This buzzard had been in a bit of a scrap, but lucky for me I wasn’t seen as a threat so I was able to get closer than I have previously to this bird of prey. They kept a close eye on me, but weren’t overtly bothered by the camera. Massively outnumbered by red kites, these buzzards are a treat to come across in the local countryside. #buzzard #commonbuzzard #birdofprey #predator #birds #featheredfriends #naturephotography #wildlifephotography #feathered_perfection #countrylife #countryfile #bbcautumnwatch (at West Berkshire, England, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CkyOPnKq2iF/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Just returned from holidaying in the Southern Uplands of Scotland where, in between hill-walking, I enjoyed a bit of wildlife photography in the grounds of the remote cottage where I was staying. Unfortunately the dreaded midges were out in full force, but luckily there were a few windy days which kept them at bay; so it was lovely watching the fledglings of certain species including Dunnock, Redstart, Pied Wagtail and the Wheatear seen here when the conditions permitted. Wheatears are a migratory insectivorous species that live in open country and fellside, so are a familiar sight to most fell-walkers and people who venture out in open countryside during the summer months. Pictured here, this juvenile female perched perfectly on a fallen tree branch with a mossy drystone wall forming a lovely backdrop. This particular bird was an adolescent as the plumage patterns had not fully developed, but it had matured just enough for me to distinguish it as female. #your_best_birds #bbcwildlifemagazine #wildlifephotography #BBCWildlifePOTD #bird_brilliance #nuts_about_birds #birdsonearth #countryfile #bbccountryfilemagazine #dgwgo #britishbirds #british_wildlife_hub #natgeonature #birdsofinstagram #bird_captures #rspb_love_nature #rspbimages #fiftyshades_of_nature #sonyalpha #sonyshooters #BBCCountryfileMagPOTD (at Scaur Water) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgE4ppnj_ZU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

People who look at the problem of "many people rely on fossil fuels to provide employment" and come to the conclusion of "So we should make more jobs in fossil fuels" fascinate me. Have you considered that instead of propping up an industry that is dying and also killing thousands every year we should perhaps find a way to make OTHER jobs in deprived areas that rely on those jobs? Provide subsidised transport for people? Or encourage remote working so people don't HAVE to either commute long distances or move away from remote communities and can then put their money back in to that community? No? We just gonna keep drilling for oil/gas and digging for coal? Ok then. :|
