How a Chicago Attorney Can Advocate for Your Child
The birth of a child is a momentous occasion marked by joy and anticipation. However, when complications arise, it can lead to traumatic experiences for both the newborn and the parents. Birth trauma injuries are distressing, and seeking legal assistance becomes crucial to navigate the complex terrain of medical malpractice. In Chicago, attorneys specializing in birth trauma cases play a big role in advocating for the rights and well-being of affected families.
Birth trauma refers to injuries sustained by a newborn during the labor and delivery process. These injuries can range from bruising to severe, involving conditions like cerebral palsy or nerve damage. Parents can look for legal recourse when these injuries result from medical negligence or malpractice.

The Role of a Chicago Attorney
Chicago attorneys specializing in birth trauma cases bring a unique blend of legal expertise and compassion to their practice. They understand the emotional toll that birth trauma takes on families and approach each case with sensitivity. Here's how they can help:
1. Legal Consultation and Case Evaluation:
Chicago attorneys offer initial consultations to understand the circumstances surrounding the birth trauma. They meticulously evaluate medical records, consult with medical experts, and assess the viability of a medical malpractice claim.
2. Expertise in Medical Malpractice Laws:
Birth trauma cases fall under medical malpractice. Chicago attorneys specializing in this area are well-versed in the laws and regulations on medical negligence. This expertise is crucial in building a robust case for the affected family.
3. Gathering Evidence and Building a Case:
Successful legal outcomes hinge on the strength of the evidence presented. Legal professionals work closely with medical experts to gather evidence that establishes a connection between birth trauma and medical negligence. This evidence may include expert testimonies, medical records, and other relevant documentation.
4. Negotiating with Healthcare Providers:
In many cases, a resolution can be reached through negotiations rather than a protracted court battle. Chicago attorneys advocate for their clients during negotiations with healthcare providers and insurance companies to secure fair compensation for the child's injuries and the family's emotional distress.
5. Court Representation:
Lawyers are prepared to take the case to court when negotiations are not resolved satisfactorily. Their courtroom expertise ensures a strong presentation of the chance to secure justice for the affected family.
Seeking Justice for Birth Trauma Injuries: A Family's Right
Birth trauma injuries not only impact the child but reverberate throughout the family. A Chicago child birth injury lawyer specializing in birth trauma cases recognize the profound emotional and financial toll these incidents can take. By navigating the legal complexities, they aim to provide families with a sense of justice and the economic resources to support their child's ongoing care.

Oh my goodness, I love the yan lawyer husband so much like ARGH, that man bro
If you don't mind me asking, how would yan lawyer react if darling dies during pregnancy? What if the darling gives birth to a girl/boy who looks A LOT like darling? Would Yulian get mad at the kid or dote on the kid a lot?
I'm just so in love with that man <33
Hehehehe, more people loving bby Yulian... Nonnie, I think you should lower your expectation on this piece of a trash called father. (Really... there are 2 trashy yan father, him and Eleanor). That's my warning ya'll.
In one of the many lives Yulian had lived before he reached the Utopia...
Darling died from delivering their first son...
And he went mad again. My guy threw the baby into the ground and it was indeed a miracle the baby had no serious injury (really, the dice enjoys torturing him to madness). In the end, he did take care of the child, materially and not affectionally.
He was so close to end everything by massacring the entire people in the hospital including him and the child but he had no choice but to play along until his time was up.
Killed all the doctors that were responsible for your delivery, his son and himself before transmigrating himself into another tales.
In another time, where Darling survived and they got a son and a daughter.
Don't get him wrong, he still dislikes children. One wrong roll of the dice and they would take your life. But the daughter does resemble you more than himself unlike his son, so he was more lenient toward the second born (still not as affectionate as what a father should be unless you are around him)
Yes, he acted like he loved them both dearly whenever you were around and the first born was just as smart as his father. He knew they were doomed should you ever be gone.
Yes, the boy was jealous of his sister, receiving a bit of real affection from their father just because she resembles her mother more than him. And somehow, this would become a problem in the dystopia later, troubling Yulian from reaching the utopia.
Ehe, darling died.
What now? He had no responsibilities to keep up with his farce anymore. It's back to what happened in the first time. Except that he still favored the second born a bit more than the first born without him realizing it. He saw you in her and he was conflicted about it.
Perhaps she would be a perfect vessel for you when she matured? Should he take good care of her before he shot everyone to death again?
And yes, he took great care of her and it sparked envy in the first born. Great, he shouldn't have played favorite ^^ Now he has to take care of this piece of shit for holding him back from his utopia.
--Log
'A man who killed his own blood and flesh, what different did he make from his Father?'
'If only utopia existed then he wouldn't have to fall into madness. Traveling in <Time>, yearning for a <Finale>.'
'Just to resurrect his wife, my child, you have disappointed her. Did you not promise to never upset her?'
'The first born was there, with the second born in his hand by the Gate of the Graveyard. He wouldn't let him pass. He wouldn't let him take his sister. He wouldn't let him have things in his way. Because he loathed him.'
"Children like you are nothing but decorations to me. It affects me in no sense at all, but if she wants you two to exist then I have no choice but to force my way through with you two."
"Hey Father, you know... are we even human? The reason why Mother died when she birthed me, it was because we were all artificial! Alpha, is truly a wonder. And then, Mother survived in another life, with me and my sister. Kekeke... you killed Mother and reformed her into a human right?"

Detours to you - ch 5
I have a day off and it's the perfect time to post. I wrote a lot thins morning and I think I am about 2 or 3 chapters away from the ending.
For now I' ll leave you with this chapter
Tumblr media
The following morning Rowan stood in front of a fancy building where his friend Vaughan had his law firm. He had texted him the night before for help after the exchange with Aelin. He wanted to ask an opinion to his friend and see if there was a road available without going through a full custody battle. He wanted to be in his daughter’s life but Aelin was settled on fighting him on that front.
He took a deep breath and entered the building. In front of his friend’s office he knocked and waited to be invited in.
“Rowan! So the gossip is true, you are back!”
“Indeed I am.”
“Look at you,” Vaughan pointed at his uniform “Chief nonetheless. How does it feel?”
“Still adjusting,” he admitted.
Both men sat down and Vaughan relaxed in his chair “Before we start, it’s my obligation to tell you that I deal in criminal law. If you decide to really go ahead with this, I would suggest you to get a family law lawyer and I can help you with that.”
“I just need some counselling for now.”
Vaughan nodded “Your situation is complicated. In case of divorce or separation the parents can agree on joint custody, physical, legal or both. But you and Aelin are not divorced or separated which complicates things.”
Rowan nodded.
“As it stands now Aelin is the sole legal guardian which means that it’s up to her to decide how much access you can have to Maya.” He explained “As it stands you have a very weak claim.”
“Surely the fact that I was lied to will count. The fact that I want to be involved in my daughter’s life must weigh something. I was robbed of five years of her life.”
“If you go to court you will have to prove that your presence in Maya’s life would be beneficial.”
Rowan groaned “Of course, I am the father.”
“Yes, but the judge will consider how this will affect Maya. I assume you haven’t told her yet?”
Rowan shook his head “No, Aelin wants me to be just a friend for now.”
“They will consider all of this. Assess if your job will allow you to look after her, if you can provide for her. But more importantly,” he paused “if Maya does not want you in her life that will likely block any kind of access to her.”
“How on earth am I going to build a rapport with her if I can’t be with her?”
Vaughan nodded “I suggest that you and Aelin take some time to discuss all of this. Try to create a plan, a schedule, but most of all tell Maya as soon as possible that you are her father.”
“Aelin will not agree to that.”
“In my humble opinion at the moment she sees you as a stranger who knows her mum, with a very superficial relationship. The moment you tell her the truth that’s when the real thing can develop.”
Rowan let out a ragged breath “This is so fucked up.”
Vaughan chuckled “Oh yes. That’s why I’d rather put criminal behind bars than witness parents fighting over who has the right to the children. It was enough to hear the horror story from Lorcan’s parents divorce battle to actually put me off family law completely.”
“One more thing, do you know if Aelin has added your name to the birth certificate? Because that could be a game changer.”
Rowan shook his head then looked at his watch “I have to go to work. I have a meeting in an hour. Thanks. I have a lot to consider. And I will do some investigating on the birth certificate.”
Vaughan stood and patted him on the shoulder “Talk it out Ro. Do not involve lawyers and keep me posted.”
“Will do.”
Rowan left the building and went back to work mulling over Vaughan’s words.
*
That morning Aelin’s bookshop had a special guest. Maya was staying at the shop with her. She had kept her home from school for a day. She hadn’t slept much because of her injury and when she suggested to go to her grandparents, her daughter had refused so she took her to work. Maya loved the bookstore and presently was sitting at the children’s table and showing off her cast to other kids. She was holding court that it was a hockey injury.
Aelin smiled but her protective senses kicked in. She had also spent the night thinking about the argument she had with Rowan. She had not liked the comment with the telescope, as if he was inviting her to his place. Maya was her responsibility and he should pass any ideas through her first. She was going to allow him in but on her own terms.
Maya ran to her “Mama, look at my drawing!”
Aelin grabbed the paper and gasped. It was a drawing of her and Rowan on the ice “Can you give it to Rowan?” Her heart raced. One meeting was that all it took for Maya to get attached to him?
“I will do the next time I see him. I am sure he will love it.”
“He is funny.” Maya grinned and walked away happily back to the drawing table.
“What is that?” Asked Lysandra walking to the counter and noticing the drawing.
“Maya drew a present for Rowan.”
“How do you feel about that?”
“Torn. He is too pushy.”
Lysandra sighed “Or maybe he is just a father eager to spend time with his daughter,” she added “You can’t blame him for being smitten already. She is the cutest.”
“That she is.”
“Or maybe it’s all down to the fact that you still have feelings for him?”
Aelin scoffed hard “No.”
“Ae, you two had been together almost forever and I am sure that if he hadn’t left, you’d be married by now. Aeds told me that he caught Rowan looking at jewellery stores online for engagement rings. I think that he confessed him he was waiting for the store to be completed and then propose in here.”
Aelin froze. Rowan was going to propose in her store. Her hand went to her mouth and stopped the sob that was fighting to be let free.
“Why you never told me?”
“He was away, it seemed pointless, but now…” added Lysandra quietly “Maybe it’s worth try and pick up from where you left off. For Maya’s sake too.”
Aelin ran a hand through her hair “my mum said the same thing.”
Lysandra grinned “we all know that Evalin is a wise woman.”
“Ae, you two broke up because he had to leave and long distance was going to be hell, not because you stopped being in love,” Lys spotted some customers “Think about it.” And walked away.
Aelin stared at the computer and at the order that was still open and ready to be sent.
Lys was right they had broken up because the situation was difficult, not because they had fallen out of love. It had taken her a long time to stop missing him and she had a feeling that with time she had only pushed him at the back of her mind but never forgot him. How could she? Rowan had been the love of her life and her home. And in that instant she felt an ache in her soul that she had thought had gone forever.
Her soul was missing its other half and Aelin knew that everything was all of a sudden a lot more complicated.
*
Rowan went back to his office after his meeting with the commissioner. Chin on his folded hands he stared at the screen in front of him. He was looking at the proposal they had discussed together but his brain was not focusing. He kept thinking about the fight he had with Aelin and the chat he had with Vaughan. His friend had given him some good suggestions.
He was about to type something on his keyboard when someone knocked at the door.
“Chief, I bring some of the reports from yesterday from the firehouses.” The woman dropped the documents on his desk.
“Thank you, Lyria.”
Rowan ignored the pile of documents staring at him and started doing some research on family law and the rights of the father in an unmarried couple. He read a few websites and all told the same line. Unless he was married to the mother or had obtained a parental responsibility agreement by a court he would have no rights. He wanted to scream. Then he remembered what Vaughan had said about the birth certificate and started to investigate on the city council how to access the registrar for births. He knew the date so at least he had that. It took him a good fifteen minutes of digging before finally finding the registrar. He registered, followed all the steps and reached the portal to retrieve the certificate. He typed Maya’s name and surname and then her date of birth. A moment later a document appeared in front of him. On the mother line there was Aelin’s name. He was ready for an empty space near the father’s section but he gasped in surprise when he saw his name. Rowan Whitethorn stood there in black capital letters.
He saved the document quickly and then sat back against his chair. Aelin had registered him as the father. It really was a game changer. The law stated that if the father appeared on the birth certificate he’d have same rights as the mother. Why had Aelin added him? He was even more confused, but at least now he knew that he was not totally powerless. A sense of relief washed over him. He still had to convince Aelin that he was serious about wanting to know Maya. It had only been a few days and they were all still adjusting to the new situation. He might give her some days to think about it.
A small break before trying again.
*
After Maya was fully asleep in bed, Aelin climbed in the attic and grabbed a box that had not touched in five years. It contained some of the things that reminded her of Rowan. Of the years they had lived together in that house, the dreams. After the break up she had stashed all the stuff away.
She sat on the floor and removed the lid and their past flooded back like a tsunami. A green foam finger of the first game of the Stags they had watched together, the CDs he had burned for her, movie tickets and photo albums, a lot of them. She picked one and opened it. It was their first trip to Wendlyn, when she had met his parents. His clan had welcomed her in with open arms. One one page there was a picture of Alasdair, Rowan’s dad, hugging her. Tears welled in her eyes. She had loved the man, he was caring and had loved her like a daughter from day one. There were pictures of their trip the the southern islands when they had rented a boat and explored the continent. She scrolled through the photos and saw one of her sitting on the bow of the boat while still docked and then noticed the name Maya. Memories came rushing back of the night when, while moored in the middle of the sea, they lay on the deck, made love under the stars and Rowan confessed that he liked the name and they should use it if they ever had a daughter. After her daughter was born the nurse had asked her if she had a name and Aelin had blurted out Maya almost on instinct.
Then, at the bottom of the box she found a letter with a sonogram attached to it. With trembling hands she read it.
Dear Rowan,
While I am writing this, you are probably on the boat towards Wendlyn, towards home.
I am sorry. I want you to know that breaking up things was not easy. I wish I could take it back because it hurts like hell. You are my home and should be here.
But I had to let you go because your mum needs you and I can’t be selfish, not when you have just lost your father.
And now, more than ever, I understand this since I discovered that I am pregnant with your child. I am mad at fate. We had dreams of a family and now that is happening I had to let you go.
I am sorry.
I hope one day you will be able to forgive me.
I love you,
To whatever end.
Then another letter with a picture of a newborn Maya
Dear Rowan,
You are a dad. Maya is born and she is the most beautiful gift I could have asked for.
Yes, Maya like the boat. I listen, see?
She is just like you, her hair is silver as yours as she has your piercing green eyes.
A bit of you, when you are away.
I miss you but I am too scared to call you because the secret I kept from you is too big.
I miss you so much.
And another with a picture of an older Maya
Dear Rowan,
Maya turned one today.
It’s been over a year since I let you go and… I miss you. She said her first word and she crawls all over the house. I baby-proofed our flat because in my head I had your voice telling me to make the house safe. You are always with me.
I am sorry. I don’t know if you will ever read these letters but I just need to tell you that I am sorry. I hope that you are happy. That your mum is fine.
And the dreamer in me hopes to see you again.
I love you. I will always love you.
At the bottom of the letter there was a small hand print. It was Maya’s.
She had forgot of all the letters she wrote to him. Most of them had pictures of Maya and tales of some important milestones.
One by one she grabbed all the letters and set them aside.
Then she climbed back down and placed the pile in the drawer of her nightstand.
To whatever end… she whispered.
A promise that they had exchanged a long time ago.
A promise that she had broken.

Houses in Sidereal Astrology
The most important part of astrology is the planets and the second most important thing is the houses. The houses in a chart show you where the planets are, what they’re doing, and who they’re doing it with. They provide the context for the story being told by the planets and ground them in reality. Without an exact time to indicate the rising sign of a chart, knowing the houses is impossible.
House significations can change depending on the branch of astrology you’re engaging with, such as mundane, natal or horary, or the zodiac being used such as sidereal or tropical. And of course, each astrologer is going to have their own tried and true preferences that they swear by.
Here’s mine.

Gordon Gresley
The grumpy man himself! He will personally bitch-slap ab*sive parents in court. Why? Well for that you have to read on, but it won’t be pretty.
Big fat trigger for: Ab*se!
Gordon Gresley was born on the 4th of April 1950 in Doncaster. His father was a high class lawyer and a well respected member of society. But Gordon and his siblings knew a way different man. He beat his children for the slightest bit of misconduct or what he perceived as it. Gordon often took the blame to protect his younger siblings. Gresley seniors first wife terrorized her twin daughters Polly and Bonnie and due to that when Gordon ran away he often took them with him. Most often he found refuge at his aunts(Henry’s mother) place. She took care of their bruises and other injuries. Gordon despite thinking his cousin was a bit weird liked Henry way more than his own brother Scott. Scott was their father’s favorite and excluded from the harsh punishments. Mr. Gresley remarried two times. Resulting in Gordon having a lot more siblings than most. But there might be even more half-siblings, because Gordon’s father was not a really faithful husband. He pressured Gordon into becoming a lawyer while Scott was allowed to pursue his acting career.
Henry and Gordon ended up in the same college and were roommates. And after graduation realized both needed to work on themselves and went to therapy and promised to never marry. Although for different reasons. Gordon’s father passed away in his 40s and Gordon reluctantly took over the law firm. He had specialized in family right prevent that even more kids go through the same hell like he did. He adopts an Irish Wolfhound from a shelter as a companion and loves the big scruffy dog. He named him Nigel. He’s successful in his career and woman admire him, but he doesn’t want a relationship. His assistant is James who is rather flirty what irritates Gordon to no end.
When he learns that Henry and Charlie plan on marrying he’s furious and feels betrayed. But in the end he realizes how happy his cousin and best friend is. Although when he first met Charlie their conversation was littered with subtle insults.
But the chaos was not over. Shortly after Henry and Charlie adopted their little boy a ten year old brat suddenly was on Gordon’s doorstep. His name Thomas Billington. Gordon not knowing what to deal with a child dragged the kid to Scotland and asked Henry for advice. But that’s another story because there’s more.
One day a woman shows up at Henry’s place while Gordon is there. Her name Viktoria Henschel. She reveals the Gordon is her son. Gordon’s father seduced her in 1949 and for “favors” gave her extra rations. When she ended up pregnant old Gresley concocted a plan which involved bullying Viktoria into giving her the child, taking it to England, force his current wife to play it off as hers and forge the birth certificate. Viktoria as proof has kept the original Berlin one and copies of the letters she tried sending him. And Gordon remembered that his father burned letters from Poland, later Germany. (Viktoria for a few years lived in Poland). He at first was devastated but after a while was happy he’s not related to the woman who terrorized his sisters all those years ago.
Gordon has a strong sense of justice and despite his grumpy exterior is kind and helps out people in need. He despises those who wanna leach off others. For years he was uncertain about his sexuality but thanks to Boris (BoCo) he can embrace being bisexual. And he learns to handle Thomas although he causes Gordon a good amount of extra grey hair.

have you ever heard of last kiss by pearl jam ? well, it describes DOMINICK WOLFE to a tee ! the forty-four year old owner + bartender at wolfe’s den was spotted browsing through the stalls at portobello road market last sunday, do you know him ? would you say he is more reticent or more dutiful instead ? anyway, he reminds me of of framed report cards hanging up alongside business and liquor licenses , banana pancakes and retro cartoons on the couch on a sunday morning , faded prison tattoos curling out from under long sleeves and stiff collars , a trans flag strung up in the window of a hole-in-the-wall dive bar , and scorching your tongue on your first sip of coffee. maybe you’ll bump into him soon !
Tumblr media
STATS.
name: dominick wolfe nickname(s): dom gender & pronouns: cis male / he + him orientation: tbd    age: forty-four date of birth: 27 april, 1978 zodiac: ☼ taurus ☽ capricorn ↑ taurus occupation: bartender + owner of wolfe’s den positive traits: responsible + protective + adaptable + compassionate negative traits: taciturn + gruff + stubborn + emotionally unavailable
HISTORY.
TW: drugs + alcohol + crime + car accident + injury + death
dom grew up on the wrong side of the tracks, if you will ; growing up low income and with absent parents meant dom got involved in the distribution and sale of illicit drugs from the time he was a young teen and had developed a bit of a name ( and a record ) for himself by the time he hit his twenties ; used the money he made to pay for a flat for himself and his grandmother, the woman who raised him ; she knew what he did and turned a blind eye, only urged that he make sure he stayed safe
fell into darker times after he lost his grandmother ; started drinking more and sleeping less, getting reckless with his job, the protocols in place to keep him from getting caught ; it wasn’t until he met charlotte that dom thought he’d ever see the light again, but she charmed him with a melodic laugh and a smile like sunshine, soothed his sorrows like a salve made just for his soul and dom ? well, dominick wolfe fell in love
dom and charlotte hadn’t been together more than a few months when he got arrested ; nearly a year of careless, thoughtless decisions had finally caught up to him, and even with the help of the best lawyer he could afford, he was twenty-three years old and facing seven years in prison for supplying an illicit drug ( he was lucky all they’d found was the cannabis when they searched his property, else he’d likely still be locked up for a number of charges that fell through )
to dom’s constant discouragement and disbelief, charlotte remained faithful to him for all seven years of his sentence ; she wrote him letters, visited when she could, and he spent every day of that near decade falling just a little more in love with her ; when he was released in the spring of 2009, they moved in together, and less than a year later, they were married and expecting a child
while dom was incarcerated, charlotte was scrimping and saving and managed to land a property with an old, run-down bar on the first floor and a connected flat upstairs in slightly better shape ; over the course of charlotte’s pregnancy, dom renovated them both, and though they both joked that they were insane for it, in the same year they welcomed a baby, the wolfe’s den was officially opened for business
the bar was a humble success ; there was nothing flashy about the place, but the spot was decent and the drinks were cheap, and they managed to lure in enough regulars to keep their little family afloat so long as they lived modestly ; dom ran the front of house, the bar, and charlotte kept their accounts balanced and bills paid, and eventually the wolfe’s den became a cozy little spot in the community for any wayward wanderer looking for a drink ; and yeah, okay, maybe dom was convinced this was it for him ― happily ever after, one he’d found himself, not that he deserved it
and because he didn’t deserve it, of course it couldn’t last ; dom remembers the night it ended as clearly as if it had been yesterday ― 2013, the last weekend in april, and charlotte had insisted they find a babysitter and do something special to celebrate his thirty-fifth birthday, something more than just a simple night in ; the weather was awful, miserable rain, but charlotte wolfe made her own sunshine and had never before been deterred by the weather, and so off they went to dinner and a movie
they never made it to dinner ; and no matter how many times he’s been asked, dom doesn’t remember how it happened ― he doesn’t know if the other driver hadn’t seen them and risked running the intersection or if they’d simply lost control of their vehicle, it all happened so fast ; when dom woke two days later in a hospital bed, it was to charlotte’s mother holding his baby, tears in her eyes ― charlotte didn’t make it
picking up the pieces was harder than anything dom had ever done before ; the bar stayed closed for weeks while he grieved the love of his life, tried to learn how to be a single parent, how to do it on his own ; he had to hire more help, more people to staff the place so he could be home with his kid ; eventually he fell into a routine, learned how to keep himself and his little one moving forward ; it’s been almost ten years since the the accident and even though some days are harder than others, they always manage
a little over a year ago, dom’s child came out to him as transgender in an unexpectedly heartfelt conversation over reality tv and takeaway one night ; though he’d been a bit surprised at first, he couldn’t say it had been by much, and he was proud to find out he not only had a son, but that his son wanted to be called by a name that reminded him of his mother: charlie ; if dom wept like a baby that night, he and charlie don’t talk about it, but he knows that his dad stands by him no matter what
dom and charlie still live in the flat above wolfe’s den, and he’s doing his best to balance being a business owner, bartender, and single dad ; most days he feels like he’s barely keeping his head above water, keeping it together, but it’s worth it to make sure he’s doing everything he can for charlie ; he’s had a few relationships in the more recent years since losing charlotte, including one with thea mackenzie, a spitfire of an american who found her way into his bar and caught his eye, but whether because of his baggage, his kid, or his inability to open up about any of it, dom’s been unable to find anyone serious to try again with
MISCELLANEA.
thanks to a pair of flags dom hung in the front windows of wolfe’s den shortly after charlie came out, one displaying the traditional rainbow and the other a trio of colors for transgender pride, his tiny hole-in-the-wall dive bar is slowly becoming an unintentional and niche spot for notting hill’s queer community to grab a drink ; be warned, though, if you linger at the bar for too long, you might end up getting a dad talk ― unless that’s what you’re looking for, in which case, he does give pretty decent advice
charlie can almost always be found at the bar when his dad’s there unless it’s late ; if he’s not doing his homework at one of the stools where dom can keep an eye on him, he’s polishing glasses or tossing darts or building houses of cards out of coasters ; and, look, dom knows he shouldn’t be raising a kid around a bar, but it’s a hell of a lot better than he had growing up, and besides, charlie never seems to mind ; in fact, dom’s keen to think he enjoys it, leans into the way it makes him feel a little like a rebel
dom has a good heart ; he’s been known to go upstairs into his own kitchen and cook a meal for strangers who are hungry or having a hard time in the bar down below ; he learned how to knit while he was in prison and found that it was a really helpful tool for anger management and stress relief, and you’ll occasionally find him knitting squares somewhere around the bar for blankets he donates to the women & children’s refuge every winter ; if you’re in need of somewhere safe to go, something to eat, someone to talk to... any of it, dom’s your man ― he doesn’t talk about himself much but he’s a damn good listener
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
regulars at the bar. anyone who comes in often enough to be friends with dom and the crew. it’s a small place and dom makes a point to look after his return patrons, which means heavy pours, discounted drinks, and if you’re really lucky, the master code for the jukebox to get unlimited plays.
parent friends. look, dom has been raising charlie on his own for almost a decade now, and he’s doing his damn best to make sure he does a decent job of it, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t use some advice from time to time, or, at very least, somebody to commiserate with over the struggles of raising a kid ― more than that, a teenager
employees. the folks who work at the bar are almost like a family to dom, and there’s not a whole hell of a lot he wouldn’t do for them. he trusts them with his business when he’s got to look after his kid, and likewise, he’d bend over backwards to help any one of them out in whatever way he could if they were in a tight spot or struggling.
prison pals. i don’t know if this one’s a long shot or not, but it would be interesting to see somebody dom met when he was locked up. were they friends ? enemies ?  i just think it could be a fun reunion to explore, and the presence of somebody from that part of his life making a reappearance now would certainly stir up some feelings
a friend of charlotte’s. maybe somebody who didn’t know dom personally at first, but knew him through his late wife and made a point to check in on him and charlie periodically after her passing, whether out of personal concern or care for their friend who couldn’t be there for her family anymore. anyway, this one promises a lot of angst. this is probably the person he calls late at night when he can’t stop thinking about her. they’re a lifeline of sorts.
exes. just because dom hasn’t been in a successful relationship since his marriage doesn’t mean he hasn’t tried to move on and meet somebody else. there are a million different reasons why it might not work out when you’re venturing into a relationship with him, of all people, but his intentions are always good. he just... well, he doesn’t really know what he’s doing anymore, okay ?
something more. this one scares him, because he doesn’t know how to handle the idea that he might be starting to feel something for someone again ; he’s guarded with his heart, even moreso now that he’s got charlie’s to protect, too, but something about this person makes dom want to let down his walls just a little bit, maybe let somebody in. they make him feel safe. maybe it’s still too soon to think about having feelings for somebody else, but it’s been ten years, and charlie deserves more than just him, doesn’t he ? and maybe... maybe he deserves more too

TW: pregnancy, ankle injury
62 years young. Big hair, pant suits, all the glam. Always dressed like a Jackie is her lord and savior
Peaked at winning Miss Oregon in 1979 and will talk about it any chance she gets
Has absolutely no filter
Momager and biggest fan of her kids
Wife and mother, Aurora bay drive dweller
Hearts in the right place but often misguided
Loves to gossip, will do anything to stay on top when she wants something
Friendly, loud mouthed, abrasive
Tries her best to be helpful
Loves little fluffy dogs and gin
Grew up on a farm and knows how to birth lambs and milk cows. Can do so in heels
From the time she was a child, Daphne knew she was destined for great things. Born on a farm to Irish immigrants in Oregon, Daphne learned early on what it meant to work out in hard for something you truly wanted. For her, it was to get out of that little town and be somebody.
The somebody she was meant to be.
Pageants, she discovered it was some thing she was quite good at, charming the judge is with her whit and blowing them out of the water with her River dance number. She spent hours perfecting her routine, and working on her dresses by hand, as did her mother. All of her Hardwork eventually did pay off, for she took the crown in 1979 from his Oregon and found herself at the Miss America pageant in 1980. She came in second alternate, which, till this day she argues is due to the fact that she twisted her ankle during the talent portion - misstepping on a dance she’d done a dozen times.
Afterwards, she went on to compete and other pageant levels while attending collage and eventually settling down and marrying a lawyer from California. They moved to Aurora bay in the mid 1980’s and started a family. Daphne begin working at the local weather station is the morning meteorologist.

William Edmondson was born sometimes in 1874 on a plantation in Tennessee. The exact date is unknown as it was recorded only in a family bible that was destroyed in a fire. He was born into the Jim Crow South to previously enslaved parents working as sharecroppers where they earned $12 a month. William had little or no education, as he lacked access to it given his social status. When his father died when he was 16, he left Davidson County for Nashville where he worked railway. Following an injury though, he began work as a custodian at a hospital and worked there until it closed in 1931. With those wages, he was able to buy a modest home where he lived with his mother and sister, and occasionally other relatives. You might find yourself asking where the art begins? It might surprise you to learn William would not enter the world of sculpture until he was 60 years of age. As a child, William would say he saw angels and god spoke to him, and as an older man he said that he began to sculpt following a vision from god.  "I was out in the driveway with some old sculptures of stone when I heard a voice telling me to pick up my tools and start to work on a tombstone. I looked up in the sky and right there in the noon daylight, he hung a tombstone out for me to make. I knowed it was God telling me what to do."
He began with tombstones made of discarded limestone from demolitions but soon began branching out into ornamentation and decoration. He even sold them. A sign in his front yard read "Tomb-Stones. For Sale. Garden. Ornaments. Stone Work WM Edmondson" As it should already be very clear, William was a deeply religious man and his work was greatly influenced by his faith as well as a nearby Calvinist Baptist congregation nearby. His work depicted biblical characters, animals and even local prominent community leaders such as lawyers and preachers. And also, popular figures like Jack Johnson and Eleanor Roosevelt. His largest and only architectural work, stood in his backyard. A sculpture of Noah's Ark, made of four carved tiers of limestone. One day, an art enthusiast from Peabody College, Sidney Hirsche happened to be wandering through Edgehill where William lived and came across the sculptures. A collector, Hirsche knew he had found something special, and became one of William's greatest supporters. His work which was largely given to and bought by friends and neighbors, was now being purchased by the elite of Nashville, for their gardens and offices. It gardened serious attention, from Harper's Bazaar to the Museum of Modern Art. But also adversity, a friend of a friend of Hirsche, photographer Louise Dahl-Wolfe tried to publish her photographs of William's sculptures to William Randolph Hearst, but a racist, he would not publish the work of black artists. Luckily, better heads prevailed elsewhere. The Museum of Modern Art, in 1937 exhibited his work as a one man show. A first for a black artist.
William was incredibly prolific despite having a career of only about fifteen years, he's thought to have made some 300 works of art. He died in his home in Nashville after months confined to a bed from illness. He's buried in Nashville's oldest cemetery, Greenwood Cemetery (then Mount Ararat Cemetery), but the exact site of his final resting place, like the exact date of his birth, has been lost in a fire.
William, like many outsider artists, is sometimes buried under reductive adjectives such as primitive. But while his figures are stout and emphatic, they are in fact sophisticated, especially given how late and how short a career he had. Full name: Andrea Maureen Williams
Nicknames: Andi, Your majesty.
Date of birth: May 15th, 1982 ( 41 )
Occupation: Journalist
Children: Christina ( 14 ) James ( 8 ) Expecting Baby Hamilton the 3rd.
Relationship status: Engaged to @ofwildheartsxx Christan Hamilton

Still has a stuffed turtle Christian won her at the seaside carnival the summer they met.
Andrea wears her heart on her sleeve, always ready and willing to help a stranger. She comes from a wealthy back ground but ties with her parents years ago as they didn’t approve of her fiancé. She works very hard for all she has. She’s a journalist of the local news; a loving mother of soon to be three and adores her fiancé and siblings. She re-proposed to Chris on their most recent anniversary via a scavenger hunt with some of their favorite literary works. Recently; they finally able purchased their dream fixer upper and are moving forward with planning a wedding years in the making all while digesting the news they are expecting another child in their early forties. Life for the Williams-Hamilton crew is never dull. Their story isn’t conventional. It’s full of a lot of hardship and loss, but above all else; so much love.
TW: pregnancy, birth, childhood trauma, death, missing persons.
The oldest child of lawyer John Lionel Millington and his wife Kathryn, a former celloist who taught lessons, Andrea was bread to be an ideal daughter, with that came a never ending pressure to please her parents. She felt like a puppet on parade at social events growing up. Not a hair out of place, or an uncouth act. Her parents kept her extremely sheltered and structured with piano lessons and studying, leaving little room for her to step a toe out of line.
Her favorite pass time was losing herself in a book. She found solace in the warn pages, her mind venturing off on grand adventures she longed to take but never would. Her parents had done a good job of snuffing out any big ideals the girl had. She felt trapped, unable to go against them. Her life was a comfortable but lonely, and mundane in existence. She had little friends outside of her family’s circle. Her first taste of freedom came when she began her Cotillion course during the spring her junior year. For the first time in her life, she felt like she had true girlfriends and was able to have fun without her parents breathing down her neck. That summer while riding bikes along the shore with her new found friends her bike collided with a blue eyed boy she later deemed her Prince Charming. Her bike was busted from taking the ditch and they both ended up scuffed up but thankfully it was all superficial. . Mortified; she tended to his injuries and offered to buy him ice cream to soften the blow before making sure he got home okay. That night she didn’t know it; but she’d found her soul mate, thus beginning the long journey that would be their lives. They would tell story of how they met children at bedtime and the kids thought their love one to rival story books; how against all odds they have made it and we’re still going strong over twenty years later. His name was Christian and he was in town for the summer with his family, a couple years her senior. Within the first week she was in love with him and she spent every waking moment she could with him. The two continued a secret romance on through the rest of summer and she invited him to dance with her at her coming out ball. They were opposites; she a quite soft spoken dreamer and he was bad boy with rough edges. That didn’t scare her though. Her parents of course didn’t approve of her dating a boy with a troubled past; and his dad had hated her from the start which meant she had to sneak around and creative.
The summer ended and he left; leaving an ache in her heart. Being away from him was terrible; but they called and wrote keeping up with each others lives; planning for their future together. She was proud of him for turning a new leaf and going to school, he had such potential and she was always there to cheer him on. She took a bus to see him for his winter and spring breaks; since her parents took her car when they found out she was still seeing him. She was in the process of transferring to a school close by his so they could begin their lives together when she found out he was enlisting in the army. She suspected his father had something to do with it, and despite how handsome he was in uniform she wasn’t sure about it. Part of her was always terrified he wouldn’t come back. Still, she stuck by him, graduating with a degree in journalism and working near base.
Finally, his contract was up and he’d be home for good. Right before leaving for his last mission he shocked her by proposing ; to which she told him it was about time and happy accepted and told him to hurry back so she could finally be Mrs. Hamilton. The next few weeks dreamed of their future children while thumbing through wedding magazines to get a head start on planning. A few weeks later she was shocked to discover she was pregnant. Ecstatic she wrote to him with the news; but no response came. She continued to write; sending updates and a sonograms thinking the mail was delayed; but weeks turned to months with no word or sign of his unit. It all felt like a bad dream. He was officially declared a missing person two months before she had their daughter who looked so much like him it hurt. She kept writing, and hoping against hope they’d find him alive. He couldn’t be gone. They had a child he needed to see; a life they’d planned for since they were lovesick teens. Eventually though, he was declared dead. Their was an honorable funeral with no body. She’d never made it down the aisle to be widowed. Her parents had disowned her so she was on her own with a toddler. She clung to Christy like a lifeline; giving her all the love she could muster and vowing she’d known her father. She wasn’t ever convinced he was gone, believing she’d know in her heart if he really was. People called her crazy when she said it; or pitied her. His father tried to take her to court for custody of Christy, which was a horrible experience but she beat him. Like hell he’d get their baby. The next few years felt like she was wading through water, she continued to search for leads and wrote l to him as if he were still here. She moved back to Aurora bay; sharing a place with a school friend who helped with Christy. She’d call his cell phone just to hear his voice on the voicemail, leaving him updates about Christy. She refused to give up on him; on their love. Years later, she still wondered if it was that optimism and manifestation that kept him alive when he’s been a prisoner halfway across the world; thinking about her too. By some miracle, he escaped that hell and found his way back to her. She’d never forget getting a call from a friend to turn on the news. His own father hadn’t bothered calling her. She ran; lungs burning to catch the fastest plane with Christy in toe and didn’t stop until she and their baby were both in his arms where they belonged. So began them getting reacquainted and picking up the pieces of their life together the best they could. He came back different, of course; how could he not? But she loved him none the less and did her best to help rebuild their relationship. Their son, little Jamie was a direct result of their reconnection. He was born just shy of ten months after Christen returned and the little family fell into place. The road there was bumpy though, and they never did quite get around to getting married . Andrea didn’t want to rush it until things felt right, until Christian adjusted and felt comfortable with who he was.
Andrea now works as head of the local news.

A POPULOUS PLACE FOR THOSE WHO HAD MADE THE SAME TREK, MONTEZ ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS A HARD WORKING, SELF-EMPLOYED, FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS MAN. HIS DREAM STARTED WITH ONE RESTAURANT AND SOON EXPANDED INTO OTHER AREAS OF HOSPITALITY UNTIL HIS CHARM AND BUSINESS ACUMEN HAD HIM AT THE HELM OF HIS OWN HOTEL
HE FED THE SAME DESIRE AND ETHIC TO HIS ONLY SON, ENCOURAGING NESTOR TO DREAM BIGGER AND BOLDER BUT TO NEVER FORGET WHERE HE CAME FROM
ALWAYS OUTSPOKEN, MONTEZ SPOKE OPENLY ABOUT THE LIFE HE’D SURVIVED WHILE IN CUBA AND HIS DETERMINATION TO NOT SEE THE SAME FALL TO HIS FAMILY IN THE US. NESTOR PICKED UP THAT MANTLE FROM HIS FATHER, EVEN AS A CHILD ESTABLISHING HIMSELF AS PRIDEFUL AND UNWILLING TO BACKDOWN FROM ANY ARGUMENT, EVEN IF FISTS FOR WERE INVOLVED
NESTOR FOUGHT FOR THOSE WHO HAD BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY THOSE WHO DID NOT. FOLLOWING HIS MOTHER AS SHE VOLUNTEERED AND COMFORTED THOSE WHO HAD JUST TOUCHED DOWN ON THE SANDY FLORIDA SHORES. HIS PASSION WAS NOT FOR HIS BETTERMENT OR WEALTH BUT THE EXPECTATION THAT THOSE WHO WERE CITIZENS OR DESIRED TO BECOME CITIZENS WOULD HAVE ALL THEIR NEEDS MET
HE WAS STILL IN COLLEGE WHEN THE POLITICAL BUG HIT HIM. A TURN AS COUNCILMAN. A MEMBER OF  LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND BOARDS THAT DIDN’T FIGHT FOR THE REACH BUT IDENITIFIED THE DISPARITY THAT FELL TO SO MANY WHO HAD THE SAME STORY OF DISCRIMINATION AND LACK TO TELL
IT WAS THE SAME BUG THAT PUSHED HIM FROM PRIVATE PRACTICE INTO THE PUBLIC SECTOR AS A LAWYER ON A LIST OF DEFENDERS FOR THOSE WHO DIDN’T HAVE THE MONEY TO SEEK THEIR OWN COUNSEL
THOSE STORIES PUSHED HIM TO DO MORE THAN DEFEND IN COURT ROOMS BUT TO FIND A BIGGER AUDIENCE AND VENUE TO SPEAK ABOUT THE NEEDS OF SO MANY
IN MANY EYES HE WAS A GOOD MAN. A DETERMINED MAN. BUT HE WAS ALSO SELFISH AND PRIDEFUL. QUICK TO HIDE BEHIND ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND GOOD DEEDS WHILE NEVER ADDRESSING THE PAIN HE OFTEN BROUGHT TO OTHERS OR THE LIES HE TOLD HIMSELF
AT TIMES PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE, WERE EASILY DISPOSABLE IF HE FELT THEY WEREN’T NEEDED AT THAT MOMENT. A PICTURE OF SELFISHNESS THAT BROUGHT KARMA TO HIS DOOR AND FORCED HIM TO MAKE CHANGES
POLITICS ASIDE, HE STILL FIGHTS FOR THE COMMON PEOPLE. THOSE HARDWORKING, HUNGRY, AND SUFFERING AT THE HANDS OF A COUNTRY THEY LOVE BUT HE DOES SO IN THE BACKGROUND. UNWILLING TO FEED HIS EGO
HE ALSO HARBORS REGRETS...SEVERAL OF WHICH HE PLANS TO RECTIFY IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE

BIO / SUMMARY
Imani knew from a young age that she wanted to be child-free, but one can argue that reason was due to her being forced to watch her younger siblings. Both of her parents worked long hours, one is a doctor and the other is a lawyer. They both had the money to hire a babysitter, but according to them that would be a waste of money. Why hire someone when they can have their oldest daughter do it. They try to frame it as a great bonding experience for her. However, to Imani, she hated it. She loves her siblings and she loves spending time with them. But she didn’t want to be responsible for them. She wanted her own life, to do her own things. This cause a drift between her and her parents and resentment towards her siblings.
Her relationship with everyone was rocky, but as she got older and moved out it approved. Her relationship with her siblings was better. With her parents, well it was okay. She realized her resentment should go to them, and not her siblings. She learned to move passed it but she does have her moments of being bitter that her parents never acknowledge their wrong doing or apologized.
Imani went to school to be a nurse, it was not what her parents wanted. Maybe that's why she went into it at first, but she learned that she actually like what she was studying. Being a nurse was enough for her. She didn’t want to become a doctor and live under her mother’s shadow, nor did she want to become and lawyer and live under her father’s shadow. Though being a nurse won’t exactly allow her to escape any type of comments about her mother. Nor, how people will comment on her becoming a nurse instead of following in her mother’s shoes. But she was able to block that out. It’s easier blocking out comments about what career choice she should’ve made than comments about her abilities/skill being weaker than her mothers.
The comments lessened once she got married to her best friend, the name changed allowed her to escape the same old comments from new, or other, co-workers who have not yet learned who her mother was. Soon, the comments completely stopped when applied and became a traveling nurse. Her husband decided to quite and pursue writing and she wanted to support his new career path. So she applied to a new positioned that allowed her to get more money and to travel around. It almost felt like her life was perfect. She got to go to new places for extended period of time and make more money. Her husband came along, which allowed him to find muse in the new place they end going to due to her job. They got to explore new areas and make new friends. And when she went to the next destination, they do it all over again. Explore their new surrounding, makes friends, and her husband find more muse.
After her husband ended up published several novels and created a big following from his traveling blog, things started to slow down. It was not their plan, but they decided to slow things down when she learned she was pregnant. It threw them for a loop. Especially since her husband had a vasectomy. While he didn’t accuse her of cheating, and she was thankful for that, she knew the thought must have come up. But she was quick to say she will get a paternity test because she knew for a fact that this was his baby. After the test came back, they both took time to think about if this was something they wanted or if they wanted to go through with aborting the pregnancy. Yes, Imani always believed she was child-free. But the idea of having a baby with her husband was not as terrifying. She knew who he is and he would be if they were to have kids. She knew he would help her and that she wouldn’t be doing this all alone. So they decided that they were going to keep the baby.
With that in mind, Imani knew that they will have to go back home - meaning her time as a traveling nurse was over. It was time for them to go home and get ready for this new chapter in their life. She never thought she would be excited for this, and honestly - she was worried. With the age she was, there was a possibility of of complications with the pregnancy. While she loved the experienced they built together, there was a part of that wish they realized they wanted this at a younger age. However, she wanted to stay optimistic. Everything in her life was going so well, of course this had to work out. But, unfortunately for her, it did not work out. On the drive home from work one night she got into a horrible accident - one that her husband wasn’t even sure she was going to make. Fortunately for her, she did. But she lost many things in the process. She got a burn scar on her back, her left leg was amputated, and lost her pregnancy.
Imani always felt like she was a strong person who could get through anything, but this. This was something she never imagined happening. Even over a year of all of this happening, she still struggles to grasp her new reality. Who she is now is completely different from who she was before. She felt like a part of her died that day. She’s a shell of a person that has so much anger built up inside. She has resentment toward the driver that has done this to her. The only thing that she is doing is slowly pushing her husband away. As much as she wants to let him in, she’s afraid that he can’t accept the person she was forced to become. She just has negative thoughts in her head. She’s convinced that he’s only staying to seem like a good husband - but in reality he really wants to leave. She knows its a horrible thought to have. She’s been having a lot of irrational thoughts, ones that make her feel guilty for having. But the main one is, if she can’t accept her own body now, how can he? She wants to get better, she wants to be like the people she sees online that are confident with themselves after having scars or injuries from an accident. But she just finds herself stuck in her own depression, relying on her anger as some form of comfort as she pushes her husband away.

The German public prosecutor's office is investigating Nico Schulz regarding domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend.
There are serious accusations against the multiple national player Nico Schulz. The ex-girlfriend of the professional footballer, who is under contract with Borussia Dortmund, accuses him of severe abuse.
The charges against the footballer, reported by the "Bild" newspaper, are said to contain overwhelming evidence. According to the report, Whatsapp chat histories are documented, which are said to contain admissions of guilt by the BVB professional.
Among other things, it is about Schulz allegedly kicking his then girlfriend in the stomach less than two weeks before the birth of their child together. "He held her from behind and then threw her to the ground. Subsequently, further actions were carried out in the direction of the stomach," the newspaper quotes from the complaint.
A total of seven cases are documented in the 76-page complaint, and all incidents are said to have taken place in 2020.
After the incident with the kicks in the stomach at the end of August 2020, the woman, with whom Schulz is said to have been involved for several years, wrote to him: "I am dying of pain in my abdomen. Schulz had replied, among other things, "I'm sorry."
"I hate myself for it," writes Nico Schulz to his girlfriend at the time. Regarding another incident in January 2020, the then-girlfriend wrote: "What gives you the right to kick me, choke me, drag me on the floor, throw a mirror on my head what?". Schulz's reply: "Stop it being aggressive x you threw this cup and my fuses blew" (sic!).
In March, the woman then sends photos to the footballer documenting injuries. The reply: "I'm sorry." The former national player then sends a selfie with the corners of his mouth hanging down. And further: "I hate myself for that."
Did Schulz's adviser want to intimidate his ex-girlfriend?
The "Bild" newspaper also quotes from a Schulz e-mail in June 2020, which is also said to appear in the advertisement: "I'm sorry that I kept hitting you. I threw your earring on the street after I threatened you and pushed you even though you were pregnant - I know it wasn't right. I hit you and lied to you because I didn't know what to do.
The woman's lawyer writes in the complaint against the multiple national player that there is initial suspicion of an attempted abortion in a particularly serious case and of dangerous bodily harm.
Another disturbing detail from the complaint: According to "Bild", one of the footballer's advisors is accused of trying to intimidate the alleged victim. According to the chat logs, Schulz had probably also repeatedly asked his girlfriend at the time to delete the chat histories. And: Photos of injuries of another ex-girlfriend are also said to be included in the complaint.
What the BVB and the public prosecutor's office say
BVB told the newspaper: "We were not aware of any investigation by the public prosecutor's office into Nico Schulz's private life until today. We are now using your e-mail as an opportunity to talk directly to the player about the serious allegations."
A spokesman for the public prosecutor's office is quoted by Bild as follows: "Due to a complaint by a former girlfriend of the accused, in which she accused him of physical assault, we searched the accused's home last week and seized storage media, which are now being evaluated."

//ooc: Heads up- this is a departure from the usual content on this blog.
I’m not feeling particularly patriotic today because of the current actions of SCOTUS, but I am in an educational mood. The accomplishments of women, and their capacity for great things are currently being threatened and trampled on.
A manipulative and highly vocal minority is preying on vulnerable populations to mold their thinking into a punitive theocratic state, while also paving the path for systemic misogyny and the resurgence of race and class stratification. Women, particularly women of color, are among many groups of people being targeted today. So today, I’m going to highlight and honor two people that should be recognized so that their impact on our history doesn’t get lost.
Phillis Wheatley (1753-1784)
Born in Gambia, Africa, Phillis was captured by slavers and brought to America. In less than two years, she be came a well educated woman that could read a variety of literature. Astronomy and geography was also in her repertoire of knowledge and skills. She began to write poetry at the age of fourteen and her first published piece came out in 1767. In 1770, her piece “An Elgiac Poem, on the Death of the Celebrated Divine George Whitefield”, earned her fame. Following this, she soon became the first black woman in America to have a published book.
During the American Revolution, she wrote extensively to ministers and other officials speaking out against slavery. She also wrote a very well received poem that celebrated George Washington’s appointment as the commander of the Continental Army. Even so, she continued to speak out against the use of slaves in America. She strongly believed that this issue was a roadblock to American gaining true heroism and patriotism.
Wheatley married a free black man, John Peters, from Boston and latter died in 1784 after complications from child birth. Her legacy greatly impacted American literature and showed others that, with equal access to education, African Americans were just as capable of creative and intellectual greatness as all other human beings. Her work and impact helped influence the abolition movement.

Elizabeth Freeman (“Mum Bett”) (~1744-1829)
Born into slavery in Claverack, NY around 1744 (documentation to confirm the year of her birth was not able to be found), Elizabeth grew up on a plantation with her younger sister, Lizzie. This plantation belonged to Pieter Hogeboom. While unable to read or write, she had a tactical and strategic mind. After being transferred to another location owned by Colonel John Ashley and Hogeboom’s daughter, whom had married the Colonel.
Mrs. Ashley had a history of cruelty towards slaves and one incident was marked down in history. In one conflict, Freeman protected her sister from being struck with a heated kitchen shovel by Mrs. Ashley. This act left her with a serious wound that never healed up properly. Instead of hiding this injury, she kept it as visible as possible as proof of the mistreatment slaves endured.
Freeman would go on to eventually sue for her freedom. Less than a year after the Massachusetts State Constitution was ratified, she challenged it in court. She was inspired by this when her master, Colonel Ashley, wrote an ultimately famous line in the Sheffield Declaration. “Mankind in a state of nature are equal, free, and independent of each other, and have a right to the undisturbed enjoyment of their lives, liberty, and property.” This very same language would eventually be used in the Declaration of Independence in 1776, as well as the Massachusetts Constitution in 1780.
Freeman had overheard these words and eventually went to an attorney named Theodore Sedgwick to challenge the constitutionality of slavery under these words. Many lawyers of the time decided to see if this case as a test to see if this interpretation was viable. In 1781, the Berkshire Court of Common Pleas received a “Write of Replevin” that ordered Freeman and another enslaved man to be freed. Colonel Ashley, however, refused to let them go. This spurred Freeman to sue Ashley in a case that she ultimately won. She was freed and awarded 30 shillings in addition to coverage of court costs.
Elizabeth went on to be a prominent healer, midwife and nurse. Twenty years later, she was able to buy her first home. She died in 1829 at an estimated age of 85 and was buried in the Sedgwick family plot in Stockbridge, Ma. Her actions to gain her freedom ultimately led to a series of trials that culminated in determining that slavery was incompatible with the new Massachusetts Constitution.

A lot of people who claim to want children don’t actually want children. They were just fed the idealized image of babies that society feeds us. When that idealized image falls to reality around the wrong people it’s a preventable tragedy.
A woman has been found guilty of murdering a baby she wanted to adopt.
Laura Castle had admitted fatally shaking 13-month-old Leiland-James Corkill after her lawyer said she "lost it" over his crying.
Her husband Scott Castle was cleared of causing or allowing his death at the couple's home in Barrow, Cumbria, in January 2021.
At Preston Crown Court, Mrs Castle, 38, was also found guilty of one charge of child cruelty.
She will be sentenced on 25 May.
The court heard Leiland-James was taken into care by Cumbria County Council two days after his birth on 21 December 2019.
He moved in with the couple in August 2020 and within weeks Mrs Castle was sending her husband messages while he was at work criticising Leiland-James, calling him vulgar names and a "moaning whinge bag" and describing how she had "absolutely leathered" him.
Social services were aware the couple were struggling to bond with him but there were no concerns for his safety as no suspicious bruises or marks were seen, the court was told.
How a baby was killed by his prospective mother
Mrs Castle called 999 at about 08:15 GMT on 6 January 2021 to say he was unconscious and breathing awkwardly after falling from the sofa.
Leiland-James died at about 15:00 GMT the following day at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, where doctors were highly suspicious of Mrs Castle's account.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said when it became clear her first story did not explain the youngster's injuries, Mrs Castle searched the internet for what might cause a bleed on the brain and then gave a different account to police in her interview.
On the opening day of her trial, she admitted manslaughter but said she did not mean to kill him.
She told the court she had "lost her mind" as the boy was crying and she shook him to try and silence him.
'Happy boy'
Pathologists said "severe" and "considerable" force would have been needed to cause the fatal brain injuries he suffered, and believed his head had been struck against a hard surface.
They said his injuries were a classic indicator of "abusive head trauma", a replacement term for "shaken baby syndrome", and were of the severity seen in high-speed car crashes.
Pathologist Dr Alison Armour identified a number of bruises and marks on Leiland-James' face, head and body, including one on his cheek indicative of a slap, others on his forehead consistent with being prodded or poked and another on his ear which was most likely caused by "pinching or twisting" with "significant force".
Prosecutors disputed Mrs Castle's claim of feeling "frustrated" over his crying and said she had "lost her temper" with Leiland-James after he spat his breakfast out.
Michael Brady QC said neighbours did not hear the sound of a crying baby that morning but did hear a loud thud which, he said, was the moment she inflicted the fatal injuries.
Neighbours told the court they frequently heard Mrs Castle shouting and what sounded like a child being slapped.
Charlotte Day, the foster mother who took care of Leiland-James for the first eight months of his life, told the court he was a "content" and "happy boy" who loved playing with his toys and being carried and cuddled.
Following the two-and-a-half week trial, jurors took just under three hours to reach their verdicts.
Mr Castle, 35, was cleared of two counts of child cruelty and Mrs Castle found not guilty of a second child cruelty offence.
Cumbria County Council said an independent review was under way into the death of Leiland-James, with a report expected to be published in July.
John Readman, the council's executive director for people, said the case was "truly shocking", adding: "Adoption should have been a new beginning for [Leiland-James].
"That was cruelly taken away from him by the person who should have cared for him and kept him safe."
He said his death "should not have happened" and there would "quite rightly be questions" about how the Castles were approved for adoption.
Joanna Close, senior crown prosecutor with CPS North West, said Leiland-James' birth mother had "believed he would be safe and have a good life" following his match with the Castles.
Ms Close described Mrs Castle as "self-centred, abusive and violent and unfit to provide a home to this vulnerable child".

Vault 76 Resident: Kara Vander Zee.
Tumblr media
Name: Kara Van Der Zee.
Age: 35
Affiliations
US Army (formerly)
Brotherhood Of Steel
Date Of Birth: June 12, 2049
Description: Kara was born in Appalachia to an upper class family where she was the only child. Her father was a former army ranger turned lawyer while her mother was the sheriff of her county. Kara always had a bit of an adventurous streak to her as she would hike in the mountains looking for cryptids but came up with nothing and grew bored of life. She was an average at best student compared to her successful twin sister, Holly, who she held dear. Kara wanted more out of life and decided to join the army to have more thrills.
But what she got was more death and destruction. Especially during the Annexation Of Canada. She later participated in the Sino-American War where she fought alongside Elizabeth Taggerdy who she considered a mentor and somewhat of a mother figure. An injury caused her to return home where she stayed in the house for days looking at the ceiling. Kara served exceptionally well during the war to the point she was nearly considered for Taggerdy’s Thunder.
Due to her family ties and service, Kara was put on the list for Vault 76. When the bombs were dropped, Kara tried to contact her sister and Elizabeth Taggerdy but couldn’t as power lines were being destroyed left and right. With no choice, Kara went into Vault 76 much to her disdain. She didn’t sleep on her first day as she kept hearing the all too familiar sounds of the bombs going off…and finally silence.
Life in the vault started off rough for Kara as she barely knew anyone. But she made a friend with a Vault 76 resident named Jamie Wantanabe and his sister, Dana Wantanabe. She soon began dating Dana and life started to ease up a little for her. Still, the stories she’s been hearing from the overseer made her prepare for the worst to happen. Soon it was time for the vault to open and Kara was one of the residents who ventured out into the wasteland…and discovered the horrible truth of what happened to Elizabeth Taggerdy.
Kara was one of many residents that followed the overseer’s orders and her journey led her to Fort Defiance where she learned of the origins of the Brotherhood Of Steel. Because of this, Kara signed up for the Brotherhood to make a real difference and hoping she would find her mentor. But as she saw more dead members, she expected the worst…and she got it. Kara found Elizabeth Taggerdy dead after her attempts to stop the Scorch Beast as an enraged Kara slaughtered the monster.
A distraught Kara later buried Elizabeth and the rest of the unit in Fort Defiance. There she would try to recruit new members of the Appalachian Brotherhood Of Steel while waiting for any members to arrive and became the unofficial temporary leader of the chapter waiting for any reinforcements. Her hopes were affirmed when the expedition team arrived.
Personality: Kara appears to be a carefree woman but she’s really a more selfless and noble yet also conflicted Vault 76 resident. She craved for adventure most of the time and had an interest in cryptozoology as a child. This led to her being an adrenaline junkie as a teenager as she would get in trouble most of the time with adults. When she graduated high school, she joined the army to get away from her boring life. Till this day, she regrets that decision…
War changed Kara as it warped her view on humanity and the government. But she did find some solace with Elizabeth Taggerdy who she regarded as a mentor and served under. The two struck a friendship as they would work together to survive the war. Returning home felt off to Kara as she just wanted to rest most of the time and try to take things in but her family kept wanting her to find a high paying job fast. Kara felt dead returning home and she knew it, everything she tried to do to keep that feeling away didn’t work but she tried most of the time.
It wasn’t until the bombs fell was when she felt alive again for just a split moment or hours but in a twisted way. She soon went back to her dead inside personality when it all stopped and there was nothing but silence. But having a girlfriend changed her, it made her feel alive in a good way and while the two broke up, she felt better.
Like many vault 76 residents, Kara looked up to the overseer who she saw as a great leader. She considered her the best woman to lead the vault and would gladly follow her to Hell. She understood her orders and was among the other vault 76 residents to try and pacify any division. Because of that, she became one of the recent initiates of the Appalachian Brotherhood Of Steel.
She has mixed opinions on Roger Maxson as a whole. Kara does respect and admire him for his attempts to bring back order and the Brotherhood’s goals but the fact he indirectly caused Elizabeth Taggerdy’s death made her not forgive him for that. She believes in the cause but not the leader as a whole.
Kara also deeply blamed herself for not leaving the vault and assist Taggerdy. She often wondered if things would’ve been different if she joined her. Everyday the thought haunts her when she tries to sleep or wander in the day.
All in all, Kara was a person who wanted chaos and chaos came to her-she relented and wants nothing more than order.
