I hope this is the right blog to ask this and that it won't sound too stupid, but how do you manage to draw such clean lines?
I've been trying my hand on and off at digital art for the past couple of years and drawing straight, clean lines with thin brushes is something I struggle with immensely
this isn't a stupid question at all!
so I actually consider myself someone who is more inclined to using traditional tools (pencil and ink) over digital (I keep several sketchbooks and do all of my studies and rough drafts by hand, I enjoy using water colors and oil paints, etc), and the techniques I use to do traditional art all carry over into how I draw digitally.
before I get into some more specific suggestions, for straight lines I have some more universal advice: a lot of people will draw from the wrist when you will get a much smoother, steadier line if you learn how to pull longer lines with your forearm/shoulder. this is something I learned to do with traditional art, but I carried it over to digital art (it's also vaguely reminiscent of advice I got when I played the violin, if that somehow clarifies the motion I'm trying to describe here. it'll save you a lot of wrist pain in the future!)
and now for the hard work part of this!
if you're willing to give the traditional art route a shot, this is how I'd go about doing it (because anything you learn traditionally can and will carry over to digital): I'd get a cheap sketchbook and do the usual round of artist warm ups (circles, straight lines), and then I'd do the same exercises again with a brush and ink. if you can pull a straight, smooth, steady line in brush and ink, you can pull a straight smooth line in literally anything. this is the main reason why my art looks the way it does, a lot of the traditional art I do, I ink with brushes, and my digital inking style is a direct result of that.
the downside to this is that if you're not used to it, it can be hard and the learning curve can be frustrating, and I've been doing it for a long time (like, over 7+ years now) (I also keep a sketchbook of pen only studies, which is probably the most nerve wracking thing to start, but the payoff is definitely worth it imo) this might not be something you want to do or have the time to invest it. which is totally fine!! because here's part two:
if the above is inaccessible to you in anyway for whatever reason, pen/brush stabilizers! I don't use them because they frustrate me (I know how I want my lines to turn out, so I get annoyed when something tries to 'fix' it for me and personally avoid them/turn the feature off), but I know a lot of people who use digital stabilizers with their digital art! some brushes have a stabilizer built in and you can adjust how much stabilizing you want (I find this a lot with procreate brushes, I always turn it off), clip studio paint has a stabilizer tool built into the program!
anyone who says using the stabilization features in a program/brush is cheating is a liar and a dick.
also if you ever need to draw a regular straight line digitally but with some line variation to it that the program won't give because it's straight line tool is too chunky, a lot of art stores sell these plastic six inch rulers that won't fuck up your screen/tablet, you can slap one of them down and draw a straight line with that sweet pressure variation using that.

How is procreate dreams?? Is it worth learning a new UI?
So far so good! I haven’t played with it long enough to really get the full experience yet. But here are my first thoughts:
Pros are definitely that it’s a complete animation program with a lot of the same UI elements as Procreate! You can port things over from one app to another, which is useful if you want to go back and forth between frame coloring etc. And you can have layers WITHIN your layers and not have to work with manually grouping layers together in a single animation frame and duplicate/keep track of them like that (it’s a godsend actually, that was my main gripe with procreate’s in-app animation). I love the ability to keyframe and draw inside and outside your camera, and that hypothetically, you can work entirely within the app! $20 well spent in my opinion, AND it’s not subscription based which is the best reason to get it I think (procreate better not start their subscription model now I’ll cry).
Cons are that right now, at least, it doesn’t have as many of the more granular customizable options that procreate as a drawing app has. For example, I want to go in and edit how the eraser works (I customized the brush on Procreate) and edit my pressure drawing controls (I have them turned off in Procreate because they bug me) but brush controls and pressure controls don’t have a way to mess with them right now. The app also JUST dropped for the general public, so I’m sure there will be updates and fixes as it goes on. The only other issue I’ve had is that while it does share a lot with procreate UI-wise, you still have to have external help with learning how the app works, and there are a LOT of functionalities and just animation/filmmaking concepts that are hard to grasp without either spending a lot of time with the app or being taught how to use it. I had this learning curve problem with procreate’s UI as well and am STILL learning new things about it, but other than the base UI staying the same, the new elements can be tricky to sus out on your own.
All that being said, the app is new! There will be updates and layman’s tutorials as people start to use it, but for now I think there’s a lot to learn but it’s probably my favorite tablet-native animation software I’ve used :)

7 III 2023
it's the second week of the semester and I must say that it's easier than I predicted
statistical data analysis is boring but easy, algebra 2 is easy but probably interesting, so is differential geometry
algebraic topology was funny because ⅓ of the group completed the algebraic methods course, so at first we told the professor to skip half of the lecture (we all know the required part of category theory) and then with every new piece of information he would say "ok maybe this will be the first thing today that you don't know", to which we would reply "naaah we've seen this" lmao. but the course overall will be fun and maybe it's even better that the level of difficulty won't be as high as I though, that would leave more time for my other stuff
the tutorial part of number theory was scary, because the professor wanted us to work in pairs. my autistic ass hates working in groups and the noise in the room was unbearable (everyone was talking about the exercises we were given to solve), so I was on the verge of a meltdown after 30 minutes of this despite ANC headphones. next time I will work by myself from the start. maybe without the requirement of communication it won't be as bad. the course itself will be easy, when it comes to the material. I know nothing about number theory, so the novelty will make it more enjoyable. a few people said that they would prefer the tutorial in the standard form, maybe I won't have to worry about surviving it if there are enough people who want to change it
my birthday is tomorrow and as a gift my parents gave me enough money to buy an ipad, I was saving for it since november. for a few days now I've been testing different apps for note taking, pdf readers and other tools useful for studying. I must say, this is a game changer, I absolutely love it
taking notes itself is less comfortable than on an e-ink tablet, which gives very paperlike experience, but it's better than traditional ones. the upside is that I can use different colors and the whole process is less rigid than on an e-ink
Tumblr media
two apps that seem the best for now are MarginNote 3 and GoodNotes
the first one is good for studying something from multiple sources. the app allows to open many pdfs, take pieces from them and then arrange them in a mindmap. it's possible to add handwritten notes, typed notes, photos and probably more that I don't know yet. all of this seems to be particularly useful when studying for exams or in other situations when it's necessary to review a huge chunk of material
Tumblr media
the second app is for regular handwritten notes. it doesn't have any special advantages other than I just like the interface lol what I like about taking notes on ipad is that I can take photos and insert them directly into the notebook, which I can't do on the e-ink. it's great for lectures and classes because I don't usually write everything down (otherwise I can't listen, too busy with writing) and even if I do, I don't trust myself with it so I take photos anyway. being able to merge the photos with notes reduces chaos
Tumblr media
oh god this is going to be a long post! other news from life is that yesterday I had a meeting with my thesis advisor and we finally picked a topic. some time ago he sent me a paper to try and said, very mysteriously, to let him know if it's not too hard before he reveals more details about his idea. the paper is about symmetric bilinear forms on finite abelian groups, pure algebra, and I was supposed to write about algebraic topology, so I tried to search where this topics comes up, but didn't find anything. it turns out that it's used to define some knot invariant, which I would use to write about the classification of singularities of algebraic curves. in the meantime my advisor had another idea, which is an open problem in knot theory. we decided to try the second one, because there is less theory to learn before I could start writing the paper
to summarize what I'm about to do: there is a knot invariant called Jones polynomial, which then inspires a construction of a certain R-module on tangles and the question asks whether that module is free, if so, what is its rank. now I'm reading the book he gave me to learn the basics and I can't wait till I start working on the problem

hello dreamy; hope you’re well ❤️ we’re pretty similar in some aspects :o i love making gfx the most too since it’s something i wish to be good at + pairing fonts, figuring out colour palettes and executing ideas in the form of a graphics really is challenging but also super rewarding! i draw from time to time as well and i really love doing it, but since i rarely ever not draw from a reference or change things ever so slightly, it’s not something that tickles my imagination as much as a gfx would hehe since i usually have to readjust colourings or sometimes colour from scratch, i really like giffing too! but it’s probably the most mundane out of all of them since there’s nothing much different about the process dkfjdj oh, you’re absolutely fine! a good friend is like a seasoned professional when it comes to typos, and i’ve finally mastered decoding 90% of what she says… reading through your posts is like a calming breeze after talking to her—no missing words, random exclamations or extra letters 😂 but i think it’s a charming point for her too; i immediately know it’s her when i receive a text that butchered up! the whole biasing thing reminds me of a mutual of mine :D she’s always confused on who her bias is and ends up biasing the one member who is a complete opposite of her initial bias so we joke around by predicting who her bias will be once she starts getting into a new group. what’s your favourite hair colour on chan (and/or binnie haha) + what are some things that you associate with him? (i apologize for the late ask as i have been struggling with tumblr for the past couple of days ^^;) - 🌨
i'm gonna put a cut cause this is long
Hi my lil rain cloud, omg yes there’s just so much you can do with gfx, its a constant learning curve, and it’s so full of experimentation that its just always so fun. I’ve always been tempted to open up requests for gfx but its so hard to think of how to get ppl to send stuff that would actually inspire me. The best I’ve done is someone randomly sent me an ask for a gfx with Minho and they asked if it could be yellow and it ended up being a lot of fun to try to do, the request was so vague it was easy to be completely creative.  I also cannot draw unless I have a good reference, it’s like I can picture something so perfectly in my mind but the second my pen touches paper or tablet I suddenly can’t figure out how to proportion anything. But if I have something to constantly look at and compare myself to I can match it pretty well. But I agree gifs feel easy most of the time in comparison, unless I’m trying to recolor something nightmare inducing like purple stage lighting, or making things extra fancy by basically turning gifs into gfx. Giffing is a good hobby for watching tv or something, because it’s just a constant process so I can pay enough attention to the tv to know what’s happening while also cranking out sets, so I like that about it. I’m glad my grammar issues are at least legible, just lots of random commas that I hope are remotely ok lmao
Omg red is definitely my favorite hair color on Chris, like all time, I think the more ppl hated it the more I loved it, was obsessed with it. It just felt so punk, and then it faded to a pretty pink and I was happy all over again lmao. I also really loved the highlighted brown during double knot, that was such a gorgeous color and I think it really suited his skin tone a lot. I’m partial to blonde binnie, like ex or all in that was SUCH a gorgeous color on him, I do wish he got to do more fun colors tho, he’s said a few times he wants pink hair and I think changbin should get what he wants lol
Things I associate with Chris, omg does everything count or does that just really bring out the loser in me lmao but fr space, the ocean, oversized clothing, skateboarding, wolves obviously, the 🤙🏻 emoji, Pokemon, puppies, those thick silver chain necklaces lol, I will stop this will get embarrassing gdhgd

Learning to draw in 30 days? - Day 1
Hi again!
I think I found how to make "yesterday's" post appear as if I actually posted it yesterday? I'm not sure how that works or if it even worked in the first place, I can't for the life of me find where the date of a post is supposed to appear.
As I said, I only created this blog today, so...
================================================
Anyway, back to the drawing board!
Tumblr media
Here's what I've drawn today.
It might not seem like a lot, but it actually took me 30 minutes to do all of this. I wanted to have something I'm at least a bit satisfied with, so I had to redraw a lot of it.
================================================
I started by writing a little bit of japanese, not to flex or anything (ok fine, a little bit) but I was actually trying to write every character on the same line, and at the same size. I think it turned out okay? They actually seem to become smaller and smaller, but it's such a small difference I only noticed it now while writing the post, not on the fullscreen app.
Next, I tried these wave-looking things on both sides of the japanese characters. I found out it was really easy and even kinda "pleasant" to draw when they curve on the right.
But on the other side? Ugh... I tried these like five times and gave up. Now I understand why Krita has a "mirror canvas" button.
The "eeeeeeeeeeee" was me trying to draw a line while applying the same pressure all the way, another failure.
I always heard basic shapes is the go-to first exercise for beginners, so I did that. Circle, Square, Triangle, Pentagon, Hexagon. And then I feeled confident and tried the third dimension. The cube is kinda ok, even though I don't know why I did it so small, but the thing I'm particularly proud about is the pyramid. It feels like something straight out of a graphing calculator. So I then tried to draw the same one, but actually solid. It's a little bit crooked, but I guess that's good enough for now.
The XYZ-axis thing was supposed to help me for the pyramid, but I actually had my hand over it so I couldn't look at it. (yes, I'm stupid)
Writing actual letters with a tablet feels really weird. I feel like the cursor lags behind the pen, and that the stroke size is too big compared to the "font" size. But hey, at least that little guy is happy, it says it right here. I named him Drew, for obvious reasons.
And to finish, I wanted to have a sort of "frame" around it. I tried to make it the same width everywhere, but after failing for 10 litteral minutes, I gave up on that idea, and went with the weird-looking one.
================================================
Today's conclusion:
Drawing straight lines is definitely the thing I had the most trouble with, it would always curve, or I would overshoot it, either drawing too much or at the wrong angle.
Coloring feels nice somehow? I don't know how to explain it but I found myself coloring the 2D shapes and the pyramid without realizing it, and then I felt a little bit disappointed when I had no other shapes to color.
Tomorrow I'll probably start trying to draw humans, or at least a face, I'll see how it goes.
See you tomorrow! (for real this time)

The app is free and there is no premium version.ĭownload Snapseed: Android, iOS 3. Snapseed's excellent traditional tools and nondestructive editing make it one of the best photo editing apps for serious photographers who want or need to spend time fine-tuning their pictures. In addition, you can save a Stack of edits you've applied to a picture as a "Look," which can then be applied to other photos and shared with other users. Or you can use a Stacks brush to apply an effect to only a portion of your picture. Because the editing is nondestructive, you can always go into the Stack (the layers of edits) and adjust or eliminate any edit (including correcting misspelled text). We enjoyed just wandering through its range of exposure, color, masking and reshaping tools, brushes, and filters as we experimented with different settings.

As such, it has a full array of top-notch editing tools, including selective edit brushes, plus a nice collection of film-related filters (such as Lens Blur, Retrolux and Double Exposure).įor detail-oriented photographers, Snapseed can be not only fun but also addictive. Snapseed isn't for the casual user, but rather for serious photographers who want or need to spend time creating the best possible image while on the go. Snapseed (Image credit: Future/Sally Grotta) And it provides lots of creative control while keeping everything fun and lively.ĭownload PicsArt: Android, iOS 2. PicsArt offers a rich and highly accessible collection of photo-editing and collaging tools for consumer photographers. To turn them off - and to have the video editor, plus more tools, filters and content - you have to buy a premium subscription for $11.99 for a single month or $55.99/year. However, ads for PicsArt premium pop up frequently (and annoyingly) in the middle of editing processes. In-app tutorials are easy to follow, and challenges prompt users to submit their creations based on a specific type of edit or a theme winners are selected by community vote. You can use Remix Chat to share and collaboratively edit photos with the 150 million monthly users of PicsArt, or only with your friends. The full-featured camera module includes pre-capture effects and photo tools. In addition, you can quickly select or create fun stickers, combine your pictures into highly customizable collages, add artistic text and share. It provides lots of creative control, excellent image-editing tools and a large variety of attractive filters. PicsArt is our top pick of the best photo editing apps, because it's fun, easy to use, yet covers just about all the bases for consumer mobile photography. PicsArt (Image credit: Future/Sally Grotta) However, it's geared towards those with some knowledge of photo editing, so there's a steeper learning curve than some other products here.Īnd, while Google Photos' editing tools are on the skimpy side, it's second to none when it comes to backing up not just your photos, but all your videos, too, and syncing them across whatever device you may have, be it a PC, Mac, tablet, or smartphone.īe sure to check out all of our picks for the best photo editing apps. You can also create layered effects, which you can save and apply to multiple photos. If you're looking for something more comprehensive, Snapseed offers features such as nondestructive editing, curves, RAW image editing, white balance exposure, and a double exposure filter. Plus, the app has a social component, letting you chat with other users and share your photos with them. In addition, PicsArt has tutorials and a daily photo-editing challenge to help you brush up your skills, and a library of images you can edit yourself.

hello! do you have any advice for switching from traditional art to digital? (i recently ran out of supplies so im relegated to my computer lol) i hope youre having a good day!
i sure do!
first off i really recommend clip studio paint, but i also recommend u wait for it to go on sale. it goes 50% off a few times a year, so imo it’s worth waiting, but it also is usually on sale for only a few days so u have to stay on top of it. they usually announce on twitter etc. the tools don’t make the artist and obviously it doesn’t Really matter what program u end up settling on, i’ve just been really pleased with CSP and i wanted to recommend it
second: nothing that u can do with digital art programs/tools is cheating and it took me way too long to really internalize + understand that. copy-pasting stuff instead of redrawing it, using symmetry rulers, using transform/ctrl+T to stretch or squash slightly off anatomy instead of starting over -- when i was first getting into digital i A. didn’t know u could do this stuff and B. felt weirdly guilty doing it once i figured it out, as if i was a worse artist for using the tools that are literally built into the software or that it was lazy or dishonest to do so. that, it turns out, is bullshit. any drawing is just a constant series of decision-making and a lot of digital tools just help u make or retract or edit those decisions faster than traditional does. it’s not better or worse, it’s just different, and it’s worth ur time to figure out which of those differences are the most convenient and useful. this stuff exists for a reason! use it! save ur wrists and ur patience and ur time!
figure out file organization early, because it’s something u don’t have to deal with irt traditional art and so it probably won’t come naturally, but it also makes ur life harder to have a desktop swarming with wip files that are all titled “kjsrhrfgdhgj.psd” or whatever. some ppl sort into folders by date; for me it works better to sort by content (i.e. i have folders for tvrn stuff, patreon stuff, different fandoms, dnd/ttrpg stuff, “misc ocs” for characters i don’t draw much and “misc fandoms” for one-off fanart that doesn’t merit its own folder, etc etc; this is what makes it easiest for me to find stuff, but ur system might end up different.) i admittedly still name my files keysmashes if it’s personal stuff rather than work/commissions, but at least it’s all sorted into a category where i can quickly find it again anyway
also, u can hybridize traditional and digital! i frequently like my traditional pencil lines better than what i can do digitally, so i often scan them in, turn them into lineart, and color digitally (here’s a tutorial on how i prep that). but even if u don’t have a scanner, a carefully taken phone photo with high contrast can still be used the same way. i tend to lay my sketchbook flat on the floor in front of a window, squat down and hold my phone as level as i can while i’m taking the pic, and then i blast it in my phone’s built in gallery editor (highlights/shadows and contrast) before sending it to myself and doing the same thing w tone curve/levels in csp. it’s not perfect, but it’s presentable, and it can be a good way to ease urself in if ur feeling frustrated w the learning curve on digital draftsmanship.
oh, and this tip is really small but it’s ended up being rly helpful for me: resist the urge to zoom in way past 100% scale view just bc u can. if there are times where u absolutely need to, sure, whatever, but there’s no point in regularly tweaking tiny things pixel by pixel at 250% zoom bc nobody who looks at ur art is gonna see that and ur just bloating ur own time spent on things and creating unnecessary stress for urself!! if 100% zoom doesn’t give u the control u want, that may just mean u need to work larger to begin with.
set up a comfortable workspace with a Good chair. look up proper posture and try to stick to it. i know we’re all gay and it sucks to sit in a chair properly but otherwise ur gonna hurt urself. take even more frequent breaks than u do when drawing traditionally! screen bad!
also, if ur tablet has a way to calibrate pressure, try that out. a lot of them are set in a way where you have to press really hard to get full line width and over time it can really seriously strain ur wrist; u can’t manually set pressure in traditional tools (besides like. using softer lead i guess lmfao) but u can with tablet pens and u should try it, bc if u can use a lighter touch overall it really goes a long way towards preventing injury in the long term.
this is all the stuff that came to mind immediately; i’m sure there are tons of basics i haven’t covered, depending on how much of a transition this is for u, but there are a lot of tutorials out there written by ppl more patient and more educationally-oriented than myself so you’d be doing a better service to urself seeking those out than if i were to try to clumsily emulate them lol. good luck + have fun!

Porsche Museum Sets Reopening Date
The Porsche Museum will be allowed to open to visitors again on March 16, 2021. As a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus, and above all for the protection of visitors and staff, the Museum has been closed to the public in recent months. “We wanted to be able to offer our visitors an unforgettable experience right from day one, so we made the most of the time during the closure to bring forward changes that had been planned for this year. For instance, we changed some of the exhibits, undertook modernization work and installed new interactive stations,” explains Achim Stejskal, Director Heritage and Porsche Museum.
A brief look back: while nurseries and schools were closed, and many were working from home, the Museum reacted quickly with Porsche 4Kids and exciting online experiences for children on the website www.porsche4kids.com. An equally welcome change to the day-to-day routine of 2020 was provided by the digital live tours on the 43rd International Museum Day on 17 May, where two guides held tours of the exhibition. From July to November, the Porsche Museum presented the first all-electric sports car Taycan as part of the “Start to Drive Electric” exhibition series in the “DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum” in Berlin. “We always tried to make the best of the past year. We therefore reacted flexibly to current regulations and always acted in the best interests of our fans and staff. Despite all of the challenges, even during the crisis we found new opportunities, and we are delighted now about the reopening, which promises many surprises, and two special exhibitions in 2021,” says Achim Stejskal in summary.
Porsche design DNA extends across all model ranges – and that of the 911 goes all the way back to 1963. Visitors now have the opportunity to experience the design DNA interactively. The “Consistent” station features six car models on turntables, one derivative for each model line. The exhibit combines classic exhibition furniture with 3D printing methods and optical sensor technology. When a visitor approaches the interactive turntable, all cars stop their pause loop and turn to face the visitor. As soon as the turntable under the 911 moves, the other Porsche rotate in sync. Meanwhile, red illuminated lines appear on all six models, which provide a visual depiction of the Porsche design DNA, and which are explained in detail on the Multimedia Guide. Rarely has it been easier to visualize the relationships between the model ranges by means of design lines. The interactive exhibition furniture will now be an established fixture of the permanent exhibition – in addition to the 80 cars and more than 200 small exhibits.
Every visitor now has the option of using a newly designed Multimedia Guide, which contains extensive information about the individual cars in the exhibition. In addition to a new camera and the Android operating system, the device now also features a larger display with Full HD+ resolution. The Multimedia Guide 2.0 is intuitive to use, and a children’s version is also still available for young visitors. The guide reacts very quickly, which makes it fun to delve into the wide range of content and to learn all about the exhibits through dynamic storytelling. In order to ensure that the information was kept up-to-date, the team produced new audio content for 210 vehicles, since the exhibits in the permanent exhibition are changed on a regular basis. Audio commentaries in multiple languages were added to video clips and existing media. Visitors not only have access to information, audio content and video clips about the different vehicles, but also engine sounds and historic images at the touch of a button.
For those looking for a real racing driver experience, there is good news: with the Porsche Racing Simulators, Museum visitors can now experience the true feeling of motorsport. Visitors can play games and race in E-Sports competitions at all levels of difficulty according to the target group. An extremely exciting experience is guaranteed by the curved screen, which is specifically oriented towards the driver, and the steering wheel from the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The new Porsche Racing Simulator features high-performance pedals to make the response as direct and realistic as possible. The racing seat offers exceptional lateral support during cornering, while the D-BOX Motion System moves the driver in the dimensions sideways, up and down, forwards and backwards.
One of the biggest dreams of many Porsche enthusiasts is to take a seat in an actual Porsche. For visitors to the Museum, this dream can now come true – and they can even take home a souvenir photograph. Visitors who wish to have their photo taken simply take a seat in the car provided from the current model range. The photo booth was completely revamped during the closure. For example, there are now new backgrounds that place the visitor and car in different scenery by means of image cut-out technology. The desired backdrop as well as any photo filters are chosen at the collection station. You can then take a free print home with you and have the photo emailed to you so that you can share it on your own social media channels, for example.
To ensure that the exhibition is always showcased in the perfect light, the Museum team spent the past few months modernizing the ceiling lighting. The newly installed spotlights are an exclusive new development which consume only half as much energy while doubling the light quality. Moreover, heat emission has been reduced by around 50%, and the air conditioning requirement has also decreased. With a color rendering index of up to 96 − almost as high as that of sunlight, namely 100 − the new system allows the exhibits to shine more than ever before. All 560 motorized architectural luminaires are controlled with a single tablet. For individual events, the lights can be integrated into a staged show lighting scheme by means of a lighting control console. The “grandMA3” lighting control console is also used on some of the great stages of the world.
The new Corona Ordinance of the State of Baden-Württemberg of March 8, 2021 requires that visitors to the Porsche Museum register in advance, depending on the current incidence rate. When the 7-day incidence is between 50 and 100, advance registration is required.

Tablet 4 "The Space born"
EMERALD TABLET IV:
The Space Born
List ye, 0 man, to the voice of wisdom, list to the voice of Thoth, the Atlantean.
Freely I give to thee of my wisdom gathered from the time and space of this cycle; master of mysteries, Sun of the morning, Thoth the teacher of men, is of ALL.
Long time ago, I in my childhood, lay 'neath the stars on long-buried Atlantis, dreaming of mysteries far above men. Then in my heart grew there a great longing to conquer the pathway that led to the stars. Year after year, I sought after wisdom, seeking new knowledge, following the way, until at last my Soul, in great travail, broke from its bondage and bounded away. Free was I from the bondage of earthmen. Free from the body, I flashed through the night. Unlocked at last for me was the star-space. Free was I from the bondage of night. Now to the end of space sought I wisdom, far beyond knowledge of finite man.
Far into space, my Soul traveled freely into infinity's circle of light. Strange, beyond knowledge, were some of the planets, great and gigantic, beyond dreams of men. Yet found I Law, in all of its beauty, working through and among them as here among men.
Flashed forth my soul through infinity's beauty, far through space I flew with my thoughts.
Rested I there on a planet of beauty. Strains of harmony filled all the air. Shapes there were, moving in Order, great and majestic as stars in the night; mounting in harmony, ordered equilibrium, symbols of the Cosmic, like unto Law.
Many the stars I passed in my journey, many the races of men on their worlds; some reaching high as stars of the morning, some falling low in the blackness of night. Each and all of them struggling upward, gaining the heights and plumbing the depths, moving at times in realms of brightness, living through darkness, gaining the Light.
Know, 0 man, that Light is thy heritage. Know that darkness is only a veil. Sealed in thy heart is brightness eternal, waiting the moment of freedom to conquer, waiting to rend the veil of the night.
Some I found who had conquered the ether. Free of space were they while yet they were men. Using the force that is the foundation of ALL things, far in space constructed they a planet, drawn by the force that flows through the ALL; condensing, coalescing the ether into forms that grew as they willed. Outstripping in science, they, all of the races, mighty in wisdom, sons of the stars.
Long time I paused, watching their wisdom. Saw them create from out of the ether cities gigantic of rose and gold. Formed forth from the primal element, base of all matter, the ether far-flung.
Far in the past, they had conquered the ether, freed themselves from the bondage of toil; formed in their mind only a picture and swiftly created, it grew.
Forth then, my soul sped, throughout the Cosmos, seeing ever, new things and old; learning that man is truly space- born, a Sun of the Sun, a child of the stars.
Know ye, O man, whatever form ye inhabit, surely it is one with the stars. Thy bodies are nothing but planets revolving around their central suns. When ye have gained the light of all wisdom, free shall ye be to shine in the ether— one of the Suns that light outer darkness— one of the space-born grown into Light. Just as the stars in time lose their brilliance, light passing from them into the great source, so, O man, thy soul passes onward, leaving behind the darkness of night.
Formed forth ye, from the primal ether, filled with the brilliance that flows from the source, bound by the ether coalesced around, yet ever it flames until at last it is free. Lift up your flame from out of the darkness, fly from they night and ye shall be free.
Travelled I through the space-time, knowing my soul at last was set free, knowing that now might I pursue wisdom. Until at last, I passed to a plane, hidden from knowledge, known not to wisdom, extension beyond all that we know. Now, O man, when I had this knowing, happy my soul grew, for now I was free. Listen, ye space- born, list to my wisdom: know ye not that ye, too, will be free.
List ye again, 0 man, to my wisdom, that hearing, ye too, might live and be free. Not of the earth are ye— earthy, but child of the Infinite Cosmic Light.
Now, to ye, I give knowledge, freedom to walk in the path I have trod, showing ye truly how by my striving, I trod the path that leads to the stars.
Hark ye, 0 man, and know of thy bondage, know how to free thyself from the toils.
Out of the darkness shall ye rise upward, one with the Light and one with the stars. Follow ye ever the path of wisdom. Only by this can ye rise from below. Ever man's destiny leads him onward into the Curves of Infinity's ALL.
Know ye, 0 man, that all space is ordered. Only by Order are ye One with the ALL.
Order and balance are the Law of the Cosmos. Follow and ye shall be One with the ALL.
He who would follow the pathway of wisdom, open must be to the Flower of Life, extending his consciousness out of the darkness, flowing through time and space in the ALL.
Deep in the silence, first ye must linger until at last ye are free from desire, free from the longing to speak in the silence. Conquer by silence, the bondage of words. Abstaining from eating until ye have conquered desire for food, that is bondage of soul.
Then lie ye down in the darkness. Close ye your eyes from the rays of the Light.
Center thy soul-force in the place of thy consciousness, shaking it free from the bonds of the night. Place in thy mind-place the image thou desireth. Picture the place thou desireth to see. Vibrate back and forth with thy power. Loosen the soul from out of its night. Fiercely must thou shake with all of thy power until at last thy soul shall be free.
Mighty beyond words is the flame of the Cosmic, hanging in planes, unknown to man; mighty and balanced, moving in Order, music of harmonies, far beyond man.
Speaking with music, singing with color, flame from the beginning of Eternity's ALL.
Spark of the flame art thou, 0 my children, burning with color and living with music.
List to the voice and thou shalt be free.
Consciousness free is fused with the Cosmic, One with the Order and Law of the ALL.
Knew ye not man, that out of the darkness, Light shall flame forth, a symbol of ALL.
Pray ye this prayer for attaining of wisdom. Pray for the coming of Light to the ALL.
"Mighty Spirit of Light that shines through the Cosmos, draw my flame closer in harmony to thee. Lift up my fire from out of the darkness, magnet of fire that is One with the ALL.
Lift up my soul, thou mighty and potent. Child of the Light, turn not away. Draw me in power to melt in thy furnace; One with all things and all things in One, fire of the life-strain and One with the Brain."
When ye have freed thy soul from its bondage, know that for ye the darkness is gone. Ever through space ye may seek wisdom, bound not by fetters forged in flesh.
Onward and upward into the morning, free flash, 0 Soul, to the realms of Light.
Move thou in Order, move thou in Harmony, freely shalt move with the Children of Light.
Seek ye and know ye, my Key of Wisdom. Thus, 0 man, ye shall surely be free.

Nothing in Particular Update #1
Hello, hello!! It’s been a really long time since I’ve written an update for this story! (this is a real update btw, forget the “first” one I had) To be honest, I haven’t been able to work on this story as much as I would like, being busy with classes and... well just life in general. (what I mean by this is that Shadow and Bone was released on Netflix) But! I do have some excerpts I wanted to put out there as well as some overall changes to the story.
Before I start: here’s the actual link to the story synopsis/characters!
TAGLIST (ask to be +/-): @wannabeauthorzofija @a-completely-normal-girl @baguettethebooklover @corkytheguar @writeherewaiting @raenawrites
STORY CHANGES/IDEAS:
First off: I had to rewrite 30,000 words and basically turn it into 10,000. The first draft was icky, but I turned it into something I really enjoy! This is a sign that writing is always worth it!!
I added in a couple of characters! I was starting to feel like the story might not have been balanced enough. Luckily, the muse struck me and I created Mars and Theo! Mars is a lovely (and enigmatic) older woman that Ray meets at a bird sanctuary and Theo is a new friend of Lonan’s.
There wasn’t much action in the beginning of the story, so I wrote a confrontation between Jude’s friends and another person that Ray spies on. This is how she meets Jude, and I am in lovvve.
The timeline for the entire story might be a little bit longer than I intended! I went into this project thinking it might only take place over a month, but in order for Ray’s mental health journey to be realistic, I’m going to shoot for an entire school year (around six-seven months). Honestly, I’m just happy I get to write a Halloween scene. As for the word count total HAHA I have no clue what that will look like.
I think Lonan will be a bit of a back-burner character! At first, I was a little wary of this decision since he’s my favorite, but I think it would be very exciting to have Ray hype him up before he ever appears in the story. That way, the reader sort of starts to think about him in one way, yet he might be completely different when he finally shows up...??
Chapter titles are one of my favorite things about this story. Also! I am a huge fan of short chapters! They move the story right along.
I prefer to write slower and use other projects to balance out this one when I get a little tired of it. Over the last month or so, I’ve gotten really into short story writing again! This has been really helpful in working on my specificity and pretty prose. Even though the short stories don’t contribute to Nothing in Particular, I’ve been taking a lot of what I’m learning and applying it!
EXCERPTS (UNDER THE CUT)
CHAPTER ONE: THE SPY
#1
During the summer between my sophomore and junior year, Lonan Herrings packed me into his Dad’s repainted Chevrolet, left his name sharp on his mother’s tongue, and drove to New York City at six in the morning. For the first time since we’d become friends, jealousy weighed our silence. He buzzed across the highway, even though we knew his mother had no intention of finding us.
#2
“Which animal would I be,” he asked, “if I left tomorrow and lived in the forest?”
“Why would you want to do that?” I smiled even though I knew he was probably serious.
His shoulders squared and he looked out his window. Two men in the next car shouted at each other, their windows down. Something about a mortgage. “You would come with me, of course.” He turned to me. “Which animal gets along best with a doe?”
#3
I shut my eyes to snap the cold. It might have been the fact that, most times, his gentle voice pulled ragged words from his throat, as if he had just stepped out of the rain after standing in it for hours. It might have been the way he cupped the rim of a camera with humble demure. I was never afraid to tell him anything in the patience that bled from him. His eyes were milky blue and he wore an olive jacket covered in pins that kept strangers interested. Since he seemed like he felt out of place most times, I never did. We were a grade apart; our friendship bloomed late. So long as I had a friend at all, I didn’t care how we’d met.
“You would be a blue jay,” I decided. For only a second, I’d been worried that I offended him, until his mouth curved to one side and he laughed softly, as though he wasn’t sure he was allowed. His head hovered over the steering wheel. A patch of freckles absently creeped over the bridge of his nose like winter weeds.
This first chapter is a flashback to exactly a year before the second chapter takes place! After an argument with his mom, Lonan drives out of state with Ray. I plan for it to be all we see of Lonan (in the present) up until the halfway point of the story.
CHAPTER TWO: I WAS QUIET
#1
I was a firm believer that the best art was created when the artist was alone, angry, or depressed.
After Lonan secured his train ticket to New York, I was surprised to find that I became none of these things. We buried a time capsule, painted his walls cerulean, and drove two-hundred miles without a word to anyone. Some of my most colorful memories were unplanned in the beginning.
#2
Katherine Herrings’ bakery loitered over the coast of town, sheltered in pitch crags and shallow tide pools congested with cigarettes. I often ate lunch on the deck on my break. She was the only person I knew who – after everything her nephew had said – didn’t make him the first topic of our conversations.
An indie rock song that I recognized buzzed from a radio below me. I pulled my tablet screen down and pushed my chair out so the plastic legs kicked up and scratched the backs of my legs.  Slowly, I peered between my ankles, through the patio boards, and into the boat lodge below. Pumpkin-red hair plastered to my forehead in the heat that clung to the late days of September. Waves bubbled and crashed, peanut oil dripped from hot dog buns, and muffled gossip chirped like a family of cicadas. I bit my tongue at the bitter smoke that warped the wind.
#3
Jude laughed then, and her shoulders tipped, haughty. Waves hissed in her silence as the lights in the kitchen behind Katherine flickered. Her mouth opened slightly at the ring of dishes and laughter that danced with each other inside. A moment passed before she took a wide step back.
Together, her accomplices waltzed after her as she ran down the pavement, flecking sand until the night’s blue air gulped their outlines. Katherine beat a towel against the patio leg, then she slid and locked the door. Frogs jeered in the silence that pervaded the sea.
I whispered the name back to myself so I wouldn’t forget it. Jude Ahuja. I took a sip of ginger ale, and she buzzed on my lips.
The story cuts to Ray’s senior year of high school. Summer has just ended, Lonan has left for college, and her camera is broken. Jude is a bit like a character out of a film to her, and she wishes she could know more about her after witnessing a loud argument with Katherine Herrings, Lonan’s aunt.
CHAPTER THREE: PEOPLE-WATCHING
#1
Early into our friendship, I’d learned this patience. The first time he brought me to Sugarfell, he told me that all of the paths led back to the same place. As long as you played the game, you were guaranteed a prize. He didn’t speak much, but I knew he wasn’t a very good liar.
Less than an hour passed when I was met with silence. I crept up and down the same path four times. Each step sent a shock through my legs to my chest. The sun hadn’t risen to the highest point in the sky, still glimmering through tree branches in golden fractals, pulling on static darkness.
#2
“Are you crying?” he asked.
I shook my head fast. “No.” My voice barely reached a whisper. It was a lot deeper than normal.
He puckered his lips as though I had offended him. “But you were about to.”
“You said that all the paths lead back to one another.” I stood up from the jagged stump and shuffled through the leaves until the tips of our shoes were inches apart. “I knew you’d come back. And you did.”
#3
When I turned back, sore curiosity teased the emerald in Lonan’s eyes.
“Do you ever people-watch?” he asked softly.
This chapter is another really short chapter that I’m ultimately not sure I’m going to keep! I sort of included it by accident while Ray was riding her bike to the forest, but I ended up really liking it as a bridge into the next scene. Hopefully, I find I way to make it fit!!
CHAPTER FOUR: SUGAR-COATED
#1
Years with Lonan had prepared me for being alone. If you spend any long amount of time with someone, you’ll become a thief to their behaviors. Lonan observed too much. If I stared long enough, trees began to replace all of the people we’d ever seen. Oaks with roots that serpentined the ground like children splashing in the bay, pines with needles like spindly old hands, maples with hollows like watchful eyes.
#2
I did remember, but I couldn’t then. Blood gushed too close to his eyelid and dripped down his cheek like tears. There was a grace period in my life – likely when I was a newborn – when I couldn’t picture what my blood would look like on the light side of my skin.
And this is where I’ll leave off on the excerpts for now! I’ve been really focused on taking my time and setting things up before the next chapter, which is going to have lots more action in it. Things are going to start picking up again, so I’m really excited for that!
Thanks for reading if you made it this far :)

As you’re learning, do you have any tips you could either to other people trying to improve their drawing skills?
1. Look shit up. This is such big advice it’s actually a pet peeve of mine. Like, I see people talking on Tumblr or Discord or Facebook or whatever and I’m just like “Google it, bro”.You have infinite information at your fingertips. There are so, so many tutorials out there. Google shit.
2. Make experienced friends. Get involved in your community. People learn from each other. Get involved, talk to people, reblog their shit, just, like, participate so you can make friends with talented folks who will often graciously offer you advice and assistance when your Googling fails.
3. Be critical. Yeah, uh, I still don’t know why people are afraid of this, but I 100% credit a huge part of any given success to the fact that I look at how people fuck up and go “Ooh, yeah, not gonna do that”. Don’t just learn from your mistake - learn from other people’s. Look at art and analyze it and don’t just see the successes, look at the failures.
And do that with your own art too. Liiike...
Tumblr media
Second I finished this shit I was like - “Okay, you’re still struggling with drawing circles on the eyes. Your hand will grow steadier with time. On the hand, the curve of it doesn’t differentiate between the index finger and palm well enough. The hips are uneven and awkward.” etc. Best work I’ve done so far for sure, but I’m not gonna get better if I don’t pay attention to the specifics of where I fell flat.
4. Don’t be afraid to fuck up. Do stupid shit. Do weird shit. Experimentation is how you improve. @suf-fering is having a dtiys contest with this image: https://suf-fering.tumblr.com/post/619646483520684032/oops-i-forgot-to-post-this-here-im-hosting-a
I HAVE HER PERMISSION FOR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING.
I traced her art. It was gonna be a joke, honestly. We like to mess around, and I thought it would be funny to trace her art and do some stupid stuff. In this case, the terrible joke was that Steven and Connie were at a rave.
Tumblr media
Couple things with this though - The first was that because I was so unafraid to mess up, I did really, really confident lines. I didn’t bother cleaning it up, but following her great art and knowing that it wasn’t supposed to be serious, I completely loosened up, made the fast movements everyone had been insisting on, and had incredibly stable lines.
Next was that, well, I was just more confident and felt better after tracing, because I came away with something that looked good. Yeah, I didn’t do it. But it’s like training wheels on a bike. Sometimes it’s better to “cheat” and give yourself a boost rather than do it the hard way and fall flat on your face. BUT DON’T POST IF YOU TRACE. Practice is all well and good, and I did feel pretty great that I managed to do better, but this is not my art. Or, at the very least, this is my edit of someone’s art, and it would be rude, mean and art theft if I was posting this without suffering’s permission and with the clear disclaimer that this is traced.
And, finally, by being stupid and being like “what are rave colors?” I ended up finding some cool techniques. I like the vibrancy of the colors I chose, I liked the places the crashed, and by choosing a wild palette, there’s actually a cool consistency that makes it pleasing to look at.
And the lighting isn’t a filter - it’s the spray paint tool on another layer, and I liked how it turned out, so I learned how to do some neat lighting tricks too.
I’m not going to be a professional artist. I’m not going to freehand anything as good as a lot of my friends anytime soon. But I have a lot of fun, and I think that I’m improving as fast as I am because of everything I listed here.
Four months ago I used a tablet for the first time and drew this:
Tumblr media
So, all things considered, I’m pretty fucking happy with how far I’ve come!

Hello! May I ask how you draw? I'm currently learning how to myself and would be highly interested into a step to step process by you! Like from sketch to the done thing (no color necessary)
Hello there!
I dunno how I feel about showing how I work/giving advice to someone who’s learning (and I say it as a pro artist who went through years of traditional art education) because when I do the illustrations you see here on my tumblr I BREAK THE RULES you’d learn though life drawing routine, and give in to bad habits, and my methods are rather unplanned and chaotic which makes it difficult to pinpoint significant stages. But I used my portable potato to take some photos during working on my last piece, so I’ll throw it here with a bit of an explanation of what’s going on.
Before I begin - and because you’re about to look at a mess of a WIP - I’d like to give you some general advice that generally makes life easier when you draw (again, things that I learned in traditional arts education - another artist might advise you the complete opposite, dunno!)
Work holistically. Forget them satisfying-to-look-at clips on instagram showing someone produce a hyperrealistic portrait starting from an eye, with each and every element emerging being finished before they proceed to another part. It takes a lot of talent, yes, but these are ppl redrawing a photo in a kind of a mechanical manner. Most artists don’t work this way. Especially if you’re working without a reference, or if you’re doing a life drawing - your process will be layering and changing and finding what works best to give an impression of what you’re drawing rather than reproduce the exact image, and your artwork is likely to look messy most of the time. That said: don’t start with the details. Don’t spend too much time on a particular part while neglecting others. Your goal is to keep the whole piece at the same level of ‘finished’ (even though it’s unfinished - do I make sense?) before you’re confident that everything is where it should be and proceed to the details. So sketch out the composition first. See how things fit, what’s the dynamics. You’ll save yourself from limbs sticking out from the frame, odd proportions etc etc.
Because it’s a game of relationships between different parts of the picture/scene. I ask you not to worry about finishing a single element before laying out the rest because you’ll find that said element will look different once the other part appears! For instance - you might think that the colour you picked for a character’s hair is already very dark. But once you’re done with the night sky background, you’ll find that it’s in fact too light, and doesn’t work well with the cold palette. You’ll have to revisit different parts of the image as you go to balance these relationships and make the picture work as a whole.
Give an impression of something being there without actually drawing it ‘properly’- because details are hard, mate. You’ll see that my lineart usually has hardly any, and my colouring is large unrefined stains, but the finished thing looks convincing. Like, fuck, I can never focus on how Crowley’s eyes are really shaped. So I just turn them into large glowing yellow ellipses crossed by a line, and heard no protests so far.
Don’t panic if you messed up (you probably didn’t anyway). It might turn out to be a completely unnoticeable mistake - because, remember, things work together to balance each other, so another finished off prominent element will probably drown that badly placed line that looked so visible and out of place a second ago.
It might not look good before it’s finished. I’m mostly immune to it after years of drawing, and my recent illustrations all follow a specific method (ykno, my sunset glow effects and all that) so I can kinda predict the next stage. But I do my linearts on a specially picked crap paper, I don’t bother erasing the smudged graphite, and it looks messy af until I make the background white in Photoshop. Conclusion: you might have a moment of doubt as you work through a piece, but try to break through it - I often suddenly start to like what I cursed a minute before! - and try to finish it even if it’s meant to be bad. This way, looking through your past pieces, you’ll see the progress. And trust me, I can’t even look at my art from literally three months ago. It’s normal.
Now, pics! The sketches are paler in real life, but I increased the contrast a little so you can see something.
1. Laying out the composition!
I wanted to just show them kissing, but I got carried away due to some Art Nouveau inspiration. As you might have noticed, most of my illustrations are quite self-contained (ykno - they look like a sticker on a plain background). So I wanted a tight swirl bordered by Aziraphale’s wings creating a sort of rounded, yin-yang like bubble around them. Consequently I made the whole composition revolve around their heads.
Tumblr media
2. Adding more details to the sketch. It’s messy af. It will be messy until I’m done. It’s fine.
Tumblr media
3. These are the fineliners I use for the linearts! They are made by Uni-ball and come in light and dark grey. I also sometimes use the guy on the left - ‘Touch’ sign pen by Pentel, when I want more brush-like, wider strokes. I work in grey because when I scan it and do my usual boring trick with sunlight highlights - which is an Overlay mode layer in Photoshop - the highlights ‘burn out’ the lines too and make them vanish a little, and the lighting effect gets more striking. I also like to use the light grey ones to make something look pencil-y without actually using pencil, because pencil fucking smudges.
Tumblr media
4. It smudges! So because I am right handed, I start inking from the right hand side, no matter how tempted I am to do their faces first.
Tumblr media
5. You can see the composition directions here. I made it intuitively, but ofc some ppl actually use grids etc to lay out their drawings.
Tumblr media
6. See how pale ans thin the lineart was at first? I kept adjusting it as new inked parts were appearing. It starts to look nice and consistent now!
Tumblr media
7. Finished lineart? There are some mistakes which I later corrected in PS. Notice that Aziraphale’s face has hardly any details on it - I tried to make the drawing suggest his expression rather than risk overdoing it.
Tumblr media
8. Photoshop time!! You can totally do what I did here even if you don’t have a graphic tablet. I used Curves tool to enhance the lineart, then Quick Selection Tool to select the background around around my sticker-like piece and filled it white (on a new layer ofc). I keep this white layer on top of the layer order so it works as a mask as I colour. I decided I did not like the hatching shading underneath Aziraphale’s halo, so I erased it with a Stamp tool (because I wanna keep the textured grey fill my crap paper naturally gives me!). It’s done roughly but won’t be visible once the thing is coloured.
Tumblr media
9. And the reason why I keep the grey shade instead of easily getting rid of it by using Curves/Levels is because when I set this layer to Multiply mode and colour underneath, it gives me this nice desaturated look like from an old cheap paper comic page. It works as a natural filter! But of course I can’t do bright colours this way, so all my glowing highlights happen ABOVE the lineart layer - on a separate layer in Overlay mode!
Tumblr media
Finished thing here!

A/N This isn’t a part of any particular AU, but the idea came to me while listening to one of my playlists and somehow this storyline came about, LOL. It will be a short miniseries because somehow it blossomed in size the more I went into it. I changed Nadia’s problems with Eros for this and made her and Rachel Hunt old college roommates. Without further ado, let's see if Thomas Hunt's sister, Rachel, knows what she is doing when she sets him up on a blind date. Maxwell also plans his hand at matchmaking once more. He was awfully successful with Riley and Liam. And what are plans without a few troublemakers in the mix?

part 2
A Not So Perfect Match (Part 1)
Upper East Side, New York, Friday the 12th...
"Rachel!" Nadia squealed before squeezing her surprise visitor in a tight hug.
"I've missed you too." Rachel patted her back. Her eyes widened at the top of her old friend’s once striking, jet black hair. “You colored your hair?!”
“Yeah.” Nadia pushed her now caramel hair back over her shoulders. “I needed a change.” Her brow furrowed with this unexpected visit. "What are you doing in New York?"
"I came to check on you." She replied. “You didn’t sound right when we last talked.”
The petite artist teared up some at the sweet gesture. "You shouldn't have come all this way. I'm fine."
"Nadia." Rachel grasped her friend's shoulders. "I lived with you for four years in college. I think after you comforted me during my crying jag over that moron, Nelson, who stood me up our freshman year, we are way past having to fake being fine."
Nadia's overly bright smile dimmed. "Thank God. I didn't think I could continue acting happy." Her eyebrows drew together with worry. "Not that I'm not thrilled to see you again, it's just..." She took a deep breath. "It's just that I'm tired."
Rachel waited silently for her to elaborate.
Nadia groaned, thoroughly disgusted with herself. "I know when we last talked, I told you about the Eros debacle."
"Yes." Rachel moved her hand in an impatient motion to get her to continue.
"Well, ever since Damien found out the dating service was actually for people who wanted to cheat on their significant others and that it had someone perfectly matched for me, I have been too scared to try dating again.."
"Why?"
"Because!" Nadia practically exploded off the couch. "Each guy I think is the one turns out to be my worst nightmare. They either cheat, or stalk me, or take my left shoes, or--"
"Whoa. Back up. Who took your left shoes?!" Rachel glanced down at her own footwear, wondering why a man would do such a thing.
"Evan." Nadia reminded her. "Remember? Junior year, he broke into our room and took two left shoes from my closet."
Rachel's eyes narrowed as she thought back. "I completely forgot about that."
"I wish I could." Nadia tilted her head for her friend to follow. "I've recently made a study of my bad boyfriends."
She led her into the second bedroom of her apartment. There was a large rolling bulletin board covered in pictures of various men. Multicolored strands of yarn went from one ex to another.
"Wow." Rachel stepped forward and read the notes written in glitter gel pens and such her friend had posted with each one. "Nadia, perhaps--"
"Look, I know it's crazy and I'm crazy for going through with making this." Nadia's eyes filled with tears. "I have to know why I'm a jerk magnet."
"You're not a jerk magnet." Rachel rolled her eyes. "You have simply had a run of bad luck."
"It isn't a run! It's years of this." Nadia pointed out.
The evidence on the board was damning. It did seem that somehow the jerks of the world latched on to Nadia.
"You need a change." Rachel decided. "Pack your bags. You're coming with me to California."
"What?" Nadia exclaimed. "Rachel, I can't just--"
"Yes, you can." Rachel went to Nadia's room and began to go through her clothes. "We will go shopping once there. But for the time being, these will do." She pulled out several outfits and laid them on the bed. "I'm going to introduce you to someone that I believe is perfect for you."
"Who?" Nadia asked. An excited trepidation overcame her.
Could the perfect guy be waiting for her in Hollywood?
"My brother." Rachel declared. "Like you, Thomas hasn't had the best of luck with dating." A smile slowly formed as she imagined one of her best friends marrying her only brother. And it would all be because of her brilliant matchmaking.
"Rach, I don't know." Nadia hedged. "Didn't you say he is," she hesitated, "kind of grumpy?"
"He definitely is." Rachel searched for a suitcase. "And that's why I think you would be perfect for him. He needs someone sweet."
"I'm not so sure it will work out. You said he has a quick temper. I do too and--"
"You both have an artistic temperament." Rachel pointed out. "While yours is on canvas, his is film." She continued to pack Nadia's bags. "I can't wait for you two to finally meet."
When she noticed her friend trying to think of a way out of going, she decided to use their new current obsession. They had spent numerous hours on the phone talking about their favorite book.
"Maxwell Beaumont is bringing everyone in The Royal Romance to Hollywood in a few days."
"What?!" Nadia squealed. "Do you think we could meet them?!"
"Tommy Phelps invited my brother to a party for the nobles." Rachel laughed when Nadia dramatically flopped on her bed. "I talked Thomas into taking me. If you come, he can take us both."
And then you'll fall in love with each other, she thought.
"Why didn't you lead with that?!" Nadia broke into a wide smile. “I would love to go to California."

A private jet, a few hours east of Hollywood...
"Excited?" Maxwell asked.
"Sorry?" Amanda removed her ear buds. "Did you say something?"
"Are you excited?" Maxwell repeated.
"About going to Hollywood? Of course." Amanda slipped her ear buds back in, assuming the conversation over.
He yanked out the right one.
"I'm sorry, were you not finished?" She set her kindle down.
"Amanda, you're about to meet everyone who's playing your favorite people in the world!" He took her by her shoulders and playfully shook her. "How can you sit there calmly?"
She laughed at his antics. "I am curious who the director picked to play you."
"I'll give you a hint." His dimples deepened. "Your favorite actor is playing yours truly."
"No!" Amanda's eyes widened. "Are you saying that Ryan Summers is playing you? Ryan I am too handsome to be true Summers?"
He nodded, finally content at having worked her into an excited frenzy.
"I love his movies." Amanda sighed. "Any chance you added a hidden romance for you in the script?" Her lips curved in a teasing smile. "I would be willing to work for free to share a love scene or two with him."
"Oh really?" Maxwell teased. "I guess it's a good thing I told him that if he wanted to learn more about me, then he should spend time with you."
"Shut up!" Amanda hit his arm. "You didn't!? Did you?"
"I did." He winked at her. "Perhaps you can also get to know him."
Amanda fanned herself with her tablet. "I can't imagine talking to him much less spending time with him."
"Breathe." Maxwell repeated. "In and out."
"This is going to be the best trip ever." She declared.

Hollywood, Sunday the 14th...
"Come in." Thomas yelled out when he heard the persistent knock.
Rachel opened the door to his apartment. "Busy?"
He finished packing a stack of books in a crate. "Only with getting the last of my things on the moving truck."
"Good thing I came ready to help.” Rachel rolled up her sleeves.
"Thank you." He handed her a box and motioned toward the awards case. "Bubble wrap is over there."
"This is it for the bathroom." Ryan came around the corner. "And I managed to-- Rachel!"
She smiled at him over her shoulder. "Hello Ryan."
His slow, suggestive smile that made his horde of fans shiver formed. "I didn't know you were stopping by. I would have dressed up."
Thomas eyed the two silently.
"I like to surprise my brother. Keeps him tethered to the real world." She teased.
Thomas did not bother to respond to her quip as he hefted a box downstairs.
Ryan set his own box down and helped Rachel reach one of the awards on a top shelf.
"I heard you were in New York." He helped her wrap one of the SAG Awards.
"I was."
He paused waiting on her to say why she went there.
She glanced up at him. "I went to talk a friend of mine into coming here for a visit."
"A friend, huh?" His smile grew at the thought of her having a secret love. "Is this a close friend?"
"Very close." Rachel replied.
"Really?" Ryan turned away from her and picked up a box to take downstairs.
"I think she is perfect for Thomas." Rachel added when he stepped out the door.
Ryan slowly backed up. "Who's perfect for Thomas?"
"My friend in New York. Nadia." She explained. "I intend to put them together."
Ryan thought about the numerous ways this could end badly for all parties involved yet wisely kept it to himself. "When do I get to meet her?"
"You don't. Not until she meets Thomas." Rachel's nose crinkled. "You're too handsome."
His brow furrowed. "And this is bad?"
"Yes." Rachel faced him with her hands on her hips. "I can't tell you how many women have told me that you blind everyone with your looks and charm. I need Nadia to truly see Thomas. Once that is done, then you can meet her."
Ryan casually leaned against the doorframe. "Do I blind you?"
She rolled her eyes. "Not at all. I'm immune to the charms of actors and models. One of the perks to having Thomas as a brother." She cut her eyes to him. "Why do you ask?"
"Just curious." He winked at her and said over his shoulder. "I like to know who will let me get away with anything by just flashing a smile."
She shook her head in exasperation while packing the rest of Thomas' awards away.
Her brother returned, frowning slightly at the few items that were left.
"Thomas?"
"Hmm?"
"Moving into your home seems like a new beginning, doesn't it?" She asked, attempting to sound innocent.
Perhaps a little too innocently.
His eyes narrowed. "What are you getting at?"
"Nothing." She kept her back to him. "Just that life itself can change when one moves out of their comfort zone."
"I'm moving to a home I personally designed as my comfort zone." He grumbled.
She grit her teeth at how obtuse he could be sometimes. "I meant that you will have a place where new memories can be made without the stigma of the old."
He stopped packing and folded his arms. "What new memories are you talking about?"
"Well," she shrugged a shoulder. "You'll be making new movies. Throwing parties--"
"I'm not throwing parties."
"New romance." She continued, pretending he had not interrupted.
"I'm not interested." He informed her.
"You will be when you meet the right person." She set the last of his awards in the box. "Thomas, you built a home with eight bedrooms."
"And?"
"And what better way to fill them than with a family!" She exclaimed.
"Rachel, I built those for visitors. Plus, I am using some of those rooms for--"
"When do you invite people to stay with you?" She snapped. "And don't you dare say you are using them for your movie paraphernalia."
Thomas ran his hands over his face. "Rachel, I appreciate your concern, but I am perfectly content as a bachelor. I don't have to worry about whether or not I am focusing on a relationship like I should when a new film comes my way. The unnecessary drama of trying to figure out how serious we should be or--"
"That's why I have the perfect person for you!"
His eyes widened. "What?"
"You mean, who." She smiled at him. "I found someone who understands getting swept away with artistic endeavors."
"Rachel, you are not setting me up with someone." He stated firmly.
"Yes, I am." She argued. "Nadia is the one for you."
"Nadia?" Thomas' frown firmed as he tried to recall how he knew that name. "Your old roommate? The one you claimed was deeply in love with love?"
"That was nearly ten years ago." Rachel waved her hand dismissively. "She's mellowed some."
"No." He snapped. "Thank you for what I assume is a loving gesture on your part, but I am not interested."
"You're meeting her Thursday night for dinner at La Boucherie ." Rachel informed him. "Then escorting us next Friday to The Royal Romance party." She hefted her box and walked out the door, yelling, "Don't even think of getting out of it!"
Ryan dodged her on his way back inside. "What's wrong with Rachel?"
"She set me up on a blind date." Thomas replied bitterly. "One I neither asked for nor wanted."

The Royal Romance movie set, Tuesday the 16th...
"Here's the ballroom where we have the big BOOM" Tommy Phelps moved his hands like a bomb blowing up.
"But the night when Liam was crowned King was when the photos happened." Riley pointed out. "Not the night when the Sons of the Earth attacked."
"Love how you're thinking." Tommy said. "But we thought fireworks exploding during that big reveal of you and Tariq would really hammer home how little control you had."
"That moment was fraught with turmoil." Liam argued. "I had to immediately come up with a way to keep Riley safe while also trying to find a way to be with her." He looked about the ballroom. "I don't think fireworks do justice to that heartbreaking moment."
He shifted his daughter in his arms when she grunted.
Riley slipped her arm around him. She alone knew how he still suffered from that one night's decision. To this day, he apologized for being unable to choose her in that moment.
While the director continued to discuss options with the royal couple, Maxwell led the others to meet their actors.
"And this is Ryan Summers, aka me." Maxwell cocked his head to the side as he studied the man. "It's like looking in a mirror."
"I don't think you know what a mirror is." Drake commented.
"See." Seth pointed out. "This is what I am talking about. I need to know how you use your snark when talking to others."
"I still can't believe they chose Seth Levine for Drake." Amanda whispered to Olivia. "He is nothing like him."
Olivia nodded before turning her attention to the actress cast as her. "They made the right choice for me. Victoria Fontaine is known for not taking crap from anyone."
The normally blonde beauty had her hair the exact shade of Olivia's rich red locks. She was in the midst of training with a pair of daggers.
"She's got potential." Olivia muttered. When she noticed Amanda's lack of comment, she turned to see what held her attention.
"Really Amanda?" She teased. "You're drooling."
She quickly touched the corner of her dry parted lips before scowling. "Look at him!" She whispered. "He's more handsome than I expected."
"I guess Ryan is not too hard on the eyes." Olivia conceded.
"Amanda!" Maxwell motioned for her to come over. "I need you to tell Ryan how wonderful I am."
She steeled herself and hoped she didn't succumb to giggling like an idiot when he spoke to her.
Ryan held his hand out. "So this is the other friend who only knew of circumstances through phone calls?"
"That's me." Amanda could feel her skin flush from her neck to the tips of her ears. "I was away caring for my late uncle during Liam's search."
Maxwell grinned at her hand remaining in Ryan's. "She was the voice of reason whenever I called in a panic. If anyone can tell you what I went through during my times alone, it is the duchess I would call at three in the morning for encouragement."
"You won’t mind my pestering you?" Ryan's smile flashed causing her cheeks to turn darker.
"Not at all." She replied, smiling shyly back.
"Sounds like you two could use that dinner reservation I won't be able to make." Maxwell interjected. "Perfect opportunity to talk about me."
"What?" Amanda turned abruptly toward him. Her hand slipped from Ryan's grasp.
"Thursday night, seven o'clock. My agent unfortunately scheduled a last-minute book signing for that night. " Maxwell quirked an eyebrow at Ryan. "Any chance you could take her to dinner at La Boucherie?"
"Maxwell--" her voice almost squeaked with embarrassment. "I... I’m sure Ryan has...we can't..."
"Sure." Ryan responded. "I'll come by and pick you up." He smiled once more at Amanda as he left the two to speak to Tommy.
She pinched Maxwell underneath his arm.
"Ow!" He rubbed the spot. "What was that for."
"Did you just set me up with Ryan Summers?" Amanda hissed.
"Are you asking if I concocted a plan to have one of my best friends go to a romantic dinner for two with the one actor she gasped over when he removed his shirt during a love scene?" He countered.
She dropped her head in her hands. "Maxwell!"
"You're welcome." His sing song voice taunted her as he left her alone.
****************
"Here you go Chris." Addison helped him into another jacket. "Better?" She asked when he moved his arms.
"Much better." He replied. "Thanks Addison."
She smiled and went to check on Cassandra's ballgown, pausing when she overheard one of the nobles talking about someone she knew well.
"I still think Thomas Hunt should have directed this." The dark-haired duchess muttered behind her cup.
"You sure it isn't your crush on him making you say that?" Asked the guy that was clearly best friends with the king.
Addison ducked behind a column to continue to eavesdrop. She peeked around it to see how the duchess looked when responding.
"Just because I've always found him attractive doesn't mean he isn't a talented director. When I think of all he could have done with this story--" she smacked the man's arm.
"Amanda, what was that for?!" He asked.
"You know what you were doing, Drake Walker." She wagged a finger at him. “I don’t make that expression whenever I talk about him.”
"Would you have been able to concentrate on the tour if Hunt was directing?" Drake teased.
Amanda's cheeks turned red. "I highly doubt it." She lowered her eyes. "I was secretly hoping we could still meet him." She looked around the set. "Seems unlikely now."
"You've got a few weeks to casually bump into him." Drake countered, nudging her side. "Just because you haven't seen him after a day or so in Hollywood, doesn't mean you won't."
Addison studied the noble closely. She might work for Thomas, she thought. Then the next words she overheard caused her to decide then and there to set Thomas up with this lady.
"I guess we better rejoin the others. Tommy probably has this whole soundstage rigged to blowup like every other movie he has directed." Amanda grumbled. "Would it kill him to stick to the heartache and romance of Liam and Riley's story?"
Addison quickly pulled her phone out and sent a quick text.
Holly. I found her.

Later that afternoon, The Beverly Wiltshire...
Nadia closed her eyes and sank deeper into the pool, sighing at how wonderful it felt. She tilted her head back, enjoying the sensation of the cool water mixed with the warmth of the sun.
She might have to visit California more often.
She sat up with a start, spluttering at the wave of water that crashed over her.
"I'm so sorry! You okay? I tripped and almost landed on you. It was either splashing you or drowning you."
She rubbed her eyes and blinked at the man nearly tripping over his words with the speed he was speaking. A pair of startling blue eyes were narrowed in concern at her silence.
Her lips parted at the face that slowly came into focus. The very face that graced the cover of the book she kept on her nightstand sheepishly smiled at her.
"I hope I didn't hurt you." He said, dimples deepening.
"I'm fine." She managed to say, smiling at him. "Besides, if I didn't want to get wet, I shouldn't have come to the pool."
His smile grew. "I've never understood people who want to just lay out by water. Who can resist how great it is to swim?"
"Exactly!" She exclaimed. "I'm usually the one having to drag my best friend into the water. He thinks he is too old to play in the pool."
Maxwell shook his head in sympathy. "It takes special people to be friends with such a person. We have to work so much harder to make sure they have fun."
"That's what I always say!" Nadia covered her mouth at how loud her words were. She was so excited to be talking to the Maxwell Beaumont that she lost all volume control.
He smiled and held his hand out. "I'm Maxwell by the way."
"I know." She bounced a little in the water with meeting him on her first day out. "I am your biggest fan! Well, me and Rachel are. I can't tell you how much I LOVE your book!"
Maxwell couldn't stop smiling. "I love meeting a fan."
Her bouncing began to make waves. "Fan hardly describes it. Not that I'm like obsessed with you or anything." She quickly amended. "I've had a stalker fan before. Not. Fun. At. All. Huge fan of your work is a little more appropriate."
His smile dimmed. "You had a stalker?" His eyes swept over her. "I wish I had Amanda here. She could tell me what movie I must have seen you in."
Nadia laughed and shook her head. "I doubt it. I've never done any acting. I'm an artist." She explained moving her hand as if it held a brush. "Paints and canvas."
He playfully wiped his brow in relief. "Thank goodness. I was about to call a doctor to check me over for a head injury if I had forgotten someone like you."
Her cheeks flushed. "I--that's so--thank you." She clasped her hands together to keep from fidgeting. "If you are ever in New York, you'll have to come by my gallery."
"New York huh?" His eyes held hers. "I should have known. After meeting Riley there, I've learned that amazing women come from that city."
Nadia thought she might melt right then and there.
He moved a little closer to her. "Nadia, I don't suppose--"
"Maxwell!" Hana called out. "There you are!" She sent a brief smile toward Nadia. "Sorry to interrupt but Tommy's been trying to get a hold of you. He needs to discuss another scene he thinks needs to be amped up."
"Be right there." His smile disappeared at having to leave. "It was nice meeting you Nadia."
"Best day ever." She replied.
He fought his grin. "Any chance you'll be staying in Hollywood for a while."
"A couple of weeks." She replied.
"Here? At the hotel?" He pushed himself out of the pool.
She became speechless at the sight of him shirtless and dripping wet. "Um. Hmm? Yeah."
He quickly dried off. "Then I hope to splash you again." He winked at her and hurried off.
She watched him until he went back inside before ducking under the water. She let out a squeal once under then popped back to the surface.
Nadia scrambled out of the pool and reached for her phone. "Rach? I JUST MET MAXWELL BEAUMONT!"
*****************
Later that night at The Ivy...
At a table for four out on the back patio, Holly waved to get her friend’s attention.
"Hey guys." Addison pulled a chair out and collapsed. "I needed this."
Steve chuckled at her actions. "Hard day?"
"Hard barely covers it." She grumbled. "With all the fireworks and explosions, I'm going to have to find flame retardant material to make ballgowns out of."
"Could be worse." Holly countered. "You could be helping Thomas move into his new home."
Steve grimaced at the reminder of his current assignment. "Or trying to draw up the right plans for his guest house." He rubbed his temple. "I somehow convinced myself that it would go easier after drawing up blueprints for his dream home." He downed his cocktail. "I've never been more wrong."
"He is a demanding, highly detailed man." Holly muttered. "Turns out great on film but is such a pain to work with."
"At least with Thomas, there aren't any surprises." Addison countered. "I'd willingly trade spots right now for a break from Tommy."
"Don't worry. You'll soon be back where you belong." Holly lifted her menu and grinned. "Tortured with the rest of us as we deal with Mr. Hunt's next vision."
"This is the last time I volunteer to work under Tommy." Addison swore.
Steve leaned closer and lifted a blonde lock of her hair. "Addison? Did you get burned?"
She glanced down and let out a shrill shriek. "MY HAIR!"
Holly coughed to cover her laughter. "I'm so sorry." Tears fell with her suppressed laughter. "I'm not laughing about what happened, just your reaction."
Addison dropped her head on the table with a loud thunk. "I need drinks."
"On it." Steve got their waiter's attention and ordered her favorite.
She sighed and resumed sitting up straight. "Thanks."
"Cheer up." Holly nudged her. "We can get your hair cut in a cute style before Matt gets back in town."
"I know." She mumbled.
Steve and Holly shared a glance at their friend’s unusual low spirits. "So tell us about this woman you found for Thomas."
Steve quirked an eyebrow. "I'm curious how you plan on getting them together. He's already trying to get out of one blind date."
"Blind date?" Addison narrowed her eyes. "But I found the perfect one! Who set him up?"
"Rachel." Holly explained. "With an old roommate of hers."
"She's an artist from New York." Steve added.
"No. Nope. She will not be his perfect match. The lady from Cordonia will." Addison argued. "And I think I know how to get them to meet. Is Thomas still planning on doing that sci-fi movie?"
"You know he is." Holly answered, wondering where she was going with this. "He's been taking his time with it during this move. Plans on focusing on it in a few weeks."
Addison pulled her phone out. "Don't judge me for this, but I took some pictures of the one I want for him."
Her friends studied the first image.
"She's pretty." Steve zoomed in on her face.
"I agree." Holly studied the next picture Addison had snapped.
"Look at her eyes." Addison pointed out.
The two were silent as they did as she said.
"Okay." Steve said slowly. "She has beautiful eyes."
"Oh." Holly blinked. "Oh, you're good."
"Right?!" Addison exclaimed.
"Am I missing something?" Steve asked.
"When are you doing this?" Holly asked. "How will you get her to do this?"
"I overheard her say she hoped to go on a tour of the studio. I thought I could offer to take her to Thomas's soundstage and," she scrunched her shoulders with anticipation, "watch the two fall in love."
"Hello?" Steve waved at them. "Guy over here that isn't fluent in Chang-Sinclaire-ese."
"Addison is going to pretend she's found the perfect person to play the female lead in Thomas's next film." Holly explained. "He has stated more than once that he believes he needs an actress with large, expressive eyes."
"Oh." He looked down at Amanda's face again. "You are good."
"Good enough to have you buy dinner for me?" Addison teased.
"I did just build a multimillion-dollar home." He pretended to think about it. "And you were singed on the job."
Addison clasped her hands together. "Think of my poor hair and how desperately it needs nutrients."
"I guess I could be talked into it." He smiled at her. "I do owe you both for recommending me to Thomas."
"Wait, you're paying for mine too?" Holly rose halfway out of her chair to search for their waiter. "I need to add to my order."
Once they had their entrees, Addison studied the two closely as they talked about their day. Feeling confident in her choice for Thomas, she began to wonder which individuals she could match them with.

i really love your art style. like holy crap i aspire to draw with such clean lines, nice angles and tastey cross hatching. idk if you can share a tip or what inspired your style but wow i love it 👍💜
AWH thank you!!!! That means a lot to me ;o;o;o;o;o;o;o; Nice angles and tastey cross hatching is exactly what I strive to have in my art because those are the most satisfying to me in art!!! As for tips or inspirations, I can try my best to share as to what I do to achieve my style :’D!!
Here’s to how I draw:
I don’t know if I have any tips but I generally just sketch with barely any pen pressure (or just none at all) and on full opacity. I make sure to finish a line in one stroke, though I generally also do a lot of them in two strokes and clean up after. Actually, with lines that are long, I sometimes leave two strokes if the initial one I did looks wrong in some way! To me, it looks much more satisfying that way XDD Though I don’t do that in actual lineart. I just really like thick lines djfhjdf I use a lot of triangle shapes :”D
When I’m using a brush with no pen pressure or opacity, I usually draw with 3 sizes of a brush. Usually just 3, 4, and 5. 3 for the small details, 4 for generally everything, and 5 for an outline of what I want to be emphasized! When I’m sketching this way, it’s really easy to just clean up and turn it to something that looks like actual lineart djfhdjksf. If I’m doing lineart for real though, I make my drawing at least be larger than 1000x1000 pixels and use a brush that’s either 12 pixels or higher depending on how large the image turns out to be >:D!
I use a LOT of references when I draw something, I barely draw anything without a reference and it really helps!! Don’t be ashamed of using references since, as artists, we’re all taking from reality in some way after all! I even have a folder in my laptop full of body references ready to go XDD
With stabilizers, I either use none at all or just never exceed ‘6′ unless I’m doing really long straight lines or a perfect circle. Line confidence really changes the game man djhfjkdhs All the hatching I’ve done over the years has helped me become less anxious about my strokes. If I can get away with it, I also turn most curves into straight lines! (I really like the look of blocky things though at the same time I strive for it to look soft as well djfhdjsfh)
Layers, layers, la y e r s. When I draw ANYTHING, I always have so many layers jdfhjf The first layer is the base/general shape, second is the first pass, (if I still don't like it there’s the second pass or even third;;;), next is additional details, and next next is even more additional details djshfjh I just merge all of them in the end and even then some parts I keep a copy of as a ‘just in case’ sorta thing djfhjs
If you’re having trouble with a drawing, its generally a good idea to redraw it (or at least a part of it)! Learning when to abandon a drawing and instead redraw/start anew has helped me improve a lot!!
Here’s the inspirations for my art:
My main inspiration that’s stayed consistent over the years is Zukich! Their lines and the aesthetic of how they draw is what I hope to hit one day though I still have absolutely no idea how they line or color their pieces djfhjf. Just looking at any piece of their art is re al ly satisfying and if you look at any of my drawings that are vaguely cartoonish/chibi-like, you can kinda see it XD
Another is @/princeofmints! I used to take inspiration from him with how I drew bodies and I still do! But I usually just want to draw bodies like those in shounen anime XDDDD
For my hatching, it was tamaytka that initially inspired me :D! I initially just used it to block in black colors when I didn’t have a tablet but I started using cross-hatching to shade traditionally as well so that turned into something else XDD I’m generally a bit too lazy to do it now though dsfghdjksgf
These people have all been inspirations to me, their art has helped me in shaping how I want my art to look like and I hope that in some way I’ve succeeded in deviating and not just outright copying :’)
Please feel free to ask me anything or tell me if you’d like me to expand on anything here :”D!! I’d like to help anyone struggling with art since I’ve been through those pains as well djhfjs I’m not exactly an expert but still :’DD

tagged by @sugakun!! sorry this took so long, but ty for thinking of me!!
rules: it’s time to love yourselves! choose your 5 favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world. tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
------
since i don’t post often, i’ll be including 2 edits from this year :)
1. nekoma high school gifset: i loved using the gradient textures, and really like the grainy/diamond texture on these gifs! i don’t really make gifs nowadays but this was so satisfying to finish
Tumblr media
2. kageyama’s birthday coloring: one of my most favorite edits i’ve ever done!! mini-story time: this coloring took me almost 2-3 years to finish (well, more like i was putting it off ^^’) and i’m so happy with the results! i’m always one for contrast and emphasis on the face, and am so proud of myself for making something i exactly envisioned.
Tumblr media
3. hinata’s smile over the years coloring: an absolute joy to make. i was smiling myself making this. it was even better that i got to make it for someone! this was right before i got a tablet and transitioned to coloring on it, aka the last time i redrew on a computer with a mouse. the brightness of the pastel colors and how they compliment each other and his face is just *chefs kiss*
Tumblr media
4. aran’s birthday coloring: my first coloring on the new tablet! it took some getting used to, so this isn’t as consistent as my others, but i love the bold colors, brightness in the eyes, and the intensity of the scenes! this was also my first time redrawing by hand - my other attempts at redraws were by mouse, and were an absolute struggle. on the other hand, cleaning scans on the tablet was also a learning curve so grass is always greener elsewhere :) aran’s also one of my faves so ofc i had to make something for him >:)
Tumblr media
5. hinata’s birthday coloring: @me: this one!!!! is so good!!! i am so proud of this one because i experimented a lot: using different base colors for contrast, shading in the hair, shading the sweat (lol), while still emphasizing on the face. i also love how these scenes mirror each other well and compliment the whole edit, so it makes it even more impactful. really, really, happy with how this turned out!
Tumblr media
tagging (only if you want to!): @inasuma @kurootetsuros @mob-psycho @sukerokus @zackfaire @akaashikeji @kourai
