Post 1008
Brandon L Pawlak, Ohio inmate A672523, born 1988, incarceration intake in 2015 at age 27, scheduled for release 05/24/2050
Theft, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault with a Vehicle, Braking and Entering, Failure to Comply
In 2015, a 27-year-old Cleveland man was sentenced to 35 1/2 years in prison for crashing a stolen truck into a bar, badly injuring 13 people.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Deena Calabrese imposed the sentence on Brandon Pawlak after hearing from victims of the crash and their relatives talk of lingering physical pain and mental anguish.
"You have created and caused havoc in our society," Calabrese told Pawlak. "Drivers like yourself don't care about the safety of other people, what they care about is themselves, and that's what you cared about that night."
Earlier, a jury found Pawlak guilty of 30 of the 32 counts he faced. That included aggravated robbery, aggravated vehicular assault, failure to comply with the orders of a police officer, grand theft, and breaking and entering.
Pawlak stole one vehicle early on the morning of Oct. 23, 2014, then stole another truck from the Sweetbriar Golf Club in Avon Lake around 8:30 p.m. the same day.
Police were called to the golf club and chased Pawlak in the stolen white Ford F-250 pickup at high speeds for five minutes through Avon and Westlake. A police officer threw "stop sticks" on the road, and Pawlak eventually lost control and the truck careened into the Dover Gardens Tavern.
Many of the patrons were at the tavern to watch Thursday night football. Although no one was killed, 13 people were taken to the hospital that night. Four had to be flown to a second hospital to handle their severe injuries.
Pawlak's mother, Karen Boyd, told the judge that she's sorry for the victims, but her son is not a bad person. "Sometimes good people make bad decisions and it doesn't mean they're monsters or have evil hearts."
Brandon Pawlak told the families he feels bad about what happened to them, and that he prays for them every day. He asked for their forgiveness, but insisted he was not the driver of the truck, just a passenger. He said he plans to appeal his conviction.
But Judge Calabrese countered that video played during trial shows Pawlak exiting the truck from what appears to be the driver's side. Calabrese also referred to Pawlak's criminal record dating to 1998, including a conviction for failure to comply in 2011. In that case, Pawlak led Cleveland police on a brief chase before causing an accident.

My wife and I got married in the Hamptons of Cleveland, a small gated community an hour south of Buffalo called the Chautauqua Institution. A year later, steps from where we had danced to a Beatles cover band, someone stabbed Salman Rushdie.
I worry Chautauqua will be known for that attack someday. When I tell a friend where we were married, will I see their face change in subtle recognition? Will it become like saying you went to Columbine High School but graduated years before the shooting?
Probably not. The Chautauqua lore is so rich that it’s unlikely to be known for any single event. It’s been praised by the New York Times for being a spiritually and intellectually satisfying retreat, and bashed in the New York Times for its Boys’ and Girls’ Club, the oldest children’s day camp in the country, one that still separates the sexes.
“Chautauquas,” according to the first few pages of Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance once littered the United States. Intellectuals toured the country giving lectures during the Lyceum Movement, an experiment in adult education for the masses. Chautauqua, New York was the flagship community and is also one of the few Chautauquas that has survived.
An entire page of my sophomore American History textbook was devoted to Chautauqua. Writers, politicians, comedians, and essayists all traveled on the lyceum circuit to get their message out to the world. William Jennings Bryan was likely the most exciting speaker, a man who I first heard about in the play Our Town where the Stage Manager excitedly tells the audience that “Bryan once made a speech from these very steps here.” Thanks to my family’s yearly vacations in Chautauqua, I too had seen some steps where Bryan had once made a speech. Exciting stuff. I was walking through a page of my history textbook every summer.
Though I knew the place was somewhat famous, Chautauqua’s history often seemed embellished. Once, a nice white-haired lady walking past me on the road, unprompted, pointed at a patch of grass beyond the institution’s fence and said “You know, Amelia Earhart landed her plane on that golf course once.” Sure she did, lady. Then a few days later, I’d found myself in the Chautauqua library staring at a giant black-and-white photo of Amelia Earhart standing on the Chautauqua golf course. It’s near a few photos of FDR in front of the Chautauqua Opera House.
It’s difficult to describe Chautauqua to the uninitiated. I happily let my wife describe it for others whenever the subject comes up: “It’s the set of Dirty Dancing.” Aside from the fact that it’s not in the Catskills and the spirit of the place is a little more centered on intellectual/spiritual edification, it is exactly like the set of Dirty Dancing, complete with a treelined lake, an enormous hotel, and a house full of actors and dancers at one end of the grounds who let loose, partying every night to the wee hours (10 PM) when everything in the Institution closes and strict quiet hours are enforced. Women can even take Ballroom Dance classes with young men, though I get the sense that both parties are a little more puritanical than Swayze and his students. Unfortunately, also like the movie, thanks to a few speakers from the Heritage Foundation, there are also several Chautauquans who like Ayn Rand.
For the kids who grew up going to Chautauqua every summer, it was a giant playground. We went during Week Five of the season consistently and became fast friends with anyone our age. Boys’ and Girls’ Club hours went from 9 AM to noon, and from 2 PM to 4 PM so parents could attend talks or a pottery class while the kids were playing dodgeball and rehearsing for Air Band (a lip-syncing competition for all club attendees). Because the Institution is safe compared to nearly every place people visit from, the kids roam free. They have carte blanche to do whatever they please during daylight hours. We biked, ate mountains of ice cream, or played ping pong for hours when we weren’t at club playing GaGa Ball, a game where you hunched over and used your hands to hit your opponents’ ankles with a volleyball.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night promised to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the Biden family only hours after his arraignment on 37 federal felony charges in Florida.
Trump’s vow prompted cheers and chants of “lock him up!” from the audience. The idea followed Trump’s own proclamation that he was facing “political persecution like something out of a fascist or communist nation.”
The day would “go down in infamy,” he said, adding that on Election Day 2024, “justice will be done.”
Trump also hinted at what his defense might look like, claiming that photos included in the indictment — which show boxes stored in a bathroom and on a stage — were “staged,” and saying some of the boxes held memorabilia, not documents. Trump’s lawyers reviewed his speech, a person familiar with the matter said.
The goal of today was to “lay down a marker of how he wants to frame the entire case,” said Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump.
Trump and his team of advisers crafted the day of his arraignment to work to his political benefit, with remarks to allies and friends at his club, a fundraiser for this campaign, and a surprise stop at a famous Miami restaurant packed with supporters. And Trump’s speech had hallmarks of a MAGA rally, with declarations to “Save America” and go after political enemies, including President Joe Biden.
“What did the other candidates do today? We know where Trump was. He was going to Cafe Versailles, giving a speech here tonight, and there was no other oxygen for other candidates,” Cheung said.
The former president opened his remarks with familiar attacks on Biden and the Justice Department while maintaining that he did nothing wrong in stashing boxes containing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida estate, after leaving the White House at the end of his term.
Tuesday’s charges were nothing more than “political prosecution,” he told the crowd of his die-hard fans and allies who traveled to Bedminster for the last-minute invitation to hear him speak.
There was MyPillow CEO and election conspiracist Mike Lindell; Bernie Kerik, the former NYPD commissioner who was pardoned by Trump; conservative radio host and former White House official Sebastian Gorka; and Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist and former senior administration official. Dozens of Vietnamese American supporters of Trump wore matching red dresses with “Save America” emblazoned across the front, and they posed for photos in front of the clubhouse at his New Jersey golf club.
Mixed in were Trump donors who had already planned to attend a fundraiser at the club, along with members of Mar-a-Lago in Florida and personal friends of Trump who came to show their support, like Robert Jeffress from the First Baptist Dallas megachurch. Some in attendance had political aspirations of their own, like Cleveland businessman Bernie Moreno, who is running for Senate and whose son-in-law Max Miller worked in the Trump administration and now serves as a U.S. congressman from Ohio, as well as Jim Marchant of Nevada, an election denier who is running for Senate after a failed bid for Secretary of State. Ed Cox, the current chair of the New York GOP and son-in-law of President Richard Nixon, was also spotted at the event.
Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) skipped a key Senate vote Tuesday to travel to Bedminster in support of Trump, although the day before he had expressed concerns about whether he would be able to do so.
Jeffress said he had been texting with Trump about the indictment news.
“I just have told him I’m praying for him, which I am, so I wanted to show him support,” he said. “Millions of people are praying for him, and this is not going to defeat him. This is going to make him stronger. I think these are serious charges, they are not frivolous. I think for the investigation and prosecution to have any merit it’s going to have all taint of election interference removed from it. I think the best thing Joe Biden could do is suspend the prosecution until after the election.”
Tuesday’s arraignment was Trump’s second since April, after he was charged with 34 state felonies in New York over his alleged role in a scheme to cover up allegations of extramarital affairs ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
The former president gave a similar speech following his previous arraignment, during which he assailed those involved in the case, including Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the case, and acting Justice Juan Merchan, who presided over the proceeding.
The current GOP front-runner is also facing two other ongoing criminal probes into his role in 2020 election interference, at least one of which could result in charges this summer.
The April indictment did not shake Trump’s standing in the polls, and a recent CBS News poll shows him holding a nearly 40-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, his closest competitor in the race.
Antonio Rufa, a Trump supporter who came to see Trump’s remarks, said the indictment would only help the former president politically.
“They’re making [Trump] a martyr,” Rufa said. “Just look at the polls.”
Andrew Giuliani, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son, who played golf with Trump the day after he learned of his indictment, said the ex-president seemed “unfazed.”
“I think he’s been no doubt frustrated with the way he’s been treated,” Giuliani said. “I would say more than ever he’s focused on the mission and what the next 17 months are going to take.”
Ahead of Trump’s speech, Bedminster members wandered in from rounds of golf and dinner at the club. Members had been invited to come see Trump’s remarks.
After he wrapped, half of the crowd wandered inside where the former president planned to hold a “candlelight dinner,” photo opportunity and meet-and-greet with some of his top donors at the first major fundraiser of his campaign.

Charlie Rymer Born: December 18, 1967, Cleveland, TN Physique: Average Build Height: 6′ 4″ (1.93 m)
Charlie Rymer is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour and the Nike Tour. He is currently an analyst for the Golf Channel.
Rymer is tall, cute and reminds me a lot of Indiana Attorney General, Todd Rokita. Another guy I'd give and or take a dick from. Apparently Rymer is married with two children and a grandchild.

what's the issue with saying Tom spiraled? Like, looking back it's painfully obvious how difficult that whole period was for him. You have him rebounding with O, hooking up with different women in Cleveland and London, pulling out of golf tournaments and getting drunk on the reg. Those are not the actions of someone who was okay at the time. And like that other anon said, Tom himself has said that Z has been instrumental for his sanity and general happiness in life. We all need people to keep us grounded and losing our footing when those people aren't in our lives anymore is hard, but extremely normal. We're all human!
Tumblr media
Exactly!
And let's not forget that unfollowing frenzy (and re-following?? LOL) of Z's people after Tom saw pictures of Z and JE kissing in NYC! Then, you add on top of that his demeanor during his Onward press tour in LA around Valentine's Day (which, no doubt HAD to be super hard on him especially after seeing Z spending weeks in NYC with JE)... Like, he was not himself. I've talked about this for a while....
I've been saying this on my blog the entire time that they BOTH were not in their right minds after their breakup. They each dealt with the heartache and pain in different ways, but the signs (albeit sometimes subtle) were obvious that they were going through it after their breakup.
I think I've done a pretty good job of going down a run-through of some of the things that we noticed after their breakup and how they were emotionally going through it.
