I blame @andypantsx3 for sending the discord server a pic of Jedi Shouto and then @willowser for sending me deeper into the spiral but here i am with a surprise piece for him and our little scrappy scavenger reader, yes I wrote this in a possessed rush I’m sorry
.・゜゜・・゜゜・..・゜゜・・゜゜・.
You’ve been in fights before.
“You’re scrappy.” Maru, your dearest Jawa companion, told you and even added that you maybe were part feral womp rat. Yes you can throw a punch of course and you have your blaster for a reason. But you rely on your wits. So you appreciate someone who can fight.
And the Jedi before you fights with something akin to grace.
Two black cloaked individuals got the jump on you and Todoroki. You were knocked flat on your ass with your blaster flung far away from your reach. The streets of Coruscant scrambled at the sight of the battle, leaving the Jedi with the two mystery assailants.
He is outnumbered.
Yet Todoroki without any hesitation ignites not one but two lightsabers to life and you’re electrified with shock.
You knew Jedi all wielded a saber. For him to have two makes your race thinking of how strong he must be.
And…how much money you’ll get for selling not one but two sabers now when you eventually rob this foolish Jedi.
Strangely the sabers are two different colors. One is the classic icy blue and the other is a bright crystal white. The movements of the two create cloud like swirls as Todoroki moves with them fluidly.
His swipes and parrying attacks drip with years of discipline. He’s a skilled warrior, deadly and precise. Watching him ignites a heat under your skin that feels itchy and tight. Todoroki is man who makes you wonder sometimes if his mind is a cinder block. He’s ridiculous, annoying, and strikingly blunt.
But he’s beautiful, a warrior carved from composed power. And your heart is caught up in the gravity of his spiraling force.
The enemies flee and instead of chasing after them, Todoroki rushes to you. His two sabers and their bright colors go silent.
“Are you alright?” His dual colored eyes scan you for injuries.
“I’m fine you idiot! Go after them!” You shriek angrily.
“No.” He sternly replies, helping you to your feet. “Your safety comes first.”
You want to hiss at him for being a moron but also at what his words do to your heart.
In the quiet release of the battle diminishing, curiosity starts to peck at you.
“So…didn’t know you had two lightsabers.” You begin casually.
“Yes, it’s not very common.” Todoroki agrees
It fits him. His dual hair, his two planet like eyes so different in colors - of course he would also have two distinctly different sabers.
“That’s…neat.” It’s a lame response but it’s all you can muster up. “Didn’t even realize you could pick two different colors.”
“Normally you can’t.” Todoroki replies quietly and a small moment passes.
“The white one is my brother’s.”
Your eyes go wide.
“Wait, you have a brother who was also a Jedi?” You never even knew he had siblings. You now realize with a grim seriousness you know nothing about your makeshift comrade.
“I did.” Todoroki nods and lifts the saber in question into his hands.
You get a good look at the weapon. The metal is a clash between silver and burnt edges. It seems as if it’s been forged together by a great heat. Even some of the ridges are melted. Multiple scratches scatter around the edges. This saber feels as if it crawled out the depths of something dangerous and burnt away all the regality the Jedi are known for.
“Seems like its seen better days.” You mutter.
“This was his saber before he passed away.” Todoroki in his gentle composed voice reveals the history of the blade. His words shoot your heart out of your chest.
Oh.
Your eyes flicker fast to Todoroki who keeps his attention on the lightsaber. You have never seen him look this way, so distant with an ancient sorrow in his gaze.
“I’m…I’m sorry about your brother.” You mean your words.
“Thank you.”
To fight with a weapon bathed in such heartache but in such connection says much about the Jedi before you. It also makes you curious about him even more.
“Come on.” You playfully elbow your Jedi. “Let’s see if we can find where those pieces of shits went.”
“Afterwards I want noodles from that diner you took us to.” Todoroki says matter of factly.
“You and those damn noodles! You know you can order something else.” You tease.
“No.” His flat out response makes you roll your eyes.
The streets of the city planet are never quiet. In that commotion you are caught up in your thoughts.
The deal you made with the syndicate leader flashes fierce and poisonous in your mind. You swore you would sell him a Jedi’s lightsaber to pay off your debt. Maker, just a few moments ago you were getting excited at the prospect of getting to snag two sabers.
Yet the tender sadness shimmering in the Jedi’s eyes cuts through all of those thoughts.
To fight with the relic of a loved one, one composed of heartache and depth, tells you how heartfelt this man is. He even trusted you with that truth.
It all releases a sinking guilt you haven’t felt in a long time. You want to hiss feral and angry at the ache swirling in your chest like an actual womp rat. It’s enough that you think maybe…maybe you won’t snag Todoroki’s second saber just yet.
Not just because it’s his dead brothers, because yes even as a scoundrel scavenger, you have your limits...
But because your heart feels as if it’s been snagged and caught on not one but both of this Jedi’s dangerous light blades.
