TF Big Bang 2023 Preview

Hello once again! As you folks know, I’m taking part in this years @tf-bigbang! My incredible artist for this monster of a project is the lovely @candychameleon. 💖💜 (They created some of the most awesome work for this fic, I swear y’all it’s perfect!)

I’m super excited to share this fic with everyone come the 22nd! It’s going to be a continuity soup, looming-potential-apocalypse AU set on Cybertron with Nightshade as the main character! It’s been a lot of fun writing it and working with my partner for this, so I hope everyone else is as excited as I am!

And without further ado, the preview of my fic, tentatively titled Wayward, is here!

Time passed too quickly, or at least they felt like it did, because it wasn’t long before they had to abandon their cozy nook and go meet the High Priest. But, perhaps the librarian would let them check out the datapads so they could read them later in their room? He was usually fine with it. They padded to the front, and when the minibot looked up they held up the pads with a hopeful grin. He snorted, nodding and waving them on. They beamed and gave a shallow bow, then tucked the pads into their subspace and hurried out of the library and to the front yard. They saw the High Priest standing there, along with what appeared to be a contingent of Elite Guard, including the Magnus himself.

Nightshade frowned as they approached the older mecha, looking hesitant. “Sir? May I ask what you need of me?”

“You’re going to finally be useful, aberration.” The High Priest said coldly.

“What do you mean?”

“Cybertron is dying,” he said bluntly. “Our Creator is either displeased with us, or He has been poisoned. But either way, the problems began when you emerged. We are going to rectify the ailment that your creation caused our planet.”

That did not sound good. Nightshade didn’t understand what the mech was talking about.

“I do not follow.” they said carefully.

“We are going to sacrifice you to the core. You will be taken out of Iacon, and your frame dropped for the Creator to take back.”

2023 TF Big Bang - Ad Astra Et Retro!!

I'm so excited to present what I came up with for this year's Transformers Big Bang (@tf-bigbang)!! Behold: my beloved BlitzBee Barbarian/Tribal AU called Ad Astra Et Retro! I hope y'all like what I came up with!! I tried my best! This is the first time I've written something like this, let alone sharing it!!

I'm sooo glad I participated in my first ever Big Bang! I never would have written so much without the amazing support of everyone involved! I might have been mostly a lurker throughout, but seeing everyone so passionate, kind, and helpful with everyone's journeys really pushed me into believing in myself too! It's been awe-inspiring! So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone involved for making my first ever Big Bang a wonderful experience!! I can't wait to see what everyone has come up with!

Lastly, I hope we all continue to be inspired by the world around us and continue to create out of love!! Your creations make this world a better place, so embrace the light that burns within you and have fun telling your story!!

The solution: Make them an OC, give them a partner-in-crime who turns into an emo clown car, and give them a boyfriend. Now lets drop all three characters into a continuity soup AU and see what happens!

Drift is considerably older than Hot Rod in this having been a Decepticon a long time before he defected with Bumblebee speaking on his behalf. He was assigned to the Wreckers with Thunderclash, Hot Rod, and others. It was considered the best way to keep an eye on him and most of the main forces distrusted him.

Hot Rod instantly welcomed him after he agreed to race her and the others warmed up slowly. The Wreckers in this are incredibly skilled team and famous but not exactly the same Black Op Morally ambiguous missions from IDW1.

While he was with the Wreckers, Drift also met the Wreckers Adjacent members: Wheeljack who is friends with Thunderclash and Ratchet and whose mentee Brainstorm will slip them experimental weapons, Ratchet (Pharma's mentee) who is the unofficial Wrecker Doctor and Thunderclash's friend, and Orion Pax who helps Bumblebee (The Wreckers Main Contact and Secret Head of SpecOps), Jazz (Public Head of SpecOps) and Prowl (General and TactHead) with processing information and is very much a data mech.

Hot Rod acts as social lubricant for integrating Drift and recognizes him from Nyon because as a Decepticon officer stationed there he would occasionally interfere with roughing up civilians and once they even ran into each other when she'd stolen some Energon for fuel. He let her go with it and it left a good impression.

While they were on a mission Drift actually found and adopted the twins (Sunstreaker and Sideswipe) and eventually got transferred out of the unit to give them more stability. Hot Rod, thought she was being demoted, but actually got transferred with him to work under Elita and Magnus to get experience as a potential future leader.

So Drift is actually a babysittee here—

Also this sounds like a cool twist on the Wreckers!

Chapter 34 "Dead Battery" is now posted. Warnings for fic and chapter are available at the link.

It's an extra long chapter and took me nearly a month to write. The fic to date is over 300K words now and we still haven't even gotten to Autobots, Decepticons, or a war between them. However, a past war between Cybertronians and Quintessons frequently comes up and features in backstories.

Chapter 34 is still part of the ongoing The Village at Darkmount arc which features guest stars who are various artisans and traders, and may be a bit of an emotional roller coaster? Skywarp's learning even more about the war history but at the same time he's still dealing with injuries and disability from the events in Menonia and also at the same time questioning whether he - a bot whose attraction types do not involve interfacing - might want to choose to interface in some fashion. Also, he's still kinda a warlock with a light being inside him.

So main premise is that it was a dare that forced me to come up with a plot by piecemealing existing Transformers continuities initially and then it kind of grew from there.

Basically Megazarak (comics with a bit of inspiration from TFA) gets stopped from destroying his universe and being an absolute menace by being thrown into a new universe and the key slammed shut.

Or rather he was supposed to get thrown into a Dead Universe.

The problem is someone else had already been locked inside.

Quintessa.

Megazarak and Quintessa seethe together and plan and with their combined power break into Quintessa's original universe which is a tail branch of G1. Quintessa was locked away by the Knights of Cybertron who also happened to hide away important artifacts from her she needs to achieve full power and control.

A la Bayverse.

Megazarak and her still have a deal and one she is keeping him to. So he, knowing his own timelines history and seeing the similarities immediately starts positioning himself to lead the Decepticons and take over Cybertron while pursuing Quintessa's "side project".

This includes making sure Optimus Prime and Megatron never come to exist. But it is a slow burn of him building up rspectablity and influence and control.

He was admired as Cybertron's Golden General before his final coup. Classic "Might Makes Right" Decepticons rather than the more recent iterations coming from inequality. He made a very public story that painted him in the right for this but things slowly grew worse.

This leads to the formation of the Autobot Resistance, eventually, lead by Elita-1. The main story takes place well into the war with teh Autobots losing and the Lost Light preparing for departure.

Oooh! That is one hell of a chain reaction, especially with Quintessa and Megazark's deal and Elita One being the leader of the autobots (which sounds pretty cool in it's own right)
