Have y’all thought about how heart wrenching it was for Grover and Annabeth when Percy closed the door behind him? I know they were both immediately brought back to the night they couldn’t save Thalia. They BOTH lost one of their best friends and felt like they were going to lose Percy the same exact way. I think about how Grover promised Sally to protect her son as her last wish. He finally got a second chance to be a protector, just for it to be ripped away. I think about how Annabeth felt the same way. How, even though their friendship was just beginning she knew she didn’t want to lose him. “Don’t do this to me” she has already lost her best friend!!!!!!!!!! She couldn’t think about losing another that same way. I think about how Percy felt bad that Athena had punished Annabeth for HIS actions. This was how he was going to make it right. He would fight the chimera because it was HIS fault Athena allowed Echidna into her temple. I think about how they were BEGGING Percy to open the door. How helpless they felt as they were about to lose their already dying best friend. They don’t even know if seaweed brain is alive or not right now!!!

Uh. Y'all.

Giant lotus blossom on the roof? Called the "LOTUS" Hotel and Casino? Like, you could not have known about the Lotus Eaters story and NOT have connected the dots. It's so obvious to anyone who knew about the lotus eaters.

Not to mention, it's pretty obvious the changes regarding how fast the trio catch onto the myths they're facing are meant to give them a feeling of helplessness when, despite doing EVERYTHING right, they still failed to meet the deadline.

They did everything to the best of their abilities, and STILL failed to beat the Solstice. It's clearly intentional, not some wack job choice they made for no reason. There's an intention here, and it's a dam good one, if I do say so myself.

Please just enjoy the show 😭

A less talked about aspect of the new series is how much they focus on non magical people and their reactions to the kids and the monsters, reminding the audience that regular people don't see what they see and a lot of the weird things that happen to them and the things that they do look absolutely batshit

I adored the Chimera design but for some reason it doesn't look scary enough. Like. I feel like if Percy gave it chin scritches it would roll over and ask for tummy rubs. It was just really cute

Gotta say, I REALLY loved the decision to turn Echidna- Mother of Monsters- into a stereotypical suburban mom

was thinking about this and. while Percy choosing Annabeth because (he thought) she wouldn’t hesitate to push him down a flight of stairs if the mission required it Does parallel Annabeth’s hesitation to push him down the stairs in the Arch (allowing him to push her down instead) — he wasn’t just talking about pushing and stairs, he was saying ‘because she wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice me’. you know, just like how he didn’t think they could ever be friends.

but what does she try to do when it comes down to it? she doesn’t leave Percy to the Chimera, she tries to sacrifice herself. she was ready to push herself down a flight of stairs so the others could keep going. (only Percy didn’t let her.)
