Skynex Against Shaheds - Ukraine Got a New Weapon - Technology Org

Skynex Against Shaheds - Ukraine Got a New Weapon - Technology Org
Back in December 2022, Germany revealed that it will provide Ukraine with two Skynex short-range air defence systems. This was basically a response to Russia’s kamikaze drone attacks that were destroying Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. It was revealed now that the first Skynex system has been delivered to Ukraine at the end of last year.

„Defense Express“ analysts say that this delivery was a bit unexpected, because Skynex wasn’t mentioned in the recent military aid packages. However, as said before, it was planned over a year ago. The second Skynex system should arrive in Ukraine in March. These systems are supplied by the German defence industry giant Rheinmetall and are paid for by the German government. It is estimated that the two systems will cost an astonishing 182 million euros.
It is an incredibly valuable tool though. A Skynex system includes four Revolver Gun Mk3 cannons, a CN-1 control centre, and an X-TAR3D radar all mounted on the HX truck chassis. The main advantages of this system are its mobility and ability to respond to different threats very quickly, whether it would be drones, like the Shahed-136, or even cruise missiles. With air-bursting ammunition, which basically creates an impenetrable cloud of shrapnel in the air, the Skynex guns can defeat even tiny targets at a distance of 4 km or more.
The 35 mm Revolver Gun Mk3 is, obviously, the dagger in this system, even though it would not work without the X-TAR3D target acquisition and tracking radar. These autocannons have an astonishing rate of fire of 1,000 rounds per minute. It is computer-controlled and estimates where it should fire in relation to the target position and speed in the sky.
The entire system of radars and guns is connected in a C2 network, shares data and works together to engage multiple targets at the same time. In simple terms, Shahed drones will not fly through an area protected by the Skynex systems.
The Skynex is a short-range system, armed with automatic guns – of course, it cannot defeat ballistic missiles. But such a high-tech weapon will be able to protect some sensitive areas in Ukraine that would be repeatedly attacked by Shahed drones.
Ukraine will likely position Skynex guns on the frequent routes of the drones, trying to intercept them on their way. Of course, these systems themselves may be targeted by Russia, which is why their positions will constantly change and you may not even see their pictures online.

Ukrainian Su-24 Fencer tactical bomber armed with SCALP-EG cruise missiles, Ukraine, August 6, 2023. Source: Oryx
P.S. We all remember how Kremlin propaganda and "useful idiots" serving Moscow boasted more than a year ago at the beginning of the war that the Russians had defeated Ukrainian aviation and they destroyed all Ukrainian Su-24 tactical bombers, but none of the Kremlin's claims are true, Ukrainian aviation continues to successfully destroy Russian bridges and everything else.
Pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force fight surprisingly effectively, flying fairly old Cold War Soviet-era aircraft. Imagine what they could do if they had modern NATO equipment and enough cruise missiles...
Even when the Russians are forced to admit the successful attack by the Ukrainians, the Russian propaganda turns out to be lying! It was quite interesting to hear today how the Russians "supposedly shot down everything". It was so funny propaganda show, but the funniest are those idiots who believe in Russian TV stories...

The indictment of Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court has disrupted his travel plans for later this year.
According to two sources close to the Putin administration, these trips were very important for domestic propaganda, among other things, because Russia’s pro-government media could cite them while telling citizens that Russia “still has more friends that detractors” and that it remains “one of the pillars of the multipolar world.”
“The restrictions on foreign visits will work in the opposite direction. Before the warrant, [Putin’s] trips abroad were combined with foreign leaders’ trips to Moscow. Now, it won’t be possible to keep having meetings with the same frequency — you can’t constantly invite everybody to come to you,” one source said.
Yep, being a war criminal sort of makes you socially unacceptable.
The president’s foreign travel difficulties have already begun: in August 2023, South Africa is slated to host the next BRICS summit, and Cape Town has already said that it’s “cognisant of its legal obligation” regarding the ICC warrant. Putin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, however, has said that the Kremlin has remained “calm” and will “continue working.”
Not everybody in the Kremlin has remained “calm”. Former President Dmitry Medvedev, who’s become a reliable source of hyperbolic hysterics, is threatening to bomb The Hague with hypersonic missiles.
Russia's former president suggested firing a hypersonic missile at The Hague after Putin's ICC arrest warrant: 'Look carefully into the sky'
Maybe the ICC shouldn’t worry too much about Medvedev’s latest hissy fit. Ukraine just destroyed a train loaded with cruise missiles in Dzhankoi in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Russian cruise missiles destroyed in strike in Crimea, Ukraine Defense Ministry says
This makes Putin look bad while Chinese President Xi Jinping is in Moscow for a state visit.
Not only was Ukraine able to hit the target, but Ukrainian intelligence had discovered in advance where the cruise missiles would be at that time. Cheers to Gen. Budanov!

Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles
Cruise Missiles and Ballistic Missiles. How do they compare with other types of large ammunitions since and during their creation? Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles are two prominent types of missiles used for military purposes, with distinct characteristics and applications. North Korea fires cruise missiles 4th time this year, Seoul says
On 2 February, North Korea launched several cruise missiles off its west coast, Asian media reported.
This is the fourth time Pyongyang has launched such missiles off both coasts.
The launch took place around 11 a.m. (10 a.m. GMT+8), South Korea’s military said.
Since last week, North Korea has said it has tested “strategic” cruise missiles, implying they could be designed to carry nuclear warheads.
Earlier this week, state media reported that the country had tested new submarine-launched cruise missiles (SLCM). Leader Kim Jong Un was on site to observe the launch, which used missiles with the same identifying marks as land-based missiles.
South Korea’s military said the North appeared to be testing the missiles to improve their capabilities.

Best option for all: Several countries are embarking on a search for Patriot systems - Technology Org

Best option for all: Several countries are embarking on a search for Patriot systems - Technology Org
Ukraine needs more Patriot missile systems. Its cities are being attacked by ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. It would also be good to make Russian planes scared of coming even close to the air defence zone of Ukraine.

After the NATO summit in Brussels, where Ukraine has reminded its allies that it needs more weapons and ammunition, information about intensive searches for Patriot systems appeared. The MIM-104 Patriot is considered to be pretty much the best option for air defence for Ukraine. These systems can efficiently deal with cruise missiles, manned and unmanned aircraft. The Patriot can even shoot down ballistic missiles and has some wins against hypersonic weapons too.
According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, the United Kingdom is now joining the global search for Patriot missile systems that could be transferred to Ukraine. The Patriot is an American air defence system in service since 1981, but there aren’t enough of them in Ukraine or, it seems, even its Western allies.
Russia is constantly attacking the cities of Ukraine with all sorts of weapons, so Ukraine’s allies will see what they can do to acquire more Patriot systems to close the sky over Ukraine. Manufacturing new systems would simply take too long, which means that the UK will be talking to other countries that have bought Patriot systems for their own protection.
The user list of the MIM-104 Patriot includes Germany, Greece, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, UAE, the United States and, of course, Ukraine.
Kułeba said he had spoken with UK Foreign Minister David Cameron, who confirmed that the country would look for air defence systems for Ukraine. Germany is already involved in the Patriot search. It won’t be easy though.
Saudi Arabia could be a Patriot donor with 18-25 batteries of these systems (including PAC-2 and PAC-3 versions) in their possession, but Germany once blocked the sale of 48 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets to Riyadh, and it is now uncertain whether Saudi Arabia will agree to cooperate with Germany on the Patriot issue. Perhaps Saudi Arabia will talk with the United Kingdom, with which it maintains more friendly connections in the field of military equipment.
The Patriot has been operating in Ukraine since April 2023. These air defence systems were transferred to Ukraine by Germany, the Netherlands and the US. The Patriot has proven time and time again to be one of the most effective air defence systems on Earth. It shot down several ballistic missiles, which is never easy to do. Even the downing of the hypersonic Zircon missiles is credited to the Patriot.
Depending on the version, the Patriot can hit targets at a distance of up to 160 km. PAC-3 can also destroy modern ballistic missiles at a distance of up to 35 km.

Journalists have obtained evidence that Russia has been attacking Ukraine using Kh-55 cruise missiles which were officially handed over by Kyiv to Moscow as part of an agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Russian government in 1999 in exchange for paying off debts for Russian gas(..)
P.S. Another reminder of how stupid it is to make friends and make some sort of agreements with the Russians. After the collapse of the "evil empire", one of Ukraine's biggest mistakes was maintaining political and military ties with Russia, remaining in the Commonwealth of Independent States and having open borders and a common information space with Russia! The Kremlin used these ties to actively harm the economic and political development of the Ukrainian state...
Good advice: If you want to be happy and prosperous, keep absolutely everything Kremlin and Russian as far away as you can...
