Stoat again :]

i love you media that emphasized mundanity. i love you media that says you still matter as a person even if you don't achieve something great. i love you media that says existing and being alive is enough. i love you "we might not remember your poems, but we'd remember you." i love you "i was no hero" "perhaps. but you are a brave man." i love "in another life i would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you." i love you "but who's gonna watch the deer?" i love you the mundane as something to be loved for

Thorn Vale loves his niece and nephew so much that watching them go far beyond what any stoat before has accomplished makes him think "Lila is BRIGHTER THEN THE SUN, and Jaysohn is swifter then the wind! Im a prophet bc i prophesied these two wonderful young stoats and they happen to be my family" like. it made me want to cry so much.

"Now I'm not saying that we rush into there headlong and start fighting this Light...but...(t)here may be answers there that maybe could break this cycle and stop us from just being...I'm going to appreciate that I'm not in my congregation. I am with my family, and me talking as a member of this family with children on the way, all I want is to keep us safe."
- Thorn Vale, Burrow's End Ep. 3
"But when this conflict happened here, I was lining up a shot and you swept my leg at the last second. 'Cause you were talking, talking, talking and I was like, he hasn't mentioned his kids! He hasn't mentioned that he's gonna be a dad. And I swear to god, Tula was gonna fucking—"

Anyone who is interested in Eldritch Horror as a genre needs to watch Burrow’s End. Aabria is giving us a master class in what makes Eldritch Horror so scary. It’s not just that there’s a big scary monster that has the wrong number of limbs or eyes (although we are getting that in the form of the hazmat suits), nor is it the wrongness of the effects of the creatures (which we get in the parasitic chipmunks), it’s how much bigger everything is than the stoats.
It’s the concept of witnessing something so much above and beyond your comprehension that you can’t describe it. It’s trying to explain what that thing is when you don’t have the vocabulary, and how strange things become when you have to dumb down what you saw so others can understand. Having to say things like “non-bear” and “blue sun”. It’s trying to explain what reading is when there’s no concept of a written language with letters. How unsettling things are when you can’t understand.
We even get the root of Eldritch Madness in Thorn. He seems strange, sketchy, and even unstable to his family, not because he’s actually “mad” but because he witnessed something incomprehensible. He understands something fundamental about the world that no one else can grasp unless they’ve also witnessed it.
Everything about this, even the pieces of the puzzle that the audience can put together with their own experiences, is made unsettling and strange.

The power couple ⚡
Viola and Thorn are such interesting characters. I love Viola's intense First Lady vibe and Thorn's bumbling leader character, they're so cute! And slightly less terrifying than the rest of their family, surprisingly.
