this final 4 is absolutely amazing and i literally love all of them so much, but that just makes things 10x worse. i think that playing my idol on daisy was a huge risk and the fact that it is now a final 2 makes things a bit more interesting. my ideal plan was to have daisy in the final 4 with me so that i wouldnt be the next target, but now that she won immunity it just didnt work out how i intended at all!!

voting out jules and szymon is purely going to come down to which one of them will sway my way and it's going to hurt to send one of them to jury no matter what, but i just feel like i came all this way and not making top 3 would just suck so badly. so yeah, this sucks. i hate that no matter what i do im going to be upsetting people and hurting feelings but... i guess that's just the game! at this point im not even sure if i can win against daisy but it seems like she will take me, it just depends on whether or not i stay loyal to her if i win FIC or if i take whoever is with me in final 3.

someone (zach) asked me to rank the jurors from nicest to meanest...so here we go. ily all <3 <3

1. seamus (this will def come as a surprise, but seamus was the most levelheaded and nice one on the jury. he really never made a bitter comment even though he had every right to, especially at me/daisy/dylan and really anyone who was in after him except chips. like. he was the only person to reach out in pms after and it was immediate, he really comforted me and i really admire men who can have like good relationship w/ women that are platonic??? i know he's been like terrible in the past and i did call him on some stuff in hydravivor and ill be the FIRST to admit that i called him a crackhead on a daily basis but i think he's grown a lot!!!!!! idk. i think he's also the MOST self aware!!!! im a seamus stan, what about it?)

2. brandan (while brandan was kinda irrelevant game wise this season -- but not in our hearts -- he was very objective and a peacemaker. he had good reason to be MIA too so the fact that he got as far as he did means to me that he did form some strong social connections. and he did!!! with me, i think w/ conor, so idk, he had a role like i did in the game imo. i really liked him and he really brought a fresh perspective on things!!!)

3. szymon (he's only not ranked higher bc he's pissed off rob and he stands his ground a lot more outwardly than the first two, at least in the jury chat. also he's not had as much time as a juror. but even then, i think szymon is not a bad guy like some of the ppl make him out to be. like, idk, i think he made a mistake on a game level and he even admitted it and idk he's a legend. truly. im so glad to have met him and i think he was a really nice juror to have around while he was ACTUALLY around bc he stood up for me/daisy the way seamus did)

4. lovelis (lovelis makes some pointed comments but.....he's not dumb at all and so i don't think he's been bitter. also his pointed comments have been funny and mostly radiating the energy of the other Bitter Jurors so idk. i really like him on a personal level as well and have for a while so idk. i dont KNOW KNOW him but he's never been the type to make harsh comments without them having some merit to them. so i kinda trust his judgement even though he wasnt in the game long/an early merge boot. idk i think he's open minded enough and he's also someone who admits when he's done a Lil Too Much but he's really lovely. just competitive.)

5. chips (i dont think chips is MEAN per se, in fact, i dont think he has a mean bone in his body on a personal level. like WFIJFJIFWE I DONT KNOW HOW ELSE TO SAY IT HES SO FUCKING NICE!!!!!!! but thats why it's so funny to see him in games bc he's a lil lying, a lil backstabby and sometimes he's a lil passive aggressive. but its not undeserved. its also a pisces thing WEFJIEIEJWEFJIWEF i think what i saw in the jury house was sometimes chips going along w/ things, but i dont know, i really do not know much about chips game and ill probs ask him more afterwards?? but idk he was REALLY nice to me tho so FWIJFWEWFIFW i just dont trust him in games.......i dont know whats on his mind half of the time......)

I WANNA SAY FOR THE NEXT 3 MEN THEYRE HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY THEIR FIRE SIGN PLACEMENTS SO while i know some of them do hold resentment, its a lot easier to deal with and work with and with all 3 of them we've talked it out with/are going to talk it out. only #8 has been the MOST stubborn but idk imma let him do his thing & try not to pass too much judgement u know cause i dont need to waste my braincells on that

6. conor (knowing conor's astrological placements makes this make sense to me. but i wanna say that i think he's the type of leo to like be upfront, get it out, vent, and be fine? which is why i respect him a lot and i think we do have a mutual respect for each other. some of the comments he made were kinda rude tho and him fake liking astrology for social game was SO UGLY TO ME!!!! like i'll clown him for it for as long as i know him now cause....JOKE'S ON HIM!!!!!!! WJOEFWEOWEFO but that was kinda mean but def conor's come around and seen the light / has also reached out to me to talk. he's also admitted he left a mean speech in sbbb9 and regretted it so i think he might just shoot off at the mouth a bit. but BETTER THE DEVIL U KNOW THAN THE ONE U DONT and i appreciate the transparency NOW as opposed to the fakeness of him saying he liked astrology for social game. 7. rob (i actually really REALLY like rob on a personal level but i really do not know if i could play another game with him, at least survivor, id be open to playing bb. i think ill say that the best thing about rob is that he's also apologized, was one of the first to when i confronted them all, me and him have a good personal relationship tbh!! but some of the game comments he made were p harsh and he's definitely a lil bitter but again, he's admitted it, i think while he's more up front -- i dont think i ever wanna be on his bad side in a game. EVER!!! cause we didnt even have any loyalty to each other in the game but he was SO harsh on my game like it was wild bc i dont think id ever be that harsh to ANY OF THEM ABOUT THEIR GAMES LIKE THAT???? anyways. its fine bc again he's apologized and he's owned it but PHEW he got a lil bit of a sharp tongue. really eloquent tho!!!!!!!!!!! love hearing him speak)

8. gage (last but least the southern belle himself................this man an aries and i dont know his other signs but him being an aries man is enough. they POP OFF!!!!!! a lot of times there's some truth to it, sure, but sometimes they just be popping off and FOR WHAT!!!!! i do understand gage's frustrations though but even he apologized for being too mean in HIS FUTURE FUCKING CONFESSIONALSSSSSSSS TO MEEEEEE so. idk. he's got an issue with letting things go in games and miss annajane calls him on a lot of BS and it does NOT seem to really knock him down but. gage is really wht u see is what u get, doesnt really own his faults but at least u kinda know where ur at w/ him. but he's still probs the meanest one in there but i do understand from a game level why he was so fucked up about it, especially after hearing FTC. its just that. i understand his position. it is literally an hour and a half until the winner reveal and i really just have no idea what's going to happen. like in the back of mind i just have a feeling that im losing bc, yeah you know self-deprecation woo! but yeah idk i think i really gave this game my all and while i dont think i played it flawlessly, i still think i played a strong game i can be proud of :,)

having it be a live final tribal for my first ever like, jury questioning was just--- ugh wild but i actually think it went really well. just based on what people were saying it definitely seemed as if some of the jurors didnt really want to see me and daisy at the end or like, really werent consider voting for me but i think i was definitely able to sway some people who were willing to listen and definitely gave some of the jurors something to think about. so whether or not i win i do think that i had a really great final tribal performance, maybe it was even enough to sway enough people into giving me their vote?? anyways this has been such a wild experience and it's surreal to think that it's ending in like, a little over an hour but no matter what happens i can say confidently that i will be able to look back on this season fondly and will be leaving it with my head held high bc I REALLY DID THIS LIKE!!! Some long thoughts on a few #Gates

Right, I’m back and plan on reopening my asks soon-ish. Before I do that, though, I just want to address a few of the big dramas that unfolded in my absence. This is mainly so that I won’t end up addressing these questions through various ask replies, so if I don’t respond to your message it’s probably because I’ve said the last thing I’m going to say about it here. Onward!

On #RomanceGate

As we have previously established thanks to a tweet from David Kamp with the full, unedited transcript of the excerpt of the interview pertinent to romance, the published Vanity Fair article did not fully reflect what Rian was actually trying to say about the question of romance in Episode VIII. The Vanity Fair article said this:

FIVE THINGS THAT ARE NOT IN THE LAST JEDI

A big, central-to-the-plot romance. For all the fan-fiction fantasies of “Reylo” (an imagined union of Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren) or “Stormpilot” (the same, for John Boyega’s ex-stormtrooper Finn and Oscar Isaac’s pilot Poe Dameron), Johnson says that The Last Jedi offers “no one-to-one equivalent of the Han-to-Leia, burning, unrequited love. In our story, that’s not a centerpiece.”

And this is what was actually said between Kamp and Johnson in the interview:

Now, what initially seemed to rule out any inclusion of romance in The Last Jedi actually suggests something quite different - Rian seems to be saying that he was keen to include a big, sweeping romance, but that when it came to it the characters didn’t seem to be in the right place for that to happen. He doesn’t at all rule out subtle traces of romance or flirtation (as Kamp highlights in his tweet), thus the classic ‘wait and see’-style response. 

It is also very important to point out that the references to Reylo and StormPilot were clearly Kamp editorialising. While terms like ‘imagined’ and ‘fan-fiction fantasies’ sting to anyone familiar with all of the misogynistic BS female fans have to deal with for daring to be interested in the human relationships in these stories, as I see it the references to popular ships are simply there to provide context for the mainstream audience and boost SEO rankings. Rian Johnson has been very emphatic about distancing himself from Kamp’s phrasing, and the full quote makes it clear that no specific relationships were raised in the context of the original interview.

So, while I still think we need to be cautious and keep expectations for an overt Reylo romance in The Last Jedi low (as Rian says, there is no central romance plot in his film), I certainly think that the full quote should relieve the anxiety that love and attraction won’t be in play to some extent. Although I don’t think that we’re going to get a Reylo kiss (that’s my opinion re. The Last Jedi - come back to me after December to get my thoughts on Episode IX), it clearly isn’t out of the question that The Last Jedi will progress Rey and Kylo so that they are ready for a full-blown romance in the next film. I can’t stress enough that Rey and Kylo end The Force Awakens on different sides, with Kylo having killed his father and Rey having just slashed Kylo’s face open. They both have huge personal journeys to go on (Rey has to come into her own in the Force, and Kylo has to wake up to Snoke’s evil and show remorse for his terrible mistakes) before they can truly go on a journey together. Essentially, to progress from the current state of affairs to a consummated love affair in the space of a single movie would, to put it mildly, be pushing it. 

Speaking for myself, I would be ecstatic if The Last Jedi simply shows Rey and Kylo developing empathy and perhaps even compassion for each other. Rey has already defeated Kylo in a duel, so their journey together going forward won’t simply be one of antagonism - as J.J. said in his commentary (which was recorded after he had read the script for The Last Jedi), Kylo is “a character who [Rey’s] going to have a very interesting relationship with moving forward”. In short, I have no fear that the dynamic between Rey and Kylo Ren is going to remain static or be less important going forward. Rey and Kylo are crucial to each other’s stories, and we have every reason to believe that Rian is honouring that. 

On #PlotGate

Now, this actually didn’t worry me at all. But why would I - one of the people who has written thousands of words analysing the minutia of The Force Awakens - be unconcerned by the suggestion that Rian could do whatever the hell he wanted in The Last Jedi? Why am I not freaking out when there doesn’t seem to be a plan for the trilogy?

Well, the simple answer is that I’m not alarmed because these kinds of sentiments are far from new. From the very beginning, the narrative has always been that each filmmaker has a considerable degree of freedom to tell the story they want to tell. For a great explanation of how the early development of The Last Jedi worked, see this quote from J.J. Abrams from November 2015 (particularly the bold bits):

The script for VIII is written. I’m sure rewrites are going to be endless, like they always are. But what Larry and I did was set up certain key relationships, certain key questions, conflicts. And we knew where certain things were going. We had meetings with Rian and Ram Bergman, the producer of VIII. They were watching dailies when we were shooting our movie. We wanted them to be part of the process, to make the transition to their film as seamless as possible. I showed Rian an early cut of the movie, because I knew he was doing his rewrite and prepping. And as executive producer of VIII, I need that movie to be really good. Withholding serves no one and certainly not the fans. So we’ve been as transparent as possible. Rian has asked for a couple of things here and there that he needs for his story. He is an incredibly accomplished filmmaker and an incredibly strong writer. So the story he told took what we were doing and went in the direction that he felt was best but that is very much in line with what we were thinking as well. But you’re right—that will be his movie; he’s going to do it in the way he sees fit. He’s neither asking for nor does he need me to oversee the process.

There are endless quotes from J.J. and Kathleen Kennedy supporting this picture, and I think this is exactly as it should be. Rian is not making The Last Jedi in a vacuum - he is building it on the foundation set by The Force Awakens, and had a say on the development and presentation of that film so that it would weave seamlessly into his movie. Rian even reiterated this sentiment himself in the main Vanity Fair article on The Last Jedi:

J.J. and Larry and Michael set everybody up in a really evocative way in VII and started them on a trajectory.

Rian is insistent on stressing his independence as a filmmaker at every stage because people are keen to paint him as a slave to the Walt Disney Company’s whims. At every turn, he has to deal with people assuming that The Last Jedi will repeat the trick played by The Force Awakens by mirroring its famous and beloved antecedent - for The Force Awakens this was Star Wars, and people expect it to be The Empire Strikes Back for The Last Jedi. Understandably, Rian wants to stress that The Last Jedi is his baby - it’s infused with his own creativity rather than studio notes and nostalgia. 

But, at the same time, that doesn’t mean that Rian can do whatever the hell he wants. I can almost guarantee that Rian would have received furious correctional notes if he had tried to pitch a story where Rey Rey Binks died in the second act. There will be certain strands established in The Force Awakens that The Last Jedi will nurture and evolve, and Rian will be taking pre-existing characters and relationships and building on them further. As Pablo appeased an anxious fan on Twitter:

In short, there absolutely is collaboration - between the individual filmmakers, and between the filmmakers and Lucasfilm. Rian is free to tell the story he wants to tell, but that story has a baseline in The Force Awakens and also has a responsibility to establish a platform for Colin Trevorrow to build on with Episode IX. The filmmakers are talking to each other, and there is absolutely collaboration and handoff between them so that these film will ultimately make sense as a trilogy as well as on their own terms. 

In other words, I really don’t see much to worry about. I have seen nothing but praise for the script for The Last Jedi, and Rian’s filmography amply demonstrates his talent as both a writer and a director. 

I’m as excited for The Last Jedi as I ever was, so I hope I’ve been able to put some people’s minds to rest with this. Bring on December!

In Australia at least, greyhounds have to race in those muzzles. They’re very light weight and are easy to slip on and off. Greyhounds have very narrow heads compared to other breeds, so non-flexible muzzles often don’t fit them very well. A greyhound muzzle is just like a wire basket and can basically be worn all day, except for meals.If a greyhound is not certified through the Greyhound Adoption Program then it has to wear this muzzle in public by law. The GAP certification means it’s been tested safe around small dogs.

A handwritten card with a photo of the pet which thanks staff by name is also more appreciated than people think. It reminds us why we’re in this profession in the first place and if you’re having a bad mental health day they can really pick you up.

A bleeding abdominal tumor is very rarely a good thing. There’s not anything that can be said to actually lessen your loss but I’m glad it’s comforting to know that making a decision at the time is the right thing to do.

That’s different. I’ve certainly had hypothyroidism cause baldness but not hairs that are ingrown before.

I’m not sure what to tell you without examining the dog, Anon. She might have neuromas at the site of amputation, which are chronically painful but sometimes respond to medication, or she might be genuinely itchy as feet and tail base are common sites to scratch from multiple different causes. You need a vet to examine your pet for more information.

I would bet you money that if somebody poked your cat’s lesion, it would show pain. Just because a cat isn’t crying or sooking all the time doesn’t mean something isn’t painful. I would get a second opinion, and I would strongly consider having any affected teeth out.

If it is the cruciate ligament that’s tweaked/sprained/strained/stretched in some way, there’s no ‘miracle cure’ for you to find online. You just have to enforce rest so that she doesn’t bust her other one (as something like 10% of dogs will do).

Strict rest, limiting food intake (because they will gain weight when you force them to be less active) and passive range of motion exercises (lie dog on side, gently move leg through circle it would move if they were walking 5-10 times) is all I’d recommend at this stage.

I generally recommend chew toys or puzzle feeders, since they can amuse themselves with those whilst not moving about much. It’s hard to keep them entertained while confined, but it’s important for their healing.

I’d get his leg checked just to be safe, but jumping is generally a higher risk of injury than just walking or running. You may need to modify your games so that he isn’t encouraged to jump, eg rolling balls along the ground instead of throwing them.

It’s also possible that the implant is aggravating him in some way, although this is uncommon.

It’s common but it’s not normal. He could have a hormonal condition, or an allergy, or an anal gland problem depending on where the fur loss it. If you know he’s sensitive to fleas then both dogs should be on a consistent, quality flea control as ‘keeping them apart’ isn’t likely to do anything.

I’m not willing to give specific recommendations for animals not directly under my care. This is because most chews still have a risk of tooth fractures or choking, and I do not want to be ethically responsible.

Broadly speaking raw bones of an appropriate size can be good, as can any chew with VOHC certification. Things like antlers and rawhide tend to give no benefit, and may actually be detrimental.

I don’t know what’s in OFF but you could consider spraying permethrin on the legs and chest of the dog. (Do not ever use in cats). You should talk to your local vet about what tick borne illnesses they see, because we generally don’t see them here and they may vary by region.

It’s certainly possible to have residual scaring in the heart after a heartworm infection, but again you should be talking to your own vet about your dog’s particular case.

So, it seems like homozygous polled goats do have a higher risk of being intersex overall. This is because there is another gene which is closely associated (on the same chromosome) as the polled gene and they are often inherited together. When the goat is homozygous for this gene the females may be all sorts of intersex and the males have reduced fertility.

It’s possible (and desirable) to have some lines where the polled gene is not associated with this intersex gene, but it may take genetic screening and simple luck for us to figure this out and isolate it.

Their sense of smell, and what they find nice/offensive, is different to ours. Also consider the fact that your hands are now coated in this scent, and it’s your hands that pat her, so you will potentially coat her in the scent as well. No wonder she takes offense

The reason you wont find muck professional advice about ‘Boxweilers’ is because they are a mixed breed that has been given a cutesy name to make them easier to sell. They are not a breed, they are a cross. As such you can consider information about both parent breeds as potentially being relevnt to your pup.

I’ve talked briefly about Breed Specific Legislation before, and I think while there could potentially be some types of BSL that are useful, in their current form they are not useful for reducing dog bites or protecting the public.

I really don’t watch vet shows any more. They’re not relaxing, they’re not entertaining and they don’t let me rest my brain. You can’t live and breathe veterinary medicine all the time and still stay sane.

They’re kind of ethically gray too, because producing these shows often require repeated filming which may not be in the best interest of the patient. I listened to some TV vets talk about the process, and how having the film crew interfered with their work and meant they had to take on less cases. Also how they had to do multiple takes of them driving through the farm gate and inane things like that. It’s really difficult to do best practice medicine because it’s often not ‘pretty enough’ for television.

I know that Village Vets Australia did at least try to do everything as well as they could do, but I’ve not personally watched it for the above reasons.

When The Drugs Stop Working

    So as you may or may not know, the largest annual electronic dance music festival music festival in the country (The Electric Daisy Carnival) took place in Las Vegas over this past weekend. This was my third year being in attendance to my favorite event I look forward to every year. It’s truly the most beautiful spectacle of lovers of the EDM scene and newcomers alike gathering in the Nevada desert to celebrate life and the culture that has formed around the music itself. The culture itself is something of a Woodstock in the 60′s vibe: drugs, love, music and experiences alike. Rave Culture is built on this foundation of four commandments, if you will: Peace, Love, Unity & Respect, otherwise known as “PLUR.” 

    I had never experiences PLUR until I went to my first Insomniac event in 2014. It was Bassrush at The San Bernardino NOS Events Center. Insomniac is the company who puts on EDC and other smaller events all around the world. They have come to be known as the leading name here in the US for events that truly represent the foundational beliefs that PLUR is still alive and well! Which I can confirm they have formed this atmosphere in which these ideologies thrive! To some, it has even become an escape of sorts from all the negativity and bullshit we face in our daily lives with the countless tragedies and political climate changes the world faces day by day. I for one, am one of those who really value the therapeutic traits of this neon mecca over the course of the three day weekend. 

    So, as I have every year since attending, had built up this crazy amount of excitement to go forth and make the epic pilgrimage to this place I had come to call home. I stashed away a stack of cash to spend on tickets and other expenses and counted down the days until it was time again to be “Under The Electric Sky.” Aside from the music alone, EDC offers so much more than just stages with acts. I’ve come to learn that the people are what truly make the experiences memorable. And the partaking of substances has a certain effect on me, in which I can not only be my super-social-butterfly-self, but knock down any emotional barriers or sense of ego to truly connect with others! There’s nothing quite like it in the world! From the countless experiences I’ve had at numerous concerts and music events, the ones I’ve spent intoxicated getting deep with another person at EDC always rank in the top spots! I couldn’t wait to see who I would meet this year. 

    Without a doubt I had the time of my life again this year! I got to enjoy the freedom that comes with going alone as well as meeting up with my cousin and her friends while showing them the ways of the rave scene! I had taken some ecstasy and the love was radiating through my very body! I made my way down to the bass-centric stage known as The Basspod to see one of my favorite acts I had been dying to see, Boombox Cartel! They delivered one hell of a set! But something caught me off guard: only one of the duo was present during the performance. Now having seen my share of performances that usually means something personal has happened or there are troubles amongst the team. About 40 minutes into the set the music stopped and sure enough the issue would be discussed. 

    The crowd grew quiet and then chanting for more music ensued. Our main man had asked for silence and then began to explain, “Yo I got something to tell you EDC” In my mind I thought of the worst case scenario: A break-up had happened. It’s happened before with another favorite group of mine, What So Not, when Flume had decided to leave the project to Emoh Instead to focus on his solo work. Luckily, I was wrong about that. “You know Boombox Cartel is a duo, it’s a brotherhood, it’s a family!” Everyone cheered with pride knowing the love of the two of them was alive and strong. “But due to recent political reasons my brother couldn’t make it out tonight.” My heart sank as the crowd collectively exclaimed in disbelief. “We are both Mexican! My brother is Mexican born and I am first generation American! But due to the BS that’s going on, my partner couldn’t make it out to our biggest show here at EDC along with a few others. Tonight I want him to feel the love all the way back at home from here!” The unbelievable amount of love and support from my fellow Latinos was AMAZING! We united to comfort each other and our boy on stage. About 10 different variations of the Mexican flag were waving all around the crowd! We all had been affected by the events of this past year because of our race and in that moment we were united. But I couldn't help to feel so saddened by this and the tears began to roll down my cheek. 

    This place I had seen as my paradise to escape to, had finally been infected with the parasitic bullshit that our country’s political system had created. I was crushed for a solid 10 minutes just thinking how could this happen? The only thought that came to my head was a revelation: It is up to us the music makers and the dreamers of dreams to create the change! We show love through the music and it is in that true change will come! I held on to my fellow Mexican brothers and sisters embracing next to me and I swear I was 100 feet taller! Fuck all that bullshit. I wasn’t going to let some Orange Asshole come into my turf and ruin all that I love. This is EDC! This is PLUR! Anyways I just wanted to share with you what was an interesting moment for me during my EDC experience this year.
