Just some random cockatiel sketches I found in an old sketchbook
I felt bad for them so I’m letting them see the light of day through this post

say Hello to my newest DnD character!  Ylltri Featherbro.
He is an Aarakorca that wanders Wildemount because his parents died in a thunderstorm and his village shunned a half eagle, half cockateel. Now he drifts though life chasing shiny things and the hope for a simple nest with a man and a child.

There really is nothing else like waking up here.
The sun shines outside, already hot enough to make the glass behind the curtains warm to touch, the curtains themselves glowing with the light. The room is still a little stuffy from the day before, and the breeze through the open window isn't cool with night air anymore - another hour and you'll need to shut it so the heat stays out, even though it's not even 8 in the morning. There's birds outside, galahs and cockateels, a magpie warbling somewhere in the distance.
A good morning, from Australia.

It’s tough because she is a really good dog. She listens & has a strong situational awareness I’ve never seen in another dog. She’s chill & loves people & hikes & runs & kayaking & concerts & comes when called. She never bites back. She has always defended me when appropriate. She kept me from getting lost in the woods countless times. She’s uncannily smart, & made her way back to the drivers side car door when we got separated, to ensure I didn’t leave without her.
It’s tough because I’ve had her so long, she’s been the only stable, positive force in my life, since I was 18. I never felt alone with her, I always felt safe with her, we went everywhere together. She has lived at every house I’ve lived since I moved out of my moms. She’s met every friend & fling. My great grandfather pet her sweetly. He feels not so far away, when I look at her.
It’s tough because she’s one of the few things I care about on a deep level, & I wasn’t sure if anyone would support me when I needed it. When people leaned on me, I leaned on her. (Thankfully, my partner is in this with me. I didn’t realize I secretly feared that he wouldn’t support me, I guess? How silly. I realize how little I expect from people, how low my expectations really are. He surpasses these every time.)
It’s tough because we are facing mortality, like we all do. When someone who’s been with you half your life is facing death, it’s perspective. It’s loss of eras & shared memories. She still looks around the room when she hears a bird call, remembering my little Cockateel, Piper, who she loved.
It’s a lot of things. Permanence, time, friendship. It’s the deepest connection I’ve ever felt with an animal, or most people. It’s love, I guess.

•He’s very knowledgeable about different breeds of birds and their habitats.
• He has a tree photo as his home screen & a picture of an eclectus parrot as his lock screen.
• His cover photo on Facebook & Twitter is of lots of trees.

Lutino Cockatiel Lifespan
Originally described by using Scottish author and naturalist Robert Kerr in 1793 as Psittacus hollandicus, the cockatiel (or cockateel) become moved to its own genus, Nymphicus, via Wagler in 1832. [citation needed] Its genus name displays the enjoy of one of the earliest groups of Europeans to look the birds of their native habitat; the visitors notion the birds had been so stunning that they named them after legendary nymphs. The particular call hollandicus refers to New Holland, a historic call for Australia.
Its biological dating had lengthy been argued; it's miles now categorised right into a monotypic subfamily Nymphicinae but had every so often within the past been misclassified most of the Platycercinae, the vast-tailed parrots. This trouble has now been settled with molecular studies. A 1984 look at of protein allozymes signalled its closer relationship to cockatoos than to parrots, and Mitochondrial 12S rRNA collection data locations it among the Calyptorhynchinae (darkish cockatoos) subfamily. Lutino Cockatiel Lifespan. The specific, parakeet (meaning long-tailed parrot) morphological characteristic is a effect of the decrease in size and accompanying exchange of ecological area of interest.
Sequence analysis of intron 7 of the nuclear ?-fibrinogen gene, however, shows that it may but be distinct sufficient as to warrant popularity of the Nymphicinae in place of inclusion of the genus inside the Calyptorhynchinae.
The cockatiel is now biologically labeled as a authentic member of Cacatuidae resulting from sharing all the cockatoo family's biological functions, namely, the erectile crest, a gallbladder, powder down, suppressed cloudy-layer (which precludes the display of blue and green structural hues), and facial feathers protecting the perimeters of the beak, all of which might be rarely determined outdoor the own family Cacatuidae.

I have a cockateel and she’s super sweet, funny, and affectionate. Would it be ok for me to adopt any of the bitties, or would some of them like King and Mamba see her as prey?
If you want to adopt a hunter-type lamia (King, Chain, Mamba and sometimes Coral or Honey Bo), simply let them know that your cockatiel is a pet and a member of the family.
They won’t hurt her as long as they know. In fact, they will want to care for and protect her because they will see her as “family” instead of “prey.”

Okay, very random (and quite dumb) idea but... You know how human babies sound like? Now, imagine baby angels sounding like barn owl or cockateel chicks :)
I physically cannot think about that for too long or my brain goes into meltdown. There is such a thing as too cute.
