Christmas Tree Lane, Huntington Dr. at St. Albans, San Marino, CA 91108

It’s a pretty (free) display of holiday lights. The lights adorn very tall trees, so it looks very dramatic. The display covers one block. It’s San Marino, so the homes are mansions and the streets wide. Apparently the display is just about the same every year.

Park your car and take a quick walk to see the trees up close. There are other tastefully decorated homes in the area, so drive around to see those as well – and maybe add Christmas Tree Lane in Altadena and Hastings Ranch to your itinerary.

idk if this is universal but i love when garden centers and hardware stores have Christmas displays that get so complex they become their own attraction. one of our local garden centers has started advertising their display as it's own event and my favourite part is that you can be looking at their elaborate miniature Christmas village with a moving train set and turn the corner to see 2 for 1 deals on ceramic plant pots in the same aisle

Because the Two Trees are dead and Varda isn’t handing out blessings anymore, the new Silmarils aren’t quite as stunning as the ogs, the same way mass produced tech is never as fancy as the prototypes. Less psychically devastating hope beam and more sexy SAD lamp. Those bright white beams they put on new cars. Every elf under 3000 has a hi wattage ultra diamond or three on them and their elders can’t decide if it’s horrifically disrespectful or so voiddamned funny.

hey uh. people who drive around to look at christmas lights and get out to check out displays and stuff. please do not blare music with your windows down or talk so loud you’re yelling. with all due respect, it’s nine pm and we didn’t agree to this, our neighbor is just like that.

again. I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT drive down residential streets fucking blasting music at night. Try not to yell. I don’t care if you’re having the time of your life and feel festive. people do actually live there. and we want to sleep.
