summary: the school's gonna do a play and it's gonna be Romeo and Juliet. Chase was supposed to help with the behind the scenes but instead he gets to play Romeo, and you, Juliet, offer him some help with his lines..

a/n: this is my first time writing for this fandom and also my first time making my writing public so please be kind :') ...i haven't written any type of fanfic in a veeeery long time. this is just for fun!!!
"Seriously?! I can't believe it!"
Janelle yells storming into the gym. Everybody stops what they're doing to look at her puzzled. This year Mission Creek High decided to organize a play and upon a great request it was decided to stage 'Romeo and Juliet'. Janelle volunteered to direct the entire planning of it.
"Our Romeo decided it was a great time to break his arm, therefore we don't have a Romeo anymore!" she says walking towards Leo, who's busy painting the fake wooden balcony. Leo decided to take part in the production only to have an excuse to be with Janelle, and doing so he dragged Chase along, just to have some company.
A few people gather around to see what was going on, you take your eyes off the script you were revising to look at your classmates on the opposite site of the room.
"So? What's the big deal?" says Leo "The understudy can take his place."
"The big deal is we don't have an understudy! We barely have enough people working on this play, do you really think we have extras?" Janelle is furious.
"Why don't we pick somebody from the crew?" you barge into the conversation, feeling the eyes of everyone onto you "I mean, it's not like we have time to redo auditions.."
Everybody is silent, eyes going left and right scanning the room for someone brave enough to take on one of the leading roles. You look behind Leo's shoulder "I bet Chase could do it."
Chase was surprised and slightly confused by your statement "Me? But I'm not an actor." he says, struggling to speak loud enough to be heard.
"Neither am I, and neither is everyone else..this is a high school play not Broadway, no of us are actors." you shrug while looking over to the brown haired boy.
Janelle looks over to him "Chase, do you think you could do it? You'd be a life saver, honestly." you could hear the tension in her voice from all the stress the planning brought her.
"I-i mean, sure I could give it a try" Chase tried so hard to sound confident in his choice but you could hear the slight tremor in his tone.
"Perfect, problem solved!" Janelle said.
Once everyone got back to work you get closer to Chase, "If you want we can practise the lines together, I could also give you some tips."
"Sure, I'd love that." Chase says with a sweet, soft smile. "Cool, you can stop by at my house today if that's ok." you smile back
"Yeah, sure, I'll see you later."

After school, the two brothers head to the lab and Chase is panicking, regretting the choice he made earlier that day. "Why would I agree to do something like this?! Why didn't you stop me Leo?! This is going to be a disaster! The play's gonna suck!" he spits out the words so quickly he can barely keep up with his thoughts.
"Chase chill out! You'll be fine, like Y/n said no one here's an actor, you're all gonna suck" Leo's already tired of his complaining.
Chase's worry isn't only his acting, but the fact he's gonna be the lead in a romantic play with you as his love interest. He's also terrified by the idea of having to kiss you multiple times on stage, in front of a ton of people. This is stressing him out way more than anticipated.
He already knew who you were long before taking part in this project. He saw you walk around the halls, he saw you sitting a couple of desks in front of him in some classes you have together. He always thought about you as the pretty girl he would only talk to in his imagination. Nobody could have predicted the two of you acting as lovers in a school play. Certainly not Chase.

With his heart beating out of his chest, Chase knocks on your front door. You open the door and invite him in. "We can go upstairs in my room" you say, guiding him upstairs.
You go through the script together, focusing on the more difficult parts to memorize. You're suprised Chase could memorize all these lines so quickly, and he's getting better at getting into character.
He says every line with the right feeling, you two work in harmony, it's like you're no longer acting as the characters but are living the story as yourselves.
"You're quite talented you know that Chase?" you smile
"Thanks, I'm actually a bit nervous if I'm being honest." he chuckes while lowering his eyes, looking at his fingers fidgeting with the corner of the script's page.
"How come? You're doing great." you tilt you're head slightly. You sit on your bed, taking a small break.
He shrugs, sitting down beside you "I don't know, I just am" he mumbles.
You stare at him with a soft gaze, you study his expression, you're lightly mesmerized by the way the light beam from the setting sun is hitting his face, shining through your window. His eyes now being a warmer hazel tone.
He can hear the beat of his heart in his ears "Actually, I'm scared 'cause --" he stops "I'm worried about our kiss."
"Our kiss?"
"Yeah, it scares me a little having to kiss in front of an audience."
"It's gonna be a quick kiss don't worry about it."
"I know, it's just that --" he looks down again "I've never done it before."
"You've never kissed anyone?" you say, the slight surprise in your voice makes him feel even worse now.
"It's fine Chase, I get it. There's no need to be ashamed of it." you try to reassure him. "Wanna practise?"
"The kiss?" he looks at you.
"Yeah, I mean, we probably should anyway since it's part of the play." you say, standing up and placing yourself in front of him like you would be on stage.
"Yeah, ok, that's..a good idea" he stands up as well. Chase tries to hide his uncertainty.
"You sure about this?" you ask, you don't want to pressure him.
"A hundred percent" he's anxious, he's rubbing subtly his hands on his jeans because they're starting to sweat, his knees get weaker and he hopes they'll be strong enough to support him.
"Ok now, just follow my lead." you take his hand, leaning nearer. Your other hand cupping his cheek, your lips are now inches apart. Your touch feels warm on his skin, making him breathe faster.
"Close your eyes." as he does so, your place your lips onto his gently, and start to slowly and softly kiss him.
A warm feeling of joy starts to bubble up in his chest as he copies your movements and picks up the pace. The kiss gets more intense, more impatient as he tastes your lips. You get closer and your hand that was on his cheek is now on the back of his neck, tangling your fingers with his hair. His hands start to move, although he's still unsure of what to do.
You stop for a brief moment. "It's ok if you wanna touch me, y'know." Chase laughs a little, he then places his hands on your sides, sliding them down to your waste. He grabs a little harder and pull you into another kiss, this time greedier, messier.
He didn't think it would feel this good kissing you, his heart is racing so fast you could probably hear it. Your lips are exploring eachother, you're both enjoying this much more than you should be. After a few moments Chase decides to wet your bottom lip with the tip of his tongue, you part your lips a bit and he slips part of his tongue in. The feeling of your tongues tasting eachother sends shivers down your spine, you feel your cheeks getting warmer.
"You taste amazing" he blurs out the moment he stops to catch his breath, then he pulls you again into another kiss. His words make you melt.
Chase has lost track of time. Actually he has lost track of anything, he can only feel you. Your lips, your tongue, your taste, the sweet smell of your perfume and the warmth of your body standing so close to his. A few moments pass and you pull away to catch your breath, your faces still close to eachother.
"Was i good?" his question makes you chuckle.
"Yeah, you were. You know the kiss isn't supposed to last this long though, right?"
"Sorry i got a bit carried away." Chase laughs a little. You smile softly, caressing his cheek with your thumb.
"I don't think you're gonna have problems on stage, Chase"
"Although we should probably get back to revising the lines"
"We should, but after we're done we should go back to the kissing part, just to be sure"

Would the davenports sit shiva for Marcus if they were jewish?
I'm not jewish, nor am I familiar with jewish culture, so I had to look this up. If I understood it correctly it means that when somebody dies their family gathers and they grieve together for a week. Which honestly I don't think they would.
At least not the first time he died (in the second season). It just that Marcus had around five appearances up till the bionic showdown which is not a lot and he spend most of the episodes he was in antagonizing Leo. The one person who would miss him the most was Douglas who was not with the family at that point.
I mean only Adam, Bree and Chase lost a friend. And even that loss was overshadowed by the betrayal. I don't think they would grieve someone who lied to them and then tried to either kill them or have them brainwashed with the triton app. Of course they would miss him, but I doubt they would allow themselves to feel bad for him.
The second time he dies in the vanishing there is a bigger chance that they would, because Douglas is a part of the family and I think he would want to. By this point I'm pretty sure that Adam, Bree and Chase have come to terms with the whole betrayal thing and the fact that he was an android, so they don't really care about him anymore, but they care about Douglas and if he thought that sitting shiva for Marcus is the right thing to do they would do it with him. Along with the rest of the family.

Lab Rats HCs!!!
-Chase has nicknames for all of his teammates as well as his siblings. He even had some for some of his students.
-he calls Bree ‘bee’ and it started when they were only just little kids and were called Subject A, B and C. B is bee to him. He also calls her breezy or speedy because that’s what Mr Davenport used to call her before they had names.
-really cliche but he calls Leo 'Lion' because he thinks it’s funny when Leo gets all flustered when he does it. Leo gets embarrassed because he knows he’s not really anything like a lion. He also calls him ‘butter fingers’ and ‘handy man’ and he thinks he’s funny with that one since Leo’s bionic in one arm.
-he calls Adam ‘Atom’ and I love this nickname for Adam. I think I saw it in a fic about how the kids got their names and it was because Mr Davenport called him atom bomb (I think, I might have just imagined it) in the fic. Chase pick up on stuff really easily, that includes nicknames for people. He also calls Adam ‘hulk’ which everyone loves.
-Kaz has many nicknames from Chase, his favourite one is ‘fire boy’ and this one’s actually canon. He also calls him ‘Azzy’ which I have definitely stolen from a Chaz fic. Chase also calls him ‘button’ and nobody is sure why it started.
-he calls Oliver ‘drink dispenser’ and ‘refrigerator’ which he thinks is absolutely hilarious. Everyone calls Oliver ‘Oli’ or ‘Oli-pop’ which Chase has picked up on. He also has take to calling him ‘liver’ which Oliver hates.
-Skylar’s nicknames are ‘E.T’ ‘alien’ and other alien references. Chase also started calling her ‘toes’ after he found out about her weird alien feet. He also makes a lot of Star Wars jokes around her.
-Mr Davenport is ‘Donnie Darko’ or ‘weird man’ which Chase has absolutely no idea why he started.
-Douglas is ‘trash man’ or ‘rat man’ which stems from him being previously homeless.
-Chase has emetophobia (phobia of vomit) and refuses to eat anything sugary after he had hurled after eating loads of cake when he wasn’t used to real food yet.
-Bree can somehow always whip out bars of chocolate or random packaged food whenever people need it. Like she always has food stashed away somewhere on her.
-Chase mothers People a lot. He’s the one that carries around plasters and hydration for people on outings, he for some reason always has a snack on hand like Bree does. His are usually healthy and nobody wants them though.
-Kaz and Oliver are the only ones on the team that know how to human properly. Skylar is an alien, Bree and Chase grew up in a basement so they struggle to function like normal humans in society. They don’t understand certain aspects of being people. They didn’t know what Easter was until Kaz and Oliver came along. They still didn’t understand what Santa was and what his purpose is supposed to be. They don’t understand things that are normally natural to do for humans. Chase couldn’t understand the concept of homophobia because it was so normalised in the basement.
- (TW for homophobia and hate crimes) Chase and Kaz were almost hate crimed coming home from a date once. Six guys had started following them and yelling at them. They (Kaz and Chase) didn’t say anything and carried on walking. One of them grabbed Chase and Kaz went ballistic. He got so mad that even his hair lit on fire.
-adding to that, Kaz’s hair can ignite like a match if he’s mad enough. So far he hasn’t figured out how to do it on command.
-they have meals together almost every night. Kaz almost always cooks and man can cook really good food. Having 11(?) siblings means he taught himself to cook so that he could feed his siblings when their parents couldn’t be bothered to.
And to finish off I want to say how happy I am to see all the likes and reblogs on my posts. A couple have had hashtags talking about how much they love these HCs and how they imagine the same things as me and it makes me so incredibly happy. Thanks to everyone who actually likes these!

Trans Chase Davenport
I am a firm believer that Chase Davenport is a trans man.
He's trans, ftm. He started his transition before the first season, and most people don't know that he's trans.
Adam starts out as kind of an asshole about it because he doesn't realize how harmful it is, but he gets better and more supportive over the years.
Bree misses her sister, but eventually grows to love her brother, going from resenting the change to admiring the man he became. Eventually Bree realized that she also likes to be called they.
Leo didn't know that Chase was trans when he first met them, joining in with Adam on the jokes. Chase exploded on him, explaining very angrily that hes a boy. Leo was confused but instantly apologized. Chase resented him for a while but eventually forgave him.
Douglas didn't recognize him as first. When he found out that Chase was bionic, he made the connection that he was the third kid. He was confused at first, but mainly just wanted all three of his kids back to be evil. When he found Chase in the arctic, he explained to him that he doesn't understand why Chase transitioned, but he supports him nonetheless.
Donald was...a special case. He tried to be supportive, he really did, but was accidentally SUPER transphobic without realizing it. He was eventually educated on why what he was doing/saying was wrong.
Tasha never knew Chase as anything but a boy. It took her longer to accept that there were three bionic kids living in the basement. When she found out that Chase was trans, she kind of just shrugged and said that it didn't change anything.
Perry started out as very transphobic. Chase's sex on his school papers was listed as Female, and so that's all Perry treated him as, even when he insisted that he was a boy. As time went to and more people started to support Chase, Perry found herself backed into a corner, and was threatened with a lawsuit for emotional damage. Tasha, who is the only one who could really talk some sense into her despite them not getting along, sat her down and gave her a stern talking to. It took a while but now Perry definitely sees Chase as a man.
When Sebastian Krane found out, he used it to his advantage. He treated Chase like an equal but saw him as less than because she was trans. He it was revealed that Seb was evil, he kept calling Chase a girl, and using she/her when referring to him. That broke Chase's heart.
Daniel, I hc her as mtf. When she was going through changes and figuring out that she was not a boy, Chase was there to support her. Trans solidarity.
KAZ!! Kaz doesn't care that Chase is trans. Not at all. He doesn't see him as anything less than the man that he is. When he found out, he just smiled and said 'Cool! ' and went on his day. He occasionally has some questions, which can sometimes be a little invasive but are genuinely born from pure curiosity and intrigue. He tries to remember to ask pronouns but sometimes he just genuinely forgets to ask. He doesn't mind it when people correct him.
Oliver is a they/he king. So they dont fully understand what Chase has had to go through, but he's chill with it. When they first meet and get some time to just relax, he asks everyone their pronouns, trying to figure out what to call everyone.
Skylar goes by They/It/She. She didn't really understand the concept of gender when she first came to Earth, but was educated by Oliver and figured out that she didn't always feel like a girl, but never really felt like a guy. They just felt like they were in between, or sometimes something different! So when it found out that Chase was trans, they learned all they could about what Chase has to go through to be able to get to where he was.

My current hyperfixation is Lab Rats.
Not the animal, but the show. You know the one. Leo Dooley has just moved in with his Step-Dad, Donald Davenport, and discovers a secret lab in the basement, where he finds three kids with incredible powers that they call Bionics. He forms a bond with them and brings them out to the normal world for the first time in their lives, which sets up four seasons of wild shenanigans, villains, and self discovery.
And a constant laugh track.
I always thought that Lab Rats had such an amazing concept. The idea that someone made three regular people super with advanced technology, leaving room for morals about self identity and family along the way; I eat crap like this up every time. But Lab Rats was very limited in what it could do because it was a Disney Sitcom. There was no room for character growth that lasted more than an episode or discussions about the trauma that would come with being raised by a narcissist in a lab, never knowing the light of day until your late teens. The neurodivergent and queer coding was never brought up, and just over all, darker themes could not be explored.
So, Tumblr, I've decided to pull a Thanos and do it myself.
I want to make a story about what the show couldn't. I want to write about how the Davenports' relationship will be effected after they meet other people and learn what normal family dynamics are like. I want to write about Donald's emotional neglect and narcissism and how this would be the main key towards Douglas' redemption. I want to write about Adam, Bree, and Chase, exploring their genders, sexualities, masculinity and femininity. But, most of all, I want Donald Davenport to face consequences for his actions.
You may be asking, "Person, why announce this to Tumblr when you can just post the story to Ao3 and/or Wattpad and be done with it?"
Because I wanted to ask the people what they want.
This story isn't just self indulgence, it's for the fandom, whom has already done so much to add more depth to the Lab Rats world. So, I want to know what you want to see. Here is what I have planned to add so far:
1. Chase has D.I.D
I am a firm believer that Spike isn't just some Bionic that Douglas gave Chase. I believe that because of the practically endless trauma that Chase has gone through(going on missions to save the world and Adam's abuse) he developed a D.I.D. system and Spike is the protector. I know that people with D.I.D. usually have multiple alters, but it's not impossible to only have one. Or I may add more. Let me know what you think.
2. Adam, Bree, and Chase are triplets.
They still have the same birth order, they're just triplets now.
3. The main three have less bionics
Oh my god, these kids are so overpowered. To help fill some plot holes, here are the bionics they're going to have:
Adam: Super Strength(his limit is a ton)
Super Durability
Heat Vision
Blast Wave(but he becomes
incredibly exhausted after using it,
so he saves it for emergencies)
Bree: Super Speed(her highest speed is
70 mph, but she becomes
incredibly exhausted after using it),
Super Durability
Super Agility
Invisibility
Vocal Manipulation
Chase: Super Intelligence
Super Durability
Force Field
Laser Bo
4. Douglas has more kids
I'm planning on making Daniel WAY more involved in the plot and Douglas having another daughter. I don't have a name for her yet, so I'm gonna call her E for now. My plan is that after Adam, Bree, and Chase are taken from him, Douglas and Krane just relocate and make more kids. Daniel and E are definitely going to be there, but I might add more. Daniel's bionics are going to stay the same, and I'm deciding between giving E geo-leaping or molecularkinesis. The main purpose for the two of them is to further the I-Am-Your-Father arc, as I like to call it, and to open up new perspectives on Douglas as a father figure.
5. Douglas and Krane are/were in a relationship
Every scene with them is just them being an old married couple.
6. Mighty Med and Lab Rats existing in the same universe is a lot bigger to the plot
I don't want to reveal how I'm gonna execute this, but trust me, it'll be there.
7. Adam has ADHD and Dyslexia
After watching the show fiftyleven times, I can say with confidence that Adam is not dumb. He has a short attention span, sure, but he can think quick on his feet and is actually quite clever. He may not excel in the classroom, but unlike what a lot of parents will tell you, grades are not a good reflection of someone's intelligence or skills. And while Adam's spelling skills are below average, this doesn't usually occur to someone in their late teens unless they a) didn't have access to a good education, or b) they are lazy and incredibly spoiled, and Adam is none of these things. But, something that neurodivergent people tend to do in situations like these is uplay their "dumbness" to the point where it's OBVIOUSLY a joke, except it's not. They just don't want people to think they're actually that dumb.
I wouldn't put it past Donald to just label Adam as dumb and not get him assessed.
8: Bree also has ADHD
Bree also seems to have trouble concentrating and waiting, but where Adam hyperfixates for months at a time and is innatentive, Bree's hyperfixations last for a few days at most before she moves on to the next thing.
9: Chase is bisexual
Do I even have to explain this one?
10: Chase has autism
Listen, this man does not get social cues and info dumps like crazy.
And last, but certainly not least,
11: Krane's story is going to go beyond the every Disney Villain motivation of wanting to take over the world
I always wished they had done more with Krane than the simple, "I wanna take over the world," crap that most Disney villains do. I wanted more lore, more backstory, more motivation. Now, I'm finally getting it.

The Mosley Review: Thanksgiving
Back in 2007, two legendary directors came together to create a wonderful horror double feature called Grindhouse. It was a fun tribute to the classic 1970's horror exploitation films that had wild concepts and insane amounts of gore. In between those films, there were fake trailers that were just as amazing and one in particular was the second highest on my list of concepts that I wanted to be made into a feature film. Now that day has come and it didn't disappoint. This film truly took the idea of the trailer and carved out its own spot in lexicon of the slasher genre. I can't tell you how much fun the opening scene was and as a former retail worker, it was almost everything I experienced and a dream/nightmare scenario that was gloriously created. The rest of the film follows the classic small town horror tropes that I haven't seen done in while with such reverence. The dialogue was actually smart and well written as the characters deliver the slick jabs at the situation and commentary on modern societies glorification of shopping on a holiday and how vicious they get.
Nell Verlaque was excellent as the lead Jessica Wright and I liked her strength. She exudes that classic final girl formula confidence mixed with the right amount of fear and dread as everyone around her starts dying in creative and horrible ways. Rick Hoffman is always a joy to see on screen and as Jessica's father, Thomas, he portrayed the greedy corporate retail business owner perfectly. He just really knows how to play a scumbag that you want to see get hurt. Patrick Dempsey is always fun and as Sheriff Eric Newlon, he was great and charismatic. Tomaso Sanelli nearly stole every scene with his energetic and adrenaline fused performance as Evan. Addison Rae was good as Evan's girlfriend, but didn't really have much to do. Gabriel Davenport was awesome as his friend and fellow football team mate, Scuba. Jenna Warren as Yulia, Suba's girlfriend, was fun and she has one of the best scenes in the film that solidifies how much fun the director is having. Adam MacDonald provided the voice of The Carver and it was a straight up tribute to Scream. I loved his sadist joy and veracity when it came to the kills and torture scenes.
The score by Brandon Roberts was serviceable, but it was a missed opportunity for the film or even the main villain to have a dedicated theme. That being said, I truly think it was a missed opportunity for the film to stay true to the original fake style trailer's style. I understand that it may be too niche for today's audience, but it would’ve had that extra charm to it. Also, the original trampoline scene returned but with the new "cuts" and I wish it had the same ending. I also thought the ending was a little lame. The amount of foreshadowing was wonderfully done in the dialogue, but I didn't feel like there was enough of the "cat and mouse" chase in the last act of the film. Overall, I still had a delightful time with this throwback to the classic style of slasher films. Like I said before, the opening scene is worth the price of admission alone. “Dr. Davenport,” Kaz flashed his trademark smile at the man in front of him, who kept his focus on the scans he was looking at, “I’m Kaz. Dr. Kaz. Your intern for the day.”
“Kaz,” the man nodded, “you’re the one who spilled grape soda in the sterile field, correct?”
“…Yes.” Kaz hung his head

BAYDEN WARDEYN.
As if Bayden didn’t screw with his therapists, lie, and throw very loud fits of epic proportions. If asylums gave oscars and grammys he’d have snatched up a few by now.
So, when she turned to bark her real name at him she wouldn’t be screaming at his back for long. He turned right around. She gained his attention quick.
Celestis Davenport?
The name was so much better than Delacour. He hated that last name. But, he wasn’t about to tell her that yet. He was far too intrigued with her hilarious descriptors of herself.
Prepubescents what the fuckers? It would have been really hard for him to keep a straight face if it wasn’t for the fact it all happened so fast, so his eyes were still busy being popped. This was comedy club gold. He blinked several times as she kept popping off.
There was nothing hotter than a fiercely angry woman running at the mouth about the most ridiculous shit. She has two personalities inside her and the first thing she wants to bicker about is her god damn horoscope?
HER GOD DAMN HOROSCOPE OF ALL THINGS!
His face started to crack a smirk. The amused grin was twisting up one side of his cheek quick.
Annoying brown freckles?
Da’w how cute. Celestis was jealous Rowan was pulling them off. Bayden was loving every minute of this chaotic explosion.
Something finally felt real again.
Holy shit! She used her powers in front of everyone! Bayden’s eyes darted around to see who witnessed it besides him. The couch was upturned on it’s side.
This shit was too funny to not follow. Bayden wasn’t the sort to chase. He’d proven that time and time again, but this was too good. Oh, he had to pester now.
He felt like writing her IDoNtHAvEpArNoRMaLExPEriEnceSEs on a Spongebob meme and slipping it under her door. Actually, that would happen several times before the end of the week. He was plotting it with every step he stalked behind her. He couldn’t believe how down she talked to him like he was an idiot and could understand nothing about this stuff. His sister was a witch. She went to the school and he’s dealt with this magic shit all his life and heard about all kinds of shit. She acts like she has to explain it like magic is a new concept no one but her could possibly understand. He was so sick of everyone thinking he was an idiot. He didn’t need it all explained to him like he was still learning his ABC’s.
So, he had to be the shit he was and called out behind her.
“Are you jealous Rowan’s pulling off the freckles or that I like them?”
That wasn’t all. He didn’t stop there. He kept yelling out.
“Thank fuck it’s not Delacour. Stupid Harry Potter cop off name. No one gives a shit whether you’re a virgo or not. No one. No one actually believes in that shit. Now I know for a fact you’re delusional, ParaNorman.”
He said it so mean and then he just started laughing. He couldn’t take it.
YET Bayden’s a complete && utter idiot who couldn’t follow one simple instruction. Typical.
It felt like floodlights flared to life burning her from the inside out. Invading her space as the lights in the hallway felt to bright flaring && giving her a terrible headache with him tagging along. GLAD Bayden wasn’t on the brink of his melodramatic break down he was at seconds ago though wasn’t he going back to his assistant living?
The sound of his voice helped her brain connect to her limbs, && started to motivate her to move at a much faster pace at that. Emotionally her body was hurting in places she didn’t know could hurt. Though depression && exhaustion usually found ways to do that. It didn’t help that his comment bugged her, just a little, as if it got under her skin. She wasn’t jealous of Rowan’s freckles, but perhaps brackish at the idea he liked them. Feeling tiny pinpricks of pain rushing through her chest. She couldn’t explain why that almost upset her. But damn it. What was wrong with her? “Didn’t really take you for a Burnette && shallow type.” Turning her head to look at him as she’d have a harsh sibilant tone.
“YOU still owe me c o f f e e.” On a rainy day && she won’t let him forget that outside of this shithole when they get there special privilege's back knowing it won’t be awhile anyway.
Heat welling around her eyes. She blinked && kept a stoic face, but didn’t trust her voice to say anything just yet. && even if she did trust it, she wasn’t sure what to say. The ache in her chest doubled in the kind of way of always wishing she knew that part of her. It’s not just validation, or some acting way to understanding oneself but it went deeper. She always wanted to know when she was born. Celestis never really knew the exact day she was born, let alone month. Though she finds herself knowing she’d be a lot happier if she had something. Anything.
Apparently it was to much to ask for. It was always to much to ask for. Shaking her head, as Celestis knew it was her turn to talk, but she still didn’t know what to say. Shocker. She couldn’t say she was enjoying this right now, because she wasn’t. Then a thought struck. “So what’s your zodiac?” It mattered very little about Rowan Delacour’s last name. Rowan was french descent, as Wardeyn wasn’t any better, as Davenport sounded just as worse as Last name’s in general where subjectively supposed to sound stupid to begin with. Though she doubts even in Rowan’s body she could pull of the sexy french-depressive type the last name imbues. It was just not in Celestis genetics, or in her case soul.
The hallways in the Aslyum had felt suffocating in the seconds she was storming through them. Needing to get out. It was like the walls were closing in && becoming claustrophobic as she’d find herself trying to remember the way out. Surprised his mother even so dared him to watch Harry Potter! Since his mother control’s everything in his life anyway, who would have thought. However, she wasn’t in the mood to point it out, not today anyway. “I thought you were going back to you’re princess cottage? Don’t you have birds or rats waiting to braid your hair or somethin.” Celestis couldn’t say that with a huge amount of enthusiasm, but she gave it a shot.
Eager to escape, she took off at the nearest door that led outside where she could breath! Celestis inhaled, still trying to catch her breath, trying to clear her head. She’d walk a bit slower, but not by much, as she found herself going near the graveyard. It wasn’t so much the graves or the dead that made her comfortable, but if there was a calming area, she found the random gardenia bush quite comforting && relaxing even in it’s not so desirable location.

these are inspired by episode 01x17 bc while everyone is screaming their lungs out bc a flaming skull just took over the house, he is absolutely unfazed
chase loves watching horror movies
he really enjoys watching the badly made ones and laugh at the absurdity of some scenes or the anatomical inaccuracies
"there's no way one could survive that" "there's waaay too much blood coming out of that guy, c'mon" "now that's just dumb"
this is why no one ever watches horror movies with him
but he also likes watching good horror movies, the ones that make you sleep with the light on for a week
he likes psychological horrors a lot, he believes a movie doesn't need a lot of gore to be scary
he likes the movie "Us" a lot bc of its deeper meaning
he watched the entire "saw" franchise and made a list of the traps he would have survived cuz he's not dumb
he dresses up as his favorite horror movie characters for halloween
bree finds him weird for liking horror movies so much

Bro, AJ was totally created just to be captured by the shapeshifters.
I mean, if he wasn’t, he should’ve been. I absolutely love AJ, even if he was just sort of Daniel’d in there, but I do genuinely think that the best thing for his character, plotwise, is for him to be captured. He is one of the smartest people in the world, obviously, and he’s only like twelve. The minute that the shapeshifters learn that this likely vulnerable (assumed to be bc of his age at least) and bionic-trusted kid exists, he is being captured either to use for information, or to ransom for information.
I think that it’d be great for some AJ development (by which I mean trauma, but shhh), earning more trust from the Elite Force, and for the developing relationship between him and the Elite Force.
I’d really like to see communication between him and people who aren’t Chase, especially if that furthers the understanding of Chase. Like, Bree has lived with Chase her whole life and she still doesn’t seem to quite get why he is the way he is.
I’d love to see AJ and Kaz discussing Kaz’s feelings, bc I’m a sucker for some Kase. I love the idea of AJ being the first one to know about any of their feelings, including their own.
And of course, I love the idea of AJ being the EF’s Mission Specialist and Adviser.

Okay, last post of the night - how do bionics work???
Here's all we know (this might be a little wrong because i don't watch lab rats in english, so some things might have been translated differently):
1. They were genetically engeneered (Donald mentions this in the first episode and also in the chip switch episode)
2. They have chip that gives them the ability to control their powers (or does it give them the powers?? This isn't really discussed)
3. Some parts of their body are metal (Chase's finger is a usb in one episode and they also have port for their chips on their necks, although that might be just an assumption)
4. They can be controled through their chips (triton app)
5. They themselves don't know what powers they have, and how to control them (last episode of first season)
6. Douglas gives Krane bionics through some weird operation (you know which episode - the one with Krane)
7. Douglas is able to give them new bionics powers (brother battle episode)
8. This is pretty much it?? Which is not a lot...
If you read through this (short, just like Chase) list you will probably come to the conclusion that the one thing that gives people bionics are the chips. That is obviously not true, but the show does nothing to better explain just how do the bionics really work. This has always bugged me, so I came up with some headcannons:
1. They have their 'powers' even without their chips, they just can't use them
2. They don't have the DNA of a normal human
3. They can't just gain random powers, they biology is modified to allow the bionics to exist - Bree's heart and lungs are larger than normal human to be able to keep up with her at higher speed, she also has that aerodynamical shape, even though she's not aware of it. Adam's muscles and bones structures are very different from normal humans, thay are stronger. Part of Chase's brain is actual computer.
3. Bree's invisibility is the result of Douglas playing with DNA of octopuses that can make themselves 'invisible'
4. The metal in their bodies made it really painful growing up. On similar note - their chip port is connected to their nervous system and if it gets damaged they could die

All the Rats are neurodivergent because I said so. Here as some headcanons that might as well be canon
ND Rats for the win
Leo and Chase are both so autistic, they bond over their nerdy little hyperfixations and it drives Mr Davenport up the walls from the constant chattering of the two
Bree has ADHD that went under the radar for years, it isn’t until they all start going to school and she starts complaining about struggling to focus when Chase tells her that she definitely has ADHD.
Chase has literally diagnosed all the rats with things, he’s the smartest person alive so of course he’ll be able to diagnose people with things. I believe me and Aster came up with this hc but I’m not entirely certain who it was now.
Adam is the classic example of male ADHD, it was caught at a very early age. Davenport always uses it to excuse Adam’s behaviours towards Chase. Adam is always confused about that though because ‘no, I actually meant to punch him, it wasn’t an accident’
Leo is actually AuDHD (unofficial term for a person who is both autistic and has ADHD) which means he never stops running his mouth. Chase grows to appreciate the silences being filled in the lab for once.
Bree never stops moving, often times she’s super speeding whatever stim she’s doing at that time. As a kid she would super jump over and over again until she was physically stopped because the dust she was kicking up would make Chase get itchy and sneezy.
Chase doesn’t stim openly because Mr Davenport once told him he looked like an idiot. (He didn’t actually say idiot, the word actually begins with an R and it’s a slur I refuse to say even though I’m autistic)
Adam really struggles at school, Chase used to make fun of him until he realised that Adam was genuinely really struggling badly. He not tries to help him study and do his homework, sometimes he actually just does his homework if Adam is having a bad day.
Bree is constantly bullied for being the ‘weird’ girl, she tries to fit in by copying outfits she sees in magazines. Adam picks up on it, miraculously, and tells her that she looks really boring now.
Adam matches outfits with Bree to make her feel less self conscious. It helps a lot and Adam actually really likes matching outfits with his sister. Bree really enjoys it too. BRING BACK OUR WONDERFUL WEIRD GIRL BREE. I hate LREF for changing her entire weird girl personality.
Chase genuinely just can’t dress himself. His outfits always clash and he just can’t figure out how to pair things together. Tasha takes him shopping and matched all his outfits for him which helps him get an idea of what matches and what doesn’t. He really loves his new mum. (I cannot say ‘mom’ it genuinely pains me)
Leo introduces Chase to the concept of safe foods when Chase freaked out over the texture of some food in his lunch at school. Chase has so many non-perishable snacks in his locker for days that he’s struggling.
Leo also has so many snacks in his locker, Adam and Bree are always stealing food from both of them.
Chase had a huge meltdown at school when he got overstimulated by all the noise. They had been on a mission the night prior that involved a lot of loud noises from an explosion and school the next day just completely threw him over the edge. His siblings found him huddled in the corner of a janitors closet and that’s when they decided to force Mr Davenport to make Chase some bionic noise cancelling headphones.
Leo is the only person allowed into their capsules, he typically only goes in them if he’s feeling overstimulated because they’re soundproof and noise cancelling. He prefers Chase’s one over Adam and Bree’s because it doesn’t have a strong smell to it. Bree’s one always smells of perfume and Adam’s smells like sweaty teen boy mixed with Lynx body spray. (I recently found out that Lynx is called Axe in the US)
Chase loves physical affection which often gives him imposter syndrome because it makes him think he’s faking being autistic. It isn’t until Leo tells him that he’s the same way that Chase understands how diverse autism is. Of course he knows it’s a spectrum but sometimes he just gets all up in his head about it.
The Rats aren’t really friends with other people. They hang out with each other and don’t stray too far away. They got even more uncomfortable having other friends after the Marcus incident.
Marcus was the first person that didn’t call them weird after their first interaction. Chase was so upset when Marcus betrayed them because he thought someone finally wanted to be his friend. Plus the fact that Marcus nearly killed his brother.
Chase is easily manipulated because he’s autistic. He finds it hard to read people and know if they have ulterior motives.
Adam is very open about having ADHD, Bree mentions it in passing sometimes whereas Chase isn’t very open about being autistic. He was bullied heavily in high school for it and he isn’t prepared for the media to bully him too. At least at school he could escape it when he came home, he doesn’t think he could cope if it was all online 24/7.
Kaz is so excited to find out Chase is autistic, he then very excitedly tells Chase that Oliver is autistic too. Chase is enamoured at how someone is so happy that another person is autistic. It makes him feel really good about himself.
Chase and Kaz get on better than Bree would have expected considering Kaz has ADHD and is very loud. Chase appreciates having someone that understands his sensory issues because Kaz does get it. Kaz will be quiet if he notices Chase is having a hard time dealing with his super senses that day.
The reason Chase loves hanging out in all the labs is because they’re all underground and quiet. Of course there are still some noises that normal people wouldn’t hear but it’s much less than the ones above ground.

Chase is a bad teacher because he cant focus on so many people at once. They all have different learning styles and Chase is such a perfectionist that if someone is falling behind he takes that personally and gets frustrated and controlling.
He is, however, a great one-on-one tutor. He taught Trent an entire year's worth of information in two days (maximum. I dont remember how much time it was exactly). He taught Oliver how to use his powers in Elite Force.
Anyways im saying that if theres no set curriculum for the bionic academy Chase could absolutely have like 15 minute private sessions with his students to better suit their needs as well as his own.

okay hear me out, what about a imagine where chase davenport and the reader are friends/academic rivals and there’s a test in a class they share coming up and chase proposes a bet to her about who’ll make the highest grade. but, because the reader is struggling with the unit, she’s reluctant to accept. chase notices this and awkwardly gives her a pep talk or something and offers to give her a lesson/tutor her after school one day.

IT WAS no surprise that you and Chase Davenport were two of the smartest kids in school. It had become a betting game on who would get the better grade out of the two of you.
So much so that competition between you and Chase had started.
It was small petty things at first. Who could get the better grade? Who could finish the test first? Little things.
But this time was a little different. Exams were coming up and Chase had proposed a bet.
“Whoever makes the highest grade on our math exam is declared the smartest kid in school. Deal?”
It wouldn’t have been a issues if the subject was something like English or Science, subjects that your were good at. Math on the other hand was something you had struggled with since you could remember.
It was anything too bad, but you knew if you accepted the bet you’d lose a thousand percent.
Chase put his hand down slowly and furrowed his brows.
Why was she so hesitant? He wondered. He crossed his arms over his chest.
“Deal.”
He kept his brows furrowed, he didn’t have to be bionic to know that you seemed to be scared.
“What?” You questioned.
“You don’t want to do the bet.”
“I do. I’m just—“
“Bad at math?”
You quickly placed your hand over his mouth to shush him.
“Speak again and people will be wondering where your lips went.”
Chase removed her hands from his mouth, “I can tutor you if you need help.”
You eyes him for a moment before taking a couple steps back, “What do you get in return?”
He would receive nothing. It’s not he would blab to others about it.
“You help me.”
“With?”
“I also need a tutor… a person to help me with art.”
Now, Chase did not need a art tutor whatsoever. He was multitalented and needed no help, but in the hopes of making you feel better.
You sighed, “Fine. I help you and you help me.”
“Deal.”
A blossoming friendship indeed.
