“A Character Running” (Character Paintings)
This series is about the contrast of me being good at character forms as a Japanese man while losing my sense of belonging to my homeland. The fading of cultural and religious ties due to the crazy influence of our hyper-information world is a major challenge for us today… I guess."

Happy feast day of St. Catherine of Bologna! She is the patron saint of artists, and my patroness. Every year, I go "I have to post an art for this day", but this year I decided I was going to draw her this time.
I wanted to try and merge her living and incorrupt forms in one figure, squaring up to capture a scene to paint. She lived for 49 years as regular flesh and blood, but to the world has been a different form for 561 years. And it's so fascinating to look at images of her, because she looks rather gentle in death. I Just Think Incorruptibility Is Neat.

There is something to be said for not always needing to pursue more or invest yourself in the creators/writers/actors or whatever behind a thing you love. For instance, there was this contemporary poet whose poetry I really enjoyed and then I followed him on instagram and discovered he is the most insufferable man ever and now all his poetry is tainted by association like. I should’ve never even looked this man up lmao 😔
