The ''Seikilos Epitaph'' is the oldest surviving complete musical composition, including musical notation, from anywhere in the world. This is our first ever interpretation of this ancient song using only an 'ancient' Greek lyre, kymbala('ancient' cymbals) and vocals (female & male) recorded 23 years ago. The piece was written by Seikilos and was probably dedicated to his deceased wife Euterpe, which said: 'While you live shine, have no grief at all, life exists only for a short while and time demands its toll'.
Released for the first time on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music and other digital platforms, enjoy!

Rick Grimes & The Nymphe
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: The Nymphe in the forest and her fairies help save an older man that was wounded, she healed his wound and hummed a song that echoed in his mind. When he woke up, the maiden was nowhere to be found yet his wound was healed to the bone. When he ran home, the only thing on this mind was the echoes of the maiden's hums.
Warning: Age Gap | The maiden is in her early 20's and Rick Grimes is in his late 40's

Her laughs echoed through her forest, the river sang with her and the trees sheltered her. She was a flower singing the tune of the mother amongst the fallen world. The birds chirped and sang about the nymphe and the love she holds in this pollution. She is an embodiment of hope, she is a child of mother nature.
Although the world has fallen to the hands of the dead, the maiden and her fairies live safely within their sacred forest. The walking corpses never make it pass the forest barriers, the fairies and whimsical creatures that watch over the maiden make sure of it.
One or twice in the past, humans have crossed the barriers and spotted the maiden bathing and spied on her with their filthy eyes. They tainted her forest with their thoughts and planned to kidnap the maiden but before the maiden was harmed, the men were burned alive by the maiden herself. She danced around the fire as they screamed and sacrificed them in the sight of the goddess of the night.
Not all humans are filthy though. The maiden has had some heart warming encounters as well, children that were separated from their group, sisters who needed shelter for the night and a young boy who was about to end it all. She always took care of the sacred beings in her forest, she cradled the lost children and comforted the lost souls. None of the souls have ever spotted the fairies or the other creatures but they always knew she was magical. How could they not? She had the beauty of the moon and the love of a gentle mother.

As the maiden dances in her fairy circle she starts to hear a horse's hooves on the sacred soil. She looks around and spots an older pained man on a white mare, he had an arrow in the chest and looked as if he bathed in blood. The blood trickled down his hands as he winced in pain. There were no walkers or humans nearby the man and his horse yet they were both injured.
The maiden rushed to his aid as the man fell from his horse. The horse's white coat of hair was stained red, she had bites all over her and was on death's door, yet she brought this injured man to safety. The maiden observed the man on the soil, bleeding out, her feet already stained with the blood of this man and the horse. He had a gray beard and sparkling blue eyes that made her heart jump. He was wearing an old sheriff uniform and brown boots that were stained red. She bent down and noticed the man's eyes struggling to stay open, he groaned and winced in pain. The maiden tended to his wounds and kissed his forehead.
The maiden carries the man and lays the man in her sacred fairy circle and the animals gather around and stare at the wounded man. The fairies and animals help her stop the bleeding and surround the man with sticks and flower petals as a cast of protection. The fairies reassure the maiden that the man will be okay and send her to gather the healing water as they stop the bleeding and pull the arrow out.
The maiden looks at the man once more and looks at her body that was stained red. She took off her white dress and gently folded it, the sunlight bathing her bare body. This was the first time a man has tainted her with his filth and she didn't mind. The maiden hums and jumps on the stepping stones across the river to gather the healing pool that sits in a cave covered in the maidens candles and flowers.
She touches the flame of each candle she passes by and she picks up the wooden bucket by the healing water and sits down. She closes her eyes and gathers the water. She hums the tune of the mother's mercy and prays to the moon that the man makes a full recovery.
"My moon, please heal this man, bless this man with my love. Clean his wound and protect this man as he sleeps and as he wakes. Blessed be my love."
She walks back to her fairy circle after crossing the river and notices the fairies attending to his wounds, she smiles and sets the bucket down near his body and she pours some of the water on his wound. The water instantly healed his wound and the forest sang.
She had her knees to her chest and stared at the man, shirtless with a scar on his chest and she spaced out. Music played in her mind as she hummed, as she hummed a spell was cast on the man, whispers, giggles, and chants could be heard in the deepest core of Rick's mind.
It echoed in Rick's mind as he slept through the night, the moon's light shimmered on his face. Rick found himself awake in the middle of a forest, no fairies, no maiden in sight but he could hear the echoes of her humming..
He panicked and checked his wound and saw that it was completely healed. He looked around one more time, completely shocked. He walked around a bit more to see if there was anyone in sight but no one was near. His white horse wasn't in sight either nor his colt python. His mind ached and his vision was distorted, the forest started echoing the voices of the hum, a beautiful voice yet the voice echoed so loud it started to hurt Rick's ears. Rick found the exit of the forest and looked back once more, he knew there was something off about the forest yet he wasted no time getting home. Rick started running back to the railroad that led to his small cabin miles away.
As Rick was sprinting to his cabin, his mind ached, the only thing on his mind right now was the echoes of the hum. The image of a girl kept flashing in his mind, a beautiful maiden who wore nothing but flowers around her body. She was a fairytale.

Lovely friends, we present to you another very old song of ours in English. The song was recorded in Thessaloniki, featuring Australian singer and songwriter Louisa John-Krol as guest musician. Originally meant for another project, it was kept as a hidden gem until now. Louisa John-Krol who wrote the lyrics shares some words about Weddingone : ‘’The subject is young love. Two lovers have married, possibly in secret, after an elopement. Perhaps it is not even any kind of official or legal wedding, rather a union in a pagan, heathen, sylvan setting. Old Nod is another word for sleep. He turns his head away in respect for mortal privacy. The word 'gloaming' is one of my favourites. It means twilight. For faerie people, this is the liminal space between night and day, neither one nor the other. Dusk. Gloaming can be a noun, verb or adjective, so it's versatile for conjuring magic in language. Hardly anyone uses it now. I find it magical visually and sonically, like how Daemonia Nymphe celebrates ancient Greek words, ways and Mythos. There is a shadowy sense of foreboding that such impetuous romance is superficial in its brazen focus on youth. It is unlikely to last, or perhaps will change into something else with time.’’ The song is based on the original tune 'Hymenaios' (Krataia Asterope) which was sung in ancient Greek, enjoy!

In search of some background music, I came across this lovely group.
Daemonia Nymphe is a band founded in 1994 by Spyros Giasafakis and Evi Stergiou. Their music is made with replicas of ancient Greek instruments, such as the aulos and kithara. The group has not been active much in recent years. Their most recent album stems from 2013, but they have released a couple of singles in the meantime. Judging from videos of live performances, these are quite theatrical.
Though their songs definitely have modern influences, they use original hymns as a basis for lyrics and composition.
Recommended listen: Daemonia Nymphe (2006 album). Hypnos from Psychostasia (2013).
