Mon jardin au 12 juillet 2023

Cultivez du phlox Salut à tous !! Cette année, je ne vous ai pas encore donné de nouvelles de mon jardin car j'étais pas mal occupé. En effet, j'ai vidé la plupart de mes carrés pour amender correctement la terre. Voilà, c'est décidé. Je vous propose une visite en parcourant les photos ci-dessous dans plusieurs galeries.

LE JARDIN POTAGER

Juillet 2023 est là et bien là, et voici un état des lieux en quelques photos "amateurs" (soyez indulgent) du jardin potager. Les photos courent du mois d'Avril à maintenant, montrant ainsi l'évolution des cultures.

LE JARDIN D’AGRÉMENT

Parce qu'il n'y a pas que ce qui se mange dans un jardin, voici le côté agrément du jardin. Fleurs ou autre plantes ornementales permettent d'avoir un endroit agréable à voir et à vivre. Voici quelques photos, toujours amateurs, sur le sujet.

Et pour terminer, voici l'abricotier en fleurs et avec ses fruits. Comme précisé ci-dessus, j'ai vidé la plupart de mes carrés afin d'amender la terre. Voici quelques tas pour vous donner une idée du chantier. La terre a été tamisée et mélangée avec du compost et du terreau. Elle a perdu sa couleur rouge originale. What STF fanfictions would you recommend?

This was a good question. I thought about it seriously.

I don't keep up with/read many stories on AO3. But there's one called "King Cedric the Great" by EustaciaStar. If you want a "Cedric took over the kingdom" story, this one is for you.

I can recommend a lot of stories on Fanfiction.net.

If you like Hugfia, pinkscarlet08's stories are for you. They're funny and heartwarming.

I will always recommend AquaTurquoise's stories. Start with her first  STF story, "Super", and make your way to the last one. Her stories are fluffy, funny, and so wonderful. Some may be a bit upsetting, but there is always something sweet in every one, regardless of the situation. Aqua has written for a number of characters, so there's something for everyone.

I would also always recommend NerdsinaTree. Her beautiful stories have the power to make me ship just about anything. They're written with pure love and dedication. Her ongoing story, "The Cursed Wand", is a masterpiece in and of itself. There are just so many emotions in that story. It's just exquisite!

Individual story recommendations...

"We Remain" by agentgiggles27 is a charming story of Sofia growing up after a tragedy. It's full of drama, friendship, and love.

"Love Engulfs" by Christophine is another story of Sofia growing up, this time as a war rages between magic users and non magic users. It's full of friendship, romance, and heartbreak.

"Forever and Always" by Disneyholica24. Yet another story of Sofia growing up. This story starts off right where the show ended. It's a truly beautiful story of a young girl learning the trials of getting older with a few adventures along the way.

"Book 1, Enchanted Tales of Sofia the 1st: Wysteria's Edge" by AnyaFyre. This is an AU of the show taking place when Sofia is older.  It's full of suspense  and mystery.

"The Best of Intentions," "Jealousy," and "The Ties That Bind" by PrisoneroftheMind are all superb, although the last two are very intense and have a few things that might be upsetting. They all have good amounts of drama.

There are many, many others I could recommend. But it would take ages.

Christophines Farcies au Crabe (Crab Stuffed Christophines)

I am still nostalgic of last year’s holiday in the Caribbean, it seems, and I find myself recreating dishes I’ve eaten in Guadeloupe more often than not! To be fair, everything I tasted on the island was delicious, so why not indulge? On our second day in Saint-François, we ate Christophines Farcies au Crabe; so here you go, I made some! And quite fittingly, the current heat wave is reminiscent of a West Indies Summer; perfect flashback, I say!

Ingredients (serves 4):

2 large christophines (chokos)

2.5 ounces stale bread

4 spring onions

1/2 red chili pepper

150g crab meat

salt and freshly ground black pepper

1/2 lime

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg

1 large egg

Halve christophines, and plung in a large pot of salted boiling water. Cook until just tender, 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, cube stale bread and place in a food processor. Process until you have rather fine breadcrumbs. Transfer breadcrumbs to a small bowl; set aside.

In the food processor, combine two whole spring onions and the white part of the two others, saving green part for later, and red chili pepper. Process until finely chopped. Transfer to a small bowl as well. Set aside.

Preheat oven to 410°.

Once the christophines are cooked, drain and let cool. Remove the white seed in the middle, and scoop the flesh out into food processor, saving the skins. Process until puréed.

Spoon christophine purée into a large bowl. Grate in the zest of the lime. Season to taste with  nutmeg, salt and freshly ground black pepper, and stir in 2/3 of the breadcrumbs and all of the chili mixture. Flake in crab meat. Finally break in the egg, and mix, until well blended.

Place empty christophine skins onto a lightly oiled baking dish, and fill generously with crab mixture. Sprinkle evenly with remaining breadcrumbs, and place into the hot oven. Bake, at 410°, for 35 minutes or until nicely golden. 

Serve Christophines Farcies au Crabe hot.

La culture de la cyclanthère

présentation

La cyclanthère fait partie de la grande famille des cucurbitacées tout comme la courgette ou la pastèque. En fait, il s'agit d'une cousine excentrique de cette famille. Elle compte une quarantaine d'espèces. Elle donne des fruits qui sont comestibles Elle s'appelle également concombre des Indes, Achocha, Margose Lisse, concombre des Andes ou bien encore Cyclanthera pedata qui est son nom scientifique. Il s'agit d'une plante ornementale. Son entretien est facile et son besoin en eau est moyen. La cyclanthère est très gélive car en dessous de 5° elle meurt. Elle a une capacité de s'accrocher sur n'importe quel support grâce à ses nombreuses vrilles. Sa floraison s'étale du mois de juin au mois d’août. Ses fleurs sont de couleur blanche avec des nuances de vert. Ses fruits apparaissent à la fin de la saison estivale dès que les jours commencent à raccourcir, comme c'est le cas de la christophine.

culture

La cyclanthère se sème au chaud dans des godets du mois de mars au mois de mai (de la même manière que pour les courgettes ou les melons). Dès qu'il n'y a plus de risque de gelées, transplantez-les dans votre jardin directement en pleine terre. Mais pour effectuer cette opération, attendez que le sol se réchauffe. Espacez chaque sujet de deux mètres afin que cette plante puisse bien se développer. Si vous n'avez pas envie de la semer, vous pouvez la trouver en godets dans certaines jardineries La cyclanthère a, à peu près les mêmes exigence que son cousin le concombre. Elle se cultivera donc comme cette plante légumière. Choisissez-lui un emplacement ensoleillé sur un sol riche. Prévoyez un support comme un grillage par exemple ou autre afin qu'elle puisse grimper dans de bonnes conditions. Si vous avez un emplacement que vous n'utilisez pas, vous pouvez la cultiver sans support. Elle colonisera l'espace en rampant. C’est un excellent couvre-sol.

entretien

Maintenez-la au frais (sans pour autant l’inonder). Ensuite laissez-la vivre sa vie. Aucune taille est nécessaire pour cette plante.

parasites & maladies

La cyclanthère peut être contaminé par l’oïdium. En prévention, je vous conseille de pulvériser du purin de prèle à la saison printanière.

multiplication

La multiplication de la cyclanthère s'effectue par semis spontanés. Dans ce cas, vous pouvez récupérer les jeunes plants à la saison printanière pour les planter ailleurs. Mais vous pouvez effectuer vous même le semis en récupérant les graines dans les fruits arrivés à maturité (avant que ces derniers n'explosent). Étalez les graines sur un papier journal ou bien sur une feuille d'essuie-tout afin de les faire sécher. Et pour terminer, stockez-les dans une boite hermétique ou dans un sachet en papier kraft. De cette façon les graines se conserveront 3 ans.

La cyclanthère aime se développer toute seule. Mais vous pouvez planter à son pied des plantes basses comme par exemple des violettes ou bien des ficoïdes vivaces.
