Edgar had always looked forward to this every year. Driving around the city during the Christmas holidays had long since become a tradition among him and his friends. He can see December bobbing his head to Christmas music as he drives, fingers tapping against the wheel while they wait on their turn to go at the traffic lights.

Rain is busy staring out the window at the various lights decorating the store fronts along the sides of the street they’re on, taking as many pictures as they can get before the car is moving again.

In the back, Ambrose has half-dozed off, hardly paying much mind to the scenery after about the first hour of their drive. None of them bother to try to wake him, figuring he needs the rest, and Edgar has to admit— he’s just happy Ambrose is able to sleep peacefully around them all.

The most he does is carefully drape his jacket across Ambrose’s lap before turning his own gaze out the window on his side, chin resting against a hand as he settles himself in to watch the vibrant Christmas lights go by once they’re on their way again, Christmas tunes still playing from the speakers.

Edgar finds himself grinning, happy simply to be in the company of his friends enjoying something so sentimental.

This morning Israeli snipers shot and killed my two family friends in an attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza. Nahida (Um Emad Anton) and Samar, mother and daughter, were walking to the Sisters’ Convent to use the only bathroom. One was killed as she tried to carry the other to safety. Their bodies remain strewn across the church courtyard. The water tanks and solar panels were also struck. We don’t know if they have enough water to survive. The Christian community in Gaza is on the verge of extinction. There are about 800 of us left, some sheltering in the Catholic church, some in the Orthodox church, and a few still in their homes in Gaza City. There are approximately 530 Christians inside the Holy Family, 60 per cent are women and children. My family has been sheltered there since St. Porphyrius Orthodox Church was bombed and my cousin was murdered. This is a targeted death campaign during the Christmas season on the world’s oldest Christian community. Earlier this morning, an Israeli tank fired on the Convent of the Sisters of Mother Theresa. The convent housed ~54 people with disabilities. The generator was destroyed, taking out electricity. Then two more shells were fired completely destroying the convent. Many of these people are now without the respirators they need to survive. Wesson wanders up to Nnoitra wearing reindeer antlers to yip at the young man and look very ready for the holidays. Adelha handing Nnoitra a Christmas present wrapped in gold paper and with a black bow on the top. Her smile bright as she tells Nnoitra, "May this bring your Christmas some extra warmth, Nnoitra. Wesson helped me pick out the pattern."

Inside the gift is a hand made quilt of winter trees. The quilt big enough to easily fit on a queen sized bed as Wesson woofs to wave a paw at Nnoitra. Adelha looking up at Nnoitra with genuine affection as she chuckles. "My cousins tend to tell me that the quilts I make for the family are ideal for warding away the cold. So this seemed like the perfect gift for you."

Well EXCUSE HIM for not being into the holiday spirit. It was true that last Christmas had been... Not great either, because his relationship with Grimmjow had been pretty bad at that point. Not bad as in toxic or whatever, but bad as in... Nnoitra could tell he was losing him. Now that he was all alone ( not really, he was crashing at Ikkaku's place ), he honestly felt even worse. He felt lonely and like there was no point to anything. Seeing people shop for Christmas presents... All the decorations around the city. FUCK he hated it all. There was so much happiness going around. For everyone. But not for him.

He cheered up a little bit as a well-known puppy came running towards him. It didn't seem like Adelha had any troubles getting into the spirit of Christmas, seeing as she had equipped Wesson with antlers. Nnoitra knelt down by habit, and pet the puppy. Caught off guard, he awkwardly accepted the present ( still kneeling down ), when Adelha handed it to him. He sure as shit hadn't expected to receive any presents this year. It was wrapped up all fancy, in GOLD and black. He had ZERO patience when it came to waiting to open presents, so even though he should probably wait until Boxing Day, he didn't. He was quick to open the gift, exposing the content.

Inside was a huge... Blanket? Nnoitra had never seen a blanket like this before. It had a gloomy brown pattern of dead trees ( perfectly fitting his mood, honestly ). It seemed warm. Nnoitra absolutely hated being cold so he was game for anything that would help him keep warm. He wondered how THE FUCK Adelha had managed to make it. Arts and crafts really were a complete mystery to him ( he couldn't even draw decent stick-figures if he tried ).

❝ I ain't family, but ya still made one 'fer me? ❞ Was he saying THANKS? In his own way, yeah. He was unsure of what to say or do in this situation. It was a while since anyone had done something this nice for him. As per usual when faced with kindness - he didn't know how to properly react. Adelha sure was a good friend.
