Losses From the Metaverse Division in Meta were Significant
Tumblr media
Mark Zuckerberg put Horizon Worlds on quality lockdown late last year due to persistent bugs.
Upon its initial launch, the graphics were widely mocked, prompting the CEO to issue an apology.
At the time, Meta employees rarely used the metaverse platform despite orders to use it at work and home.
They later underwent a quality lockdown to address issues with Horizon World’s appearance and functionality.
Last year, Meta shared expectations that Reality Labs’ operating labs in 2023 would grow significantly annually.
“Beyond 2023, we expect to pace Reality Labs investments such that we can achieve our goal of growing overall company operating income in the long run,” they added at the time..............Read More

The standard reference on coins in Shakespeare (Engstrom, 1964) cites 22 different types specifically mentioned in the plays. Many of these are scarce, high-value gold and silver types, so assembling a complete set would be a challenge for a wealthy and patient collector. The most significant recent sale of Shakespearean coins was a Summer 2006 fixed price list from Stack’s in New York City. Hammered English coins are very popular with modern collectors, and these items frequently appear in major British and US auctions.

When Seleucus III was poisoned by his officers in 223 BCE, his 18-year-old son, Antiochus, inherited an empire that was rapidly falling apart. In a reign of 35 years, Antiochus III tried to emulate the conquests of Alexander, earning the epithet Megas(“the Great”). The remote province of Bactria (now part of Afghanistan) had broken away, and the fierce Parthians threatened the northern border. The Egyptians occupied Palestine and Phoenicia.
Then Molon, governor of Media (western Iran), rebelled, declaring himself king. Neighboring provinces joined the revolt, and Molon captured the eastern capital, Seleucia on the Tigris. Molon’s portrait survives on a unique silver tetradrachm now in a German museum[1]. Taking personal command of his army, young Antiochus crushed Molon’s revolt (Spring, 220 BCE). When the rebel killed himself to avoid capture, his corpse was mutilated and crucified.

Part I | Part II | Part III
Antiochus Epiphanes & Alexander II Zabinas
In 128 BCE, Syria rose in revolt against the hated regime of Demetrius II (see Part III, above). His wife, Cleopatra Thea, put a young son on the throne, seeking popular favor. The identity of the child and his fate are disputed; Seleucid royals were often named “Antiochus”, and even his epithet on the coinage, Epiphanes (“illustrious”), was frequently recycled. Rare tetradrachms[1] of this brief reign show “a very pretty child, with chubby cheeks, double chin, and a slight smile (Houghton, 436).” A standing figure of Tyche, Antioch’s patron goddess, appears on the reverse.

NFTs Will be Featured at the Center Pompidou in 2023
Tumblr media
Yuga Labs, the creator of the most popular NFT the Bored Ape Yacht Club, took the opportunity on Friday to assert the artistic merits of NFT projects in a statement.
“Partnering with Centre Pompidou, one of the most iconic contemporary art museums in the world, signifies that CryptoPunks are rightfully being recognized as an important art movement by the industry,” they wrote.
However, it remain unclear what function CryptoPunk #110 will play in the exhibit.
Centre Pompidou also released a statement about the NFT-centric exhibit, saying:
“With this new acquisition, it is less a question of taking an interest in the pop cultural phenomenon of ‘collectibles’ (these collections of images sold as NFTs, such as the Bored Apes or the CryptoPunks), than of exploring the boldest uses of this technology.”......................Read More
