a connection to the speedforce. Her new abilities were unstable, and Avery’s cells involuntary constantly vibrated themselves, with her being unable to stop them. She was visited by Barry and another speedster named Meena Dhawan(whos up next) who helped teach her how to use and control her powers. After a while, Avery was recruited into the Justice league of China. Shes also Wallce’s best friend.

4. Fasttrack/Meena Dhawan(southern asian descent)

Dr. Meena Dhawan was a scientist at STAR labs who was caught in the speed force storm, giving her all the usual speedster powers+the ability to sense or Track others with a speed force connection (hence the name Fasttrack). She dedicated herself to training the next generation of speedsters who were also caught in the speed force storm. She was a villain at one point, but thats not important.

5. Irey and Jai West(biracial, white and Korean)

Jai and Iris “Irey” West ll are the twin children of Wally West the first, and Linda Park. They both have their fathers connection to the speed force, however, while Irey has the usual superspeed, Jai’s powers are…. Weird. He can use speedforce energy to accelerate his muscle growth and give himself super strength, but has also been shown to use the speed force to shapeshift when in distress.

6.Bolt/Alinta(no last name yet),(biracial,black/white, Australian)

Bolt is a new speedster who was first introduced during the future state event. Nothing is currently known about her origin, but she has been shown to be a member of the Teen Titans and the Suicide Squad. Also,shes a disabled speedster. However, not the first(fun fact: Bart Allen/Impulse has a prosthetic kneecap). Also, im 90% sure shes black. I saw one tumblr user say she was of Australian aboriginal origin, and if I can find any confirmation I’ll change this immediately.

Edit: I saw her origin story in the comics, her parents are shown to be a black woman and a white man. So, shes biracial.

Edit: We now know more about Bolt! She was a little kid when she found her speed, and the reason she can only run in short&quick sprints or bolts, as opposed to long distance runs like others speedsters, is because she found an incomplete speedforce equation. Her parents used her for their family business(which unbeknownst to her, was traficking illegal goods), until she lost her legs an was given new ones by Amanda Waller, who is now desperate to get her on the suicide squad because she wants a speedster now lol.

7. Kid Quick/Flash/Jess Chambers (black)

Not to be confused with Jesse Chambers, Jess is another new speedster, who was also introduced during Future State. They are Nonbinary and use They/them pronouns, and come from the genderbent Earth-11, where they are the nibling (gender neutral word for nephew/niece for those who dont know)of Earth-11’s Flash(who happens to be Jesse Chambers). They are also seemingly romantically involved with Aquamans daughter Andy.

8. Godspeed/August Corazón Heart(Latino)

August Heart was Barry Allen’s partner, whos brother was murdered around the time period shortly before Barry Allen was struck by lightning and became the Flash. Hes brothers murder case was dropped, and he was distraught. After gaining superspeed by the Speedforce storm, he designed his own suit and became a ruthless vigilante, going on criminal. Barry eventually learned that August was Godspeed, a hint was that one of August’s victims was his brothers killer. Eventually, August was killed by Eobard Thwane aka Reverse Flash.

WHG 17 - The Initial Reaping

It’s time! In an unprecedented stroke of luck, our current total equals 36 characters, exactly enough for a Hunger Games round with three tributes per district! That means there’s not a lot of wiggle room, though, so submissions are closed, and it’s more important than ever that if any amends need to be made, they need to be made while there’s still time!

My system grows ever more haphazard, so please, if I’ve forgotten a character, misspelled a name or tag, tagged the wrong blog, mixed up some pronouns, or put someone in the wrong district, etc., let me know!
