thinking about how attitudes towards violence changed throughout the warriors series actually reminded me of a comment i got on an old Human AU of mine -- someone mentioned that they found it really funny that human Fireheart cries a lot 'compared to how he is in canon'
it's true that I wrote him in a more emotionally volatile way but it's the "compared to how he is in canon" in the sentence that stuck with me, because how is Fireheart, in canon? cause he's not a stone-cold emotionless badass.
The whole 'soft kittypet' accusation is levied at him by his rivals but in hindsight, isn't that what set him apart? wasn't he positioned as uniquely compassionate, inclined towards keeping peace when the Clanborn around him wanted to resort to violence?
i think his legacy as the best leader to ever exist is maybe partially why the series has veered so sharply away from the more cutthroat Clan culture of the first arc. I mean, Longtail and Firepaw's fight would never in a million years happen in the current Clans, unless it was to drive home a point about how bloodthirsty and dictatorial the leader overseeing it is.

Thoughts on med cat Fireheart AUs if any?
While the idea of an outsider being more connected to StarClan than Clanborn cats is pretty neat, I feel like that's perfectly well accomplished through Warrior Fireheart anyway
Besides, look at this guy! Fireheart craves blood and violence! This is 7 pounds of menace and ancient wrong-righting. My problem with canon Firestar is how badly he gets tamed in TNP thru OotS, that would only get worse with him being in a non-combat role.

Question: What would be the reaction in The clanborn Firestar AU if Firestar was a patrician and Tigerstar had told Stonefur to choose, from that other anon? (Idk if Feather or Storm count as Particians, or is it just from Leopard?) Would Stone be expected to pick Fire because it's expected, or would it be better to sacrifice Fire, to create a martyr thus 'Fire Alone,' and enrage the clans to stand up to tyranny? How would Stonestar live with himself if he did pick Fire, and would Fire gift him a life and what would it be?
OK, this is very hyper-specific, and while I appreciate the question it's basically asking me to write a ficlet of a scenario that is very much not how I would write.
So to make it incredibly short: within the augur AU framework Fireheart would absolutely be a valuable hostage who Stonefur would be expected to prioritize, moreso as his son, but threatening to kill him in itself could shake confidence. Better to not let him interfere first before holding him.

bi power couple
Firestar and Sandstorm are both bisexual in Burning Thistles! and in canon probably lol
their relationship in BT is slightly different - not filled with as much initial hatred since Firekit was clanborn, but that doesn’t mean there’s not any tension between them in the early days, considering Auntie Frostfur liked to fill Sandpaw’s ears with whispers of Firepaw’s parentage
they’re very much in that “oh my StarClan you guys are basically already mates just ask each other out!!” phase in BT currently lol
also i think it’s funny that Sandstorm is friends with Creekflower (mostly bcus she’s friends with Fireheart and Cherryfur) even tho she thinks Creek is a traitor/stupid for getting with a kittypet (also think it’s funny if Sand had a brief crush on Creek too lmao)

did anyone ask for Evil Frostfur? No? Well take it bcus I’m obsessed with her.
Yes this is from @firealder2005 and I’s Burning Thistles AU once more (I’m also obsessed with it). well, technically this event doesn’t exactly happen as seen in the video (it’s more exaggerated here, also the collar is more symbolic than a real object Frostfur got her paws on)

gosh ngl Feathercloud from @firealder2005 and I’s fic Burning Thistles is by far my favorite character to not only write but to just... his personality, his story, his hardships, his family, his lovelife... I love it all sm i swear, and he’s not even a main character even vsjfsdkfjs but my love for him makes him one <3
Featherkit is one of Runningwind and Dappletail’s canonical kits- the deaf tom-kit who ‘wandered away’, but in BT he is Runningwind and Redtail’s son with Dappletail being his surrogate mother, born alongside his sister Crickekit :)
the amount of angst and fluff i can shove into this boy is incomprehensible

why did i do this to myself
yep its a Burning Thistles Friendship Map as of Chapter 101! ...well, and a few spoilers, technically, but shhhhh. they’re minor anyway lol. i made sure not to do the big spoilery ones ;)
betcha cant identify every character here lol (i feel any avid BT fan could name 31/32 of them, bcus that 32nd one is a curveball whose only been important in like... 1/101 chapters. and prob only mentioned in.... 5/101?)
anyway here’s all the names, have fun putting them to faces: Fireheart, Sandstorm, Cherryfur, Creekflower, Oliver, Airleap, Morningflower, Onewhisker, Copperleaf, Dawncloud, Grasswhisker, Silverstream, Lightningfur, Mousefur, Runningwind, Darkstripe, Longtail, Dustpelt, Ravenpaw, Barley, Runningbrook, Ashheart, Cinderfur, Tallpoppy, Mistyfoot, Graystripe, Gremlin, Brackenfur, Feathercloud, Cricketheart, Scraps.
so there are also a lot more characters in this “friend group” but i tried to only hit the major ones. but just to have the full scope here, I’m gonna list every main-main character’s friend group. this means NOT including kin, so no sibs/parents/niblings
Fireheart’s: Runningwind (BFF), Darkstripe (ex-BFF/brother-figure, still wants to be friends w/), Sandstorm (crush), Cherryfur (friend through his sis Creekflower), Graystripe (apprentice), Cinderpelt (apprentice), Brackenfur (apprentice), Oliver (through Creekflower), Mistyfoot (apprenticehood friends), Stonefur (apphood friends, not as strong as Misty’s), Cinderfur (apphood friends), Onewhisker (apphood friends)
Creekflower’s: Cherryfur (BFF), Sandstorm (frenemies through Cherryfur/Fireheart, who are both friends w/ her), Brindleface (queen friends), Runningwind (through Fireheart), Longtail (mutual hatred; through Cherryfur) Mousefur (through Sandstorm), Oliver (mates), Oliver’s kittypet friends (through Oliver)
Lightningfur’s: Silverstream (BFF), Mousefur (ex-BFF, no longer friends), Rippleclaw (supporter), Sedgecreek (Sedge has a crush on her; she hates Sedge), Beetlenose (supporter), Mallowtail (supporter), Grasswhisker (thinks Grass is annoying but also Grass is her step-mom technically), Vixenleap (supporter/through Grasswhisker), Shadepelt (supporter), Greenflower (supporter), Mistyfoot (through Silverstream) .... (really Lightningfur has no friends at this point since Silverstream’s death)
Airleap’s: Morningflower (platonically raised kits together; his first WC friend), Onewhisker (friend; One probably thinks of Airleap as his closest friend), Ashfoot (friend), Deadfoot (friend), Runningbrook (friend), Whitetail (friend), Ravenpaw (mentorly towards him), Barley (through Ravenpaw), Sandstorm (from the mission/through Fireheart; he doesn’t think they’re friends but Sand feels defensive over him bcus of what happened), Tallpoppy (same reason as Sandstorm), Cinderfur (same reason as Sand and Tall but less so)
Copperleaf’s: Dawncloud (QPR mate/BFF), Cinderfur (BFF), Ashheart (friend), Tallpoppy (friend/Dawn’s BFF), Whitethroat (through Tallpoppy), Wetfoot (through Tallpoppy), Badgerfang (son-in-law/mutual respect), Flintfang (mutual respect), Fernshade (mutual respect)
Darkstripe’s: Fireheart (ex-BFF/brother-figure, still wants to be friends w/), Runningwind (ex-friends/kinda still friends but distant), Cherryfur (mutual hatred), Longtail (apprentice), Dustpelt (apprentice), Tigerclaw (idol), Onewhisker (apphood friends that grew apart)
Feathercloud’s: Graystripe (kithood friends that grew apart), Ravenpaw (ex-mate/crush), Brackenfur (BFF/crush), Gremlin (from mission), Scraps (from mission), Barley (through Ravenpaw), other WC cats (through Ravenpaw)
Spottedleaf’s: Yellowfang (most trusted), Mudfur (sympathetic to her), Bluestar (admirance; now weakening), Brindleface (rekindling friendship), Frostfur (formerly; crush), Tigerclaw (only slightly; formerly), Whitestorm (kinda awkward friends now)
Frostfur’s: Willowpelt (formerly), Spottedleaf (formerly), Redtail (formerly), Whitestorm (formerly/strained politeness on Whitestorm’s end), Tigerclaw (reluctantly/formerly), Speckletail (BFF; starting to strain)
also everyone hates Grasswhisker and its... kinda sad. like, hello, she’s a victim... yeah she’s been really mean, but truly it’s been out of fear and desperation for Thistlestar to love her and only her just like she loveslovesloves him (why can’t he just love her? why isnt she good enough? her mind cries). like Airleap was the only one who was like “Hey wait a minute-” (and now everyone hates her bcus she was mean to Airleap... by blaming him for murder)

Ok but imagine a switch au with Tallstar and Jake. Tallstar's name would be Rook or Onyc, while Jake can be... Flame-something. Maybe Finchkit is alive and she goes by Dawn while Tallstar's called Dusk.
He leaves his clan in search of adventure, then almost immediately dies from being run over. The driver takes him to the vet and brings him home to recover, which is annoying but at least the odd kittypet makes it more bearable.
I'd imagine that Tallstar as a kittypet would be the opposite of what the clans lead Jake to believe. He's tall, slender, and could pull off an intimidating look very well, none of that "kittypet softness" the clans speak of. Jake asks if he was sure he wasn't once a rogue and Dusk laughs.
Anyway, Jake is almost completely healed and bored, so he asks Dusk for a way out. Dusk promises to show him the way back to forestland, as long as he helps get his collar off. Usually his sister helps with that, but their housefolk have taken her to the vet.
Jake agrees, and together they go off on an adventure.
As for how this ties into the actual series... Nutmeg is either a clancat with Jake or she's Tallstar's sibling, or maybe a loner they meet on their adventure. Maybe this becomes a clanborn!Fireheart and kittypet!Sandstorm au where Sandstorm is Dawn's kit.
I really like this!

What if Tigerclaw had been Firepaw's mentor?
much more interesting a story tbh
But okay so like. For the sake of this making sense, I'mma use rewrite!Tgerclaw because canon!Tigerclaw is too obvious a Bad Dude.
Having Firepaw as his apprentice, though, Tigerclaw would have pushed him harder than any other of his potential mentors. He would reinforce Fire's insecurities about being a kittypet and use them to spur him towards being "the best warrior he can be," at least in Tigerclaw's words, and he would be in a much better position to manipulate him.
He would definitely lean on Firepaw's worries about not being good enough, about not being clanborn, and use it to make Firepaw feel like Tigerclaw is one of the few cats who understands and fully accepts him. Firepaw would absolute idolize his mentor, so when it starts seeming like Tigerclaw might not be everything he seems, he's more willing to try to ignore it.
In this scenario, I don't think it's Firepaw who sees Tigerclaw's betrayal coming. In fact, I would have it that Firepaw is actually closer friends with Dustpaw and Sandpaw, who accept him more knowing that he's the apprentice of the clan's most impressive warrior. He's a bit more condescending to Greypaw and Ravenpaw because he wants to fit in, because Tigerclaw made him feel like he needs to.
Greystripe, Ravenpaw (who stays he always stays in my aus), and Cinderpelt are the ones who out Tigerclaw at the end of the day, and when Tigerclaw is exiled, Fireheart is shattered, and his friendship with Sandstorm and Dustpelt falters because suddenly he feels like every relationship he's built in the clan has been fake.
As the clan recovers, Fireheart ends up having to rebuild his relationships from scrap. Cinderpelt is made a premature deputy instead of Fireheart, who's heavily stigmatized in the clan alongside Dustpelt and Sandstorm for having been close with Tigerclaw, and life goes on from there. Eventually, Fireheart develops a grudge against his former mentor, making for a MUCH more personal rivalry between the two.

for the ask game: The Last Hope?
Dustpelt and Sandstorm had so much more potential in later books, especially Dustpelt. Kinda makes me sad they ditched him and just made him a background character. Sure, he had some parts in the first few books, but those were few and far between. It was just disappointing. Honestly, I kinda wish they kept his “you’re a kittypet and i’m superior because i’m clanborn” at least a bit, and have something between him and Fireheart/star happen, and perhaps makes Fireheart/star (im putting both bc idk when it would happen) question his place in the clan a lot more, and almost go around a Bluestar-like path, but instead of the clan being traitors, the clan hating him and thinking he’s unworthy to be a clan cat due to his kittypet heritage, but then Dustpelt has a change of heart (not fully maybe, but something? maybe he hears kits and/or apps/warriors talking about how Firestar is a really good leader/friend, and Dustpelt is like “even if i dont like him the clan does so i guess he’s okay”) and either apologizes, or just tells Firestar he’s worthy to be a clan leader (or something of the sort). I know we had that for the first book or so, but that was when he was still Firepaw, and was still being accepted by the whole clan. Here, it would be more of a later on type thing, and it would be more serious, as he is already clan leader (and maybe for some extra spice it happens when Greystripe is gone and Firestar refuses to make another cat deputy (i think thats what happened???? havent read the first arc or two in a while lmao- something similar), so without Firestar it’s worse (bc with Bluestar, Fireheart had already been made deputy, so if anything happened to her they did have him, and he was fine with taking the leadership role while Bluestar was goin through the rough times). This turned into an entire-ass AU LMAO

some stuff i’m working on over vacation
if you have thoughts or opinions on what you'd like to see let me know.
everything is under a cut bc some of the excerpts are long.
and i see the sun in your eyes (and i see you in your son's eyes)
talljake + windclan firepaw.
and the winter comes (with howling wind)
Battles weren't supposed to be like this.
The thought echoed in Frostfur's mind, as she stood shoulder to shoulder with Brindleface at the entrance to the nursery.
Rosetail was outside, but she was an elder. If ShadowClan was attacking the nursery, they'd certainly spare no thought for an elder.
The kits cried. They didn't understand what was happening.
Outside, Frostfur watched Rosetail die.
"You stay," she said, and without giving Brindleface a chance to argue, she leapt out of the nursery.
"Blackfoot!" she hissed.
The ShadowClan deputy didn't respond, and Frostfur focused on avenging Rosetail.
And protecting her kits.
Battles weren't supposed to be like this.
They weren't supposed to end with Frostfur returning, blood still covering her, just to reassure them she was alright, only to stare in horror at their empty nest.
Brindleface stammered apologies. She was scouting a safe path to the nursery, she hadn't meant to leave them alone, only—
"It's not your fault, Brindleface," Frostfur said, her heart beating painfully fast. "Battles aren't supposed to be like this."

Hollykit made her first decision about the world early, like most kits:
The world was a loud place.
It didn't start that way, it started silent, and then quiet, but then it was loud.
There were so many cats, always around her, and she missed being alone, in the quiet.
She got used to it, eventually — of course she did — but sometimes it was just exhausting.

"Fireheart said you weren't my mother," Cloudpaw said. He looked up at her, pleading, and she took a breath to steady herself.
"Who nursed you?" she asked.
"You did."
"And who played with you?"
"Fernkit and Ashkit."
"And who do you come to when you have a nightmare?"
He flattened his ears, embarrassed, but still, muttered, "You."
Satisfied, Brindleface leaned down to touch noses. "I didn't give birth to you," she said. "That much is true. But Cloudpaw, that's not what it means to be a mother."
"He said he knows her," Cloudpaw said. "That she's his sister."
"That's what he told us," Brindleface said. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. You shouldn't have had to find out from him."
Cloudpaw shifted. "Is it okay if I want to meet her?"
"Of course it is," she said, purring. Brindleface wrapped her tail around him — he'd be too big for that, soon, and she wanted to take advantage of every chance she had — and licked his head. "It's okay if you want to know her."
"I'm not mad at you," he said. "I just...I don't know."
Brindleface sighed. Sometimes, it was easy to forget that Fireheart wasn't Clanborne. But telling a kit they were born to another was the prerogative of the queen, no one else. She had intended on telling him, but not yet.
"It's okay not to know," she said. "I'll always be here for you."
Cloudpaw purred. "Maybe, one day, you two can meet," he said, hesitantly. "If she's nice."
"I'd like that," she said. "If that's what you want."
Heathertail's School for Attractive, Murderous She-Cats
"I call this moon's meeting of the support group for Crowfeather's apprentices to order," Fernstripe said, her voicing bouncing off the walls of the tunnels.
"Say the full title," Heathertail said, flicking her tail.
"Do I have to?"
"It's important," Featherpelt said. "It's part of it."
"I call this moon's meeting of the support group for Crowfeather's unreasonably attractive apprentices to order." Fernstripe's ears folded back. "I don't like calling us that."
Heathertail flicked her tail again. "And how many cats tried to talk to you at the last Gathering?"
Fernstripe looked at her claws.
"That's not fair, Heathertail. You're the only one who can count past four."
"If you have to count past four, you qualify as unreasonably attractive." Heathertail licked her paw. "The sooner you accept what you are, the sooner you can focus on the real mission."
"Killing Crowfeather?" Fernstripe perked up.
"Exactly." Heathertail touched her nose to Fernstripe's shoulder. "There she is. Now, let's go over everyone's attempts for the month."
howling ghosts (they reappear)
Squirrelflight wakes up, and she smells Bramblestar.
Something is wrong; she's not supposed to be here.
What happened? Did she get captured? Did she forget?
Has it all been some kind of terrible dream?
She fights to keep her breathing slow, not wanting to wake him.
"Squirrelflight?" he whispers, and she flinches. "Squirrelflight, it's just me."
Yes, she thinks. That's the problem.
She extracts herself from him slowly, not wanting to look suspicious. His eyes are blinking awake slowly, and he's watching her.
"Where are you going?" he asks. "The sky is still dark."
"Just to the dirtplace," she says, and she slips out of their den.
Stormcloud is sitting vigil, and he doesn't question her when she slips out of the tunnel.
Squirrelflight tries to remember what happened. She had escaped him, hadn't she?
No, she was just in the Dark Forest. She's not there, anymore, she got out, with Bramblestar.
Squirrelflight closes her eyes, her heartbeat slowing. She slips back into their den. Bramblestar has already fallen back asleep, and she takes her place at his side, curling herself into the tightest ball she can.
i saw a face in the window of the house on high
Leafpaw was six moons old the first time she met a cat who wasn't Cinderpelt.
Cinderpelt cared for her in the quiet of their hollow, sweeping herbs out of her reach until she was old enough to understand.
She learned the scent of other cats by the prey she ate, but when she turned six moons, her introduction came time.
"There are so many of them," she whispered.
"I know," Cinderpelt said, her heart wincing. "You don't have to meet them all today," she said. "They just have to meet you."
She sat quietly by Cinderpelt as cat after cat came to greet them. Their names blurred, some appearances hanging to the names Cinderpelt had told her, but others fading.
"I greet you," said a ginger she-cat. "Cinderpelt, and Leafpaw."
"Well-met, Squirrelpaw," Cinderpelt said.

Jaypaw knows he is smaller than his siblings. It's hard to miss. He's not even as tall as Squirrelflight, and barely growing, and Hollypaw and Lionpaw have already surpassed her.
He tries not to let it get to him.
He stops growing first, only a paw's width taller than Squirrelflight. Hollypaw and Lionpaw become warriors, and his whiskers touch their shoulders.
It doesn't bother him like it used to. Hollyleaf and Lionblaze are warriors, and he's just a medicine cat's apprentice, too blind and too helpless to bother teaching to fight properly. He's no longer a part of their life, not in the same way. They don't play fight with him any more, they don't talk to him when they're squabbling over Cinderheart, and he wonders if it will always be this way.
If he will always be Jaypaw, their weaker, smaller, blind baby brother who they need to protect.
(He isn't. He becomes Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf dies, and Lionblaze stops talking to him. He keeps himself up as long as he can, because if he sleeps, it's only going to be worse, giving him a face to curse for granting his wish.)

Palebird was a tunneler.
That meant she built something permanent, something the Clan would rely on for seasons upon seasons, long after Palebird herself had passed on.
You could feel the life of the Clan in the tunnels. It was something the moor runners would never understand, what it meant to build something, to create something.
WindClan has barely any dens on the surface, and their camp had changed locations more than once. A warrior with no appreciation of the tunnels did not understand what it meant to last.
But Palebird did. As did her mother and father, and their parents before them, and so would Palebird's kits.
They would know what it meant to last in a world constantly pushing them forward.

"Congratulations," Crookedjaw said as the sun rose.
Willowbreeze purred. "You woke up at dawn just to break my vigil?"
"Maybe," he said. "But I made you a nest. Come sleep."
She stood, arching her back, and brushing against him as she walked towards his den.
"There's space for me?" she asked.
"Well," Crookedjaw said. "As long as you don't mind sleeping next to me."
Willowbreeze laughed. "Let's go sleep."

AU Masterlist Part 1
This is formatted for Discord. I will reformat it later.
***Half-Baked, Written Out, Unposted***
...
**Series 1 AUs**
...
**Just a Dream**- Firestar wakes up as a kittypet in a slightly different world than the one he left.
**Apprentice to Leader**- Firepaw gets dreams about SkyClan after he and Greypaw and the others free ShadowClan of Brokentail. He finds Ravenpaw and Barley, then goes to SkyClan. Whitestorm and Sandpaw follow him to Ravenpaw and Barley, find out the truth about Tigerclaw, and stuff gets real messy real fast.
**Cloudkit Gets Adopted For Real**- There are white cats n ThunderClan. They speak up for Cloudpaw and teach him their ways. Starring Whitestorm the tree-skipper and Frostfur the throat-ripper
**Firefang's Rise**- Rusty is a molly. That's it, that's all I've got.
**Jake Ges Involved** series- *BloodClan Variant*: Rusty, Princess, and Scourge (Blackie) get scooped up by Jake and taken to the forest. *Rusty Goes Looking Variant*- Rusty goes into the forest a few moons before Into the Wild canon in search of his father, who's disappeared. Originally looking for WindClan, he finds and stays with ThunderClan until they deem him old enough to leave them. He then continues his journey.
**Longtail's Shadow (series)**- Everything I hate about Warcats gets tossed out. Rusty has a relevant family, Longtail gets called out on his crap, dealings with other Clans are formally handled, there is an actual code that makes sense to their ways of life, StarClan has... some established rules, medicine cats either can't have family at all or can have kits, haven't decided yet.
**Ravenpaw's Stand**- Look, Ravenpaw was valid. The average kid wouldn't be able to do anything about a murder. But... what if he screamed at his mentor? What if Tigerclaw couldn't get rid of him so easily?
**Mistyfoot's Storm**- AKA why the fuck did Mistyfoot and Co go back to RiverClan when they tried to kill her?! Also, Stonefur lives. Is badly injured and loses his voice, but lives.
**Savior of Shadows**- StarClan intervenes when ShadowClan starts to go all dictatorship under Brokenstar. Prince of Egypt Plagues style with Nightpelt and Clawface as the ones confronting each other like Moses and Ramses did in the song.
**Deliver Us**- Nutmeg drops Rusty and Princess off in the forest because things are getting hairy in the city. They are found and raised by ShadowClan.
**She Will Watch Him Burn** AKA Confrontation- Goldenflower finds out the full extent of what Tigerclaw did and goes batshit in the Great StarClan Battle
**Switchpawed**- Rusty and Tigerclaw switch places. AKA Rusty is Clanborn and Tigerclaw is a kittypet because Pinestar figured "he can't be evil if I take him with me." Not sure what else changes but stuff changes.
**Strongest Survive**- Tigerclaw kills Bluestar and becomes leader. He makes Fireheart deputy to keep an eye on him. He institutes some harsh rules and the Clan is a lot like a frog in warm water. The grandkits of Fireheart and Sandstorm must navigate this world with their Stars-given "powers."
**Swiftpaw Lives**- And so does Brightpaw. Polycule ensues because turns out they both like Cloudtail and he likes both of them! But they're cousins so they clearly don't like each other that way. Cloudtail helps them adjust to warriorhood and life goes on.
**Make Greystripe A Better Friend**- What is says on the tin. GreystripexConsequences
**Stand Up: Reject the Deputy** - Fireheart is not cut out for being deputy and he makes this known. Bluestar doesn't care, and neither does anyone else. Until he yells a bit and runs off. Then they actually have to learn something about him and Cloudpaw.
**Warriors In All But Name**- Fireheart fights for the older apprentices to be made warrios. Bluestar refuses and chews him out. Unknown to both of them, the whole Clan hears.
**Stand Up: Pay Them No Mind**- Fireheart very obviously cannot handle the eputyship. While some notice and make snide comments, others step up and help him run the Clan. *"It's all paws in, Darkstripe, either get in where you fit in or get out." "And stop calling Cloudkit names. He's just a kitten."*

I have No Clue how i’d work it into an au or anything like that, but some kinda au where there is one ‘pure blooded family’ in each clan that’s clan-exclusive blood(cats that are clanborn, no rogues or outsiders) and are like royalty/leaders for their clan is a cool idea. Then bluestar, who’s kits ‘died’ and only successor could theoretically be whitestorm, picks fireheart instead
That sounds interesting. It would make more sense than having all these cross bred cats thinking they were completely clan born.

What's graystripe like in your au? oh oh oh! and the tiger family as a whole?? i rlly like ur au thank you for posting it
THNK UU AA
greystripe is very similar to how he is in canon- aside from watching from across the river as fireheart & ravensong start dating & feeling very left out despite not harboring any romantic feelingz 4 thm [deep down he kinda doez but hez not aware of this so] i MIGHT make him stay in riverclan literally just to shake it up but... idk... whn he was a kit & apprentice he liked trying 2 annoy beetlebite who quickly took the stance of pretneding this grey fluff doez not exsist bcuz as annoying as he waz beetlebite is fond of kitz n doez not like 2 be mean 2 thm. which resulted in a very grumpy warrior lounging in the clearing with a kitten splayed across his back, napping
N YEHAW so the funny thing is due to a technicality fireheart is apart of the tiger family in this lol but thtz besidez the point SO
tigerclaw & whitestorm hav a lot of romantic tension between thm, thy nevr actually date bcuz tigerclaw is emotionly constipated but whitestorm definitely playz a much bigger role in bramblepaw & tawnypawz life, despite tigerclaw not showing much intrest in whitestormz kitz
the thing about the tiger family is tht a lot of it would be heavily effected by the negative space where wht happenz aftr beetlebitez attempted murder will be..... but, again depending, tawnypaw probably stayz in thunderclan?
as for leopardfoot & whiteeye, thy dont like tht their kidz dont get along, leopardfoot doesnt like tht her mate brought a rogue into the clan, whiteeye doesnt like tht her mate treatz her apprentice & adoptive son verly coldly bcuz he waz not clanborn & tht she letz her son get away with mich worst..... but their relationship is so new n thy r both so desperate for it to work tht thy leave tht stuff unconfronted
beetlebite begrudgingly seez tigerclaw as sort of a brother, one he hatez & thinkz is sorta evil but like. not like his blood siblingz were any better so it makez sense, tigerclaw would sooner die thn evn consider beetlebite a brother....... but beetlebite will probly step up to be an uncle to his shitty adoptive brotherz kitz

Thunderclan!Princess and Smudge AU
Smudge joins thunderclan after running into Firepaw during his assessment. He loves his life as a kittypet, but like his friend he's scared of being fixed. Plus he sees how well Firepaw is getting along so he figures he should be ok too
Tigerclaw is not at all pleased by this and tries to argue, but Firepaw counters that it should be Bluestar who makes the decision. So they bring Smudge back to camp with them
Bluestar is hesitant at first but Firepaw reminds her that she said the clan needs warriors. She agrees and reluctantly accepts Smudge into thunderclan's ranks
Smudge is renamed Magpiepaw and is given to Spottedleaf to train. She needs an apprentice after all
A short while later, Magpiepaw decides he does not like being a medicine cat apprentice. Ravenpaw, however, he thinks would be better in his place. So the pair request a role switch. Magpiepaw is reassigned to Tigerclaw (much to his disappointment) and Ravenpaw joins Spottedleaf in the medicine den. Later Ravenpaw's training is picked up by Yellowfang and he is eventually named Ravensong (Cinderpaw/pelt still has her accident but stays a warrior since another medicine cat is not currently needed)
Tigerclaw is harsh on Magpiepaw, pushing him harder than most apprentices. But Magpiepaw can handle the tabby's aggression well, much better than Ravenpaw could. Tigerclaw is impressed by this but would never admit that to anyone. Secretly he prefers Magpiepaw to Ravenpaw
Moons later, he given his warrior name: Magpiefur. He is named alongside Sandstorm and Dustpelt
A few moons later Fireheart runs into his sister, Princess, in the forest. He starts to speak to her and tells her about the clans. Princess becomes intrigued, and asks to come home with her brother
Fireheart at first is adamant about letting his sister come to Thunderclan. She's pregnant, and it's Leafbare, how will she handle being a wild cat in such conditions?
Princess, however, is stubborn. She threatens to follow Fireheart whether he takes her willingly or not. Plus she says that with her in the clan, Thunderclan can have even more warriors once her kits are born
Not wanting to argue, Fireheart reluctantly leads his sister back to his territory
Bluestar seems annoyed that Fireheart has brought home yet another kittypet, and is ready to turn this one away. This is encouraged further by Tigerclaw as he states Fireheart is trying to ruin Thunderclan by introducing in more weak housecat blood
Princess steps forward and says Fireheart had nothing to do with her arrival here. She explains how even he tried to convince her to stay in Twolegplace, but she did not want to stay. It wasn't the life she wanted for her kits, especially when she now knew there was more to life than lazing around being pampered by twolegs
Magpiefur also steps forward to speak out against Tigerclaw's claim. He says that even though he and Fireheart may have been kittypets, they were just as strong and fought just as hard as any clanborn cat
Bluestar finally agrees, but gives Princess the same ultimatum that Lionheart had given Fireheart all those moons ago. She especially stresses the hardships of Leafbare and how dangerous it may be for her kits
Princess is willing to take the risk. If Fireheart and the clan's queens could handle it, then so could she
Though she is still not too pleased, Bluestar accepts Princess into their ranks. She promises to give Princess a warrior name after her kits are born and after she's completed training. Bluestar then assigns Fireheart to keep an eye on his sister and her kits, to make sure they don't fall back into their kittypet ways
Mousefur is assigned to be Princess' mentor. The two get along, their personalities bouncing off each others surprisingly well
A moon later, Princess has five kits. Cloudkit, Birdkit (Nami, calico molly), Applekit (Livy, torbie and white molly), Cricketkit (Zack, grey and white tabby tom), and Fogkit (Taylor, white and grey patched tom). The other queens help to look after them, mainly Brindleface, while Princess trains
A few moons later, she is named warrior: Larchfang. She remains a permanent queen, and is a fierce protector of young cats, especially kits.
Seasons later all of Larchfang's kits are named: Cloudtail (obviously), Birdpelt, Appleface, Cricketstripe, and Fognose. By this point Larchfang has taken a liking to Longtail and they will eventually become mates

Clanborn Riverclan Firestar AU:
The Bonehill scene, but the first time Stonefur says no, Tigerstar SMIRKS, and nods his head at Blackfoot, who dives forward, jerking Fireheart off his feet and slams the ginger tom onto the ground, claws digging into his throat.
"Choose," Tigerstar says, voice a smooth purr. "Your son or the apprentices. Who will die today, Stonefur?"
HNNNG
How could would it be if Stonefur, extremely conflicted between his son and his little niece and nephew thinks for just a moment about caving, about doing something he thinks is undeniably wrong, all the while Leopardstar is trying to interfere while being restrained but then Fire gives him some sort of signal, some kind of tell that he has it under control and he has to trust his son to be able to get out of it while Graystripe pulls off the rescue mission (let's just pretend he was there somewhere because he was Fire's gathering friend or something).

holy crap these are soooo much better than my old 2015 designs
Currently imagining a Warrior Cats arc 1 role swap AU where Greypaw ("Fluffy") is the kittypet and Firepaw is the Clan-born cat.
Other changes in the AU:
Firepaw's family are Clanborn too
Princess ("Leafpaw") leaves the Clan before their Warrior ceremony, and becomes a kittypet, then having Cloudkit, so that arc continues as it is in canon --Jake met Nutmeg/"Seedpelt" (Fire's mom) within the Clans
Willow is a rogue, having Darkstripe first with Tawnyspots. She gave Darkkit to his father, as she was certain a Clan wouldn't take her in. Tawnyspots brought the kit into ThunderClan with a story of 'finding a lost kit'. Willow then became a kittypet when pregnant with Greykit
(btw, I saw that Greystripe's father is now just "unknown" on the official family trees, so I feel that him having an unknown kittypet father works out, here. It used to be Patchpelt, but since he's been removed now, it works if Willow isn't related to Patchpelt whatsoever either. It’s not like Willowpelt or Patchpelt ever played a huge role in books where they were growing up - Spottedleaf and Redtail were the focused-on siblings out of the four. I think in the books Willow and Patch are never even mentioned as being siblings? Thus, Willow gets to not be a part of the family anymore lol since it doesn’t change anything important there)
Into The Wild events
"Fluffy" grew up with Willow's stories of his older half-brother, whom he thought very brave and lucky, and heroic, for living in the wild. So, he sought to do the same in Into The  Wild, and met Firepaw. Willow ended up coming with him, not wanting to lose another son this time.
Willow and Fluffy enter ThunderClan together, and Willow feels that a certain dark, striped cat looks very familiar... Tawnyspots had died at this point, and had told Darkstripe of his origins before he'd passed. Darkstripe, resentful at his heritage, is the one to fight Fluffy.
During the fight, Willow realizes that Darkstripe is indeed her son. Fluffy beats Darkstripe similarly to how Rusty beats Longtail in canon (it isn't Longtail in this scenario as I feel he is more Firepaw's rival), he becomes Greypaw
Wanting to stay with her sons, Willow pleads to become a part of the Clan as well, and is hesitantly accepted. She becomes Willowpelt, and similarly to how Firepaw was mentored by Bluestar, Tigerclaw, & Lionheart, Willowpelt is taught by Darkstripe (begrudgingly) & Whitestorm
At this current time, Lionheart is Firepaw's mentor, and thus while Willowpelt is educated by following along with Darkstripe & Dustpaw, and Whitestorm & Sandpaw, Greypaw is educated alongside Lionheart & Firepaw and Tigerclaw & Ravenpaw. similar to canon here.
During this time, Willowpelt manages to mend her relationship with her son Darkstripe slightly, but he still resents her past and her actions. Willowpelt also grows close to Whitestorm at this point, and he later becomes her mate to sire Sorrelkit, Rainkit, Sootkit - as in canon.
After a time of temporary mentorship, Greypaw is then eventually officially apprenticed to Bluestar, as Firepaw was in canon. Greypaw is probably going to one day be Greystar in this AU, if he's truly role-swapping with Firepaw. Lol
Fire and Ice & Forest of Secrets events
Still debating whether the Silverstream romance happens with Greystripe, or not. I think it still would. But then he’d truly go and pull a Bluestar and give up his kits to RiverClan to become deputy, and only Fireheart knows of all this. Silverstream remains alive during the birth, as she stays in the RiverClan camp instead of seeking out Greystripe like in the books - thus she was able to get medical attention as soon as her labour began.
Greystripe does not join RiverClan here, as the Wiki states “To avoid a battle, Graystripe brings Stormkit and Featherkit to RiverClan and decides to stay with them since they are the only living connections he has to Silverstream.“ Since Silverstream is still alive, they simply continue their secret meetings, and although he wishes to be with his family, he does not gain the desire to join RiverClan.
However, she did still suffer heavy blood loss and anemia, and was not able to fully recover and only got worse over time - especially considering that she still sneaks off with her kits to go see Greystripe in secret, instead of resting - so she does still die later on, before the kits are apprenticed.
Before she passes, Silverstream wishes for the kits to join their father in ThunderClan, as they’ll have no remaining kin in RiverClan after her passing. As her final action, she attempts to sneak out one last time to take them to Greystripe, but is far too weak due to anemia complications. Her best friend Mistyfoot finds her outside of the camp, as she was keeping a closer eye on her weakening friend. Silverstream tells Mistyfoot of who Featherkit & Stormkit’s father is, and is determined for her final action to be passing them on to their father. Mistyfoot believes the kits belong with RiverClan, but wants to honour her dying friend’s wish, and helps to get them all to the border.
Greystripe had been at Sunningrocks at the time, worried about the decreasing condition of his mate, plus he hadn’t been seeing her as often, and commonly waited near the area in case she arrived. The scene of her death is in the same place ad plays out similarly to Silverstream’s death in canon, with the exceptions that their kits and Mistyfoot are present, and it’s not a birth scene lol. Greystripe still panics and Fireheart fetches Cinderpaw (who is still med-apprentice, as Fireheart was still the one to suspect Tigerclaw, and Tigerclaw still tried to trap and kill him, causing Cinderpaw’s accident), with Tigerclaw in tow. Silverstream is too far-gone, however, and passes away with her kits and mate next to her.
Thus, Stormkit & Featherkit join ThunderClan, and Silverstream still passes away and is buried at the same area that she does in-canon. (and Cinderpaw is still traumatized the same way because she couldn’t help the dying cat)
Mistyfoot accompanies the group back to ThunderClan to ensure the kit’s safety on the way. Greystripe is devastated by the loss, and doesn’t keep it a secret anymore that he is a dad, and he dotes on his kits just, SO much, same as in canon haha. Anyway, ThunderClan finds out, obviously, about Grey’s half-clan babs, and Bluestar is initially furious (because oops, somebody made the same mistake she did! and omg, it was her own apprentice!!!) but Mistyfoot defends Silverstream’s family and tells Bluestar off for being so harsh while they’re grieving a loss. She says that TC should be grateful that ThunderClan is gaining two amazing cats, and they’re only here because of her best friend’s dying wish, and that she’d whisk them back to RC if they weren’t appreciated here. Bluestar then softens up at her (secret!!!) daughter’s words.
After Mistyfoot leaves and returns to RC, Bluestar enters the nursery where Greystripe and Fireheart are with the kits. (oh dude that sounds like Fire’s their second dad? i’m gonna do it. make em dads make em GAY parents and fire totally adopts storm & feather and grey has his bf to help him thru this extremely tough time UNLIKE IN CANON WHERE HE WAS ALL ALONE TO GRIEVE WTF ERINS) Anyway, Bluestar still explains the same as in canon how she’s mistyfoot and stonefur’s mother, etc, except in this version Fireheart isn’t the only one she tells, Greystripe now knows as well.
Fireheart & Greystripe are stretching their legs and taking a break from the nursery, with Fireheart’s apprentice Cloudpaw in-tow. The shit with Tigerclaw still goes down, but this time it’s Greystripe who saves Bluestar’s life (Fireheart heads straight for the nursery and guards Featherkit & Stormkit in this AU, so it’s Greystripe who sees Tigerclaw heading into Bluestar’s den) and she makes him deputy for multiple reasons - she sees her missed chances in him and wants him to have the full, happy life that she didn’t get the chance to. and she trusts him as much as she does Fireheart in this AU since Grey didn’t turn traitor in this one (and i mean he was her apprentice too so they’re pretty close!)
Rising Storm, A Dangerous Path events
Pretty standard role-swap AU from here as far as Greystripe and Fireheart are concerned, other than the fact that Fire is still Cloud’s mentor, that didn’t swap at all lol.
Fireheart isn’t stretched as thin as Greystripe is the deputy, leaving him more time for Cloudpaw’s training. Cloudpaw doesn’t behave as difficult as he does in canon about doing kittypet things. He’s still a lil shit though
Greystripe is healing quite nicely from Silverstream’s passing, as he is in his own familiar clan, has his children and his best friend BOYFRIEND with him, and has his deputy duties to thoroughly distract him and keep him on his feet. Bluestar is still degrading mentally, the same as in-canon, so he worries about her as well
Fireheart is still the one to find out about Tigerclaw and the dog pack, and their attack, and he is still the one to try and rescue Bluestar and be with her at her death along with Stonefur and Mistyfoot. Greystripe is with his kits at the time of evacuation, leading the Clan to safety as well
(This is such a cool contrast btw!!! omg cause the wiki says “After his leader's death, Fireheart looks at Graystripe. The dark gray tom dips his head in the deepest respect, and Fireheart is horrified because he realizes he is now the leader of ThunderClan, and has lost the easy friendship he shared with Graystripe.” and GOD my AU is like, holy shit, the exact opposite with their relationship. they are closer than ever! this is cool as hell)
The Darkest Hour events
Greystripe becomes Greystar. Mysteriously, he is not granted a 9th life, as the cat destined to give him that life is not present. He has no time to be confused, however, as the ceremony is still interrupted by a prophecy, as it is in-canon.
Whitestorm is still the one appointed deputy
Greystar is extremely conflicted and disappointed in his kin when he is forced to exile Darkstripe. Happens similar to canon, but it’s Greystar instead of Firestar of course
Not entirely sure yet what brings the gang over to RiverClan to save Misty & Stone from being executed. Also not sure if Stone is still going to be killed like in canon, or if I’ll let him live in this version.... I’ll figure it out tho
After Whitestorm dies, Fireheart is obviously appointed as Greystar’s deputy
Firestarheart’s Quest events
When Willowpelt dies in the beginning of the book, Greystar is obviously devastated, and has even more reason to stay with his remaining family during this time - hence, I did not swap his role with Fireheart’s role for this book’s journey.
Fireheart & Sandstorm still journey together to restore SkyClan
They become very good friends on the quest and do indeed still become mates and have Leafkit & Squirrelkit (Greystar sees them as much as family as he could! Cats are basically one big family community after all. Besides, with Fire and Grey’s relaxed and extremely close relationship, I don’t think that Grey would feel threatened or jealous over Sandstorm at all! So Fireheart can totally be Greystar’s bf as well as Sandstorm’s husband at the same time :D)

Hey, Trout how do you think a Tigerkin Firestar would deal with everything? Growing up with dad!Tiger, being apprenticed, ect. Just what are your thoughts?
I would play it similar but not quite how @bonefall set it up with his own AU Tigerstar's Fire. I like the aspect of Fireheart as a cat deeply inspired by the ideals of Bluestar as a mentor, a position of honor he only got to because of his dad's scheme in the first place, as well as the conflict with Swiftpaw as a littermate who is more in line with the heir Tigerclaw wanted to groom. I like those kinds of conflicts and how Fireheart would have to navigate between his perception of his strict but ultimately caring father and the fact he's an embodiment of the antithesis to the ideals his mentor passed down.
I wouldn't want it to end as Tiger's victory and the grand political upheaval that sets up the rival monarchies, however. Not only is it not my style to write about such seismic shifts, but I feel like in itself TPB's plot could lend itself well to a bittersweet resolution. With Tigerstar dead under Fireheart's claws, he comes to kill a part of his own childhood and now just remains the cleanup, the burying of it all.
I'm also compelled by the things y'all have brought up with regards to the pfurr dynamic I have in mind for Frostfur, Lionheart, Goldenflower, and Tigerheart. The idea that as he exposes his father, the one who although unstated it is pretty obvious was the tom who sired him, his mother would denounce him falsely as a sire and create a rift in their family compels me. I love writing about people navigating the complexities and conventions of social systems, and how these forces can serve as impersonal antagonists.
If you have anything more specific to ask feel free! Honestly clanborn Fireheart is one of my favorite things to ponder and theorycraft about so it's always very welcome!
