Mental health

As it was mens mental health last month (June) I thought I would start by talking about this topic. It is so good that mental health is spoken about a lot more than than when I was younger, for all genders it has been bought to the forefront in the media so much more now. I believe everyone in some forms suffers from this illnesses just depends on how bad. I have suffered over the years in varying degrees and the best thing I have found to cope with it is exercise and talking. If you are struggling there is plenty of people you can contact from various charities or call a friend or family member, I know I would prefer to hear someones thoughts rather than knowing they were struggling.

 Back to the cooking. With summer approaching fast, even after 16yrs of cooking in Cornwall on and off summer always seems to be upon us in the blink of an eye ! One minute we are in the depths of winter and business is ticking along nicely without too much stress, to all of a sudden the sun is out and all hell is breaking loose. Cornwall has an abundance of beautiful seasonal ingredients around in Spring/Summer so I thought why not put out a recipe, I could put out a delicious savoury dish but then thought who doesn’t love a SCONE ! These can made at home eat fresh or can also be frozen and defrosted at a later date. There is just one stipulation with a scone they need to be eaten very slightly warm smothered in jam and cream ! Now this is very much up for debate here in the South West it depends on if you are from Devon or Cornwall. If you are from Cornwall you top the scone with Jam then cream but Devon it is cream then jam. If  I ever post on social media about this it causes so much debate, honestly I am so use to putting the jam on first it tastes the best way but at the end of the day just spread it all on and fill your face as long as the scone isn’t dry and it is quality toppings ! Another great one is to have ginger scones topped with honey and cream, now that is one for a future recipe !

Afternoon tea with several dear friends at @quintealias_teaparlor … so good.. really my favorite place to sip great tea, eat too much gluten and sugar and just relax. ~26/9/2022~ I slept pretty well for a first night in a hotel. Parentals were not arriving to head out on an adventure until 10 so gave me a good amount of time to get ready. We went to Lidl first to get some lunch for the day, but there wasn’t much there I liked. We went to a national trust place - Upton House and Gardens. It was quite windy and rainy when we got there so did the house first - it was more like an art gallery inside, and I hate it when places make you carry your rucksack in your hand to walk around - I swear it would be much safer on your back! It was a bit brighter once we headed back out to the gardens - they were pretty nice, but my Pom was really struggling as he has a sore knee and hip. He also had an AF episode with his heart so didn’t seem very well at all. After lunch we were going to go to another national trust place but Pom wasn’t up to it, the weather was bad again, and we were pretty tired too. So went to a supermarket to get some dinner, then went back to the caravan for a couple of hours to rest. Pom had a sleep and it did seem to do him some good as he came out of AF, but hip is still really bad so not sure what the plan will be for tomorrow. When I was taken back to my hotel I managed to tune into autism women’s group, which I was pleased about as now it’s switched days I wouldn’t normally be able to join it as would have choir.
