Most jobseekers in Ireland say a pet-friendly workplace is more appealing
More than half, or 56%, of jobseekers in Ireland believe that companies that have a pet-friendly policy are more attractive places to work, according to a study by the ISPCA (Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and Mars Petcare.
The research also showed that 27% of jobseekers say that a pet-friendly workplace policy would influence their choice of where to work.
The jobseekers…
Donald Trump has never had a high regard for the health or even the lives of his supporters. We recall how he told them to take quack medicines during the pandemic emergency and retweeted anti-mask conspiracy freaks after he horrifically mismanaged the early response to COVID-19 in the US.
To Trump, nothing counts except Trump. His supporters are just disposable pawns in his political, legal, and business struggles.
He demonstrated this again by telling Iowa caucus goers that it's okay if they die — as long as they caucus for him first.
Donald Trump urged voters to get out to the Iowa caucuses even if they are “sick as a dog” in a defiant rally on the eve of his first major election test.
The former president said that even if people “passed away” shortly after voting it would be “worth it”, and once again launched attacks on the New York judge who had denied him a delay in his civil trial so that he could attend his mother-in-law’s funeral.
His remarks came during an in-person rally in Indianola on Sunday afternoon. Mr Trump was previously forced to swap out other planned events in Iowa with tele-rallies due to severe bad weather conditions in the state.
“You can’t stay at home,” he told those gathered. “[Even} if you’re sick as a dog and you say ‘darling I can’t make it…’
“Even if you vote and then pass away it’s worth it.”
It wouldn't be surprising if somebody DID die because they were sick and were told by Trump to caucus for him in sub-zero weather. In Des Moines, not the coldest city in the state, the temperature at 7 PM CST is predicted by the NWS to be -7°F/-22°C. It may be even colder when people are returning home from caucus locations. If you're not in good health, you shouldn't be outside in such conditions.
Despite being a lying gluttonous adulterer who hasn't been to church in decades except for weddings, funerals, and political events, Trump is treated as a god by many nominal Christian fundamentalists. Trump is their Baal.
The only way to counter such irrational fanatics is to outorganize and outvote them. Despite their willingness to die for Trump, they are still a minority. If we remain focused, determined, and (most of all) united, we will fend off the threat to democracy in 2024.
Hi! I hate to have to make a post like this, but I am in some need of assistance. I'm a disabled individual living on VERY limited income and most of my income has been going towards moving expenses as I am leaving this current housing situation in two months. I have already spent most of my paycheck on mailing off valuables to my next location. The next step is to get my furbaby the things he needs to travel comfortably with me.
The goal is to have him with me in the cabin to help not only him, but myself too with my anxiety. It's difficult traveling alone as an autistic individual, so my cat is my best bet in keeping cool without turning to opiates as a one day prescription.
Here is the amazon list, if anyone feels like helping.
And here are a couple photos of Steven hard as a rock Stone. He's a very sweet and loving cat. But, I am in a very poor state financially.
My roommate is not the best and has 'forgotten' about the cash I have given her to purchase specific things for the cats in the house. Instead using that money to buy cigarettes.
While I don't feel comfortable talking about too many details, I can comfortably say I live with a hoarder, that I am blamed for things out of my control ( like the bills she should be paying w my rent ), so on and so forth.
I'm incredibly sorry to ask for this help, but my hands are kind of tied. It's been insanely difficult to get out of an abusive situation while being disabled.
I'm masking up in the house right now because I was exposed to Covid and I don't want to get my roommate sick if I have it.
And my dog doesn't know what to do with my mask.
During the height of the pandemic my partner at the time and I were both in the house 24/7, so I only ever actually wore masks when I went out for grocery runs or to deliver stuff to friends. And the last time I was exposed at work, I lived alone with my dog-- so again, I only wore the mask out of the house.
So my dog is just very confused.
But she makes do.
Since the mask blocks her from licking me on the mouth (her true, if oft-thwarted goal), she's decided to start licking me around all the edges of the mask instead. Particularly my ears and my eyes.
So, I’m gonna ask you (yes YOU the person reading this) to do something. Since the end of the year is getting closer… ReBlog this (or don’t, I can’t really tell you what to do) and write something that your dog, cat, or other pet has done that may have saved your life and/or sanity this year. I’ll go first.
Pet type(s): Dog
Pet name(s): Cedar
Social Media (if any): Instagram (DogOfAllTrees)
What they did: So, this year (2022) around Halloween I finally got COVID-19. Like BAD. I was completely bedridden (and I was fully vaccinated and boosted, except for the latest booster at the time).
Anyway, when I got COVID, I had to isolate for everyone. Nobody could come near me because I was afraid I would infect them. And Cedar-dog was the only living being that could be around me without fear of being infected (I double checked with his vet too, just to make sure he didn’t need to be away from me).
When you’re sick, and you can hardly breathe, and you fall into the high-risk category of people for COVID… it’s really REALLY easy to get lost in your thoughts when you’re trying to fall asleep in the dark at night. Depressing and horrible thoughts about dying. I think Cedar knew I was going through some shit, cause I swear he licked my face over and over again when I was drifting in and out of sleep. He eventually fell asleep next to me on the bed… also woke me up when I was having night terrors during my sickness by licking my face.
People might laugh it off… but I think having Cedar around kept me sane during the isolation period. I think I’d have gone crazy without him. 😓
Have been careful as all hell, have been vaccinated four times, have never stopped masking, wash my hands like a maniac, and got covid for the first time yesterday 😭 And it has been NOT fun.
(The moral of this is NOT that any of these things are useless- it is actually that you should be doing them still (masking) and often (handwashing) because we owe it as a society to offer protection to the people who are immunocompromised or unable to be vaccinated because that is the POINT OF SOCIETY thanks for coming to my ted talk. Anyways. Scrub your hands for twenty seconds with soap and water. Wear masks in public. Don't go out and do things in public if someone you've spent time with has gotten sick. This is miserable for me and I'm an otherwise healthy woman in her late twenties- be considerate of other people!!!!!)
There is nowhere else I can talk about my life, and I need to get this out.
So my life recently fell apart. To be fair the only thing that had been holding it together was hope and fear.
After I had COVID and anemia related to COVID I pretty much lost all my spoons/tenacity for the entirety of 2022.
Most days from Jan til around November 2022 my anemia related symptoms would cause me to just fall asleep. Didn't matter if I had enough sleep, if I sat down I would fall asleep and stay asleep 80% of the time.
Needless to say 2022 was a waste. Mostly. I got no art done because it was just stress the whole year.
Because of my "near death" experience with COVID-19 and MORE. In may 2022 after 15 YEARS of being without, I decided to get a puppy.
Best decision of that entire shit year.
Then,
I thought my marriage would survive because we had been through much worse. but it didn't. Two weeks before Christmas he told me he no longer loved me and was leaving. Because my depression was too much and eternal. Or what ever. I don't care anymore.
And he was gone within a week after that.
I threw out the Christmas tree and anything associated with it. What was the point.
And I was alone. At least I had a Dog 🐕.
I was seriously considering offing myself. I threw out all my cooking knives and all the things I had accumulated in my kitchen for my future family. Everything. What was the point.
I have 1 pan, 1 plate, 1 spoon, 1 cup, 1 fork. Rice cooker.
I threw out the toaster. Like to throw from the balcony. Cause toast was his thing.
It's just me now.
My lease ends on May 26 2023.
Money is super tight.
I may go homeless. Even though I work full time @ $19 hr
My sense of taste is still normal, at least according to the pizza I just ate earlier, but my sense of smell is beyond fucked right now. I saw people describing the taste and smell loss as everything tasting and smelling like sewage before and I was like "what do you mean, sewage? like actually sewage or just a really bad smell?"
I have been in landfills many times in my life because of my stepdad's work so I have very clear memory of what landfills actually smell like and EVERYTHING smells exactly like a landfill to me right now. It is so disgusting. All strong smells, no matter what the smell actually is, instead smell like old sun-baked rotting trash. I understand why that one woman on TikTok was in tears now after living with fucked up smell and taste for over a year after she got COVID. If my sense of taste was this bad I would simply never eat food again. As it is I have to like... plug my nose because the food tastes fine but it SMELLS LIKE ROTTING TRASH and that makes me gag constantly.
Good smells are a big sensory thing for my autism and right now I would be fine never smelling another thing ever again, just take the whole sense away, I don't want it anymore. I can't even smoke because YOU KNOW HOW STRONG BURNING WEED ODOR IS??? SAME STRENGTH OF SMELL BUT JUST LANDFILL. IN MY NOSTRILS.
Last night, we kicked off the summer with the local summertime weekly concert a radio station hosts. I want Charlie to be involved with everything I do and she did so well. She's majestic, beautiful and simply well behaved. Four months old and such a good girl.
